  1. Not sure if it's streaming anywhere but the 1 season series "You, Me and the Apocalypse" ** was pretty good, IMO. It was really uneven, ranging from brilliant to batshit crazy and Megan Mullally should never, ever try to do a Southern accent again but it was super fun (and sad and touching) in a way that Salvation isn't anymore. ** Definitely not recommended for those who must always take matters of faith, prophecy and religion seriously.
  2. We knew from the initial casting articles last spring that Alex is gay, so it wasn't a huge leap.
  3. Triangles are a soap basic and I never really minded most of the time because the kind of triangle can tell you a lot about the show. Is the person in the middle really irrelevant or is the person in the middle pitting them against each other for other purposes - they will be completely different stories depending on the actors and the show itself. And how they are resolved can launch other more interesting stories. It's the ones that go on for decades with the same 3 participants that are a drag. B&B isn't the only offender but with such a small cast and only a half hour, it's so much more noticeable. This show really needs a new (old?), powerful family to challenge the Forresters and shift some alliances. Looking back, Spectra 2.0 never had a chance without a man to go up against Ridge or Bill. If PF had stayed, maybe Thomas could have made it work but still, he's related to too many people and too young to throw at Brooke, Katie or Quinn. ETA: soaps used to introduce new core families every so often for just this reason but now it's all about how low can the budgets go.
  4. Just to clarify, the new Michael doesn't appeal to me but I wasn't a huge Brendan Fehr fan either. I liked him in a couple of episodes but that's about it. I'm nowhere near the target demo though, so mileage and all that. :-)
  5. I was kind of iffy on the guy who plays Michael too but liked the rest. Well, the healing scene was a bit over the top. It makes me appreciate how understated the original was in comparison.
  6. I like Classic Who pacing, but then I've been watching since the Tom Baker years. And City of Death really was a romantic getaway for Tom and Lalla - it definitely shows onscreen. :-) ETA: I'm halfway through my BBCA recording. Pretty sure I've seen every version to date. I don't really care for this style of animation though. If they're going to animate it, they should really animate it. Even old Filmation stuff, like ST:TAS is easier to watch.
  7. Also from the same page, looks like they wrapped at the end of May.
  8. I was beginning to think I imagined this show but there has been signs of life, here and there. http://filmmusicreporter.com/2018/06/27/cinemaxs-warrior-to-feature-music-by-h-scott-salinas-reza-safinia/
  9. If they actually put Bill and Steffy together, it could be a good time for some domestic drama that would give Steffy some depth. A health crisis for her or Kelly, where she could really fall in love, not just lust, with Bill. Bill's support could redeem him a bit. Something like they tried to do with CaRidge, after LG's accident? Later on, I'm sure there will be another FC management crisis and scheming opportunity. Not sure JMW could pull it off though. This show is always going to fall flat with her at the center unless something changes. And I can't see them recasting unless she leaves voluntarily.
  10. Yay. Made it thru the first season. The Shaman episode was better than I expected, as it wasn't quite what I expected, if that makes sense. And now I get the whole end of the world thing with the Congressman. I wonder what John Adams is doing these days. Didn't see anything recent in IMDB or a quick Google search.
  11. Interesting choice of studio design. Just the bizarre juxtaposition of the red Solo cup and cigarettes to the Venus of Willendorf style statue makes me shake my head. I have no desire to watch the clips though. Maybe at some point...
  12. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting for the episode but it wasn't this. I really enjoyed it. HJK is such a treat to watch and yeah, I buy Dutch and Johnny's "stronger than friendship or love" partnership. But then I'm a pushover for an origin story. Killjoys has often reminded me of Firefly and it was there again tonight. The world building really works for me. I'm just sad that it was the past. Looking forward to next week and hopefully we'll see what the current situation is.
  13. That was... different. I can't decide if this was real or very weirdly staged. Was this filmed in someone's garage? I'm assuming Roseanne is wealthy enough that her garage is probably bigger (and nicer) than my house.
  14. It's ironic. I wanted to watch this show but my cable sub doesn't have WGN so I can't watch online, the episodes aren't available in iTunes or the Play store and it's only available on expensive ($39 for 12 episodes), out of region dvds. The universe obviously doesn't want me to see it. So it's kind of comforting that the reviews aren't great. But I like DM enough I'd probably still watch it. Oh well.
  15. I think you had to be watching in Britain or via the BBC. Fox in the US didn't air it but it was everywhere online shortly after the UK showed it.
  16. I don't know if any links remain online to the leaked clip but even though it was only few seconds, Jodie felt very much like the Doctor. Though maybe that's why the BBC was so annoyed by it - it messed with their seen but not heard campaign.
  17. A little underwhelming, I thought.* But fall is just around the corner and I'm starting to look forward to new Who. It's been a long time. * I'm not the kind of person who sees sexism everywhere but truthfully, it bothered me on that front.
  18. I'm a little curious if there will be many special effects or CGI. That can have an effect on scheduling too. (Of course, I'd rather they didn't if they can't do them well.)
  19. That's much later than I would have thought for a midseason debut.
  20. I think a lot of us saw Roseanne Season 10/the Revival as kind of a shakedown cruise and were looking forward to what they would come up with once that was out of the way. No one expected to get The Conners but life is like that. I personally feel like it would be a mistake if they go the route of focusing on Darlene. I want to see the whole Conner family pulling together.
  21. With only 10 episodes, Becky getting pregnant could drive a lot of story that isn't based completely on economic despair. She and Jackie could bond, Darlene could offer lots of unsolicited advise, there is pregnancy discrimination in the workplace... and naturally this would be one place you would really miss your mother (if they do kill off RC). Still, I understand why some viewers might prefer a childless Becky. It's a realistic outcome. And I kind of like boozy, sarcastic Becky.
  22. If one cares to look on Twitter, it seems that Stephen Amell (Arrow) saw the pilot before most others. Sigh... Now I want an Arrow/RNM crossover. And I'm not even that much of an Arrow fan anymore.
  23. Random trivia... My husband was watching Have Gun Will Travel tonight and he had me look up the actor (Larry Pennell) who played a young deserter. Perusing IMDB, I saw that he was in Firefly and before I even looked at the episode link, I knew it was Murphy/Shindig. (He also played Clark Gable a lot and was Dash Riprock in the Beverly Hillbillies.)
  24. True. Still, with a 2019 debut I imagine they will be starting soon if they aren't already.
