  1. It is my understanding that psychopaths are violent with such tendencies. Hence the movie title "American Psycho". These are the killers, rapists, etc. When you watch a show like Criminal Minds, these are about psychopaths, not sociopaths. Sociopaths are far more frequently found in everyday life; at your work, maybe even in your family, etc.: they have no problem hurting someone's feelings or 'stepping over people' to get ahead, they show a lack of morals, empathy etc. but I don't think this term is usually used for the violent. Sure, some might be, but I believe most aren't. It was funny to see Maddie in those jeans and knee high caramel leather boots -- that is uncannily how Reese dresses in her every day life (I frequent a fashion board.)
  2. Something I hate about television shows and movies so much because there is nothing directors seem to love more than a fucking violent car crash so I am always ready for it to come. It's often gratuitous because there are other ways to advance the plot. And then of course they had to show a flashback to it right after. Jane always wears the same outfit while jogging. LOL. Somebody's going to come out and say they do the same but to me it's funny.
  3. Thank you for reiterating that. Posters here keep saying "Why doesn't she just leave" as if that is a brilliant idea no one's ever thought of. Jane makes me so angry, sleeping next to both a gun and her child at the same time. How fucking stupid. Just look up the statistics for how many people die by their own guns and through accidental death, my god, how fucking reckless. And she knows how jumpy she is, not a calm person at all but rather a traumatized one. I hate the cliche of violent car crashes in shows trying to be "edgy" and this one is one of the worst crimes of all because it's so gratuitous, The whole thing makes me so upset I turn all the way around to just accepting it in a Zen manner, Bonnie-like. A lot of studies have come out recently about how humans sitting at a desk for 8 hours (and then going home and basically doing the same) is extremely unhealthy and leads to heart problems, so standing desks is an innovation to combat that. I did also read that pushing yourself to do that too fast can ALSO be bad for your heart, so maybe a good mix is best, not sure. I would do the research before switching. Although, I've had jobs where I was standing most of the time so I would think that those jobs would at least be better than the sitting.
  4. The W network is still too pricey for what I would pay.
  5. I liked it. I'm so glad they kept Elsbeth on this show because she is obviously the most exciting and brilliant part of it. I really admire the actor. Probably 1 or 2 TV critics on my Twitter feed really didn't like this one, but I did.
  6. She's also coming back to ANTM after Rita Ora did hosting duties for her while Tyra was on maternity leave. Rita's season was the first I watched since like 2005.
  7. Tyra Banks, Nigel from SYTYCD, Bill Maher. I don't know if Tyra is still how she was back when I was able to stand watching ANTM more than 10 years ago, but she is absolutely unhinged. I don't know how nobody has stepped in to intervene or maybe get her some desperately needed help. She's abusive and ignorant.
  8. Oh my god. This story. First of all, I'm in total shock that this boy is 14. I remember when he was born so clearly. Second of all, I'm so charmed by this. When the kid was born, he (unfortunately) looked very much like Steve Bing's baby, the poor thing. And if you guys remember, Steve Bing was a complete asshole to Liz about this. But Liz Hurley's wonderful physical genes have taken over. Good for Damien. I'm really just so charmed by this story. He kind of reminds me of Ruby Rose! Haha! Asshole. And man, Liz Hurley looks fucking great. I idolized her in the 90s. I honestly think she doesn't look that much different.
  9. I love Adam Scott in everything. That man is so diverse! I don't know if any of you are fans of "Monster-in-Law", a J.Lo and Jane Fonda romantic comedy from 2005, you won't believe all of the celebrities that pass through it! Adam Scott plays J.Lo's gay BFF, Will Arnett is in it randomly, and Wanda Sykes is Jane Fonda's personal assistant. Oh my god, when I finally saw it for the first time it was such a hoot.
  10. @Irlandesa yes -- you're right. I love Rosie in anything, and the dearly departed Carrie Fisher played Sally's BFF in When Harry Met Sally. Maybe I'll watch Sleeping with Other People. But Alison Brie's 'charm' seems to have zero effect on me. I always forget that she was in "How to be Single", a romcom I did enjoy last year. By the way, she's engaged (or married?) to James Franco's younger brother, Dave. I think that's pretty cute.
  11. Dammit, I'm sad guys. I'm vehemently anti-Tyra. I just wanted to say this is a good show board. I've had fun with you guys this season. I haven't watched ANTM in like, a decade. Seriously. I went to look up the last season of ANTM I watched before this past season. It was Cycle 5, I think. I couldn't take Tyra's abuse anymore. I just wanted to say I really had fun this year. I don't mind Rita Ora at all. I DO mind Tyra. I don't think I can come back next year. It's too bad. Thanks guys. Stacey hosting is an amazing idea by the way. Love her. So proud of her.
  12. I've read about it on Twitter, probably some TV critic or one of the many accounts I follow that tweet about shows starring POC
  13. MJ's brother, Paul, PJ (LOL, I literally GUESSED that his name was PJ because MJ's name is MJ, and his real life name is BJ Britt. I don't know why I find this so funny.) I think, with respect to the girl he was looking after, her mother hit on him. He then freaked out and backed away and said, "Is this why you hired me?!" (I think. I don't even know WTF he does.) MJ trusts Justin because Justin has made it clear he wants MJ to become an anchor on the show. When Rhonda was out of the (country?) Justin wanted MJ to be her sub. MJ was announced as the sub but then Rhonda came back which foiled their plan. Then Justin said he still thinks MJ can make it as anchor on this show and he'll make sure she gets there. That is exactly how I felt when MJ's childhood friend (Lisa?) committed suicide last season, and they showed it on the show. What the fuck? I've been scarred by that ever since, and my love for the show definitely dulled last year.
  14. Wannabe Lady Macbeth...... she fucking called for other people to commit murder... but she was too cowardly to do it herself. We have Caribbean food places here in Canada. I get that people eat goat, lamb. But to kill an animal in THAT situation. For goodness sakes. So extremely cruel and stupid. @vb68 - thank you. I never remember anything Andrea ever did. To me she is extremely bland. Extremely overhyped.
  15. Can't wait until he makes top 3 again. LOL. If anyone's proven bad at the game why not Caleb. Day 9 twice in a row. Did he even do anything or just let Tai flirt with carrying him. The editing decided to hide everything Hali did so it leaves me completely clueless as to whether she did something, or whether it was really all Brad manipulating Tai. The arguments at Tribal mean nothing - the tribe has made up their mind by then. May I please remind the court that Michaela's Tribe (which is what I will call them) HAD FOUR CHICKENS. It was what, like, Day 9?! Sandra is an asshole pure and simple. Simply manipulating the tribe to see how far she could make them go? Asshole. Wanting to actually kill a goat family? Asshole. Either way, asshole. For a million dollars you could not get me to kill a goat. I liked seeing Michaela get to show off her challenge prowess for her tribe. I liked that once again, Cirie and Zeke got to be the Dream Team together. Ozzy is once again hot to me.
  16. Bad edit? She wanted to kill goats. Bad edit? LOL. Bad edit?
  17. I don't know why I thought Lee was attractive at first, but I did. Then his kids. I actually love kids, or I always thought I did, but those teenagers were so strange. Take away the masturbating thing, even, they seemed like total caricatures. They acted really weirdly. Teenagers just want to be cool, don't they? And my British cousins grew up WAY faster than I did. But Lee's, from a few episodes back, were just so childish. I think after that I've been kind of turned off. It's unfair, because parents should be as dateable as anyone, but Lee's not as hot anymore. To compound matters, using MJ's family shit? I would have left his ass so fast. Anyone says anything about my family, it is so beyond over it's not even funny. It's way too new of a relationship to talk about someone else's family in that way. Michael Ealy...... is Michael Ealy. Here's hoping for a juicy finale. Kara is an idiot. LOL. As a big baseball fan, I'm like, you're giving up a former ball player? You idiot...
  18. A lot of people dabble in art without becoming wealthy off of it. Why does that have to be the point? As long as the children are looked after, what is the harm in Rebecca pursuing something to make her happy or something that is just for herself? Can't the reason for Rebecca doing something simply be because, she wants to? Two weeks or whatever is not that long of a time to ask your partner to be supportive of something you want to do. My brother has a full time job, is in two bands, and a long term relationship. I don't get the big deal.
  19. Maybe the writers of the show have mother issues? (As do I, so this is not meant to be flippant.) And that's why the scales seem to weigh so heavily in favour to Jack over Rebecca? If anyone watched LOST, every single character on the show had a horrible father. Hence, our constant jokes about the writers all having major Daddy issues..... Not that Rebecca is horrible, I just totally get some people's annoyances that halos seem to hover above Jack and William and Rebecca gets painted so differently. Although, I agree with the poster above who found Jack's antics unbelievable this episode. Hard to paint him as a saint and then turn around and paint him as somebody who would be so mocking towards Rebecca's aspirations. That was low, for me. I guess the drinking is a bit more believable since there has been foreshadowing and drinking and driving is a very realistic epidemic. I think, and hope, that many reasonable people know that a lot of stay at home parents don't necessarily feel 100% fulfilled. It's an issue I've been hearing about since I was a teenager. 2 mother characters on the show "Big Little Lies" expressed it this past week, and the posters were so sympathetic. Things are so different here.
  20. The show was deliberately manipulative by having Kate claim last episode that she caused Jack's death and then not showing how he died this episode. It's all fine and good that they didn't want to kill Jack or get rid of Milo's major part in the show. I don't need them to ever show how Jack dies. But why the manipulation. It was truly unnecessary. Some of you are lucky you're not on Twitter. The actors kept posting: Omg, you're all just gonna be destroyed by this episode! Yeah. Not so much. Did you guys do a weird episode on purpose so we would miss the show less. LOL. Not even having a plot with the Big Three..... Thanks Mandy looked really beautiful through the whole ep. Milo had a very strong accent in that last scene, LOL. I don't know where he's from, LA? It was kind of distracting. I love him. I would also like to know who the actor was who played Jack's friend.
  21. "Get Out" has passed 100 million dollars on a 4.5 million dollar budget. Not a sequel, not a franchise, no drag racing, no fancy cars - a black male star - how will people explain away its success and pretend that people of colour cannot carry movies or make money at the box office? I can wait to hear it. I appreciate Samuel L. Jackson's thoughts on the industry. He definitely makes me think about these nuances in Hollywood. I'm not an actor myself, and neither American or British, so I have no real personal stake in it. But I think it's interesting. Less interesting to me is telling him to "sit down". Why should he not speak on his own industry?
  22. I thought Nick seemed really light and fun with Kaitlyn. I do not remember them arguing. I think they were very into each other physically and had a lot of fun together. That's what I remember, personally. I don't relate their relationship to Nick and Vanessa's.
  23. Celeste and Perry portray the perfect couple with the perfect children. The wives ooh and ahh over Perry and his charm, looks, or important job. The other parents envy their life, how it looks from the outside. The house, their looks, their vacations, maybe even their public physical displays of affection.
  24. I am confident you guys will enjoy this. Designer Zac Posen interviews Christine Baranski in a very long form for Interview Magazine. She discusses her character and the show at length. http://www.interviewmagazine.com/culture/christine-baranski
  25. I'm going to go ahead and butt in and re-recommend that all women read the book called "The Gift of Fear". You can't just leave an abuser! No matter how rich you are you are not immortal. This book could save your life. Author Gavin De Becker is an expert on this stuff. This is a matter where ignorance on a topic can actually put you in mortal danger. After taking 4 years of Criminology, hell, after watching 1 episode of SVU, the ignorance surrounding domestic abuse here makes me want to weep. Liane Moriarty, the author of Big Little Lies, probably partly wrote this book to show that domestic violence can really happen across all platforms of life. It's a great book; after the series is done I recommend that everyone read that too. It does a great job of delving much deeper into Celeste's inner monologue and internal struggle surrounding the abuse. (Rather than the show, which people seem to be interpreting as, but Celeste is so hot, LOL, can't she just marry Keith Urban?) Relationships are hard to leave even without violence. People don't like being left even if they're non-violent. Compound those issues with children, and the type of man who uses violence to solve issues, or lashes out physically when he's rejected, I mean, come on! Do the math. It's the oldest cliche in the book..... OJ Simpson anybody? @Gem 10 I think I heard that The Fault in our Stars is good, but very sad! One of my friends is also a big fan of The Divergent series starring Shailene. Some of you were talking about Ed showing up at Bonnie's work. I agree, it shouldn't happen in real life and therefore might look silly onscreen. But I believe television writers use this shortcut to kill 2 birds with one stone. It moves the plot along by showing one person confronting another, and it shows one character at work so you get a better sense of who they are by showing what they do for a living.
