  1. Didn't Ruth have to buy a new uniform in the market? I found it interesting that she didn't take the time to fold down her collar properly. Season 1 Ruth would never have let herself be seen like that!
  2. I finally got a title for my Mac/Flack slash fic. I went with 'Pushing boundaries' and it's posted to fanfiction.net as Cein and Archiveofourown and SquidgeWorld.org as Ceindreadh. Now I just need to get started on the next one!
  3. I think the food-less dinner was just a one off. So instead of inviting people over and feeding them, they just invited people over and talked without the distraction of food.
  4. Wyatt "This has been the best weekend of my life!" Wyatt's mother who has raised him singlehandedly for the past 17 years. "F**k you!"
  5. Even if a character is a fatality, we'd probably still see the body, so they should be getting a credit anyway.
  6. Or sometimes women have irregular periods anyway or have a little breakthrough bleeding. It does happen in real life. My sister was about 18 weeks gone with her third kid before she realized it.
  7. @ESS as a reader, I really appreciate it when writers put a recap at the beginning of a new chapter. Especially if it's been a long time between updates.
  8. There were a few occasions when I think the camera angles were deliberately used to make it difficult to initially tell which character we were looking at. I watched this over the Christmas break. I'd read the book before, which would have helped if I'd remembered more of it! Enjoyed it though.
  9. Heh, the only thing harder than getting a title can be deciding on a summary! It's even harder when I'm posting multi-chaptered stories because I want to give a summary of the last chapter, but I don't want to give away spoilers on a main page for anybody reading it later on. Anyway, so the summary for my CSI NY fic - "Mac and Don have a ‘friends with benefits’ thing going on. No commitments, no responsibilities, just the way they like it. When Don comes down with the flu, Mac breaks their agreed boundaries to look after him. But has he overstepped the mark and will their relationship be the same afterwards?"
  10. @ESS Do you do individual chapter titles? I'm managed that with a few of my stories, but usually I think if I can get an overall story title that's enough!
  11. Don't mistake her for the other Jackie Weaver https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-59745618
  12. I haven't been writing as much as I want to. (real life and the need to do actual work to put food on the table has a habit of getting in the way). I'm trying to get a title for a Mac/Flack CSI NY fic which has a bit of a 'Great British Baking show' crossover going on. The story is finished but I can't post it until I get a name. So instead of working on the name, I decided to start a Flack and Hawkes fic, because I wanted to try something different. So far I have about 8 pages of notes but I can't get the opening paragraph just right, doh!
  13. Didn't he tell Clarice his wife died of cancer.
  14. It was also very nice to see him in glasses (yes, I'm shallow!)
  15. Wait, they went looking for stolen mustangs and got them back without firing a gun and/or killing anybody? Am I watching the wrong show?
  16. And wouldn't there be tax implications if somebody's boyfriend gifted them half a property?
  17. I'd allow them that one. I can't imagine there were too many flights landing in the, ahem, blizzard.
  18. AFAIK (based on my extensive watching of USA TV dramas!), it is possible for a parent to nominate a guardian in the event of their death and those wishes would be taken into account if there was a dispute over custody. But if the nominated guardian was deemed unfit, or rather, less fit than somebody opposing custody e.g. a next of kin, then those wishes could be overridden. Given that Harold is a (supposedly) upstanding FBI agent, with no criminal history, he'd probably have a good chance of retaining custody even if Agnes's grandmother had opposed it. The fact that Harold would have been a bigger part of Agnes's/Liz's life than Scottie would also likely have been a factor. Of course, TPTB could yet decide to show a custody battle that happened in the missing two years.
  19. I was at a Sci-Fi convention and the author Robert Rankin was talking on a panel about how he always wrote longhand on paper when doing his books. Partly because it made it easier to go to the pub and work on his writing (this being in the days before laptops and/or tablets were around) and partly because it meant that he had a record of all the drafts, which he wouldn't have had if he'd been editing on a word processor as he went along.
  20. I keep a OneNote doc just for notes and ideas and snippets of dialogue. Sometimes I'll even get ideas for complete scenes that I'll jot down and then just wait until I can find a plot or story to put them in. It's one way of making sure that I won't forget them! And then of course if I do manage to write the story, it's interesting to go back later and see how different or similar the original idea was from the final product.
  21. I've been trying to finish a two part CSI NY fic for a few weeks now, so instead of working on it over the weekend, I came up with ideas for two other fics and started plotting them, doh! Ah well, at least I'm writing something even if it's just notes for stories that I'll probably never get to!
  22. I'm not saying I'd be happy to watch a whole episode of the guys just chilling on surfboards...but I certainly wouldn't be switching the channel!
  23. They're pretty good fun. I did a few of them. What happens is, you sign up and give a list of the fandoms that you have at least a certain number of fics written in, and a list of the fandoms you'd like to write in. Then you get given a name and have to take one of their stories and write your own version of it. You're allowed to nominate a story that you don't want to be rewritten and I don't think you were allowed remix a previous remix, but apart from that, it was a case of anything goes! I don't think I was posting to AO3 when I wrote the crossovers. Only about a quarter of my stories are posted there. Although I do try to crosspost to AO3 as well as fanfiction.net whenever I post anything new, just in case one site ever disappears, I like knowing that I have a backup. I miss the days of the yahoogroups mailing lists. There were so many dedicated to specific shows and sometimes even specific pairings. It made it very easy to find new writers and a new audience.
  24. It may have been the 'proper Italian' pronunciation of the name, but it's not the way that DiNozzo himself pronounced his name. Which means that every time Fornell deliberately mispronounced it after the first time, it was intended as a deliberate insult to Tony.
