  1. He went far enough fast enough in both the qualifying and the finals but it's true he didn't hit a buzzer. Way to go NBC! They just completely spoiled Geoff's run, not that it wasn't telegraphed but seriously?! ETA: I guess that was footage from last year...WOW.
  2. Brent qualified. Only women have gotten wild cards the past two years.
  3. He used to be a maintenance director, I believe at a nursing home, before he quit his job to focus on ninja warrior. Not sure what he sells but he's trying to find ways for ninja competitors to get paid so they can train full time. He and his Wolfpack bunch are doing a US tour in which they have a Kickstarter trying to raise $25,000 to build obstacles. I don't think they're going to make their goal though.
  4. His girlfriend, Shanda, has been referred to as his wife incorrectly a few times by the show...perhaps they didn't like "pregnant girlfriend" back in 2013 or they they wrongfully assumed. They have a child together and she has two kids from a previous relationship that lives with them also.
  5. Sal, Grace, Dorenbos got thru on votes. Tapeface was Dunkin' save and Laura B was judges pick over Edgar. I'm so bummed about Deadly Games, I thought they had the best act last night. So tired of singers...
  6. I enjoyed Jessie's run but I would've enjoyed it more if NBC hadn't given away last week that she made it up the wall. Yes, all the wild cards were girls again: 2016 wild cards . I don't mind some being girls, but not all of them, really no more than 15, I don't even remember several of these girls. I really think they use them to even out the playing field because the difficulty varies in each city. I actually thought this course wasn't all that hard, seems pretty similar to last year. Most of the veterans that went out was kind of flukish, probably taking obstacles for granted. They spend so much time training for Stage 2 and 3 and it's the little stuff that can get you.
  7. Brittany certainly came off looking the best. I'm not sure I'd recommend anyone go to the lengths she does but she does what it takes and she has their trust. I thought the defense coordinator, QB coach, and offensive coordinator were pretty good people, too. They basically had the role of Mike Pence, constantly having to smooth things over the head guy does, LOL.
  8. Hell no I would not want my kid playing for this guy. I didn't see any evidence he cares about these kids at all. There was a moment when DJ got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for a touchdown dance and Buddy showed restraint cause clearly DJ was kind of fragile mentally at that point but other than that I could see no signs of care. He was constantly running the kids down and preaching violence constantly which most coaches are trying to get away from that verbiage, heck in the NFL, you'd probably get fined. Who wants to be cussed out every practice and game? Definitely seemed like he lost the team a couple of times although I did find it funny when one of the players tried to stand up for him during the post-game ordeal with the security officers.
  9. Finished today. Don't know what to make of it. I so wanted a happy ending for these guys but what a mess. On one hand, as a black person, this docu series only perpetuated stereotypes. These kids were really pretty broken, quit at the drop of a hat, won't go to class, lack of trust...just really frustrating. I'm glad Ollie was an offer although I've never heard of Nicholls State. I am familiar with SEMO and Murray State. I hope he grows up, I can't believe he sent that tweet about SEMO. Unfortunately, DJ Law is still ineligible to play. Brittany was definitely the star, talk about bend over backwards. She was amazing really, the glue that holds that program together. The assistant coaches seemed pretty level headed but the head coach was like Bobby Knight on steroids. Frankly, I'm shocked he kept his job through all that, pushing a player, fighting a ref, his taking a timeout before halftime likely triggered the brawl, dude just go to halftime, you've got a whole other half to run up the score. Glad the offensive coordinator moved on, he seemed way too classy to be under Buddy. But, that said, I'm all in for Season 2.
  10. Last year, stage 1 was two weeks and stages 2-4 were one long episode.
  11. I could tell the rolling thunder was easier, seemed like they shortened it, too. I was so bummed Michelle Warnky fell, she was soooo close. I'm glad Jesse "Flex" made it and too bad Geoff couldn't make it eight buzzers in a row, but I will be rooting for him in Vegas for sure. I agree they gave too much away for Jesse's run next week.
  12. I don't have a problem with the dive, to me, she just wanted it more. I do feel bad for Allyson, she was so devastated. I haven't liked the semifinals and finals running so close together this whole olympics. I would rather the semifinals be in the morning instead of an hour or 90 minutes before the race.
  13. I don't like the 2 per country rule either, but once they dwindled to five people teams, it's almost a necessity because usually only 2 or 3 people are doing the all around in qualifying anyway, you want there to be some internal competition. I get track and swimming because it limits the amount of overall competitors, which is important. I think it was Romania also, because they had three on the podium in 1996, too (silver, two tied for bronze).
  14. Yes, 9.79 is very good. 88 olympics was before my time so it was very insightful and disturbing. There's a guy that basically admits to spiking Ben Johnson's beer after the race so he would get popped. Granted, he had doped in the off-season and at that time they didn't test during the off-season. When they enacted off season testing, Flo-Jo retired a week later. Maybe she would've anyway...who knows. Here's a good article about what happened to the guy that claimed to have sold her HGH: What happened to Flo-Jo's accuser
  15. Can Katie go sub 8 minutes? Seems possible. Crazy. Brook Bennett won in 8:27 in Atlanta. Janet's record was 8:17, 8:04 is just amazing. So, so happy for Maya Dirado. Her and Simone Manuel have just tugged the heart strings, so awesome to see people surprise themselves.
  16. And they didn't bother to show how the Americans ended up either
  17. He chose not to run this year. The Wolfpack ninja podcast interviewed him a few months back and he's over the way NBC produces the show. He didn't like the way he was portrayed and hated the nickname they game him "the natural". He loves parkour and never trained specifically for ANW and doesn't want to spend all his training for it and feels that's where the show is going.
  18. I agree that they need a partnership with Hulu or Netflix. You can only stream the events live as they happen from NBC's website or app. In order to watch replays, you have to have a subscription to NBS Sports Network. It's really screwed up.
  19. I came here thinking I must've missed gymnastics in the first hour but they haven't even mentioned it? WTH! It really is all about swimming for NBC but since when does beach volleyball get aired over gymnastics.
  20. I have to disagree with Rowdy, I don't think that was great TV. So much events going on in the olympics bad we're stuck waiting on a semi watching athletes in a ready room. Really? There was nothing else to fill that time... On a positive note, Lilly King is everything. Love her.
  21. Chusotovina still competing is amazing. I couldn't believe Marian Drãgulescu is competing in another Olympics as well, he's 35. If that tweet finally gets Trautwig fired, I would be oh too happy. Nastia is a huge improvement over Elfie, I'm so glad they made that change.
  22. Noah Kaufman was on the RHAP Ninja Warrior podcast this past week and he said Meagan couldn't get up the warped wall because it was too wet. After her failed second attempt, they paused and the staff wiped down the wall with towels. After all that, she made it up the wall.
  23. Missed half the acts but I'll comment on what I did see. Really liked Deadly Games and Dorenbos and the opera girl did a really great job with The Prayer. I was disappointed by Tapeface, I agree with Heidi and Mel B, he peaked at his first audition. The dance duo in the box was underwhelming and the guy singer bored me. I don't know what to think about the 90 year old lady. Part of me wished she had more dance steps, part of me wishes someone else had that spot, I suppose it was nice to let her have her moment, perhaps she will inspire others to pursue their dreams, but I didn't get warm fuzzies, I just found it really weird. Love Nick but hated his outfit and hairdo tonight. 28 from judges cuts + 5 golden buzzers = 33 acts or 28 from judges cuts + 9 golden buzzers = 37, can someone explain how they have 36...
  24. I agreed with all seven acts going thru. I wouldn't have given the golden buzzer to John but I was glad it didn't go to a singer. Lori was my favorite, I think she's so good at that age, I've only liked the transgender comic better. Passing Zone, while their tricks are a bit secondary, they really know how to create build up in a short amount of time and they put on a good show.
