S03.E14: He Made A Terrible Mistake / S03.E15: Wes
Fable replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
Agreed. They have been close for a long time, and I don't see why that affection could not have transferred into love once they hooked up. -
The Emma/Caleb conversation didn’t work for me. Dylan will have to live a lie with his daughter whether Caleb is in the picture or not. Yeah, probably easier if he is not around, but it doesn’t change the facts. While it is true that Caleb being around might raise questions, he can’t just pass off some random story about her grandfather without telling a lie. I do love Emma though for putting the hammer down without getting Dylan to have to make an impossible decision.

I also find it odd that so much time has passed (apparently 18 months) and Dylan still has had no contact with Norman and has no idea Norma is dead. Does he even know what became of Romero? He knew that he and Norma were married, right? I too think Caleb will be the one to figure out something is off at Bates Motel and will call it to Dylan’s attention. I don’t think Caleb is long for this world, and I’m very worried for Dylan as well.

LSSC: Season Two Episode Talk
Fable replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
I know what you're saying, but really, he is a comedian, and I'm sure Jon meant it to be taken as a joke, not something serious. Who in their right mind ever thought this would have happened?- 367 replies

Hear, hear! I find the story iffy, but whatever. If that is how he gets his freak on, alrighty then. I appreciate the humor behind it though because there is so little to laugh at right now. I am so glad Sam is back, because I really need more comic relief.

I am curious, does anyone know if there are plans to stream other early seasons? -
S02.E09: The Brother / S02.E10: The Truth
Fable replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Secrets And Lies [V]
To be fair, everyone in that family turned out bad except for, of course, Eric and his "saintly" wife. -
This case enraged me. I don’t really lay any blame at the feet of the parents, but I’m willing to bet the cops and the prosecutor knew damn well they had no case. However, since they needed feathers in their caps they rushed to move forward with it.

Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect
Fable replied to Notwisconsin's topic in Current Events & Politics
I don’t even know where to post this, but I am so downhearted right now. Every single member of my family supported Trump as well as most of my good friends. I can accept that people disagree, but for the first time, I find that I feel the need to disengage from some of the people I have been close to. I am starting to wonder if I ever knew them. Since the election, I have had so many varying emotional reactions. There are days when I cannot watch the news at all, and other days where I frantically search for anything I can get my hands on to help me understand what is happening. Also, for the first time, I am truly scared. People that I thought of as intelligent and reasonable seem to have been hypnotized or mesmerized by a master of illusion. I don’t consider myself an affiliate of either party and by no means do I even pretend to know the ins and outs of politics, but the blatant denials from people who heard what Trump said and yet voted for him is downright terrifying. I try to understand each side, and I agree we have our problems, and we always will, but I don’t think throwing the baby out with the bathwater is a great plan. I view it this way: We are considering buying a home where the doorbell doesn’t work, part of the roof needs replacing and the carpet is frayed all around the house. Obviously we need to prioritize and figure out which issue we should tackle first, but then along comes the next buyer who says, fuck it, let’s just burn it down because it isn’t worth fixing.- 8.1k replies

I don't live there anymore, and I wasn't disagreeing about their idiocy. I just don't agree it is always about race. I think they just don't care who or what they mess with.
-
I don't agree with this. I lived in Warren for most of my life. They don't care what race anyone is. They just like to pick on the little people who cannot afford to defend themselves. Not necessarily racist, just ugly people!.

The last paragraph of that article says it all!

On the surface, she may look average to many people, but upon meeting her they might see something else. Personality can color a person’s impression of the attractiveness of another person. It might be that she was very outgoing, charismatic and witty. There is really no way to capture that in a photo.

....and so it begins!

I see a lot of people are not enjoying this season, but I think I like it better than season 1. Ben drove me up a wall. While it does annoy me a bit that Kate is constantly cast as an angel, I like the characters and the motivations better than last season. I'm looking forward to see how this season plays out.

Rhodes Scholar Reporting the News Show Discussion
Fable replied to maraleia's topic in The Rachel Maddow Show
I don't watch this show regularly, but I never got the impression Rachel was biased against Bernie. I don't know that Bernie could have won against Trump either, but I wonder if voter turnout may have been higher and third-party votes may have been lower. -
Wow!! While I can sometimes be somewhat sympathetic to the parents of criminals who come for these interviews for these shows, this woman made my eyes roll back so far in my head, I thought they were going to get stuck there. I also agree with the poster above who didn’t see a tear in her fake crying eyes. What a piece of work!

This episode must have been heavily edited because I cannot believe some of the things were left out, not the least of which is why no effort was made to get drinking water for the inmates. I find it hard to believe none of the participants asked about that. With regard to Ashleigh and Zac, there are no words except for What.A.Mess! Ryan annoyed me, but the way Noel and Maples reacted to him was demeaning. I understand running a “store” on a credit system could have gone south, but all he was doing was trading things for other things. What’s the harm? Brian really had no choice but to leave. Once he was called bitch, the only other option was to pick a fight and then have charges brought against him. This is something that should have been brought up while the participants were training. I know they were told never to call anyone bitch, but what were they supposed to do if they got called one?

I wish people would stop with the “not my president” crap. I didn’t like him and didn’t vote for him, but legally and lawfully, he has won the presidency. Many of us think he is a buffoon, and I can’t disagree, but in refusing to accept the results of the election, that is acting just like he and his devotees did, and many were horrified by it. He is your freaking President, and while I am saddened and sorrowful, that is a fact. The Clinton party was graceful in defeat, and we should be the same. If you have a problem with the way things are, by all means protest, petition, write/call your congress, make your voice heard in every possible (peaceful) way, but behaving like the voices you are protesting against is not helping things. We are still Americans, and we all want America to Remain Great Forever.

I don't get the whole Lana thing coming up. Wasn't Asylum supposed to be in 1960s or so? Assuming she was in her 20s at the time, wouldn't she be nearing 70s or 80s by now. In the promos, she certainly doesn't look very old.

TDS 3.0: Season Two Talk
Fable replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
I watched some of the show on the Comedy Central website this morning, but for reasons unknown, I was unable to get the bit with Michelle to play, so I just went back and watched it a few minutes ago. I hadn’t shed a tear since the news broke that Trump had won (I did, however, vomit, and that is not a lie). I felt like crying, but the tears wouldn’t come, I think I was just too dazed. When Michelle got to the end where they showed Hillary speaking and then Michelle broke down, I began to sob. I really, really needed that! -
I agree that Tom and Jessica were previously involved, but I have a feeling she (or someone/something impersonating her) is involved with the heretic Catholic group. You’ll notice that when Maria is trying, unsuccessfully, to talk Tomas into attending the meeting, Jessica shows up, and Maria immediately quits trying to persuade him and then later at the meeting says not to worry as they have other means to recruit him.

Not only did she buy it, but it was my understanding that not only did the defense not present it as a likely scenario; she concocted it in her mind to convince herself that she reached the right verdict.

TDS 3.0: Season Two Talk
Fable replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
I liked it too. I wouldn't want something like this often, but as a one-off I thought it was brilliant and appropriate for Halloween and the state of our Nation. -
I don't doubt that the content is real, but I do doubt that Sam's bit was supposed to be taken as fact. She is a comedian, not a journalist and I found the whole ski mask thing laughable. I couldn't take seriously the jokes about the one guys shirt and if they were really trying to hide anyone's identity they would shadow them out and disguise their voices. Of course, I've been wrong before.
