Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)
CalicoKitty replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
What is the deal with children falling asleep with things hanging out their mouths (see Jessa Duggar), and not only not removing the item, but posting a picture? I can't tell what is in Evy's mouth, but choking is no joke. -
I think I read somewhere that Plexus was not allowed to be sold in Canada. That should tell them something.....

I really do think Bin has some smarts and could have been an interesting person. In the film of their honeymoon in Europe (France??) he was shown to be very interested in the architecture and the history. Jessa just sat there looking bored. I believe if he had been given a chance in life, and not sold off at such a young age, he could have grown into an interesting and possibly well-educated person. I'm afraid his goose is cooked, however, and he will never reach his hidden potential. He had no idea what he was getting himself into, and his future looks very bleak. I'm disappointed that he is not insisting on a good education for his children, but I guess you don't "insist" with Jessa. I actually do feel bad for him. He is in a no-win situation. I think that is part of the reason he comes across as irritating. He may not even realize why he feels so stifled.

I'm watching some program on Netflix about people who go to barns and swap stuff. A couple of guys went to some barn and found some Jordans that are supposed to be valuable and were so very thrilled to buy them. They plan to resell for a couple of thousand dollars. They looked like dusty shoes to me. It was funny to see this in TV while were were discussing Jeremy's shoe fixation. I guess collecting shoes is a real thing.

Where did they get all these people to sit and listen to their "lecture"? Something just doesn't seem right with this whole story.

I think the shoe thing is stupid, too, but if you are a collector of something, you don't see it that way. People spend tens of thousands on a piece of art, or some other item they collect, and, although it makes no sense at all to me, the collector is very excited. Jeremy collects shoes, which is of no interest to me, but I guess my collection of Cascarets laxative items or nesting dolls would seem strange to most people. However, I do not take pictures of my collections and post them on line all the time (actually, never). (Cascarets was a laxative brand that started in the 1880's, and they had the most amazing advertising. Example: I have an advertising postcard with the following poem: "Mary had a little clock, she swallowed it one day. Now she's taking Cascarets to pass the time away". --I know, it is a niche collection!)

Felicity is not a toddler. She is, what, 4 now? I used to love spending time with my dad when I was her age. But we just went places; it was never a "date". That just sounds weird. But this group uses "date" in several strange ways. "Date night" when the parents to out to eat, "double date" when the parents and their married daughter and husband go to dinner. "Date" when they go out to dinner with a sibling. I think the word "date" does not have the same meaning to them as it does to most of us.

I could understand, maybe, if it was an ancestor. I have some family pictures on my office wall that are pretty scary. But they are in my office for me to enjoy, and not on display in my living room. And they are relatives. Although I do admit I have pictures of my 3 uncles who served in WWII in my living room, along with their medals (two never made it home). But some stranger who is not related, NOPE.

I think it is her long sleeve.

I knew someone had. I thought it was Derick. I guess it was wishful thinking.

Didn't he get a "professional" haircut not too long ago? Or am I thinking of someone else.....

I have my cats on an automatic feeder, and I don't bother to change the time. They don't seem to care what time it actually is, as long as they get their food very 6 hours. One of my cats has no teeth and does better with frequent, small meals, so they get their daily food allotment divided into 4 equal feedings. They don't know the difference if it is 5AM or 6AM. As long as there is food, all is good. This feeder has saved my life--or at least saved me from getting maimed. They used to get hungry about 5AM, and would jump on me until I fed them. Now they know the food will be there on time, and they sleep until they hear the motor. Then all bets are off. And don't stand between them and the feeder! Food is serious business in our house.

FYI, and maybe? interesting----The guys who developed the expensive brand of eggs starting with "E" in the clear plastic carton were from my home town. They were friends of my parents. I buy regular eggs, however. I wonder how BME will grift gas when the prices keep going up. It is up to almost $5.00 here, and we usually have more reasonable gas prices. Will she be upset when her ladies retreat has very few ladies in attendance because of gas prices? It will be interesting to see if she has to stay home more. I wonder if GWE has insurance. He is not looking well at all. And I agree, that picture does look like a Victorian death photo.

And they are not taking selfies and bragging about it on the internet.

I once had a woodpecker who spent hours trying to poke holes through my metal gutters. It was loud and annoying, and I guess he finally got a headache because he left. It took him a couple of days to figure out that the gutters were metal and not wood. He was not too high on the woodpecker intelligence scale.

I am bothered that they are "teaching" the medical staff about injuries. To my knowledge, none of these guys has gone to medical school. I'm sure the doctors in the Ukraine know much, much more than Red Cross basic first aid. Unless they mean they are pulling people out of bombed-out buildings and administrating first aid, which I highly doubt. They sound much too busy waiting for supplies and finding pastors and churches to partner with to anything else. This sounds like more of a media ploy than any real help. I'm surprised that they actually were able to get into the area.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
CalicoKitty replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I will not be surprised if other "secrets" come out about this family. -
I'm covered in cat again tonight. We are watching The Philadelphia Story, but my watching partners decided to sleep instead. I needed a break from the news. (I find it is hard to take an in-focus picture this close.). Wishing everyone a good and peaceful night.

So they only went to Florida to take a walk and eat at a restaurant? And she is the teacher for her children? I wonder if she really doesn't understand grammar and sentence structure, or if she really is this scattered in her thinking. Proofreading might help, also. I wonder if she speaks in incorrect sentences, or if she is just poor at writing.

I just got off the phone with a cousin that I have not seen for about 10 years. He and his wife live in Winterset, Iowa, where the tornado hit. They were not home, and watched it on TV, but they are all well and untouched. He said if it had hit one mile more north it would have taken out a couple of schools and a hospital, and the loss of life would have been much higher. It was good to know they are alright, and I feel so sorry for the families that were hit and lost loved ones.

I liked the interview with the guy that owns a brewery. He is now producing Molotov cocktails instead. They showed stacks of boxes filled with them. These folks are tough and very inventive. As @Rootbeer said, WWII is not forgotten. I wonder what the Medic guys actually know about WWII and what happened to millions of people. Do the Wisdom Books cover world history?

@quarks, you listed some excellent points. I wonder if these guys even know that that they use a different alphabet. When I was a tourist in Russia many years ago, I learned to recognize two words--the name of my cruise ship, and the word "exit". I figured those two things were very important. Otherwise, I was totally lost language-wise. And I have college degrees and have wide international travel experience. And I am very good at map reading. What will these guys do when no one obeys their orders in English? I don't see this having a good or useful outcome.

I know charities are asking for money, but are they asking for volunteers? Unless they can cook soup, I can't see that they will be much help. No place for SCUBA, and I doubt they will be parachuting anywhere. I would be very surprised if they were actually going to Ukraine. Maybe to direct traffic in another country?? I just don't see them being very helpful, and I have no idea who would ask them to come. Exactly who has "dispatched" them? Or do they see this as a photo op to get donations? I just don't see how 5 or 6 guys, if that many, can be useful. I also don't see them being invested enough to "fight to the death". I just really hope they stay out of the way and don't make more work for anyone.
