I don’t really see Sleepy Hollow as being racist. Yes the show did get rid of some POC, but also replaced them with POC. I think part of the problem was that the show runners had a vision that didn’t acknowledge what the audience enjoyed, which was Crane’s and Abbie’s relationship. In the original story, Crane was determined to win over Katrina from Headless and I think the show runners may have thought they could pull that off, not realizing that Abbie and Crane were the real draw. Whatever happened behind the scenes, I have no idea, but it is obvious that a lot of miscommunication was going on and wires were crossed, and the show unfortunately lost a great actor in Nicole Beharie and another in Orlando Jones.

I’m not really enjoying the show so far this season. I’m not sure if it is because we are getting too much behind-the-scenes drama and not enough development of the suitor/contestants or just that novelty has worn off. Whatever the case, I’ll likely continue to watch since there is not much going on for me with TV right now and the fact that I find Shiri fascinating to watch, but it’s definitely not as riveting for me as last season was.

I’m glad to see this show back. I didn’t realize it was on until I logged into PTV and saw the show title in orange and bolded. Thank goodness because my summer show TV plate has been slim pickings so far. I was a little puzzled about the scenes with Emma and Charlie being at the crime scene since we know things didn’t go down that way, and it will be interesting to see how the show runners tie this in. I think Hodiak is great character, but most of my love so far is going to Charmain and Shafe who are really putting themselves out there in the scheme of things. I am impressed that this show is both dark and funny at the same time. Charmain telling Shafe about her cover story about him to Roy was gold. I am glad that it looks like Claire Holt will have a meatier role this season.

I believe it. She seems easy to manipulate. I see Evan being one of them, heh!

I am still not sure I understand. I don't think he could disallow people public access to state land. It seemed like he just didn't want people using his property as a shortcut to get there. Dick move? Perhaps, but well within his rights. Or did I miss something?

I thought this one was a bit boring. There was no mystery, someone shot at someone and someone is dead. I feel strongly that the shooter was guilty. It is obvious he was itching to shoot someone, What I don't understand is why his (neighbor) victim decided to antagonize him. If Joe Campbell bought the land fair and square, why should anyone feel like they have the right to dispute that?

I remember, a few years ago, one of the B-ettes talking with Reality Steve about this. She basically said nothing that came out of her mouth translated onto the screen in the context it was said. I just googled this, and there is a link about someone named Megan from Jason's season giving a lengthy interview with RS. I don't visit his website anymore because his site and my computer have been at odds, but I think this is the article I am thinking of.

I see a little bit of a love story between Chad and Alex: Chad: "I'm not happy with you." Alex: "What!" Chad: "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed." Me: Awww...tell me these two aren't in love!

Tessa from Andy Baldwin's season "won" the 2-on-1 and went on to become F1 in season 10, leaving behind Peyton Wright who was left on a ship's deck while Andy and Tessa flew away in a helicopter. Ironically, she went on to marry Chris Lambert who was F2 at From Ali's season on the TB-ette.

We will have to agree to disagree, because I am certain, that more than one of those guys have interrupted another's time, but the producers have decided that Chad is the heel in all of this, which is why I said I wish I could have seen the behind-the-scene stuff going on. I agree, he talks smack to the producers, which is why I said he had a superiority complex, but when he is in the house, he eats and says what he thinks, and the other go after him, not vice versa.
-
I would love to see the behind-the-scenes for this show. It’s so obvious they are making Chad out to be the villain, but he is just an individual with a superiority complex, which he does not make a secret of, and of course does not come off well. He doesn’t really start shit, but almost everyone feels they need to take it upon themselves to either push his buttons or, at the very least, express their dislike of him. I can almost hear the producers whispering to the other contestants, “he thinks he is better than you, go shake a stick at him.”

I’m keeping my eye on Madison too. She is definitely wet behind the ears, but I also think she is more savvy than she has let on.

All testosterone, no substance. I find Chad slightly entertaining but he is not all that!

I liked Christa and Neal as individuals but was not very invested in their relationship, especially once the ever-dreaded love triangle was revealed. The thing that irks me is that they are just dismissed without a thought. For crying out loud, you introduced this story, so give their story an ending. Why is that too much to ask?

Chad is okay in small doses but his schtick started to get old. He did more talking-heads than anyone, it seemed. He does bring the drama and the funny though. He is apparently supposed to be this season’s villain, but I cannot stand whiny Alex, who just can’t seem to talk about anything other than how much he hates him. Get over it already!

Small Talk: How Not To Get Caught Dead With Dirty Underwear
Fable replied to tobeannounced's topic in Dateline
I know there is a most memorable episode thread, but I was thinking along the lines of a recent episode thread the way 48 hours does as opposed to having a dedicated thread (seeming we may have lost our mod) for each and every episode. Not every episode is most memorable and people may just want to post and/or view the current content...just saying -
The Cal Harris ordeal had my interest. I truly thought he was creepy, yet I could not convince myself that he was guilty. I think the judge made the right call at Not Guilty!

Small Talk: How Not To Get Caught Dead With Dirty Underwear
Fable replied to tobeannounced's topic in Dateline
I have not noticed much activity in this forum lately. Would it be best to start an all episode talk thread as opposed to an individual episode thread? Our mod seems to have gone AWOL too...Anyone have suggestions? -
The Hodor stuff was convoluted and weird, and I hated it. I guess if I want to put on my abstract thinking hat, I could sort it out, but I prefer narratives to be straight forward.

I was starting to wonder if there might be a time jump next season if the show runners intend for the show to end around the same time as the movie Psycho began. To my recollection (granted it's been a long time), Norma had been dead quite a while by the time Marion Crane checked into Bates Motel. To be honest, I hope not because I'd really like to see the aftermath of Norma's death and it's effect on the remaining characters central to the series. I'd hate to learn what became of Romero, Dylan and Emma through an exposition dump. I'd rather to see it played out on screen.

No matter how creepy this show gets, I love that they always manage to insert some dark comedy. The scene with Chick was especially funny as was the one with Norman losing his shit in the middle of the eulogy. I felt badly for Dylan. He looked so hurt and puzzled when Norman shut him out, even though he likely just dodged a bullet. I wonder how he is going to react to the news of Norma's death. It's going to be difficult to watch this show next season now that Norma is gone. The Norma/Norman relationship was really the heart and soul of this series, and as great of job as Freddie doing, I just don't know how interesting it will be without the dynamic Norma and Norman brought to the show. Thankfully it will only be 10 episodes, time enough to wrap up the loose ends with Dylan, Emma and Romero.
-
Sansa and Jon for the win! It wasn’t really the hug that got me so much as the dynamic afterwards. I appreciated that Sansa acknowledged her prior cold attitude toward him but they both accepted the awkwardness of the situation and still were able to bond over their tragic past. I know a lot of people wanted to see Jon and Arya, but I think Jon and Sansa was powerful in that they were never close, but family was their bond, and they were Starks Ride or Die!

I always found Norma to be one of the most interesting, if not the most interesting, characters on the show, but I think I'm starting to hope the Norma is well and truly dead. At least she had a peaceful ending which I think was richly deserved. In spite of her shortcomings and delusions, she always tried to make the best of things and certainly was fiercely loyal to the people in her circle. She also manged to find someone in Romero who loved and accepted her unconditionally, which I think is her only real success story. Bringing her back would probably make things too murky and complicated. Her relationships with Alex and Dylan would be too tarnished to recover from, and she would have to accept, to some degree, that Norman really was damaged beyond reasonable repair. That, in and off itself, might have put her over the edge and caused her to contemplate suicide. I think it was a fitting ending to the character, but Lord knows, I will miss her.
-
As soon as the episode started airing, I had a deep sense of impending doom, but I had nothing to put my finger on. I never imagined it was going to end with Norma's death. At first, I was in blind denial and refused to accept it, but after processing and calming down a bit, I guess it makes perfect sense. If she is, in fact, still alive, wouldn't she finally have to admit that Norman is genuinely dangerous? Although, considering the fact that he held on gun on her several episodes back and she still couldn't see it, maybe not. I'm not looking forward to rest of the series without Norma even though I'm sure Vera will continue on as Mother. I think Norma is so much more layered and interesting than Mother, and if she really is gone, I will really miss her presence.

I'm not even sure how this guy got a manslaughter charge. Even if the jury wasn't allowed to see the footage of this clown in the minutes after he was picked up, they had to realize he never bothered to call 911, tried to get rid of the alcohol and put the gun back in the closet. There is no excuse for that. So what if there was reasonable doubt about the gun accidentally discharging, it was clear he didn't give a shit about the welfare of his wife. Of course, we don't see what the jury sees and they don't see what we see but, damn, it seemed so open and shut to me
