  1. Original Recipe Law and Order is straightforward police procedural and light on the soapiness. The personal drama never overwhelms the story even with the well-drawn characters. SVU focuses more on the personal. The first few seasons of Criminal Intent are great, but as the show goes on it gets personal for one detective.
  2. Nick definitely has a higher opinion of himself and his talents that is warranted. I remember when he tried his hand at musical theatre. He was Marius in the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert. A star-studded cast filled with talent, and Nick Jonas. Bless his heart, he tried.
  3. I was just looking over the new NFL deal, and the streaming stuff is a little confusing with each network having their own streaming platform. It's easier to watch network TV or Sunday Ticket than to remember which platform goes to which network. Amazon has all Thursday night games, CBS or Paramount+ on Sunday for AFC games, Fox or Tubi (??) on Sunday for NFC games, NBC or Peacock for Sunday Night and ESPN or ESPN+ for Monday night. Who has the time to keep track on which platform your game is on each week. Also, what else is on Tubi to warrant me subscribing to yet another platform for the 2 games a year my Browns are on Fox.
  4. Live sports also play a role in keeping NBC, CBS, Fox and ESPN afloat. ABC is bailed out by Disney and the ESPN sports profits.
  5. Doesn't every bride delude herself thinking her bridesmaids' dresses can be worn again?
  6. I agree that the Duggars would only sit down for a pre-negotiated "soft" interview, but that is true for every celebrity. When Prince Andrew did that disastrous interview in 2019, he did not expect that to be the result when he sat down. The journalist and his/her team worked building his trust and then started to lob the hard questions. Megyn Kelly went soft on JB and Michelle because that was always the plan from the network. She never asked the hard questions nor did her editing team splice together any damning answers. That was not the point of the sitdown. The point was always to rehabilitate JB and Michelle.
  7. Well, that is why you cross check the story with other outlets to verify. If only one outlet is reporting on a story, then it is most likely propaganda or outright false. If the same story appears on multiple outlets, reported the same way, then it is most likely true. Every media outlet has made mistakes over the years, and I keep track of how many, the severity of the story, and their reaction. Do they retract the story and offer a sincere apology, do they ignore it, or do they double down? I know which major network doubles down.
  8. It's a rehash of everything. The "source" also says Anna took the kids to see Josh. Nothing else that you don't already know, but with multiple pics of Josh and ads.
  9. So Punchable Aunt Cade and Gabby attended the Billboard Music Awards last night. https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/metallics-and-sequins-at-the-2021-billboards/2021-billboard-music-awards-backstage-10 I'm giving this marriage 2 years tops. He looks miserable as the plus one to his more famous wife.
  10. Jennifer has an Apple TV series, The Morning Show, which was a critical hit. I'm not sure how many people actually watch Apple TV outside of Ted Lasso. She doesn't need the paycheck for this reunion. I believe the push for this reunion is that Gen Z discovered Friends last year. Also, other shows got a boost last year with their Zoom reunions and TPTB wanted to capitalize on it. This reunion just kept on getting pushed back for various reasons.
  11. The only way Jessa and Ben would name their son a French name like Yves is if there is some Huguenot martyr who had that name. We need to start a list of famous Protestant thinkers/martyrs for the next kid.
  12. Or they really do leave their family size up to God. I know the Duggars and other Quiverful families use this phrase, but tracking the wife's cycle in order to have sex on her fertile days is not leaving it up to God.
  13. Was Jill really taken to task when this is pulled straight from the Duggar (or Fundie) Snark subreddit? A corner of the internet you have to seek out, not her Instagram comments or Twitter comments. I do agree with the one poster who said that Jill most likely typed "fly" into the Instagram music database and that song came up. I'm gonna side eye Instagram for having R. Kelly's music there.
  14. Maybe it's the fact that both Patricia and Leah had to act like they were deeply in love with their schlubby man-child husbands while staying trim.
  15. I assume some of the couples who choose to do the deed on their wedding night may not be able to successfully insert Tab A into Slot B especially if both are inexperienced.** It may take a couple of nights for this to happen. **I wanted to add some euphemism for premature ejaculation here, but my wit is failing. The only thing running through my mind is Lily Von Shtupp singing "I'm tired."
  16. There are many children's books like this that deal with the hard topics because not every kid has a picture perfect childhood. There is a need for these titles. I stumbled upon this particular book while working today.
  17. It's the same with microfilm. They load up the reel and immediately find the article they need instead of sitting there for hours getting motion sickness.
  18. I've only read recaps, but I am always drawn more to female characters learning how to make the patriarchal system work for them while still "keeping sweet" than stories where the female character is a badass rebel.
  19. A true homemade alfredo sauce is more work than a Duggar especially Michelle would do. Michelle ain't grating enough parmesan cheese for 20 people. I know there are shortcuts like using pre-grated parm and thickeners like cream cheese, but you can't make alfredo with just any store-bought parm. I shudder to think about using Kraft powdered parm or the Great Value equivalent. Sauces with 5 ingredients need them to be quality ingredients.
  20. I can honestly see Kate and Toby divorcing. I do think Gregory is a tad too old for her, but Kate remarrying is a possibility. That would make Toby's scene in the hotel make sense. He definitely had more going on than his mother-in-law dying.
  21. I personally would rather men keep their ratty ball caps on while dining instead of taking it off and leaving it on the table through the meal. Of course this is only if we are casually dining out. Leave the damn hat at home for more formal occasions.
  22. The anti-communist stuff got swept under the rug once the horrors of the Nazis were known, and many of Stalin's atrocities are not widely known. In the 30s, Stalin was the one killing off his citizens by the millions not Hitler. Hitler was seen as someone on the European continent who could stop Stalin from expanding past the Ukraine and the Baltic.
