  1. When Alex met with Piper, she mentioned that she had a gun (which Piper commented was a parole violation), and that her parole officer was kind of a jerk and didn't really care that she was in danger. Based on that, plus the look on Alex's face when the PO came in her door, plus the fact that she was hiding the gun behind her back would indicate to me that the gun would be a big deal. Plus if they want to do Alex/Piper stories next season, they would need to get Alex back in prison, if this isn't how they are going to do it, then the scene with Davy Crockett would have been kind of pointless.
  2. With respect to Alex I am pretty sure that being in possession of a gun would be in violation of her parole, so she would be headed back to prison. Although I am not sure what the chances of her heading back to Litchfield would be.
  3. It is a simple one but I would really like to meet the warden. Mostly just to figure out what exactly his deal is.
  4. The whole season was super tense, what with the different races being against each other, plus all the talk about how poor the prisoners felt they were being treated, and then the isolated acts of violence, then we saw the riot gear show up, then the storm. I really thought the prison was going to explode at some point. I thought it was cool that it didn't happen, but then a bunch of other crazy shit did happen.
  5. I really liked how for most of her clues she began with "I am..." and then basically acted out the clue as the person who she was trying to describe, sometimes adding in voices. It was hilarious and really effective. She also did some good strategic passing. Which got me thinking I am surprised that people in this game aren't better at passing. Yes I know there is a limited amount of clues, but like profs of mine used to say back in school, go through once and get all the easy ones and then go back and spend the time you need on the hard ones. In this case watch the clock and if it takes more than 5-9 seconds to get a clue, or you know you don't have a good description, just pass.
  6. I think they are almost going for comedy with how over the top powerful Fig acts. Especially with how big a deal she makes about her husband's political ambitions. I mean he is running for state senate right? And he hasn't even won yet. The plot line really reminds me of Angela from the Office who was also married to a state senator and also thought it was a way bigger deal than it was. Her husband was also secretly gay. To be fair right now neither of the baby's bio parents can take care of him either because it is not like Bennett can really show that the kid is his.
  7. I bought it. I mean no one was hurt and there was minimal property damage. The prime suspect is locked up, and the guard who supervised her in the van was fired. As far as DNA goes you hear all the time about crime labs being so understaffed, that there is a DNA backlog for rape cases. Not sure running DNA on a breaking and entering case would be a priority at all. I fully expect Daya to be totally into Pornstache's display since he basically did everything she wants Bennet to do. I bet there will be more of her guilting Bennet in the coming episodes and more of me being annoyed by it.
  8. I think the kid was telling the truth. Not sure why he would be lying, especially from a storytelling point of view. As for the thing with Morello in the car after seeing some future episodes it totally makes sense. I mean if
  9. I thought that was crap too. I almost laughed when Fig said she was worried about a sexual harassment lawsuit. What about a wrongful termination lawsuit, considering that she was fired for cause with essentially no warning, and no documentation of her past poor performance.
  10. I am kind of glad they didn't take too much time explaining this. It was obviously something that would have happened very fast, so having someone basically pause the show so that the viewers can have it explained to them would be kind of jarring. I mean this isn't House of Lies or Saved by the Bell where the main character talks to the audience. One thing I didn't get was how the year between Sputnik and the football game proved to Cameron that Joe was full of crap. I mean couldn't the timeline have been that he saw Sputnik and was obsessed about it for a year and wouldn't shut up about it. When the other kids hear him talking about it for a year and the giants lose that big game they finally have enough and beat the crap out of him? It is something that could possibly happen, especially when these are little kids.
  11. Before the season started I watched episode 12 of season 1. When Piper and Taystee were trying to translate what Doggett wrote, they asked Black Cindy for help and they mentioned that she was raised in the church. I thought that was kind of interesting when you compare it to this episode and see how her life turned out.
  12. Yea looking back it was good because her storyline made sense with or without the twist. It wasn't something that came out of now where and completely ruined everything that came before it. Plus all of her wedding planning scenes from season 1 and her guilt about cheating become a lot more interesting. And that scene in this episode where she talks about how Christopher is taking her away for the weekend, but she has no idea where they are staying became super creepy after the reveal.
  13. The Orange is the new Black cast was fun. It would have been cool if they had faced them off against cast members from Oz.
  14. I thought she was pissed off because the dude was basically just some random plumber that Caputo found in the phone book, not someone from her "preferred vendors list". Speaking of which I really can't wait for the assistant wardens scams to blow up in her face. And I can't believe it has taken this long. I mean there is that reporter who knows what is going on. Plus her husband is running in an election, which means their lives must be scrutinized like crazy. Plus everyone that works for her, seems to hate her.
  15. I liked it too. I also thought it was interesting how Healey totally latched onto Caputo at the bar and the next day at work, especially after his wife reminded him that he had no friends. Speaking of Caputo that plumber was totally trying to rip him off. If you have underground pipes that are backing up because of tree roots, you don't have to remove the concrete. There is a process that can be done where 1 machine clears out all the root blockage and then a second machine lines the pipe with a type of plastic so that the inside surface of the pipe is like new. We had it done at our house a few years ago as roots from trees on City property were causing damage to our sewer drains. It is not cheap (luckily the city paid for it) but it is much cheaper than what that plumber was describing. I am also curious to see if/how Caputo can get around Fig and go to the warden. I am also interested to get more backstory on the warden, like what exactly does he do? Also did anyone pick up any indication on when Gloria was arrested. I like trying to figure out when people were arrested and trying to figure out how much time they are doing. Gloria looked so much younger in the flashbacks. How much time would she really get for ripping off the food stamp program?
  16. I thought the twist with Morello was one of the better ones I have seen on TV in awhile. And it totally makes sense to me that the other prisoners wouldn't know the truth about him, since the only way they could find out was through her. And even with the stalking and the possible explosive device I could totally buy that she would get only 4 years. I mean it would be her first offense, and I can see the jury going easy on her (with what they convict her with) just because of how she looks and how she comes across. I am really curious to see what Red has planned for that drain. It looked to small for her to do a Shawshank style escape. Plus she keeps talking about how you can only depend on yourself, and her family has kind of abandoned her so I am not sure she could use it to bring stuff into the prison. I am not sure if they have said how long Red's sentence is, but she has already been in long enough to remember last time Vee was there.
  17. Unless it is different for computers I am pretty sure they do. If I invent a new toilet and patent it, my patent documents have to include designs and drawings that show exactly how it works, and what makes it different than existing designs. Those then becomes something that is searchable so that if someone invents a new different kind of toilet, they can search the existing patents to make sure they aren't just infringing on an existing one. Why wouldn't it be different for computers? For example here is some random patent filing I found when I typed IBM into the US Patent office search page which includes detailed description of how things work including drawings: http://goo.gl/DfvjHX Wouldn't the guys in the show have been able to look up the patent information that IBM had on their chip which would give them a ton of information? As far as coca-cola goes, they don't have any kind of patents, they just use trade secrets and contracts to make sure that anyone who knows the formula is aware that if they violate their contract they can be sued back into nothing.
  18. I think I got that. The thing with the lights was essentially figuring out what the code did right? So to put it very simply, if you could figure out how to make the lights do the same thing on your own, with your own unique code, it wasn't a violation of the patent. I guess I don't know enough about patents because I thought when you filed one, you basically had to disclose everything about how your invention worked, because that was the only way to prove that it hadn't already been invented. And once you did that all of that information became public domain (although protected by your patent). Although I suppose it could be some weird mix of patent and copyright (if it is code) that I can't really figure out because I am not a law talking guy.
  19. Then I thought they could have been more clear with that. I mean I think what they wanted to say was that she was the only one that could do it, but apart from her talking better in her class there was nothing to show that she was a better computer engineer than anyone else at the company. And if you are just going to lie anyways why not get someone closer to you rather than this imitation Robin Sparkles. I sort of got what they said about the patent. The only thing IBM had the patent on was the chip. Beard guy just figured out what the chip did, and I think Cameron's job is to design a chip from scratch that can do the exact same things. As long as it is not a direct copy and doesn't do the same things the same way then it does not infringe on the patent. Also aren't patent documents public domain, so couldn't the two guys have just looked up the patent filings for the IBM chip and then made some changes and called it an all new computer?
  20. Yea it didn't make a lot of sense to me either. I mean if Cardiff's lawyer was basically instructing Cameron to make false statements, and potentially commit perjury, why did they need her at all? Why not just pull some existing Cardiff engineers and get them to do it, since getting someone who already has a job and is loyal to teh company would probably be easier. By the way everytime I hear Cameron talk she sounds like Cobie Smulders. From what I can remember from a documentary I watched like 10 years ago, the real way the IBM PC was cloned was a lot more air tight legally, since they basically did like a double blind research study, with one group being like the bearded dude and figuring out what the IBM does, then another group, completely separate from the first figuring out how to make a computer that can do the exact same thing.
  21. I had the same problem with man of steel. I finally watched it last weekend and while I liked some of the concepts (like the whole thing about how proof of an alien would really change the world). But there was too much Zack Snyder flash to it. Like annoying close ups of clocks or that whole dream sequence where Superman was sinking in the skulls. I just found it all irritating and kind of distracting. I can only imagine what kind of "symbolic" crap he will add for Batman.
  22. It seemed to me that Jin's dad had some debts to some very bad people? But Voight and the rest of the Intelligence Squad were always asking Jin for off the books favours. Did he not understand how favours work? Why not call in one of those favours and have Voight, or Alvin or someone make the gambling debts (or the people who want to collect them) go away?
  23. I read it last week and I pretty much liked it up until the end which kind of bugged me a bit. The possibility of tacking on a kid to Veronica's life seems like of annoying. Then again the idea that Lianne might go to jail as an accessory makes me laugh as well. I mean the woman has no criminal record, is primary care giver to a 6 year old (especially after her husband does go to jail). Plus the fact that there was only one plane ticket out of town (in her husband's name) would be pretty good evidence that she wasn't involved. No way any prosecutor would want to take that to trial and risk having the sobbing testimony of a now single mom whose husband screwed her over happen in a court room. Especially since she could potentially be a witness against her husband or step-daughter. Then again it also kind of bugged me that there was no real mention of how the last time Veronica saw Lianne, she skipped town with a crapload of money that was her's and Keith's. It also kind of bugged me that there was little or no mention of trying to figure out who killed Sacks and almost killed Keith. As determined as Veronica is, you would think she would be spending all her free time trying to figure out who almost killed her dad.
