He was trying so hard not to react with disgust 🤣 Best scene of the episode.

I think I need an intervention. I can't stop hate watching this show on Netflix. I stopped watching it on NBC a couple of years ago, but I just started watching again from Season 1. It's so much worse bingeing it. The crappy repetitiveness of the writing is much more apparent.

I love that Stacie got more screentime and story this season. I was stunned when she showed up at Kimchee's reunion. That was gold. -

I'm halfway through S5. Jung is kind of a crappy boyfriend. He made the lunch with Umma unnecessarily awkward, and that thing with the dinner party was incredibly thoughtless of him. -
A Black Lady Sketch Show - General Discussion

This was my favorite episode all season. I haven't been really feeling this season; the sketches have been hit or miss. I actually forgot to watch it last night. I just watched the finale, and all the sketches were really good this time. Doesn't it? That sketch was hilarious because it was so true. I don't like it either, and sometimes it doesn't even seem to fit the setting of the sketch. It felt very out of place in the Split the Check sketch, even though I understand it was a callback to an earlier sketch. -

Laci was the lead in the twerking sketch with Miguel. I agree about Gabrielle being the MVP. Not only is her acting on point, but she's nearly age 40 and out here doing handstands, roundoffs, and splits. I'm jealous. -

I thought I saw this here, but I guess not. This was fun to watch. I just re-watched the Purgatory Soul Food sketch and saw that the waitress is one of the writers. -

Yes, that was her. I was really glad to see Erica Ash in that scene, too. I recognized Ryan Michelle Bathe's face, but I couldn't tell who she was until the credits. I was so excited to see Miguel! They are doing Ashley no favors with her wardrobe this season. I remember her clothes looking better last year. I Wheel Survive, lol. -

Pattu Hogg is not saying "I've said too much, I've said too much" as often. My new favorite quotable lines from her are in the Baby episode: "Amy Lou, you are without child and you are without wits," and "Oh my sweet Jesus!" -

I'm just now watching Season 3 on HBO Max. Was the knife guy always so creepy? The writers are really spot on with the film references, so far there's Picnic and Lady in a Cage. There are probably some others that I'm missing. -

Courtroom Kiki Part 2 was my favorite sketch, esp. Gabrielle's dance moves and YNB as the judge. Laz Alonso was funny, too. The line about having them "seasick with these waves" sent me flashing back to my uncle with his Murray's and his wave cap saying "My hair is more wavy than the ships in the Navy." This show continues to kill it with the guest stars.- 149 replies

I'll be with you behind that tree because Blue has irritated me since Season 1, Episode 1. I love that viewers are holding Nova accountable even if the show's writers aren't. #neverforget

I'm so glad we got to see Chen on last time. He's been my favorite character throughout the series. He's so delightfully petulant, but he's a good guy underneath.

Line of the episode: Jason's date asking to switch seats with Stevie so she wouldn't be sitting next to him while he was getting roasted.

I was surprised to see Bubba in this episode. I thought he would be love shacking with Candy in Corvallis.

It makes sense that the show would address the events of last year, but I don't think if I'm up for reliving them so soon.

I don't know about Jacob and Charlie. He seems pretty weak, too. Both Charlie and his mom easily manipulate him. I just finished the season, and I had to force my way through because I really don't like any of the characters anymore. I want Nova gone. At this point, I think she's a ridiculous hypocrite. When you hurt people, and they tell you to stay away, you stay the f*** away. You do not show up and hover around like some stalker, demanding that they talk to you. She's tries to act like she's all into self-love, self-care, and understanding, but she won't permit her family members the time to heal from the deep wound that she caused. Massive eye-roll. I don't like Nova and Calvin together. They are both so beautiful, and I've gotten over the fact that he's a cheater, but I think I just don't want Nova to be happy with him right now. Their relationship fell into place too quickly. Charlie's storyline has become repetitive. She talks big and bad, tries to accomplish something, and gets thwarted by a Landry or a Boudreaux. Lather, rinse, repeat. While she manages some victories (winning a council seat), another battle always pops up immediately. Even though she has money, she will never have the influence that the Landrys have. If she won the war with them, it would almost be too unrealistic.

I'm just now watching this on Netflix. I loved Henry's response about Piper and Jason wanting to have sex in the 80s when he heard about the Luther Vandross song.
-
Oh man, I hope not. Sophia and Zora are my least favorite characters.

I think you will be satisfied. I did the same as you -- gave up a few episodes into season 4 because it was getting too ridiculous. Season 5 is better, not as good as season 3, but much more watchable than season 4. The show ends nicely and ties up all the loose ends.

I thought Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte was the craziest film she'd ever done. I was mistaken. -
I tried to watch season 4 on Netflix and I couldn't make it through the third episode. I gave up.

I just finished bingeing the last season of How to Get Away with Murder, and I completely missed that Kendrick Sampson (Nathan on Insecure) also played Caleb Hapstall, a client during Season 2 of HTGAWM. The characters were so different that I didn't even see that it was the same actor.

I do not like the thought of Janet and Gerald together. He is way too weak. He dated a girl he didn't even like for months (years?) because he couldn't manage to break up with her. I want someone better for Janet. I would prefer someone who isn't terrified of her father. That would be more entertaining to watch.
