Yasir's self-righteousness is annoying and off-putting. He's seems so proud of how deep he is. They are only 5 episodes in, and how much time has Yuri spent crying over him?

I'm confused about the timeline on this show. The older versions of the characters are much older than younger versions would be by 2017. Tim Reid is in his 70s. I looked up the show's description online, and it says that the future scenes are supposed to be in 2027, with Nuri and Yasir celebrated their 30th anniversary. That would explain why they cast older actors. However, in the first episode, they says they've been married 20 (or 21) years. Does anyone remember if an actual date is shown during the couple's interviews in the first episode?

There was no reason why RA couldn't have introduced Darla and Trinh. That was just rude. If that's RA's new girlfriend, Darla has a right to know who will be spending time with her kid. I was so glad to see Romero. I was wondering if he would appear again. I admit that for a second I thought it was a different actor. He looked really different from the side.

Plum didn't slap the guy. I just re-watched the scene. He bumped into her, she apologized. He then calls her Fat Ass, at which point she squishes food on him and spits on him. He says "Are you kidding me?" Then she screams "Stop!" to the sky, and then he punches her. There is an element of imagination here (there's thunder and lightning when she screams), but there was no slap.

Nothing really. Just a full body shot of Desna in bed, smiling and squealing from happiness, followed by previews for next week.

I agree that he's abandoning Micah for her, but her mom just died. That in itself is a monumental change. It seems unfair to uproot from her home and friends on top of that, if he doesn't have to. It's not ideal, but Micah's older, has more family, and is going away to college soon. I wonder if the daughter has other family she could go to. I'm not sure what to make of Jacob and Charley, Real or not, I don't think Jacob's feelings for her really matter if she doesn't reciprocate them. So far, it seems that she doesn't. I kinda wish she had called Romero, but then again a first date isn't the ideal place to have an emotional breakdown.

I noticed the look of admiration RA had when witnessing the Vietnamese family getting along so well and being happy together. He doesn't get that in the Bordelon family. Their family dinners all end in fights.

“Risk is a dick. Ride it!” was the title of a chapter in Zlata's book. Desna said that line about Polly after Polly said "Or what? She'll put a cap in our ass?" re: Zlata's order to increase clinic traffic.

Poor Jen sounded so heartbroken when she was crying at the end. I cheered when Desna went after her mom. That was a long time coming. I loved Dean snapping at the abortion clinic protestors. That commercial was too much. I can't decide which was my favorite scene - the commercial or the fight scene at the end. The costume designer on this show deserves an award.

Wow, Bennett and Gwen didn't last too long. It's a classic case of wanting being better than having.

Is everyone's DVR set to record the episode? It got erased from my To Do for some reason (again).

I can see your point. He has not done anything egregious yet. I think what bothers me about Jacob is that he is being both presumptuous and obtuse. His family has gotten rich off of exploiting black farmers, including Charley's father. While he might see himself as a Boudreaux and not a Landry, that does not change the fact that he has received the benefits of their less than upstanding dealings. His family has repeatedly threatened the Bordelons. So, I guess it seems a bit too much that he thinks that Charley would be even remotely interested in him romantically or would even see him as a friend. I get it - if a guy likes a woman, he's going to try. His lack of humility here, though, strikes me as someone who is willfully ignorant of the past or who is just too arrogant to think that a woman would ever reject him.

I'm worried that he's going to try to assault her. He's thisclose to being creepy. Maybe his game is just weak, but I'm getting a bad vibe from him. Did he come to the party just to scold Charlie? He and his hat should have better things to do.

There was marathon scheduled on Sunday and Monday, though I don't know if it actually showed. There was 30 min special about the new season, too. The weird thing is that my TiVo saw the older episodes and this new episode as two different shows. The new eps disappeared from my To Do list, and I had to go in and add a whole new season pass to record the new episodes. Some weird programming glitch. Charlie's biggest flaw is that she thinks she's always the smartest person the room. The Landrys have been at this game for a long time. They won't be easily defeated. I feel bad for Ralph Angel, but um, was he just gonna screw that chick up against the side of the house?

All they were missing was a wind machine.

I realize the irony of saying this about a show that just brought back a dead man, but the idea that Jorge will suddenly be come "legal" after marrying Alba is preposterous. The ink on her naturalization paper is barely dry. Their actions will raise all kinds of red flags with USCIS. If Jorge leaves for Mexico now, he is not coming back. Michael's return is more plausible than Jorge's going and returning from Mexico. I knew from his behavior that it had nothing to do with his parents. Now that we know he was dealing with the shock of the news, deciding when and how (and if?) he should tell her, and had sex with her while knowing he might lose her later, it makes the whole thing much more poignant and sad.

I liked Michael and I liked he and Jane as a couple, but that reveal just elicited a HUGE eyeroll for me. I just about died laughing when I saw Mateo sitting alone on the bus as the doors closed. The twins can work the front desk at the hotel! Brilliant.

Brooke Shields had her own sitcom, Suddenly Susan, for a few years in the late 90's - I can't believe that was 20 years ago. I didn't watch it regularly, but I do remember liking it. I do admire her for being willing to poke fun of herself on this show. She's always seemed down to earth, unlike River Fields.

I agree that Alba's "my house, my rules" defense doesn't fly, but I do think Rafael overreacted. He swooped in and pulled Mateo away like his life was in danger or like Alba was some scary monster. All that will teach Mateo is that Alba can't discipline him at all, not even verbally. Jane's measured approach was much more sensible. Because Rafael overreacted, Alba dug in her heals unnecessarily, then they have a months-long standoff that was totally unnecessary.

Can there be a spinoff with Coach Hardwick, BoJohn, Tiesha, Junior, Madison and Eboni? I would watch that show.

I think I laughed hardest at Dina's "Peter the black guy, yeah okay, that doesn't sound right, but whatever." I liked that whole scene in the breakroom - Sandra responding "Oh God" to Justine's "Ay ay ay!"... the consenus that Amy only dates white guys... the discussion of whether having a preference is racist. Everyone had such good timing in that scene.

I need the wardrobe staff to explain why they keep putting Jazz Raycole in clothes that are too small for her. I know Sydney is supposed to be 19, but the actress has an adult body and her wardrobe doesn't suit her. As much money as the Fletchers have, Sydney should have clothes that are stylish and fit well, as well as being as revealing as she likes. Right? That was so annoying. The Dean of Students and his wife were too much. "All Black children are our responsibility!" Take it down a notch, ma'am.

I think the writers and/or showrunners have overestimated how much viewers would like Noni and Cecil. I'd rather not see either of them ever again.
-
How pathetic that Dave had to explain to Earn the very basics of being in a relationship. A girl who likes you wants you to do things with her. I think even kindergarteners know that.
-
I thought they were divorced, but now they are talking like they are just separated? I hope he doesn't get back with her. She'll just bring him down.
