  1. A few best/favourite performances I'd like to highlight Alicia Silverstone in Clueless Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act Crispin Glover, Back to the Future Michael J. Fox, Back to the Future II Lori Petty in A League of their Own Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls Rooney Mara in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo James Franco in Pineapple Express Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight Natalie Portman in Closer Angelina Jolie in Girl Interrupted Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive I like Denzel Washington in all of his performances, same with Meryl Street, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Robert De Niro. I have about 40-50 movie stars I'd watch in almost anything to be honest (especially as a big comedy lover, Will Ferrell anyone? and a big romantic comedy lover, so I love Cameron Diaz) but I guess these are the cream of the crop.
  2. Article in W Magazine with the Costume Designer. http://www.wmagazine.com/story/big-little-lies-mommy-style-costume-designer-alix-friedberg?mbid=social_twitter
  3. On Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, (and all the other ones the kids use that I don't know about) memes are always circulating. It's all social media, not just Facebook. I'm no meme historian, but the Kermit sipping tea meme is one of those major, original memes that helped begin all of the memes. Now there's a new meme every second. But yeah, that's one of the big originals, so for any of us who are crazy on social media, as soon as Michaela started pulling out the canteen and unscrewing the cap? I SCREAMED IN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! I started snapping pictures. I knew shit was about to be so good! Before that moment I was definitely 50/50 on whether she would be voted out.
  4. Laura Dern and Reese Witherspoon did Instagram live (?) and said they actually want to do more Big Little Lies episodes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/big-little-lies-second-season_us_58deb91de4b0b3918c8361c1?ncid=engmodushpmg00000004
  5. And "tea" is also slang for gossip, like "Spill the tea... tell me all the tea" ;)
  6. She threw the bag. It was one thing. The rest of the time I haven't seen anything weird. Drinking the "tea" at Tribal was J.T.'s just desserts and it was hysterical. That already goes down in history as an all-time best moment.
  7. This might seem like a stupid question to the Sandra fans. Does Sandra ever find idols and use them? Sorry to interrupt with this pathetic lack of knowledge.
  8. But, uh, according to Debbie she has an 8 pack, was a world class gymnast, was a model (do I have that right?) has done things in the sciences, likely the arts (I am guessing,) and other fields, maybe engineering....... So......... I think she does pretty well for herself.... Either like I said, she actually is ahead in all of the worlds, or she is lying. I wouldn't feel bad for her if Column A and I don't think I'd feel bad if Column B. I don't think there's a Column C here. It's one or the other.
  9. But that's none of my business.....
  10. World class gymnastics even amongst all her other careers and talents... haha... Oh man. I need to stop. I feel bad now Ozzy is a God. I continue to be in awe
  11. Thank you for bringing this up. I was really taken aback. Was that the first time Team Strategy before a challenge was ever shown? I'd love if this was shown to us all the time. (I know, it was to show that Debbie is nuts, but still.) JT was getting hot, physically, but I got really icky vibes from him from his treatment of Michaela. He really zeroed in on her and couldn't think straight. His "complaints" about her were totally bonkers. I never could get through his season and I never cared for him anyway so whatever. The editors are so funny. They edit that tribe like a horror movie. Debbie's maniacal laughing, Debbie's crazed pushups, Debbie's screaming at the camera (LOL), Tai nodding and smiling while looking around for the others, Brad's total confusion, haha. Oh man oh man. It's really fascinating that Hali, and even Brad, the target of Debbie's delusions, tried hard to push for team unity while Debbie was off doing her tantrum/thing, and the team ended up victorious in the end. I don't remember that usually happening on this show when one of the members has a breakdown/crackup.
  12. Exactly. She accounted for the idol this time. Even if JT had brought it he wouldn't have played it, because Sandra played him like a fiddle. Aubry sounded so stupid that I thought she was in on it. You moron? You're DONE with Michaela AT CAMP? What the fuck does that even mean? It bothers you that she's not a coffee drinker? I admit that I really liked Aubry during her season and wish she had won. This is like a whole new brand of editors who aren't drinking her Kool-Aid, or else I don't know what. I love the Survivor editors, showing all the lies Debbie was telling. The Debbie psychosis was hilarious. I admit it. It was totally nuts. If Tony comes back, I will be so happy. Haha, this is the best show on TV. Michaela with the drinking at Tribal. How did Jeff not laugh. Queen of Memes. That was for the AGES. I love Ozzy, I love Tai, I love this show. This episode was one big exercise in letting the fools think what they want and coddling them. Red tribe with Debbie, and Sandra's tribe with JT. LOL. Does anyone think that they edit the challenges to make them seem so much closer than they are? I don't know why Ozzy and I aren't married yet
  13. I think because there's not much 'edge' or 'drama' to the character of Book Madeleine, don't you think? Actors usually want to 'do the most' as the kids say. They want a challenge.... And, the producers/director obviously weren't going for the lighthearted tone that so much of the book, and most of Liane's books seem to have. They wanted more of a dark, glam HBO tone. Beautiful houses and women amongst high intensity drama and secrets. Liane's book had the juxtaposition of being a fun comedy with an incredibly serious theme that sneaks up on you. This series just wanted to do the 'drama' thing.... This series' idea of comedy is maybe a couple of barbs by Madeleine and some green projectile vomiting....
  14. I also think that Book Maddie is almost nothing like Reese Maddie. Reese obviously had the passionate affair and is presented as a little aloof, sexy, hardened. Book Maddie is presented as like, a fun-loving goofball. Very free-spirited and silly. Reese Maddie is not like that. Although Book Maddie DOES take Jane under her wing and DOES flip out on Abigail for the auction thing. I just think, demeanor wise, they are so different. I've totally made my peace now with the differences between the book and series, but I do think it's interesting to talk about.
  15. Adam Scott has a boyish face. They try to hide that on this show with the facial hair but it's hard. He's like Anime Tom Cruise. I think I heard that a long time ago. I hope you saw "Just like Heaven" that stars Mark and Reese together, then ;) LOL, I am too old to even have been living under my parents' roof when we could have laptops... got my first one well into University or later!
  16. I recommend The Night Of - it's not "fun" to watch and nothing like BLL - it's dreary and suspenseful at times - but it's good. I guess the comparison is that they're both 1 season HBO shows, and very short seasons at that! And murder-mysteries.
  17. Answering my own question: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tv-ratings-big-little-lies-outpacing-night-989112
  18. It's obviously not an age thing, considering how old Madeleine is supposed to be. Reese is 41. If she knew a lot about Sade's genre it would be more likely that she'd know Sade's music over Adele's. Sade was incredibly popular in the 1980s. Just makes Madeleine seem a little sheltered in her lily white world or something. Madeleine, Show Madeleine is portrayed as having some issues. Ed worships the ground Madeleine walks on. There are a lot of people who are not comfortable being worshipped or even liked. They respond badly. Ed is doing nothing wrong but I personally know people who cannot even receive a compliment. They will recoil. Mad is still very scarred from Nathan and Ed is like the good guy who came along and saved her I guess.... Maybe she couldn't deal with the pressure of how Ed views her. Silly to me personally but I am just throwing out theories there. (This is like Daphne and Niles Crane, LOL) I really like Alexander Skarsgård in the role too. A lot. I don't think he's being out-acted. He is not what I pictured as Perry but he totally won me over. I think Shailene is being out-acted and through no fault of her own I think she was mis-cast.
  19. I think HBO doesn't release numbers on shows, right, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard whether this series is a big hit or anything for HBO? Wondering if anything can be continued down the line or once this series is up that's it, we're done for! It would be amazing if somebody or Liane wrote a sequel to this. Too much to dream for, I know.
  20. Justin Bartha mouthed something at Lucca in the final scene - anyone know what it was? The styling for Lucca is always really exciting for me. Also, the music. I liked this episode. I thought Justin Bartha was really good and Lucca definitely wasn't as smarmy as usual.
  21. I'm willing to bet a lot of money that that's not true... But I'm not going to bother to re-read right now, since I just did before the series premiere.
  22. Just as a partner I was surprised Ed didn't flinch when Maddie started downing the wine after taking the pill. I feel pretty proud that I was so shocked that there was no (Richard's?) wife confronting Madeleine scene last episode because this happens on literally every television show and then this episode it DID happen! This just proves...... that I watch too much television. Those people are called bullies
