  1. And they learned to drive, went to college, and are now teaching at a grade school. Independent and doing well.
  2. Sadly, I have had a lot of personal experience in this area (two knee replacement procedures on the same knee). I found a walker much easier to use and I felt much more secure than with crutches. A walker with 2 wheels has more control, but the rollator-type with the seat is very convenient when you need to move things at home. But you need to progress to the rollator. You need to get medical advice before you do anything or use any equipment (after you make it to the doctor). When I was using a walker or rollator post surgery, I found Uber and Lyft drivers very helpful, and they would stow my equipment for me. Knee injuries are a PAIN--but there are workarounds. Just be sure to follow advise of your Dr. and PT, and don't try to do things too fast. Good luck, and remember, ice is your friend! (but no longer than 20 minutes at a time--longer can actually make things worse.)
  3. Wasn't Nurie's wedding reception kind of a crashing of the Sr. Keller's anniversary celebration? So it would "make sense" that Non-Nurie and her husband would take a backseat at "their" reception. Those poor kids.
  4. I hope not, but I've been thinking the same thing. Who in his right mind would like MBE for a mother-in-law (in-love). It shows he at least has some smarts.
  5. In the Duggar Friends topic there is a discussion about the Rods and their attachment to the KJV Bible. I have a question for our Bible scholars. Has anyone read, or does anyone have an opinion on the Lamsa translation. I have a copy because one of my father's customers, a sweet old Assyrian man, who I liked very much as a child, was a personal friend of Lamsa. Lamsa apparently was fluent in Aramaic, and he shows some samples of words that look so close, it is very interesting. Example, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle" is translated "rope" instead of "camel", and the words look almost identical. I know his translation has caused a lot of heat and controversy, but I am interested to get some historical perspective, mainly because I received this as a gift.
  6. My favorite is the New Jerusalem translation. It seems very well documented. It was the textbook for a Bible class when I attended a Lutheran college, and I have just sort of stuck with it. I think it is the official Bible translation of the Anglican Church of England, but I might be wrong about that. It really is a shame the Rodrigi will never have the opportunity to explore and learn. Worse yet, they actually don't want to learn. They would rather feel superior and look down on the rest of us.
  7. They were probably using a car seat that they bought at a thrift store or yard sale. Maybe it was not installed correctly, or Nemo was not strapped in or was on Nurie's lap. Nothing would surprise me with this bunch.
  8. My brother and I were very fortunate when we "cleaned out" our parents's house. They had lived there for over 60 years and it was stuffed to the gills with stuff--most of which was very good stuff. Everyone took what they wanted, and then the realtor's son bought the house, and we could leave everything that was left and walk away. We did let a woman from a thrift store post and sell some things, but whatever was still there, we just completed the house sale and left. It was hard to leave some of the beautiful things, but we both already have full houses. We will have to clean out our mother's apartment at assisted living when she passes, which will not be very much longer. But there isn't too much, and we should be able to handle that together. I am sitting here right now completely stuffed. Some friends and I went to a great resort in Tahoe for a late lunch. The view of the lake was spectacular, and the food was excellent. I had the best salmon that I have had in a long time. It was a great way to spend Valentine's Day. Have a good rest of the week, everyone!!
  9. Are we sure it was not just a spelling error or lack of proofreading? She is not always careful when she posts. But maybe the KJV is her spelling book.
  10. Where I lived in CA, it is almost unheard of to have rain in the summer. On the very rare occasions that we would have a light rain, even just a few drops, you would see people decked out in their winter coats and carrying --and using--umbrellas. It could be 85 degrees, but the thinking was "if it is raining, it is winter". It would just crack me up.
  11. Curling shoes have a "sliding pad" on one foot and a "gripping pad" on the other. That is why you see the players sliding but being able to stop when they want. They also have a type of shoe cover that the players put on their shoes when they leave the ice. Curling has become very popular in some areas. There is a curling rink in my brother's town, and he does not live anywhere near any snow. (I think they got a very light dusting of snow about 40 years ago). I would not be surprised if major companies are making curling shoes.
  12. Maybe the Dingii were not asked if they wanted to be posted all over the internet and were not pleased when they found out.
  13. I agree, he probably took the Bar and did not pass. In the back of my mind I wonder if he realized that Jill was not letting him get quality study time and he opted out at the last minute. They have not been forthright about it. I am looking forward to his next venture, be it taking the Bar again, or a new path. I think with a different type of upbringing he might have turned out to be an interesting person.
  14. At least "Jill" acknowledges that Josh committed assault rather than "it happens in all families". Referring to the part of the post that says Derick went to law school to help victims, do we even know for certain that he even took the bar after graduation? Maybe he is not planning on becoming a lawyer. With degrees in law and accounting, I'm sure he could find some good jobs. Maybe forensic accounting? I will not be surprised, however, if we hear soon of his next degree path. I think he has smarts, and maybe is is a perpetual student.
  15. Without knowing actual, written facts, I am sure that $$$ was one of the main incentives, and that TLC encouraged her because they would have very limited, if any, opportunity to film if she delivered in a hospital. I doubt they would have shared any liability. Evy has FATCO syndrome, which very often includes cardiac problems. Her heart may have looked ok in the scans, but it was not a risk that should have been taken, in my opinion. But she opted for risking her child's health as well as a very painful delivery for her share of the pie. I'm just glad there were no fatal outcomes.
  16. What is even worse, in my opinion, is that Maddie knew ahead of time that her daughter would be born with multiple anomalies, and still opted for a home birth. That was an unconscionable decision in my book.
  17. I just got a new router today. I hope it behaves itself.
  18. It is a nice sunny day today, and Flora and Lilly decided to take advantage of the sun. They don't have a nice cat tree (like a couple of other lucky cats we know), so they make do with window sills.
  19. Maybe the dress is too big and the neckline was slipping down one shoulder. That is a huge "cover up". It looks like she could trip on the hem. In Jessa's mind, it is easier to just cover her up than actually alter the dress, after all. Poor kid.
  20. I seem to remember that they bought a limo at a used car auction a few years ago. I think they have had it for quite a while. I wonder how many people and how much equipment they stuffed into it for the long drive.
  21. We had our "big snow" over Christmas, and it did disrupt driving and deliveries for about a week. But we have been having cold but beautiful weather since then. It is cold--it was 8 as I pulled into the Church parking lot 2 weeks ago, and 16 last week, but the air is crisp and clean, and the mountains are beautiful and covered in snow. I'm sure we will have more weather coming, but I am really enjoying the beauty right now. I hope everyone who is in the path of the storm is staying safe and warm.
  22. I just don't understand how someone who claims to be "modest", and calls out others for what they wear and how they act, can post photos like these on the internet for all to see. I would never think of taking, much less posting, anything like this. She is not cute, she is not funny. She is just sad.
