  1. Blackberry no longer manufactures hardware but they do still produce phones. They're expensive and ugly, so mostly used by executives that still prefer their secure Hub. I can't imagine anyone in fashion using one either, unless they were accountants or something. I've mainly seen Donna in drive-bys (except for arguing with Pam about some kind of receptionist thing when I first started watching), so I'll admit to being a little curious where that goes. I'm not looking forward to revisiting Quidge though.
  2. I'm not sure from the last episode why this reality is the way it is. I'm leaning towards the theory that it's just to keep Johnny happy and away from "saving them all" from The Lady. I don't think Dutch or D'avin's happiness figures into it, if Dutch is unwittingly with John and D'av is searching for his son via a RAC warrant. But just to be clear, when I say the final scene was a gift to the shippers, I mean the writers obviously are aware that D/J have a real fanbase. That way the scene is multi-purpose, fan service (even if they aren't changing the direction of the show to pander to it, a la the CW) and plot service to launch the last season. If TAF retains memories of this AU, then yes, it will raise a ton of issues for the characters to work through. I guess we'll see.
  3. I never shipped Dutch with anyone in the first 3 seasons and other than some quasi-shippy D/J scenes here and there, never thought the show was heading for them or for her and D'av. Honestly, I don't see any romantic chemistry with D/D. Nothing OTP level, anyway and I always thought Dutch deserved an epic romance if they were going to do one. But that's just me. YMMV.
  4. The Lady may know how to tempt people, making a reality from the feelings and memories she sees in their minds but she hasn't really reckoned with Johnny. When he was Hullen he still retained pieces of his humanity, in this episode he walked away from the Pawter illusion and I have no doubt that when he has to make a choice between his fantasy with Dutch and what is real and true, he's going to do the right thing. That may be just enough of an edge for the thief to save them all.
  5. I don't mind the green filter because we desperately need some visual clues as to where we are at any given moment but The Lady doesn't feel real to me without a face and the body switching is just confusing and starting to feel tedious. I'm reduced to mentally superimposing Diana Rigg on the characters when they are channeling her. (Old, imperious, evil - any better actor suggestions for who could play her?) I need to watch the episode again, to sort out the various storylines but the memory loss was an interesting twist. It made me think that whoever wrote it has experience with dementia, because there is real horror in the knowledge that science can cure the physical body but can do nothing to stop the loss of memories.
  6. I stayed up late last night to watch the finale and thought about my earlier comment as that played out. It's obviously really complicated in some ways, as @sjohnson alludes to above (I'm still processing that aspect) but the interesting thing is that for a nano second, Dutch is happy. So maybe I'm going to get my Casablanca ending, because D/J will always have this moment, even if they don't end up together. If it weren't so problematic, I'd wonder if they were trying to give the D/J shippers a small gift. (Before taking the story in a different direction and crushing them entirely.)
  7. She is adorable, that's for sure. and https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2018/09/20/breaking-news-say-hello-to-stargirl
  8. I believe you can separate the art from the artist, mostly but it takes time - sometimes a lifetime. There is plenty of art that was created by horrible people but outlives its creators and eventually stands on its own merits.. And film/tv is a collaborative art. Roseanne Barr didn't create Roseanne Conner all by herself. Writers, directors, other actors all influenced the show. She ruined it all on her own though. It remains to be seen how the writers handle things. We'll find out in a month.
  9. I didn't exactly say he was out of line. Just that the way he left, leaving the impression she was a bad influence on Jac. A few other things that I'd need to rewatch to specify. Maybe it's idea of a kinder, gentler Dutch. Ah well, next time I see something specific, I'll make a note of it.
  10. I saw it the way you do until the last couple of episodes. I put most of it down to sudden fatherhood but it still grated.
  11. My husband was watching this morning when I walked in the room and asked if it was Prom Week or something. I didn't know about the Emmy until then. Well deserved. And someone won Pay the Rent, too. :-)
  12. Well, it could be done but there's no indication that the show will ever go there. One thing about that was unique about John Crichton and Aeryn Sun is that I never felt like he tried to change who she was at her core (except for the trusting/loving him thing) so it made the romance much more palatable. D'av isn't shy about trying to change Dutch, for her own good of course. There's something about it that annoys me.
  13. I have a lot of sympathy for the J/D shippers, because HJK and AA do have something that sparkles on my television screen. But I don't really think either brother has sexual chemistry with Dutch, if that makes sense. D'avin is more her equal when it comes to fighting and overall on paper but I don't find them compelling as a couple. Obviously mileage varies considerably but D'av kind of makes Dutch boring. But then I'm not usually a fan of romance in my space opera. It's hard to do well.
  14. Yep. The first one is one of the few females Johnny has met in ages, not really a possibility. The other 2 names - that was just me answering the question of who Alice and the ex-scarback were. Though I believe John did like "Alice" a lot. And her owner, of course. :-) -- I hate to say it but I could see Aneela being a temptation that John might not be able to resist, especially if she was intentionally channeling Dutch.
  15. The childhood sweetheart from the last episode might have been a contender, except for the kids and the betrayal thing. But yeah, unless they run into a ship full of hackmods, I'm not sure who there is for him. Wasn't Alice Clara's gun arm? The ex-Scarback is Fairuza.
  16. It's good that DJ and family will be getting more screen time. (Though it makes no sense for anyone to blame the current cast of The Conners for Roseanne's absence. I'm sorry they have to put up with that.)
  17. If you follow the shows in audio podcast form, TRMS never includes the hand-off but the LOD always does.
  18. Right, I remember that but until they had the fight over Dutch training Jaq like Khlyen had trained her, I don't remember any mentions of a romance, other than the FWB thing. That was the point that confused me. Because after that, they treat D/D as a full blown couple. If D/D really is endgame, I wish they would have saved it until the last half of the next season.
  19. Definitively think they are working up to another major life change for Johnny. (Not that I think J/D are toxic, just that they are on different paths now.) So, Weeg. They got me there. Was expecting Pip going out a hero, so that was okay. Always nice to see a Scarback moment, even a former Scarback. Still, for a penultimate episode, I was a little underwhelmed. Maybe it was because I had to watch episodes 408 and 409 back to back and it kind of changed the dynamic.. Also, I don't mind Jaq but calling him the heir started a chain reaction by reminding me of BSG's Hera and then there was Zeph channeling Firefly's Kaylee. Dutch and D'av are now Aeryn Sun and John Crichton (Farscape). Thankfully, Turin and Fancy made it feel more Killjoys-y than a random amalgamated scifi show.
  20. I was late catching up with last week's episode and then with tonight... when did D/D go from friends with benefits to having a relationship? Not sure I was pulling for Z/D so much as thinking the show might have paved the way for it. But yeah, things have gotten messy now. Funny how in an episode or two every damn thing can get completely upended.
  21. I get what everyone is saying about Larry but without him, the show would have been unbalanced IMO. Larry and Don were both sides of Charlie's journey. What the show did well was giving them their own journeys alongside him. And while I don't know any true geniuses (in the cosmic sense - I do know some rocket scientists and plenty of engineers with Mensa busting IQs), I can go along with the idea that they don't fit very well into normal society. A related observation from my last rewatch is that I used to enjoy the various conspiracy theory scenes more. It wasn't quite as fun the last time around.
  22. I always thought that was what we were supposed to do, be annoyed with Millie for daring to criticize our heroes and then gradually realize that she was right more often than not. Though my favorite Millie moments were when she would get caught up in the case in spite of herself. Like the genealogy of cattle. :-)
  23. I didn't mind Millie. Though I didn't really like her the first time through, she grew on me. But we love Larry in our household. And Megan. About the only regular I didn't care so much for was Liz. Or anything related to Don's relationships, for that matter. (Robin was fine in her own right.) Charlie's hair deserved its own place in the credits.
  24. Not much to see but hopefully we get more soon. https://vimeo.com/286561632
  25. Oh, yeah. Ian wasn't on nearly enough but then it would have been kind of hard to work a sniper into an average episode. :-)
