  1. We are so getting an Alexis has a drinking problem story. Lucas, with or without Brad, not being his sister's wedding was really dumb. I've gone from a little pissed to a full on rage blackout regarding how much this character has been marginalized. Lucas Jones should have a story, be shown working at the hospital, have scenes from his new marriage and so forth - not on some off screen summer long honeymoon.
  2. Oh Buddig. If you're going to go Star Wars then you don't misquote Yoda. No -ing ending, sweetie. Yeah, that was my take away from today's sterling episode. And the next time Carly does that laugh could someone throat punch her? Please?
  3. This is the stupidest thing to have ever stupided on this show. I can't wait (oh yes I can) for the scene where she tells Laura she's having Stavros's baby. And Laura gets to say, "Well, so did I! So dear daughter, are you out of your fucking mind?" And Dante looks super thrilled. I actually liked his facial expressions; as if he didn't recognize Lulu and she was some pod person. And WTF would Paul's motive be? He'll get to shout that someone at GH did something to "MY DAUGHTER SUSAN! I had to bring the hospital DOWN!" So, so much stupid.
  4. I know it's not mentioned much, or at all really, but for some reason I really liked The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother and Gene Wilder as Sigerson Holmes. The iconic roles in Willy Wonka, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silver Streak - of course. Can't explain it, I just loved Sigerson. RIP Mr. Wilder.
  5. And I'd be doing the same. I actually haven't decided if I'll see it. I still haven't recovered from My Dog Skip and that was 16 or 17 years ago!
  6. I've read back five pages in the thread, so am hoping I'm not repeating. I think Michael B. Jordan is the real deal and, if he makes good choices, could have a long career and is likely to win an Oscar at some point. And when I say long career, I mean Denzel or Tom Hanks long; he's already more of a character actor than many his age. As for Jennifer Lawrence, I think her career so far has involved a lot of luck. First, that her start was in a bad sitcom and it was quickly cancelled so she wasn't trapped in a long TV contract. Second; getting the Hunger Games franchise. So far she is making good role decisions, but I'm still unsure of her range. And I didn't get the Oscar nomination for Joy at all. She's a time will tell story to me.
  7. I've seen two trailers this weekend and I guess I'm a total softie - they both had me in tears. (Though one is about dogs and those will get me every time.) Lion, starring Dev Patel (looks like it might be good) A Dog's Purpose - Could be a schmaltzy tearjerker and nothing more - hard to tell)
  8. There are some that likely look better with makeup, myself included. Alicia? I think she looked beautiful.
  9. I think I liked this season better than the first. There seemed to be a definite journey for all of them that involved letting go. Alex finally let go of his lost love and his sister (with her moving out of his house, the last going to therapy scene). Laura at last began to let go of her fear of intimacy with her leaving the movies for Spencer which indicated to me that she could be with someone who was going to live. Val let go of Drew and her marriage, and told Alex enough - he has to fix himself. The big letting go involving the parents - helping Dad die and then not going after the mother, acknowledging she had made her choice. It was a slow start but I like where we ended up. Agreed. I feel like each character, in their own way, has a new beginning. I want to see more of Leia; I think she could be interesting. And I really do adore Leon.
  10. I'm having my own day of mourning for the end of The Tragically Hip. I still have Courage (For Hugh MacLennan) on my favorites playlist, along with a few other songs. Gord Downie having terminal brain cancer, the farewell show tonight... I've been feeling teary all day. I found their music in the 90's and have been listening ever since.
  11. Nope, I'm right there with you. I do think, at least for now, that the end game couple is Kiki [Lauren] and Dillon and Morgan is the obstacle. They seem to be trying to make her grow up. Finally. Morgan, with the apartment BS and emotional guilt trips, not so much.
  12. And going even further back, I never felt any chemistry with Troi and Riker. Third. I Netflixed this last year so I was completely spoiled. Ted was Anti-chemistry personified , especially with Robin.
  13. I have no idea why, but Tom Bergeron. I just can't listen to or watch him. He seems like a nice person, in fact, extremely nice. But I just can't with him. This is from a few episodes of AFHV (which, granted I found stupid so I bailed.) I'm not a DWTS watcher. Kelly Ripa. Her entire talk show existence is such a WTF for me.
  14. Kill Ryan Shag Carlos Marry Kevin Tiffany Hill Cheryl Stansbury Katherine Delafield
  15. I was looking for some innocuous lunchtime TV, came across Reba and thought "why the hell not?" Nope, not even close to being a great show, but I will say it can be a good one. I've seen about two weeks of shows now, coming in somewhere in the middle (I think.) The guy who played Van has made me laugh a few times, as has the occasional weirdness from Barbara Jean. As for Reba M., I thought she would be horrible, but she has decent timing and delivery. I knew I liked it when they skewered the trope of people talking in the living room not being overheard by others in the kitchen and skewered it well. I can't even claim to be ashamed, because I'm actually not. It's cute.
  16. Heh. I forgot Jason and Sam were there. The Cassadine Island story does leave something to be desired (pacing ... an actual sense of tension...) but I'm okay with it. Genie has actually been on almost every day for the past couple of weeks. With Kevin! Which makes me smile. Luke who?
  17. JVP did a great job. Before he was even two lines in it was as if Carlos had disappeared. The difference in his physicality right down to his posture, a different walk, his reactions and listening shots. Even the way he held his head. I was impressed. He's already Joe, a new doctor, to me so I'm glad we get to keep JVP around. I'm late on this from yesterday - Way to go on the emotional blackmail, Morgan! And that it was for sex doesn't make it creepy at all! Speaking of creepy, I agree with everyone about Kristina and Parker. So is she looking for a Mommy figure? Because that's how it came off to me. And I don't think I'd call her a cheater just yet; she and Aaron haven't declared exclusivity, or that they are even serious. I think they were calling their time together "whatever this turns out to be."
  18. I think Ted Danson has been robbed most of his TV career. I so would have given him a nomination for Season 2 of Bored to Death, and two more wins for Cheers (Seasons 3 and 5 in particular.) I understand how hard it must be to give everyone their due; there is so much freaking TV now! And, yes, I watch too much of it. I'm undecided. I enjoy Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee but I'm not sure about the Emmy nod. But, boy, it must suck to be Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah today.
  19. Happy to see a Jesse Plemons nomination for Fargo; I've admired and liked him since FNL. As a Veep watcher I'm obviously quite satisfied there. Other nominations I'm glad for are Judith Light, Lily Tomlin, Titus Burgess and Andre Braugher. It's a shame that Jason Sudeikis was disqualified for a nomination; I would have liked to see him get one as supporting for Last Man on Earth. But a lesson learned for show runners - read the rules! http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/jason-sudeikis-emmy-the-last-man-on-earth-1201796424/
  20. Congratulations to Anthony Mendez, our Narrator / Latin Lover Narrator, on his Emmy Nomination! http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-st-emmy-nominations-live-updates-jane-the-virgin-cast-congratulate-1468515108-htmlstory.html
  21. While the story of leaving baby Ben on the bus is not one of my favorites, that episode has the line: "What kind of scary-assed clowns came to your birthday parties?" I laugh way too loud and long at that. Every single time.
  22. Shag Garcia Marry Taggert Kill Cruz Justice Ward Joe Kelly Jeff Webber
  23. What is this new name = fresh start bullshit? First Hayden/Rebecca now CJ/Claudette (her last name.) I'd like a fresh start to my weekend. I think I'll start changing my name on the occasional Friday. I didn't see the previews but please let anyone other than Sonny save Alexis and/or kill Julian. Let Sonny keep basking in the glow of the fireworks he paid for. Which was another huge WTF. The previous episode: I like Laura Wright but please stop the asinine, end of scene giggles. It's just irritating. ETA: Oh! I almost forgot my Nina giving Curtis a job rant. They're going to hook up Curtis and Nina, aren't they? Noooooooooooooooooooooo! He's so beautiful! He's one of the guys on GH I really and truly like! Please don't ruin Curtis for me! Maybe it'll be okay? Somehow the wonderfulness that is Curtis will make watching Nina bearable? It could happen, right? *cries*
  24. I'm still trying to process this season's finale; that did not go in any way I could have expected. JLD is so amazing. I think my favorite part was Selina just sitting quietly on the bench, taking it all in and trying to let go. My second favorite part was Richard and his hot interns. It was so brief but a made-over Catherine looked beautiful. Even her posture was better! Grandmother's money is beginning to work its changes, I think. I hope that speculation doesn't count as a spoiler, since I know absolutely nothing but what I see on the screen. That said, I think one possible way for them to keep the cast together is to have next season be a prequel. How they came together and Selina's first run at the White House. JLD seems to be incapable of aging so that wouldn't stretch credibility, IMO. I think I'm still processing. And I'm ready for the next season now.
