I watch on tv. Dh likes to go to games, but we're four hours away and have to deal with Hampton Roads and northern Virginia traffic to go to games. It's always a last minute thing to go to a game. He's been gone so much this summer and will miss the first half of next season, that he was hoping to go to a playoff game.

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy
StaceyNotStacie replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
Maybe she volunteered to hold Meredith just to avoid chasing after the older kids. Also, she might get some adult interaction holding her since many people might want to sneak a peek at the new baby. -
I'm so disgusted after watching that Nationals game. They really have to do something about their relief pitchers. Their bullpen seems to blow every important game. I'm watching MASN and the announcers are even calling the bullpen out. I'm hopeful, but I have a feeling that the season is over for the Nationals. I don't have a lot of confidence in Strasburg tomorrow (he's just as inconsistent as the bullpen) and I don't think they can get enough wins that coincide with Mets losses to catch up. At least I'll save money next month since the hubby won't be able to go to any playoff games.

I didn't hate it. It was great having Joy back. I've always enjoyed Paula on GMA and thought she did well on the View. I've only seen Michelle a few times, but she didn't annoy me. I have mixed feelings on Candace. There are times where I like her and there are times she gets on my last nerve. I was glad that she didn't get involved in the marriage certificate discussion, although I'm wondering if that was her choice or the producer's choice (not wanting major controversy on the first day back). I liked Elizabeth Warren. I hope that we will see her again or that we get more guests like her on the show.

I'm not sure if they will fire him. I think it depends if they finish the season with a winning record. We're not from DC; we're from the Hampton Roads area and the only reason we became Nationals fans is because MASN was showing the games and we've always been NL fans (Dh is a former Mets fan [dropped the team when they started signing a bunch of overpriced washed up players] and I'm originally from NE PA, so I've somewhat followed the Phillies). Dh jumped on the bandwagon when Strasburg came along and was hooked after his first visit to the stadium. Aside from what shows up on my FB feed, I really don't follow the behind the scenes stuff on the Nationals. Williams was given a pretty good team when Davey Johnson retired, but there's only so much that he can do. He can't throw or hit the ball from the dugout. I think they need to start phasing out Werth and Span and let some of the younger guys play; Taylor, Robinson, and the other bench guys did a great job last month before everyone came back. They really need to get their pitching under control. Their starters and middle guys have been inconsistent. I like Pappelbon as a closer. I think they made a mistake trading and not trying to get Clippard back earlier this year during the trading deadline. Their previous closers, not including Storen, were so inconsistent, especially Soriano. If they finish below .500, he deserves to go. If they have a winning record and keep it competitive until the final 3 games, I think he deserves to stay one more season to see what he can do with a healthy team. If they're healthy all next season and they still can't clinch or make it past the first round of the playoffs, then maybe they should look elsewhere for a manager.

If Ben wants a 4-year degree, I'm sure he could find a religious themed college with married family housing (and financial aid). I live close to Regent University (founded by Pat Robertson) and although I don't think Ben could handle that particular university, it does have apartments and such for students with families.

The Nats are absolutely aggravating. A bunch of missed opportunities and stupid mistakes that blow up in their faces, along with the numerous injuries. Their starting pitchers usually can't get any run support (they can have tons of strikeouts and only give up one or two runs, but the Nationals can't score enough runs for their pitchers to get wins) and although their closers might have good numbers, they're just not consistent. Storen is just the most recent of Nationals closing pitchers who have had inconsistent save sessions. As far back as they are now, I still won't count them out. They have six more games against the Mets this season (including the last 3 games of the season) and almost all of their remaining games are against the NL East. If they can get a good winning streak going, stay healthy, and get wins that coincide with Mets losses, I think they might still have a chance. If they can't pick up any games against the Mets next week, they're pretty much screwed.

I don't know what to think of Nattie. She's a pretty girl, but she's never going to have the "supermodel" look that the Bellas or some of the other Divas have. I think that the WWE likes her because of her Hart lineage. They seem to think that she is a hard worker and a lot of people respond well to her in person. Despite her antics, most of the time, she seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Sometimes I wonder if the WWE is apprehensive towards her because of the difficulties that her father has had. If you have the time, I recommend reading the autobiography that Bret Hart wrote. It's a bit long, but very interesting. A lot of stuff in there about 80s and 90s wrestling. There's not much about Nattie, but her parents are mentioned in it. The Ellie that Bret wrote about in his autobiography does not seem like the same person that we see on Total Divas.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
StaceyNotStacie replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
The Zaxby salad boys are getting on my last nerve. I don't know who they are or if they're actually famous, but I want to smack them for bickering over a fast food salad. -

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
StaceyNotStacie replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Isn't there a show for reality TV couples with relationship issues? Maybe he and Anna can go on there. -
Wasn't expecting that one. I'm surprised, but not surprised. I'm guessing this will be one of the featured stories on all of the morning shows tomorrow morning. Between this and the molestation scandal, I'm wondering who will play Josh, Anna, JB, and Michelle when they eventually make the ripped from the headlines version of the story on L&O SVU.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
StaceyNotStacie replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
I'm starting to get annoyed with the Walmart commercial with the group of women shopping for eyeglasses and they run into Drew Barrymore. As someone who has purchased eyeglasses at Walmart, it's not the exciting shopping trip with girlfriends that they make it out to be, especially when there are probably about six customers waiting to be helped by one of the probably two employees working in that department at a time. -
Which Other Reality Shows Should Get The UnREAL Treatment?
StaceyNotStacie replied to Primetimer's topic in UnREAL [V]
I'd love to see them take on one of those TLC shows. I wonder how some of these characters would react if they were constantly surrounded by children or some of the other "characters" on these reality shows. Otherwise, after watching this season's run of Food Network Star, I wouldn't mind them parody a cooking competition show. -
What's Wrong With This Show, And How To Fix It.
StaceyNotStacie replied to iggysaurus's topic in Food Network Star
I wish they would do an All-Stars season of this show with contestants from previous seasons. I'm guessing that a few of them have had a lot more television exposure since they originally competed on the show, so the contestants wouldn't be as awkward on camera. -
My 12-year-old is a big fan of Cici's, but mostly eats the pasta. I'm the only one in my household that likes veggie pizza, so I can eat the zesty veggie pizza without having to order a second pizza for the rest of the family. There are so many different pizzas on the buffet, that Eddie was pretty smart to go with the dessert pizza since there are only a handful of options.
-
I was glad to see Emilia go. I had started to like her over the past few weeks, but this week was a bit too much. Hopefully Michelle will go next, but I have a feeling that the next few weeks will be all male eliminations to balance things out. I thought Eddie was smart to go with the dessert pizza. Cici's has so many pizzas on their buffet that a regular pizza probably would have blended in with the other pizzas that Cici's offers. At least the dessert pizza will stand out a bit more.

Star Salvation & Episode Previews Talk
StaceyNotStacie replied to Kromm's topic in Food Network Star
This made me laugh. They should have had a counter on the bottom of the screen to see how many times she said it. I usually don't watch the online segments, but this was On Demand, so I watched. I thought that Matthew wasn't as bad on this as he was in the first two episodes of FNS. I also liked Christine, the first eliminated contestant. Depending on how the other eliminated contestants do in the competition, based on how much that Alex and Jeff liked them, I wouldn't be surprised if either one of them came back later in the competition. -
Everyone has pretty much already said what I thought of the episode. I wasn't sorry to see Rosa go, but I would have been just as happy to see Michelle eliminated. I just don't care for either one. I'm glad that Dom was not eliminated. He seemed like a little kid whining about the rib eye, but he seems like a nice guy with decent cooking skills. When the judges mentioned how well Jay did with the rib eye, I expected Dom to turn to Jay and say "you're welcome" in a sarcastic tone. The editing was somewhat interesting in this episode. They made it look like everyone either had bad food or a bad presentation and that any of them could be eliminated. I'm guessing that if the one team had not won the coin challenge, Arnold or Alex would have been in the bottom 3. I was also surprised that Bobby Deen didn't stay around for the final segment; the other guests have stayed around for the elimination segment.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
StaceyNotStacie replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
I don't get the Ford commercial with "Fight Song" playing in the background. When I hear that song, I don't think "I just have to go out and buy a Ford so I can be a super successful businesswoman". -
I agree that there were too many stories going on at once. There were so many characters in this that the only reason I was able to keep track of them was because I was familiar with the actors. I did like the last few minutes where they had the actors and the real people with short summaries of each character. I did enjoy this. I'm an East Coast girl who has grown up with tons of colonial history (especially Virginia and Pennsylvania history), so this was something new for me.
-
I wasn't surprised that Matthew went home, but I was surprised as to how he was eliminated. Sita and Emilia were equally as bad. I really liked Dom and Eddie, and the sandwich guy wasn't too bad. I also liked Rue. I've got mixed feelings on Rosa. She had a bit of a Real Housewives vibe to her. I'm undecided on Michelle. Everyone kept on saying she was so likable, but her "likable" personality looks like it might get old real fast.

When Calls The Heart - General Discussion
StaceyNotStacie replied to maraleia's topic in When Calls The Heart
I liked the Jack and Elizabeth stuff and all of the Hope Valley stuff. I could do without the Jack Wagner character and the Thatcher family. I'm hoping that the pastor won't turn out to be a slime ball; I really like him with Abigail. Rosemary has grown on me and I like her relationship with Lee. I hope we don't have to wait an entire year for another season of this show.
