  1. Underwhelmed by this episode. If there isn't better plot development and longer scenes, there is no way I can stay engaged. Each episode feels like ADD, quick scene, cut, quick scene, switch., it just doesn't feel focused to me. I may be in the minority, but I used to smart well written shows and this is just a circus to me. Last season was entertaining so I watched but two episodes into this season and I'm already bored. If they are going to start their own label then let's go, instead the next scene it's already falling apart. The Ludacris character was pointless and wasted good screen time for a regular character. Hakeem's scene with the Latina girl was pointless, too. I so want this show to do well but I'm having doubts about it long term.
  2. I just binged watched the series last week and thanks to the afterbuzz show I really enjoy all the nuances and details. Enjoyed this episode and Helens perspective. Totally didn't catch that was Max from last season until I read it here, how did I not realize that? The web just gets more and more tangled. Presumably, Noah doesn't know about those two yet and I would imagine Helen doesn't know Max knew about the affair before she did. Oh the sex scene, felt so bad for Helen there, and drugs! Max definitely sucks. Still hate Helen's mom. I, too, enjoyed the differences in the mediation. I always figure the truth is somewhere in between both perspectives. I look forward to seeing Cole's POV. IMO, so far, he's the most redeemable character in the show, and he's a drug dealer.
  3. Tamia was promoted to captain before filming started back but through some dramatic events that I won't get into on the forum, she is no longer on the team and she is a Purple Diamond now.
  4. I can't place any scenes from the trailer either.
  5. I thought so, too. His hair looked more gray to me. Although all presidents get more gray so it kind of works.
  6. Does anyone know who the seconds are this season?
  7. Viola almost made me cry, such a great speech, I, too, loved her mentions of other black lead actresses. So happy for her and Regina King. Also glad Modern Family didn't win. Find that show about as funny Andy S. Never heard of him before and after tonight, hearing him again will be too soon. Horribly unfunny, ymmv, of course, but I didn't think the audience was too amused most of the night either.
  8. Good info from producer Kent Weed to Entertainment Weekly: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/09/14/american-ninja-warrior-winner
  9. According to an ew.com interview with one of the producers, there will be both a USA vs. World competition similar to last year and also an all-star competition with "co-ed "all-stars" competing in teams on each of the stages.
  10. Wow, that was a blood bath. I've watched every season of this show and I've never seen that many cut at the end. I agree with the cuts though save for Sheila who I didn't know existed until tonight. Boy, Melissa has been useless this season, pretty much everyone she has helped has been cut. Kendall had balls but she couldn't back it up unfortunately.
  11. Wow. I did not know that. Thought he was still with his wife. It's so much better when I don't know about these people's personal lives. It's definitely time for him to get a job (even odd jobs) otherwise he's destined to become the American version of Mr. Ninja Warrior.
  12. Finally a winner, yay! Definitely need a course redesign last year, several got past the cliffhanger and the other obstacles didn't produce any failures except the rock climbing wall and it was definitely smaller than last year. I'm surprised only 8 out of 38 people made it past stage 2. Wasn't sad to see Brent fall, he and Kacy are the only contestants that really annoy me. Bummed for Joe M. but he had a good attitude. All in all, good episode. Still no excuse for not showing runs of people that finished S2, seriously, only 8 finished, don't put them in a montage.
  13. Her hair is still brown but she has blonde highlights. It looks good.
  14. I didn't like the women's Ninja Warrior when Japan did it. Megan Martin was interviewed on Ninja Podcast and she said she wouldn't do a women's version. She didn't like the over emphasis on balance and little to no strength. As far this weeks show. I felt bad for Kacy, NBC really hyped her up this year and I think it definitely took a toll. I actually think they dumbed down Stage 1 course in hopes a female would finish and instead they had way too many people finish the course. It will be interesting to see how they fare in Stage 2, as I expect it to be brutal to make up for stage 1. They definitely need to consider a redesign.
  15. Just finished S4 yesterday. Trailer looks interesting but not sure how this is going to work with Carrie not working for the CIA. It has a 24 vibe when Jack was no longer with CTU but always managed to get sucked back in. This will be the first season I'll see live, every other season I've seen via DVD or Hulu. Could anyone tell who Carrie was making out with in the trailer? Hope it was Quinn.
  16. Here's a story about Tessa, who tried out the last couple of years. Apparently, she had a stroke in December. They are incorrect about her being a DCC. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2015/07/23/former-nfl-cheerleader-partially-paralyzed-after-suffering-stroke/?intcmp=obnetwork
  17. I thought this was the strongest episode this season. I don't see how Jake and Papa Pope both exist. One has to die, right? He cant throw him in the hole this time since Mama Pope has that occupied. I liked the scene with Nellie and her daughter. So over Fitz and his mooning over Olivia but their scene was great. His calling out Mellie was mean but it probably needed to be said. Smelly Mellie was pretty funny and I saw it trending on twitter.
  18. I thought too many competitors finished stage one and for only two to complete stage two out of 18 is too hard. Congrats for Joe for making it as far as he did but that was the only run I enjoyed in the hour I watched (didn't see the first hour). So Brian Arnold's strategy didn't pan out. Not interested in next week. This has been a long and rather dissatisfying season. I miss Sasuke.
  19. Initially, I liked the Kacy story, but at this point, I am so over it. NBC just ran it into the ground, so I'm a little glad we don't have to hear about her anymore. I, too, would rather see all the people that finished instead of backstories, especially for the ones that fail or had backstories in the preliminaries AND the city finals. This has just dragged on forever. This is the first season I have watched this much of NBC's version and I am hanging by a thread. So much stalling and hype. It's ridiculous. I don't understand the Brian Arnold strategy either but I'm sure he's got his reasons, he's had like three months to do nothing but think about Ninja Warrior. I hope he gets a life after this, obsession never worked for Mr. Ninja Warrior.
  20. That was kind of intense. I felt bad for Megan and Hannah. It's strange that in the past, they've given candidates time to work on their weight but not this year. Paige's 13 pound weight gain didn't look as severe as Hannah's 11 pounds and Hannah is taller. They probably really need a team dietitian and a strength and conditioning specialist. I agree with Judy they don't need to bring veterans to camp that aren't uniform ready (or dance ready...um, Cassie). I don't like them giving weights out for the viewing audience or the girls, that's not healthy either, everyone has different body types. I can't believe Courtney is going to quit her job in order to be a DCC and I was even more surprised Kelly supported it. Pharmaceutical sales will get her farther in life than being a DCC. Ver sad, IMO.
  21. I read the blog post about the barbies. Very cool. So I see Hannah got a Barbie last year. She has definitely fallen. But she did just graduate from college, she's probably focused on finding a career. It's hard to put all of your energy into your part-time gig/hobby. Melissa Rycroft hasn't bothered me at all. Frankly, I was surprised CMT didn't bring her in after her first stint on DWTS. She is their most famous alumni. I doubt she'll bring in many new viewers but I suppose it's worth a try. Based on the editing, she might have taken other girls aside during their practice, but we never really know.
  22. There has been a lot of talk about weight the last few years. It was weird for Hannah to ask for tips, last year she looked naturally thin. And poor Veronica is probably over exercising. I figure these girls must starve themselves before auditions and then realize they are bound by contract to those weights for their entire DCC lives. It's so difficult to lose those those last few pounds of vanity weight, the female body just isn't designed to have body fat that low.
  23. I was trying to figure out where they were too (I live outside of Nashville). I'm not surprised the competitions were poorly organized in season 1 but I would have expected for them to be much better organized and promoted for this season. I was bummed I hadn't heard about the Nashville comp but considering how it went down, I guess I am glad I didn't know. I was a little surprised they didn't finish the competition for Lifetime but maybe they liked the drama.
