I rewatched the ending because I couldn't remember it - I totally forgot that Katherine hit Rafael with her car! I'm sure he's fine, but wow. I'm guessing the deal is off. Me too. I'd forgotten the "Luisa is hallucinating" plot, too. Let's hope her plan succeeds, and they get rid of her and her imaginary friend in the process.

I'm a little peeved that no one pushed back on them for giving their daughter that ridiculous name. Baby as a first name? Lazy on their part and damaging to her future. IMO, people who would do something like that probably shouldn't be parents at all because they've already failed at the first, most basic task. Yes, I do feel very strongly about this issue.

"Mama's baby, daddy's maybe." Many of my Southern relatives have told me that it was pretty common for men to raise children that weren't their own, and everybody knew about it. If your wife had a baby, then you were the father, biological or not.

I could see why he wouldn't want a paternity test. He doesn't want confirmation that Blue isn't his son. The truth could be more devastating than the uncertainty. I had a family member who refused a DNA test and took financial responsibility for a child who is almost certainly not his because he didn't want to believe his girlfriend cheated on him and he'd already claimed the kid. I thought it was stupid at the time (he lost gov't assistance for her care and I still think it was a bad idea, but those were his reasons. Plus, as AgentRXS said, RA doesn't miss a chance to be extra. They were a gift from Robert, given to her before the taping of their TV interview. It was pretty clear from their first interaction in her office that Black Sheep Landry (Matthew?) was into Charley. It probably won't go anywhere, but it was fun to watch.

Didn't Rafael criticize Petra for using sex to get things she wanted for the business? Now he's doing the exact same, only he's dragging his children into it. He is the worst kind of hypocrite. When he heard that Katherine rolled up on Jane like that, he should have shut her down immediately. There should have been no access to any of the children until she apologized. He is a coward and an ass.

I'm glad Nova sent Calvin away because she's right, it won't work for her, but seriously, lady, get off the cross, we need the wood. There's no need to be so dramatic. No one is asking you to make your activism the be-all and end-all of your life. You found a man who was all about the activism and that still wasn't good enough for you. Her reasons are really just excuses. OMFG God. Seriously, Darla? If they don't get married, now it will be her fault. A shocking turn of events that makes me feel sorry for Ralph Angel, and I never thought I'd say that. I laughed during Remy and Charley's scene. She's just trying to get down, and he's talking about "forever." She flipped from sexy to analytical in half a second. I was incredibly impressed with his performance. It made me wish that Calvin ends up finding the happiness he seeks, with someone other than Nova.

This is very true. I'm someone who hates being told what do, especially by men. Someone trying to "improve" me in ways I did not ask for would rub me the wrong way. So while I really wanted Nova and Robert to work out, I wasn't that bothered by her ending the relationship. I do feel sorry for him, though. He probably thought he'd found his soulmate. On paper, they really are perfect for each other.

A-freakin'-men. If she had a truly kind and fully supportive partner, I think this estrangement from her parents might not be quite as painful. She's not happy because Ralph Angel offers her no security. Like none at all - not financial, not emotional, not even physical (still can't believe he didn't even react when that dude trash-talked her at the gas station). Their future is too uncertain. I'm wondering if the reason she accepted his proposal is because she believes she can't have better or doesn't deserve better due to her past. Plus, she wants to be a mother to Blue, so she's stuck with Ralph Angel in her life anyway. It's telling that Vi is the first person she told about her parents. If she and RA had a good relationship, she would have been crying on his shoulder. I also think she's worried her parents won't approve of RA. I'm curious why none of the other Bordelons have commented on how unhappy she looks. I wish her sponsor would show up again. How did Ralph Angel miss that he wasn't going to make any money being a farmer?

I'm not sure what to say about Nova and Robert. He should know by now that she doesn't like those kind of surprises, so that was a huge miscalculation on his part. He wants to be a big time power couple; she doesn't. What can you do? They want two different lives. I'd be annoyed too if someone kept pushing me in ways I didn't want, as if what I do isn't good enough. Maybe if they kept the professional and personal separate, things could work for them. Robert was trying to be a borderline Svengali, and Nova wasn't up for it.

I noticed the same thing - the episode numbers were off last week, and the numbers for this week are completely wrong. I had to set my DVR to record whatever was showing in the 10pm slot, no matter what the guide said. It looks like the wrong programming info was sent out to the TV listings services.

No doubt Nova's free-spirited nature reminded him of the painful parts of his relationship with Trudy.

Ralph Angel tries Darla at every turn. I'm wondering when enough will be enough for her. Remy, too, has a ton of patience with him. He apologized to RA when he had done NOTHING wrong. Does RA not get how school works? The professor knows more than you, and he explains stuff. I get it - he's had bad school experiences, but Remy is his lifelong friend. How could he think that Remy was trying to make him look bad? So tiresome. Thank you for your perspective on Lorna. I never really thought about the emotional toll on her, though I did notice her look of relief at Vi's feeble attempt at making amends. I think the relationship with Robert scares the crap out of Nova. That hug was telling - he was hugging her much more deeply than she was hugging him. This relationship is too real for her. She has a lot of things to work through before she's going to give her all to a relationship. I'm not sure I'd say hot as hell, but he was definitely more attractive than the other middle-aged men we've seen on the show thus far. He had perfect politician hair, which always frightens me a little. It's a reflex.

I absolutely agree. If I were Charley, I wouldn't be letting any Landry, no matter how distant, anywhere near my brand new business. He could be a spy, and even if he's not, do you think Landry is just going to sit back while Charley poaches that big of a customer? He's going to come after her hard, which she doesn't need right now. I know Lorna means well, but she's not from around there, and she doesn't get how any of this works. Agreed. I wouldn't hold this against Vi at all. Now the thing with Lorna - she was wrong for that.
-
I'm feeling kinda proud of Nova. Opening up with Robert was a big deal for her. I knew Vi wasn't going to want that dude in her house. Why didn't Hollywood know that? Perhaps there is hope for Ralph Angel. For now, he continues to annoy.
-
You're right. During their convo at the engagement party, Charley tells Remy that her mom agreed not to come back to Louisiana a long time ago. It's ironic that Robert asked Nova if Chantal has an agenda because it's becoming clear that he has one.

During the Big Fight over the will, Nova told Ralph Angel, "Daddy didn't commit to Mama until she was pregnant with you." So I think Ernest and Tru were dating and had Nova, he left them for Lorna, then divorced her, and came back to Tru. Once Tru was pregant with RA, then he married her.
-
That's why this forum is a relief to me. I was thinking again about the scene with Darla and RA at the gas station. Why didn't he come to her defense? I would think that an average man witnessing his fiancee being harrassed in public would say something to the other man to get him to back off, or at least do something physically to show that she was with him. Ralph Angel just stood there. We've seen him be a hothead while defending Blue. I guess he doesn't think Darla deserves the same.
-
That marriage explains so much about Nova: the strained relationship with her dad, her feelings of rejection, her refusal to commit in a relationship. I can see why the changed will stung her so much.
-
I need to rewatch the first episode. I just assumed with the way Lorna was throwing out sorry excuse after another for her absence that Charley didn't know. She didn't come out and say it, but it was heavily implied during the dress shopping scene with Charley. I don't believe RA knows.
-
I really wish Darla wasn't pregnant. I feel like if she wasn't, she wouldn't even be considering going through with this marriage. Marrying a man who is dismissive of counseling would be a big NO for me. He thinks he knows everything, and you can't tell him anything. That's a lifetime of frustration. So Charlie's mom was staying away because of her deal with Violet? Maybe they should have told that to Charlie. The way Nova's friend was eyeballing Robert, I though she knew him from somewhere. I was getting scared about what she might say.
-
An unexpected encounter creates issues between Ralph Angel and Darla. Meanwhile, the presence of Charley's mother Lorna gives rise to old tensions in the family, and Violet finally sees a doctor about her recurring symptoms.
-
Dear Robert, Do not give a woman a gift in a small box unless it's the Real Thing, and it's expected. I think dude got his feelings hurt a little because Nova was looking at that box like it was going to bite her.

Toby was fine this week, but last week he was way out of line with Kevin. Maybe the two of them alternate annoying behavior. I generally find him to be too pushy, and he won't take no for an answer.

Sometimes being a parent can be such a thankless job. Kate is jealous of her mother, still, at age 37, though by all accounts her life is going great. She was straight up bitchy to Rebecca, who came there to support her. She told her own mother that her very existence had ruined her night and her life. That is so incredibly hurtful, and she didn't even say it in anger, so she can't use that excuse. Toby and Kate come off like bratty assholes. Good thing they are with each other then, I guess.
