  1. The shape of the skirt is so wrong. It seems to taper down to the legs and looks to tight to actually walk. Just a mess.
  2. I want to thank all my friends here for your condolences on my mother's passing. Your kind thoughts mean more to me than you can ever know. We have everything prepared and ready to go for her service next week. Last night was the first night in weeks that I did not go to bed wondering if I would get a call during the night. Now the stress is gone. And I know she is out of pain.
  3. I have never forgiven him for the "short bus" joke (Not funny)
  4. I finally got "the call" just now, and my mother finally passed after being unresponsive for several days. She was medicated and not in any pain. I knew she couldn't go on too much longer with no food or water. I am so thankful for my brother, who lives near her and made sure she had all the pain meds. I am also thankful to the Hospice nurses, who were just wonderful with her, and with us. She was not only the last of the 10 children in her family, she is the last cousin, also. The end of an era.
  5. I'm the one who asked about the signature. I was curious if an adult woman actually used a heart in her legal signature. I guess she is not as much of an adult as I thought. She really is stunted. Thank you @emmawoodhouse for posting this. Edited to add: I wonder how she signs if she need to use DocuSign. She couldn't use the heart then. Would it still be considered her legal signature? Sometimes being too cute can cause problems.
  6. I was thinking that perhaps JB is making a donation to this church by having the parsonage fixed up. Then I came back to reality.
  7. I had what I thought was food poisoning, but it turns out there is a stomach bug going around. It's been a week of just not feeling quite right, but I am actually very hungry today, so I guess I am over it. Unless it is snowing or raining, I leave my bedroom windows open all the time. (or if it just too hot outside!)
  8. Whatever she has, she needs to see a specialist ASAP. Why is she not going back to her cardiologist? She is under medical care if she is wearing a monitor, right? This could have a very bad outcome.
  9. FF will be mentioned in every article about the Duggars for the next 15 years (I hope). Even wedding announcements of his siblings. He has really made lasting memories for everyone in his family.
  10. I don't think the poor girl has much say in the matter. That is not how this cult works. Girls don't need to expand their world beyond headship and children.
  11. Question: Is Michell's signature with the heart as the dot actually her legal signature?
  12. She should apply to be a "fashion host" on QVC. Unfortunately, this is what a lot of their clothing (and hosts) look like.
  13. I love the peace and quiet of cemeteries, and when I visit North East Iowa I spend time in about 11 of them where I have family. I do a lot of genealogy research which involves reading a lot of census records. It's a bit scary when I can actually start recognizing family headstones other than my own family. "Oh, there is the Jones family. They lived on 3rd Ave in 1930". Or "there's the Pelner family. Their daughter was confirmed with my aunt Margaret in 1927". It is truly amazing how much information--much of it useless-- the brain can store. I am usually alone in any cemetery I visit, but I would be greatly upset to see a group like the Rods exhibiting such great disrespect and running amok. I find their behavior appalling. (True story: I was visiting my great-grandmother's grave, and, as usual, I was the only living person there. A man in a truck pulling trailer with a digger stops by my car, gets out, and asks me where he is supposed to dig. I said I was just visiting, and had no idea. Needless to say, I was a bit surprised. Soon he came back to tell me he found the marked gravesite and did the job. I guess he felt he needed to report back to me!)
  14. Maybe an assistant to the assistant DA? Or part of his staff?
  15. I thought all these people were supposed to be such great "friends". At least crop the picture before you post it. I thought she was supposed to be so good at cropping and filtering. Mean and selfish.
  16. Did Meri post these pictures? They are rather unkind to the other ladies in the shot. I guess LLR doesn't care how badly clothing clings, or how unflattering their clothing is in real life. LLR should include a can of anti-static spray with each and every order.
  17. Very good points. Maybe he likes the fact that it is far from home and that his mother can't visit regularly. I guess I just feel sorry for him because he does not have the resources or education to be able to fulfill any life dreams. Or even how to have realistic dreams. He is stuck.
  18. I sort of get what he wants to do. One of my uncles became a Lutheran missionary. He was #9 of 10 kids, and his father had died very unexpectedly when he was 5. Money was tight in the family. After High School he went to Business School and worked as a secretary, and he was a very good secretary. Then he went to college to get his BA, and then 3 years of seminary before he could be ordained. After ordination he went to Papua New Guinea and was there for over 30 years. He did have to go to language school to learn Pidgin. I'm saying this because I understand that Philip's desire may be very real, but it takes a lot of effort, and a lot of support from many, many people. And you need an established organization behind you. I'm sure the program Philip wants to attend is much less intensive, but you need an active network behind you for support. Philip has no financial support, no real education, not even any transportation to get to class (and a mother who is nuts). I think it is great that he has such great ambitions, and I think it is very sad that the odds of him reaching his goals are very, very slim. Just to add: in my uncle's case, having secretarial skills proved to be very useful in his work. Much of his work involved translating and printing teaching materials for their schools and churches.
  19. If she wanted to go to college, it would take her quite a while. She has a very poor basic "education" and would have to take a lot of remedial classes. (See title of "her" book)
  20. I wonder who wrote this letter. Maybe the attorney? It is too professional for it to have actually been written by Michelle. It's pretty sad if that is all the attributes that someone can mention about another person. I'm sure she was told to just sign here.
  21. I did it. I just placed my order and it will arrive Monday. I did upgrade to 1TB so I will have plenty of room for documents and photos. Thanks for your advise.
  22. Thank you. I plan to place my order tomorrow. I may bump up to 1 TB. I have a lot of pictures and documents to scan and organize. I really appreciate your help.
