  1. I just saw an ad for some kind of food called Devour. A really angry, ugly-faced man leaps out of the ocean with an open container of the food, which he takes a mouthful of. The ad is unattractive from beginning to end. Why does the agency/client think the idea of eating something that has been in the ocean is appealing? Sand in your sandwiches is bad enough.
  2. A proud zero. (Though I do know that Comic-Con was cancelled this year.)
  3. What a trip! $16 to see David Bowie!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I didn't mind the winning designs, but I felt the team was one of several that completely ignored the instructions to make the female look male, and the male look female. I think maybe they could have been recognized as a top look, but the win should have gone to designers who did what they were asked.
  5. https://pyermoss.com/blogs/runway/collection-3 (You have to scroll past the song.) The guest judge's most recent collection. Nothing particularly innovative there that would then be co-opted by some wealthy white designer. as far as I'm concerned. Also, in the first row, you can clearly see that Kiki's overwrought red carpet look was influenced by him, down to the color. I don't know why he was so determined to defend her shoddy, unwearable work. And the link below is to his Reebok collection, which has lots of items that look similar to the British pairs', which he dismissed as "dated." https://pyermoss.com/collections/reebok-collection-3-men
  6. This and previous posts remind me of my irritation when people describe, for example, a prisoner as being "hung" rather than "hanged." I realize it's a long lost battle, but it still annoys me!
  7. The premise is great, but somehow the producers made the show boring. The addition of the unbearable woman trying to make "ding dong" a thing made me skip from episode 2 to the last few minutes. For once, the winner was the one I loved in the episodes I saw!
  8. Pediasure. I want to exterminate the kid with the hideous voice and teeth. Aren't consumers supposed to have a positive response to commercials?
  9. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer - my point was that rather than draw excessive attention to one child because of a disability, maybe she could have been accommodated more subtly.
  10. And crap in the water. No paper and pencils in the Brownies? Or am I just too old-fashioned? 🙂
  11. Because of, amongst other things, where and when she grew up. If you were born in 1910 in a rural village, you were not exposed to the diversity our children are today. Yes, there was probably the "flamboyant" local guy, but he was accepted as that. Oscar Wilde was a scandal, but I'm sure that even then if he were discussed, the words gay or homosexual would never even have come up.
  12. My grandmother loved Liberace beyond all reason, but if she'd ever entertained the idea (or even the concept) of his being gay she would have . . . I don't know what.
  13. "She was widowed on the eve of WW II (my grandfather was buried on 12/5/41)" Perhaps rather than dismissing two years of combat and countless deaths, a more considerate wording from MARYPAT57 would have been something like "She was widowed in 1941 on the eve of US engagement in WW II after Pearl Harbor". (Poorly written I know, but you get what I mean, I hope.)
  14. World War II started in 1939. I'm sorry, but why would I know that you're black?
  15. Thanks everyone. Still battling. They're just so little and nasty. Frankly, I'd rather deal with wasps.
  16. As a woman, I'd rather not think about yeast unless it's in the context of bread baking.
  17. You're making a huge assumption that they have insurance. We obviously run in different circles! You mean like a lynching? He thought that was funny?
  18. West Wing because I love the superfast, witty, intelligent dialogue and all the main characters. (The producers would have to somehow, and miraculously, bring John Spencer back though.)
  19. Have you tried this site? Not particularly cheap but generally great quality. Available in different lengths, figure flattering, and don't make you look like Mrs Ingalls Wilder! Looks like free shipping on returns. https://www.marksandspencer.com/us/l/women/dresses-and-jumpsuits/
  20. Broadchurch, because a month of intelligent TV fiction with David Tenant would make me a very happy person.
  21. If you hate the concept, why watch all these different shows?
