  1. I enjoyed this episode. Everyone (well, everyone who was shown this week) had an interesting story going on. We had some humor with Sherloque and his many ex-wives, some action with Barry and Ralph and their shoot-out, and some suspense with Iris and (the ridiculous) Cicada. Where is Joe? He's supposedly been "visiting Wally" for a really long time. Is Jesse Martin ill or doing a movie or something? The show really needs him. The good thing about having Joe there is that he's the regular guy in the middle of all the superhero action, representing us viewers in the midst of chaos. I remember in S1 when he was captured by Gorilla Grodd; his look of sheer terror is still the best acting I've ever seen on this show; I REALLY felt for him in that scene! I like to pretend that he's actually the same character that he played in Law and Order, just transferred to Central City. It seems like with Ralph there, we don't have room for Cisco, too. Maybe the cast is getting a little bloated, with certain characters overlapping each other. My favorites are still Barry, Caitlyn/KF, Joe, and the "Welles-of-the-season" (except for H.R.). The guy who plays Cicada is probably the worst actor I've ever seen. Does he get paid by the grunt, or by how deep he can take his "Batman voice"?
  2. I really liked the tornado shelter company; what a great idea! Sure, its small, but tornadoes race through a area pretty quick. You wouldn't have to stay in there for very long. My sister lives in northern Texas and has an underground storm shelter. When they firs had it installed, there was abig storm and the thing flooded! The company had placed it in the lowesrt point in their back yard! LOL They had to get it dug up and moved. This Shark Tank company could avoid that whole problem. SubSafe was a solution in search of a problem. Why do you need a special product like that for sub sandwiches in a boat? have they never heard of Tupperware? Also, Publix/Kroger/Target/Walmart all sell dozens of plastic containers of all shapes and sizes for really cheap prices that do this exact same thing. I didn't like the vegetable tasting product because I hate vegetables and never eat them, and would never encourage anyone else to eat them either, I think there are plenty of basic, common sense ways for parents who (for some reason) want their kids to eat their vegetables to actually get them used to eating them that don't rely on spending money and buying specialized products like the one demonstrated on the show. Kids have learned to "like" eating vegetables for thousands of years without this new product. (I also don't think covering vegetables in garlic and spices will work any better than my old method of dunking them in catsup or BBQ sauce when I was a kid!) The stinky shoe product sounded like a good idea. I'd check it out if I saw it in the store.
  3. I loved how Robert told the Montessori woman that her Harvard education had spoiled her into not understanding the true value of money. She blew through a huge amount of cash, but her attitude was, "Well, we're about to get some more!" I'll bet if she'd had to self-fund her business, she would have been much more attentive to how many dollars were walking out her door. Also, she really blew the deal with Robert at the end! He agreed to all her terms, yet she still wanted to try to negotiate an even better deal. I don't think her deal with Kevin will go through; she didn't seem enthusiastic at all, and I think she took his deal in order to save face.
  4. Is it wrong that I strongly dislike all 8 contestants on this show? Somehow, I think all 8 of them could do better than the person they're with; how is that even possible?!? LOL Kaci and Evan remind me of "The Addams Family", if Lurch was dating Morticia. Kaci is all teeth and gums, and I can't stop staring at her mouth in every scene she's in. Kaci should have insisted on the ring before hey moved in together. Evan thinks he's a playa, and he doesn't want to tie himself down if he doesn't absolutely have to. Poor Javen! he's so scared of his girlfriend; I've never seen a man so scared when another woman even looks his way. I think he's got Stockholm Syndrome at this point. Shari talked about his "past indiscretions", but her equipping him with a short leash and a choke collar are not the way to get him settled down; he needs to do that himself. Shari needs to find a man who she can TRUST. Otherwise, they're both going to be miserable. Who's the couple where the woman questions her boyfriend's masculinity every 5 minutes? He needs to break up immediately. She's never going to change, and neither of them will ever be happy with each other. She wants a man just like "muh Daddy" - i.e.- a "real" man. This guy is never going to fit her narrow view of manhood. I doubt any of the himbos in the villa will meet her longterm expectations either. I hope the boyfriend heads for the exit from this show - alone and free! The final couple made no impression on me, except that the boyfriend told his date about his sex needs and how he needs his girlfriend around to fill them daily. Yuck. Great job, dude; I can't believe you ever got a girlfriend with that line! I heard the word "conversate" twice last night, and it filled me with rage both times. Conversate?!? You want to "conversate" with her?!? Maybe they can be in "agreeance" to "conversate" later. Ugh! The women in the villa who are "looking for love" (Hired to try to break up couples) are terrible. What was that giant late-night fight all about? They make the women on "The Bachelor" look like they came out of the pages of "Pride and Prejudice".
  5. This was like Old-School "The Profit", where every episode taught me new things about business that I'd never thought of before. That was awesome! I'll bet a 2 hour version of this one would be even better. So much work accomplished in so little time! I loved how Marcus matter-of-factly told them to get form an LLC and get some articles of incorporation -- while also doing all the work required for their T-Mobile meeting in 10 days! Yikes!!! I guess LegalZoom (or whatever they call it) wasn't willing to be a sponsor on this episode. Too bad; they could have gotten a LOT of publicity out of it. On the other hand, what we saw was a sped-up version of how business works, because a company without Marcus' help (and $2 million) would not have had meetings with the CEO of T-Mobile or a meeting with the office of the Commissioner of MLB at that early a stage of their development.
  6. I don't think Caitlyn got sent home early because she had no deep dark secrets to expose to the world. Her ending came when Colton asked what she wanted in a relationship, and she told him she wanted a guy who could go out with her and her friends and have some fun times. Basically, bar-hopping. This isn't what Colton's looking for, so she was doomed at that point. Not to mention, she seemed unable to even carry on a conversation with him about anything. She didn't need to vomit out some painful past memories, but she should have at least been able to talk about something interesting. In the battle of the pageant queens, I'm glad they're keeping them for the 2-on-1 date later this season. Dump them both, Colton! It'll be "the most shocking date in Bachelor history!" LOL I like Hannah B. better, because she's a bit of a nut. Growl and hiss some more, Hannah! I don't remember seeing Nina on the show before tonight. She was on the group date, and she was absolutely gorgeous! How did I miss her before?
  7. That one-on-one date was awesome! They were in the desert at the spot where Captain Kirk fought the Gorn in the famous Star Trek episode. Then they went aboard the USS Poseidon (aka- Queen Mary) for a dinner! I was in geek heaven! LOL So far, I don't like any of the women on the show, but Colton does seem like a nice guy to hang out with. I think he'd be happier with a "normal" woman (i.e.-not one of these wanna-be model/actress/TVpersonality types).
  8. I'll bet that "personal butler" that was assigned to Marcus had an easy time during filming. Marcus doesn't seem like a typical Vegas high-roller. I'll bet he was in bed by 9:00 pm each night! For a savvy businessman, Marcus seemed like the most naive rube who dropped off the back of a turnip truck when he hit the Las Vegas Strip. Does he REALLY not know how to play Blackjack, or how a casino works? Also, why show how expensive Las Vegas can be by going out of your way to purchase $950 ties, $850 shoes, and stay in a suite that costs $3500/night? He could have spent that kind of money back in Chicago if he wanted. If you've got the money, you can always find someone willing to sell you stupid, over-priced stuff in exchange for it, no matter where you are. Should I expect to see a Sweet Pete's in Caesar's Palace next time I visit?
  9. I must admit that I actually enjoyed the Live portions of the show last night. At first, it seemed like useless filler, but the past contestants who "hosted" the Live segments were actually really good at the job and managed to get their crowds of fans excited and involved in the proceedings. I thought Jared and Ashley I. were particularly polished in their segments. I liked the first on-air proposal because it seemed at least a little spontaneous, but the 2nd one was so obviously pre-planned that it ruined it. The pregnant bride-to-be's parents also "just happened" to be attending that viewing party, and were available to join their daughter on-camera once she said Yes? I don't buy it! I enjoyed the "Chris Harrison tribute" video, and he seemed actually moved when talking to his Mom. On to the actual show. I guess Colton likes blondes, huh? haha And not a single Tia look-a-like in the bunch! Colton seems nice enough. I thought he seriously needed a shave, but all those women kept complimenting his "scruff". I thought he looked unkempt. I was rooting for Miss Alabama (especially once Miss NC showed up and it turns out they know each other "professionally" haha), and sloth-girl (who got sent home-she was hot!). The mean girl, Catherine, really needs to up her game. "Interrupting" makes you rude, not a villain. Where were all the drunken flame-outs this season? Where were the soul-crushing realizations that you MAY NOT succeed in life on just looks alone? Where was all the passive-aggressive behavior? (Or the just plain aggressive behavior for that matter?) I like my "Bachelor" shows with a much higher concentration of "the crazy" than what they served us last night!
  10. The Tush Baby lady got really lucky that the other Sharks kind of shamed Lori into making an offer. The way she was talking about how they didn't have enough customer feedback yet, and how it was too early for her to get involved made me think she was on the verge of going out. However, that would ahve been really, really funny. She got 2 good offers and she basically didn't care. Daymond even offered her her asking price! Bruw was a company with "basement DYI" written all over it. So, I just take some screen I can buy in bulk from Home Depot, stick a straw through it, and place it between 2 Mason jars? Got it. I'm now a coffee entreprenuer, too! The 2 guys with the exercise equipment seemed to be the real deal, so I'm surprised they didn't get a deal. They certainly had great backgrounds in the fitness industry. I couldn't believe that Kevin hated it so much! I'm happy for the Moki door latch couple. I thought they were going to be scuttled due to either the high valuation or the fact that they had an uncle who had some incredible royalty deal. I'm glad they were able to sell out and move on with their lives. One thing, though. Every time the husband spoke, I thought the sound on my TV was cutting in and out. Apparently his nervousness gave him a bit of a clipped speech pattern that made him extremely hard to understand. Did anyone else have this problem?
  11. I liked this couple. They seemed like a couple of hardworking people from humble backgrounds who decided to go into business to make a better life for their family. Despite their lack of experience, they'd managed to make a profit in the first 2 years in business. Good for them! The toy store business is pretty tough, so opening one in a town devoted to Santa Claus was a smart move on their part. I don't think Marcus' renovations really extended to the outside, and it should have. Its not a very inspiring building for a toy store, so some kind of oversized toy(s) out there was needed, especially in the summer, to attract some tourists. I agree above that a fulltime Santa was also needed. his won't be one of Marcus' big blockbuster deals, but I'll bet he makes some money from this partnership.
  12. I watched a few episodes of this show when it first started last year, but gave up on it. I'm really pleased with how much its improved this season! I was on the edge of my seat last night. I'm glad that Dr. Bell isn't a mustache-twirling incompetent villain like he seemed to be last year. He's a much better character now. He always seems to go against his better judgement and towards the "money" solution, which blows up in his face. I think that underneath, he's a decent guy who just needs to learn where to draw the line (hint: closer than where he's been drawing it so far!). That whole "Will he do the right thing this time, or make a dick move?" question makes him my favorite character. I couldn't quite place the evil Quo Vadis CEO until he turned bad last night. He was on "Elementary" a couple of seasons ago as Sherlock's former heroin-addicted pal, who was so odious that Sherlock beat him practically to death and then had a relapse. I hated that character! The fact that I took so long to recognize him tells me he's a really good actor. I like his role here much better. I hope Conrad's Dad doesn't die. They need a tough, no-nonsense guy in there for Conrad and Dr. Bell to chafe against/ally with, depending on the circumstances. I had no problem with Devon calling off the wedding. Better to break up before the marriage than afterwards.
  13. The actual mystery of the episode was rushed so they could spend 20 minutes on that stupid missing cat. I really like this show, but I had some problems with last night's episode. 1. I understand a child wanting to hire a PI to find her beloved pet, but its her Mom's job as a parent to explain that you don't hire a professional for such a small job. 2. The little girl wasn't that little. I mean, she wasn't 3 or 4 year old. And yet, she somehow thought it was appropriate to pay a grown man 25 cents a day to do a job. Come on, even a kid from the 1950s would know better than that. Completely unbelievable. 3. The way Mom was acting during Magnum's first visit, I assumed she was going to pay him his actual fee at the end of the assignment, or maybe sleep with him in lieu of said payment. (I'm pretty sure Magnum was thinking the same thing.) Then, at the end, not only does she not pay him, she won't even go get coffee with him! What was that all about? I'll bet that once she closed the door, she turned to her daughter and said, "See honey, THAT's how you get a man to do whatever you want!" while high-fiving her. 4. I'm glad they added Agent Cho from The Mentalist to the show, but his idea of looking for the rogue FBI agent/murderer alone was stupid. At least bring some uniforms as back-up; he didn't have to tell them who he was after, just that there was an armed and dangerous killer on the loose; details to follow. I'm starting to like Higgins a little better now; she's not the focus of every episode anymore.
  14. The title of the episode kind of gave away the "mystery" Magnum was trying to solve. Great job, show! :( I thought Higgins was going to save the day (again) at the end of the episode, but then I remembered that the show is called "Magnum PI" and not "Higgins MI6", so I was glad to see Magnum got to do some action scenes himself for once. Glad to see Dr. Ken and Agent Cho again. These guys are great character actors, so I hope we see more of both of them. Rick is great in this incarnation, but TC needs more to do.
  15. I was watching the end of the show, when cop-lady was out driving around, looking for the older woman with dementia. I said to myself, "If this lady accidently runs over the old woman while madly searching for her, I'll watch this show till the day it goes off the air!" LOL
  16. Nice to see the guy from Ring show up and get a little "revenge" on the Sharks. Turning him down 5 years ago was the biggest goof in Shark Tank history. I wasn't too impressed by any of the products this week. I think I could go my whole life without any of these items and never feel like I missed a thing! Paper straws cost 4 times more than plastic straws? That seems weird. I would have thought that a replenishable paper product would be much cheaper than a petroleum product. Maybe because no one's set up for truly mass production of paper straws, while plastic straws have been optimized for years? I don't know. I DO know that I'm not going to walk around with a $20 straw in my pocket in case I need to wet my whistle.
  17. For me, Jason is the heart of the show. I think he has the greatest potential to truly become a "good person". The others are pretty set in their behaviors; Jason could actually make a permanent change if only his IQ could be raised by about 5 points! I find myself enjoying his segments of the show the most.
  18. I got a bit of a "Saint Elsewhere" vibe from it, so that was good. I'll chalk up a lot of the frantic pace stuff to trying to introduce so much in the pilot episode. I'm guessing it'll slow down a bit after this. Hopefully, they'll solve either Dr. Tom Keen's marriage problem, his baby problem, or his cancer problem soon. They've got way too much on his personal plate for him to be truly effective running the hospital. I kind of wanted the "maverick ER doctor" to contract whatever that kid had, though. I thought she was annoying and too full of herself, and could use a swift kick in the pants.
  19. I was never that big of a fan of the original show, but my sister (a teen at the time) absolutely loved Tom Selleck. She's so angry that they've rebooted this show! I was laughing at her this weekend as she was going off on this show. She refuses to watch! LOL The show wasn't too bad, but also not that memorable. This was a remake of the original pilot, which I remember seeing back in 1980. I like the emphasis on action (much like the new HF0), and the easy-going friendship between Magnum and Rick was spot-on. I don't mind a female Higgins, but why have her falling for Magnum already? The charm of the original Magnum-Higgins friendship was that they disliked each other for quite awhile before eventually learning to respect and admire each other. This version of Higgins acts my sister did towards Magnum 38 years ago!

    S01.E01: Pilot

Interesting idea for a show, but I don't think that making Officer Debbie Downer of the NYPD as the main character was a good idea.
  21. I don't know why shows like Elementary (and The Flash) feel the need to focus on season-long arcs like Michael or Shinwell. I hate those things! They always drag on for way too long and they tend to drain the charm out of the characters we've come to enjoy. Mini-arcs of a few episodes may be fine, but trying to drag out a serial killer story like Michael for an entire season is a real stretch. As it was, Michael was only in about 7 episodes, but it still felt really long for him to be caught. Much better criminals on this show are captured in a single episode! I hated this episode until the very end; then I was really happy with the results. Going forward, I would think that Gregson and Bell are out as regulars (?). I mean, they could somehow find a convoluted way of keeping them, but Bell should be working with the US Marshals by now, and they've burned Gregson as an ally way too badly to bring him back. Hannah is bad news. I was thinking back to the episodes she's been in over the years, and she always brings misery to at least one of the cast members. I can't believe everyone is covering up for her (again!).
  22. I got the impression that Cassandra actually arrived before Olivia. When Cassandra arrived, Angela was talking about how her date with Eric was the previous night, but according to the show's timeline, it was at least 1-2 nights earlier (before John's date with Olivia). In fact, while all the Casandra/Eric drama was going on, I kept asking myself, "Where is Olivia? I see everyone else there, but not her." It probably doesn't really matter, but it may explain why seeing a new girl show up (Olivia) just after all the drama with Cassandra would have cooled off the contestants considerably.
  23. I was really looking forward to that fight! It was over so quickly, but I was able to rewind and watch it back slowly. From the previews, I assumed it would be a lot of chest bumping and trash talk, followed thrown drink and walking away. NO! Those guys were really ready to fight. That would have been a brutal fight had security not stepped in; those guys weren't kidding around. It looked like punches were almost thrown by Joe and Leo, but those security guys must have been real pros, because they got in there quickly and shut them both down. I don't think either guy actually got hit, but both were starting their swings when it was stopped. Otherwise, a boring episode overall. Everyone is coupled up, so I felt sorry for the 2 new women; they were lucky to find anyone willing to date them at all. I kind of gave up on The Bachelorette a few seasons ago, so I don't know most of the guys here this season, but Jordan is hilarious. What a faker, but what an entertaining faker! LOL
  24. I generally watch BIP as "dumb summer fun", but Annalise is messing that up by appearing so pitiful and needy. She is so desperate for anyone -- ANYONE -- that every guy who comes along and even looks at her twice is suddenly "exactly what I'm looking for". Then she runs off to the other women (or to us, in a TH) and talks about what a great couple she and <fill in the blank> are, and how she can see a future together for them. Its really sad. Plus, her moods swing from giddy to sorrowful based purely on how the guy she's after is treating her at that moment. I feel the need to turn my head away whenever she shows up on-screen now. I truly hope she's not as pathetic in real life as they're showing her to be on this show. I'm starting to have some true concern for her well-being.
  25. I really enjoy Elementary, but I sometimes wonder how different this show would be if they hadn't cast an actress to play Moriarty who almost immediately afterward became the star of a hugely popular show. Would each season of Elementary be an individual story arc of Holmes vs Moriarty or Holmes&Moriarty vs some "bigger Bad"? Its interesting how a single casting decision can affect an entire show.
