  1. So, basically this was "Please come to our party so we can thank you for your support. Oh, and bring your own food and enough for the rest of us." That's the kind of thank you that ...isn't. I come from a tradition where the church ladies still put out a spread after a funeral (mmm, pie), so I am not unfamiliar with the church potluck, but this is something else. What do you want to bet they didn't bring something to their own potluck?
  2. I honestly think that both Leah and Dawn can't live without the drama. Starting it or stirring it, the drama is how they get attention and God knows they love it.
  3. Hawkeyes rule! Badgers drool! Suck it Badgers! And, go Hoosiers! Currently beating Ohio St.
  4. Come on, can't we just all hate on Ohio State? If not, suck it Wisconsin!
  5. At the end of last season she went to music school for the summer.
  6. I successfully put on eyeliner this morning and left the house with it! Big win for me. Only on the upper lid though; under the eye is going to take more practice. Agree on the Importance of Q-Tips. I love the new ones specifically for makeup. They have a tapered tip, which makes them easier to use with precision.
  7. If I wanted to watch 2 teenagers having a baby I would watch Teen Moms. Seriously, the differences between these 2 and the girls and husbands/fathers-but-not-husbands on the Teen Mom shows are not that great. Under-educated teenage parents with no steady job outside of filming their lives - that description is equally valid for both shows.
  8. Me too! I found the lyrics here. The part that I really wanted to know was the chorus: You've got that Daydream Nation look in your eye I got that pent up love thing that you like And we go crashing down, we come back every time We never go out of style, we never go out of style You've got that long brown hair thing that I like You've got that good girl faith and ass so tight And we go crashing down, we come back every time We never go out of style, we never go out of style I am really loving the whole album.
  9. Italian sausages, acorn squash, and red onion roasted together, then sprinkled with Asiago cheese, sage and dried cherries. Very easy and delicious!
  10. Harvard Divinity School would be an eyeopener for Ben! It has a very liberal bent, politically correct, and heavy on social issues and engagement. Granted Ben couldn't possibly get in, but it's amusing to think of him there, what with all of the girls that want to be ministers and the the LGBT folks. True story - I lived just outside of Bentonville AR for a summer before I went to divinity school and worked at Walmart headquarters. On my last day the head of the department warned me not to let the liberals at my liberal divinity school change my (assumed) conservative beliefs and love of the Lord. I assured him that I would remain steadfast. Steadfast in what I did not specify.
  11. I have often contemplated putting up a sign on my desk that says "Don't poke the bear." Not that anyone here would read it, but at least I can say they were warned.
  12. Seminaries are generally associated with a specific denomination, and the majority of folks who attend them intend to be ministers or in a ministry-related job. Theological schools may or may not be associated with a denomination, have a broader focus, and the folks who attend may have career goals that don't involve ministry. I have a master's in theological studies from a divinity school that was non-denominational and seemed to have as many people who were studying non-Christian religions as those who intended to go into Christian ministry. Are they competitive? Like all schools, it depends. Mine was, others not so much. I would be surprised if any of the larger, more recognized seminaries or theological schools accepted someone without an undergraduate degree. Smaller seminaries that are accredited by their denomination only are likely to be the only choice for Ben without a degree.
  13. Apologies to Cowboys fans, but I really want to see this happen. I like watching Tebow cry.
  14. I made chicken enchiladas. Too spicy for me! The husband liked them though, which is good since there are a lot of leftovers.
  15. If it's wrong, I don't want to be right. Also, I will confess to a nostalgic love of Totinos pizza. It's hard to find where I live, but when I brave the local Walmart I always pick one up (and eat it for lunch that day). Oh, one more thing about the 9x13 pan - it won't fit if it has handles. So my regular glass casserole dish won't fit, but a metal brownie pan will.
  16. I second the Breville recommendation. I've got the Smart Oven Pro and it is well worth the $250. It can fit a Totinos Pizza and even comes with a pizza pan. I can bake a casserole in a 9x13 pan with no problem, bake cookies, etc. It's great in the summer because it doesn't heat up the whole kitchen. It's my second favorite kitchen appliance, right behind my Kitchen Aid mixer.
  17. You are not alone in practicing. So far I still haven't left the house with eyeliner, but I'm getting better.
  18. I'd like to think this is sarcasm directed at Leah. I hope someone here posted it.
  19. From Slate's review: "This show is monstrously fetid, a mound of gorgonzola stuffed into a dead catfish’s gullet, smoked in sulfur, doused with heavy cream and left to rot for weeks inside a port-o-potty in full sun.” That actually kinda makes me want to watch it.
  20. Ferentz has been living on borrowed time for a while now. I would not be disappointed to see him go. Ha ha SEC!
  21. If you need an interim step between crime and comedy, I recommend Leverage (again). It's a group of thieves that help people, and it's surprisingly funny.
  22. My user name is from Fargo, one of my favorite movies. I am a Virgo who lives in eastern MA (as long as we're sharing signs and locations).
  23. I find that with my convection toaster oven things cook a bit faster, and more evenly. No other differences that I've noticed. I had to get a new oven last year and since it was 3 days before Thanksgiving I didn't have a lot of choices. I ended up with one with a convection setting but I still haven't tried it.
