Cthulhudrew is right, the rich guy was middle-aged with kids. Minor's owner was younger with dark hair, and IIRC, with more of an olive skin tone. Absolutely agree. Bozzio is my favorite character now. She manages to pull off a mixture of smart, cool, and dork.

I agree, sexual orientation doesn't matter in this scenario. The details are fuzzy here. For all we know, Taylor might have been assaulted by someone else using an object (in addition to having sexual contact with Eric). I really have no thoughts about whether Kevin was involved in or knew of the assault. I do believe that he had sex with his girlfriend at the party. When she refused him at his house in episode 1, I thought it was because his parents were home. She didn't want to be caught by his parents and give his mom another reason to dislike her. Of course, having sex in Val doesn't mean that he had no part in the attack against Taylor.

I got bored with this episode, so I fast-forwarded from the 20-min mark onward. Boy, am I glad that I watched the last 10 mins. That surprise ending was marvelous. Plus, Becca being so much in new mom afterglow that she didn't even acknowledge the obvious? Priceless. When the girlfriends were encouraging Abby to give Harris the "boyfriend test," all I could think was "This is a horrible, horrible idea." Harris had both told and shown Abby what he wanted from a relationship. Somehow she and her friends thought, "But he doesn't really *mean* that." WRONG.

Which would be the most cliché thing ever, not to mention unethical. As much as I like seeing Adam Rodriguez, I hope they don't go that route. A professor dating his grad student advisee elicits both a side eye and an eye roll. I could absolutely be seduced by chilaquiles.

S02.E09: Rule #81: There's No Crying in Porn
mrsbagnet replied to ShellSeeker's topic in Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce [V]
So, did Abby feel used because that guy name-dropped her in his meeting with the agent? I wasn't quite sure what her reaction meant. -
It's true that Xo and Alba could have just stayed out of it. I was still more annoyed with Jane in this scenario, though. Why does each generation think that they invented sex and parenting? Alba has been alive for a long time, and she has raised two children. So Jane believes a book over her? If Alba had been a terrible or abusive mother, then I could understand Jane disregarding her, and I know that it's hard to listen to your baby cry. But what are our moms and grandmas for, if not to advise us? It just seemed like a waste of everyone's time (including Mateo's) for her not to at least try Alba's method. The sports commentators at least made the storyline interesting, and my favorite moment was Alba opening the door to find Jane asleep and Mateo sitting up, wide awake.

Here's a follow-up to the basketball team rape story linked above with more details. What a horrific story! It's close to what happened on the show, but much worse. The victim ended up hospitalized. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/01/22/after-rape-of-freshman-basketball-player-a-tenn-high-school-grapples-with-accusations-of-abuse-and-lack-of-accountability/

I re-watched the scene in Episode 1, and Taylor was not looking at photos of Eric. He was just scrolling through photos on social media when the photos of him popped up.

That was my favorite scene. So far, the principal is my favorite adult character on the show. Yes, you are right. I was confused about that. Val is the now ex-girlfriend, and it was Nikki, the new girl, who called to check on him.

I like that they do that. It keeps all the attention on one character and their reactions. Of course, if it's a guest actor, and we never see his/her face, that's not the best thing for the actor credits-wise. Wait, wait, did the school actually call the police? I don't recall that the school called the police first, but the reporter seemed convinced of it. I can only assume that she found a way to corroborate the statement. The female teacher bugged me in the restaurant scene. First, I dislike statements such as "If they were [black, Latino, white, etc], then it would be different" because the assertions are unprovable. Even if it were true, you can't be a 100 percent sure, so why make that kind of statement to your colleagues. It will only antagonize them. Second, I couldn't tell if her reaction to Dixon's speaking Spanish meant that a) she is refusing to acknowledge that there are black Latinos, so she just assumed he was a African-American guy who spoke some Spanish, or b) she was saying "You're one of us, but not really for us." In either case, she was being dismissive and rude, which will not win her any political friends. If she can't grin her way through lunch with a person she doesn't like, then she has no business being involved in politics. I was so happy to see Terri LaCroix get knocked down a peg. Also, I love how they keep bringing home the point that Kevin's girlfriend is a better person than his mother. The girlfriend was the only person who tried to comfort him. I was all set to applaud that girl for calling out Kevin for being grabby, but then she gave him her number anyway. Smh, teenagers.

Last season, we never saw what really happened during the crime, so you might end up disappointed. By the time they got to the finale, though, it didn't really matter because so much had happened, and the show was really about the aftermath, not the crime itself. From my perspective, there would have been no payoff to knowing what really happened; too many bad things had preceded and followed the crime. It's different this season, as no one has ended up dead (not yet anyway), so the topic is heavy, but not so devastating to all the characters. Other than Taylor and Eric, it seems that the most anyone has to lose is prestige and money.

I think I'll head to the PalMart to buy some Wheat Thangs and N&Ns. Who's coming with me? Is NBC doing much advertising for this show? I only found it because my TiVo recommended it.

One of my many favorite moments was when all rivals lined up for the face-off and after scowling for a second, they all started doing the "greet with a kiss" thing because it's the culturally required thing to do.

I rewound the scene of Mimi imitating the pervy high-fiving dolphins many times.

I liked the episode, and I thought the acting was stellar in the scene in which the assaulted kid tells his mom what happened. I was also really pleased when the girlfriend walked out on that kid in his bedroom. Good for her for standing up for herself and not succumbing to his pressure.

S02.E06: Rule #25: Beware The Second Chance
mrsbagnet replied to ShellSeeker's topic in Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce [V]
Delia's storyline makes no sense at all. I get that she doesn't want to get married, but up until now, her boss has been a stand-up guy and the voice of reason. An affair between the two of them just seems preposterous. There are so many more plausible ways for the writers to wreck her engagement. I couldn't believe that the new wife came at Jo like that. There was no reason for her to antagonize Jo by coming after her business. Jo would probably have been able to grin and bear her presence had she not tried to interfere with the bakery. There was just no need for it. I had to laugh at loud at Phoebe's class. It's wrong to use the word "vagina"? -
I thought he gave a good performance. He definitely captured Hendrix's speech cadence and mannerisms in a convincing manner.

S02.E04: Rule #605: You Can Go Home Again

Paul Adelstein wrote this ep. I guess it will be his Emmy reel. I'm glad Abby and Jake finally came to an end, mutually and maturely. -
S02.E03: Rule #8: Timing Is Everything
mrsbagnet replied to ShellSeeker's topic in Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce [V]
Just when I thought Delia's fiancé was going to wise up and finally call off the wedding, she decided to be mature about the whole thing. I'm still not convinced this marriage should happen, but perhaps all hope is not lost. Did they ever say why Abby's daughter was crying after her driving lesson? It was unclear. -
S03.E10: Some Things Are Black And White
mrsbagnet replied to Sheenieb's topic in Being Mary Jane [V]
I cannot believe that Kara tried to smooth things over with that trite, insincere BS. She should also have never uttered the words "I need this to go away." That just left her wide open. She went with fake bonding and begging when she should have gone with sincere apology and admitting why she was angry and that it was wrong. Marisol might have still proceeded with her complaint, but there would be a better chance of them not working on the same show. Now she's stuck. I'm not yet convinced that Neicy's storyline will become about police brutality. There's no doubt that she was wrong here. I'm not saying she deserved tasing, but she was uncooperative and tried to leave. While there may end up being a media circus, lawsuit, whatever else, I think the storyline will end up being about Neicy the eternal fuck-up and Mary Jane once again being sucked into her family's drama, just when she'd decided to reclaim her life. At least that's how I hope it goes. I have little sympathy for Neicy right now. -
Well, there was the bartender at the private club. He seemed pretty cool, lol. Yes, he told her. She told him to look at things from his parents' perspective, and she basically called him out on his BS. I thought MJ was going to give Marisol a shot to work on her show. I guess she really did only mention her in her pitch to make Kara jealous. It's a shame. I'm rooting for Marisol. Speaking of the club, I wonder if we'll hear anything about Mark before the season ends. I keep imagining that they'll break in, M*A*S*H-style, with an announcement that he died either in Nigeria or en route. I hope things don't end that way for him.

I'm glad the principal reappeared but please, PLEASE do not pair her up with Patrick. No, just no. Seriously, I cannot stand the "love of a good woman" trope. It should not be her job to come in and save him or fix him or give him the motivation to change. He needs to stay on the right path for himself and his daughter. The principal is doing well for herself. When Patrick gets his shit together, then maybe, MAYBE they can be a couple. Can someone plese explain how CeCe keeps getting onto MJ's property? She even made a comment this time "Get the gate fixed or give me the code." I don't understand. Is she scaling the fence? There's probably an easy explanation, but my tired brain can't think of it right now. Due to what I've witnessed in my own family, I could relate to the talk between Mom and Dad Patterson. Your family can bleed you dry if you let them. Gotta say no.

S02.E01: Rule #58: Avoid The Douchemobile
mrsbagnet replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce [V]
I'm wondering how long it will take the lawyer and the rich guy to realize that their wedding and marriage should not and will not happen. She should never have said yes. She's a divorce lawyer. She should be able to spot this tragedy from a mile away. -
Perhaps he was suffering from a Racial Tension Headache (trademark SNL). I think the seed for Hanzee killing Dodd was planted the day that Bear was thanking Hanzee for his service and Dodd broke in with "Stop talking to my man." Dodd saw himself as Hanzee's master, and I think Hanzee had finally had enough of that. He'd just killed two cops, so he knew he'd have to get out of the life, and he had to kill Dodd to be totally free. So hatred of Dodd + getting crap all day + the possibility of Ed and Peggy as scapegoats = goodbye Dodd. I really wanted to see that professional haircut, too. I was sitting at work today laughing at the scene between Hanzee and the store clerk. How could Hanzee not have known that "I'm looking for a red-head" would be interpreted as him looking for a woman? I think that I lost it when the clerk told him maybe he could find a "fat-type girl" at the bar. I wonder if the actors had trouble getting through the scene straight-faced.

I don't think CeCe saw them in flagrante. She said she came over early in the morning, so I assumed (hoped?) that she just spotted the guy as he was leaving. I liked that conversation, too. Lisa Vidal is just shining this season. It was nice to see the whole family just leave the table with MJ got on her soapbox about money. They've learned how to deal with her. She sure knows how to ruin any occasion.
