  1. I am not sure comics Everett K. Ross would really work in the MCU. The whole point of his character was to kind of show how no one really gave a shit about T'challa either as a head of state (because no one really knew anything about Wakanda) or as an Avenger (because as Priest always said he was the guy in the back of the group photo and there were like 100's of Avengers). So they assign some Useless guy like Ross to be his state department liaison when he visited NYC. But as far as super heroes go there are a lot less in the MCU so one who is also a king of a nation that people have actually heard of is a lot bigger deal. So when he comes to down you can't just send some low level idiot from the state department to pick him up. But yes, canon Ross was great and hilarious, and it is really too bad that Michael J. Fox isn't like 30 years younger.
  2. That was exactly my point unless he wants to there is no way you can force Thor to sign. And if he doesn't sign there is no way you can enforce it on him, what with the rainbow bridge and all.
  3. Did they actually say that somewhere? Most of my knowledge of legal firms comes from law shows but isn't it pretty common for law firms to make their senior lawyers partners in the firm? Obviously not named partners, but i would think other lawyers would own a piece of the firm wouldn't they?
  4. Yea i fully get that the Accords probably covered all enhanced people. But Cap should have made more of a point that he was fighting for their rights. Since fighting for his rights to illegally enter any country and counduct his own law enforcement operations based on what he wanted to do was stupid. The line about Thor was also stupid, since even if Thor was in that very room did Ross actually think a super strong immortal prince/god from another galaxy who can call down an interdimensional portal would bother with the accords or could in any way be forced tp sign them. Also speaking of stupid, how was it in the time it took Cap and Bucky to get from Germany to Siberia, Tony was able to get from Germany to the Avengers New York compound, have Rhodes evaluated, talk to Natasha about it, fly to the Raft then fly to Siberia and get there before Cap and Bucky left?
  5. Catching up on these episodes, I wonder if they tried to mash the two plots together since they were trying to show some kind of parallel about how the right to carry a gun and the right not to be put on trial twice for the same crime are (I think) rights protected in the US constitution. Also (and kind of shallow) but with all the talk about how Abigail Chapman's case only got coverage because she was gorgeous, they should have cast someone way hotter to play her.
  6. Have been watching this again over the last few nights. One thing i really liked is Spider-Man and how they displayed his powers. Just thinking of the comics characters, in the airport scene he probably was the strongest person there. So i liked that unlike just about everyone else who tried,Zip he actually held his own fighting Bucky (and Sam no less). And between his strength, speed and spider sense he actually fought well against Cap. Still think the accords thing didn't really work and still think the Avengers being registered government agents makes sense. I think it might have worked better if the accords required everyone with powers (whether they use them or not) to be registered, and Steve was fighting to protect the rights of those people.
  7. Your probably right, and it is kind of too bad that a fan theory that SHIELD controlling technology is the best explanation we are going to get. And a lot of it probably should be tightly controlled. And i get you don't want to make the world look too weird, so even in a world with Quinjets, you still have regular airliners at the airport. Although i do wonder what the average life expectancy is with that medical tech like that human tissue growing machine we saw in Age of Ultron. Also speaking of tech, watching more of Civil war i noticed in the scene where they were figuring out who Zemo was they miraculously had high quality camera footage of him. Also Tony's cell phone in the scene with Peter was really cool. That 3d projector thing was cool. Wonder how common those are in the mcu.
  8. Fair enough, though the car I was talking about was the flying car that Howard introduced to the public at the expo. Although one of the lifting wheels broke during the demo, it was still far beyond anything we have now in 2017. And that is just one of numerous inventions that the MCU has shown that are way more advanced than what we have. Not saying I want the background scenes to look like The Jetsons, just maybe somehow show that it was something that was thought of. I thought that Logan did a good job showing how that movie was set in the future and things were slightly more advanced from a regular guy point of view.
  9. So if we go by that example, in the MCU the flying car (or at least antigravity hovering technology) was introduced to the public in 1942 (by Howard Stark in First Avenger). If you want to use the same timeline then rich guys should have been flying around in the 70's and the tech should have had all kinds of uses that would have changed the world by the 1980's. But in 1991 Howard Stark, is driving a Cadillac (on the night of his death) like anyone in our universe could buy. And even if you figure that flying cars would never in a million years be legal, that kind of technological jump would have huge ramifications for all kinds of products. So based on that invention alone and 70+ years of development, why would you expect consumer grade tech to look anything like ours?
  10. Compare it to our world though. We live in a world without memory reading holodecks, without 70 year old flying car tech, without LMDs or Quinjets. And yet a handheld hd camera that people carry around in their pocket is a pretty common thing. Yes rich guys get the best stuff, but as rich guys get better stuff so does everyone else. So thinking of that, in the world with all of those things how much better should a basic comercial security camera be than the one we can buy(or a cell phone or a car or anything)? For another way to look at it, consider flatscreen tvs. 15 years ago they were a high priced rich guy item. Now just about anyone looking for a tv can get one realtively easy. Or alternatively look at all the consumer grade tech that has spun out of stuff that was developed by NASA. That is just how technology works, so why wouldn't it be the same thing in the MCU?
  11. Was watching Civil War again last night and it reminded me of something that has always bugged me about the MCU. There is no consistency with the level of technology. I mean in one scene you have a memory reading holodeck on public display. But then a little while later you have security cameras in a major European city that are so crappy that they can't even tell that Zemo and Bucky are two different guys. And don't even get me started on how crappy Jessica Jones's phone is.
  12. Rewatching the season and thinking about this, I am not sure anyone called Cap "Captain America" in Civil War. His friend call him Cap or Steve, and the media kept calling him Captain Steve Rogers. So thinking of that what would the general public call him in the modern world?
  13. Re-watching this episode and I hadn't realized before that many (if not most) of the camera shots are kind of taken from I guess like a PI point of view. Like shots through windows, or partially obstructed like the camera person is hiding behind something, or weird far away angles. As if the camera was someone following Jessica. Kind of cool and I am wondering now if this carries though the series.
  14. That could be interesting. Maybe the show doesn't need a villain, as long as it has a decent season long theme. Thinking more about it, most shows outside of super hero type genre shows don't have villains, just people going through life and dealing with their shit.
  15. That's sort of what i was thinking. I thought Steve was in costume, and i could see how if Nancy was all in, or pretending to be, for their relationship she might dress up too.
  16. So i started watching the first season last night, partially because I was bored an partially in anticipation of the Defenders (it really is the best thing Marvel has put on TV) and it got me thinking, what do people want to see for season 2? For me the big one is i really want to see an "It's Patsy" flashback clip. I mean was it some kind of kid variety show or was it Saved by the Bell or something? Honestly as long as they can come up with a credible villain i think they should be ok. The characters, and cast, are strong enough where i am mm pretty sure it will still be better than Luke Cage or Iron Fist.
  17. I get that. But at the same time he is getting pretty close to 50. At that age he probably has some sort of idea of how many movies he has left in him. So I could also see him turning it down because he doesn't want to spend a year to two years of his life training for this then shooting it then promoting, when he could be doing other more interesting projects (it is not like Bond is going to win him an oscar) or just spending time with his family. Plus like you said the training alone sounds brutal. I read a great comment on another site where someone said these movies basically take a 50 year old guy and expect him to get into the shape of a 22 year old professional athlete. Plus it is not like it is an all or nothing deal for the money. I am sure if Craig turned down Bond, he could probably just as easily get cast in another movie and make millions (ok not 100 million) doing that movie too.
  18. I am curious, not having seen the show, why it seems to be getting so much more negative coverage then say The Man in the High Castle. When it would seem like logically if one is upsetting to someone so should be the other
  19. I was thinking about how they might change things up after the Infinity War is done and i am wondering if there is any chance they would do Wesr Coast Avengers. They have just about the whole crew. Even though i don't love Renner as hawkeye he might work, Rhodey in the Iron Man suit with everyone thinking its Tony. Find a way to pull Mockingbird in from Agents of SHIELD. Simon Williams (Wonderman) exists as a deleted scene in Guardians volume 2. Then maybe get Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, just as their science guy and maybe add Wanda and/or the vision. Williams becoming wonder man could be a plot point. Plus after whatever goes down with Thanos, moving west might be a good choice for whoever is left.
  20. Why would it make a difference for the Inhuman royal family? They weren't created for tv or movies, they were created by Lee and Kirby in 1965. So it is not like a tv writer can lay claim to having created them. Same with Daisy Johnson who also originated in comics.
  21. Maybe like Banner is getting more control the longer he stays as hulk and like along with him being able to talk (and presumably being smarter) it also makes him look more like banner.
  22. Yes, Betty Ross. I wonder if Ed Norton hadn't bee such a jackass on set of The Incredible Hulk, would Liv Tyler still be part of the mcu?
  23. She is also voices the main character on two Disney channel shows (Tangled and Sheriff Callie-yes i do have small kids) so she also has that sweet sweet disney voice over money coming in regularly.
  24. It is kind of funny that Superman Returns actually made more money than Batman Begins. But returns had so much baggage from all those other failed productions that it had almost no chance for success.
