  1. LOL!!! That summed the scheduling up nicely and made me laugh. I felt sorry for Ali. She seemed like someone I would like a lot in real life. She's probably still embarrassed, especially now that people are watching her implode. I have no problem with Justine's accent. I just find her way too perky, maybe deliberately so.
  2. I think that was my problem with it. I'm certainly familiar with the Rudolph/Christmas connection. In fact, my older daughter (who is now 57 y/o) has collected abominable snowmen for years. A few years ago, I bought one for her that winds up and walks around on the floor singing. Her dog is afraid of it. LOL Anyhow, I didn't like them in settings where they didn't belong.
  3. I was going to say the same thing. I think he won but I'm not 100% sure. I really like him. So far I like all the bakers. I find Justine annoying but I don't actually dislike her. I was sorry to see Ali go. She was one of my early favorites but I can't argue with her elimination. I've been trying to remember the name of a one-off show a couple years ago that followed several people making creations for some huge cake competition somewhere on the east coast - maybe Virginia. One of the people was the "glamorous" woman with an English accent from a couple years ago and another was, I think, Sharrad. I might be mixing him up with someone else but he looked familiar to me right away.
  4. The characters displayed by the team that lost in the first hour were the worst I can remember seeing since this show began. I was surprised the judges weren't more critical. Maybe they felt that sending them home was criticism enough. I'm not sure what an abominable snowman riding a bull has to do with the holidays but it did turn out a lot better than I expected it would. There seemed to be friction on all the teams in the second hour. I hope that stops.
  5. I remembered him as soon as I saw him. I think he won that season but I wouldn't swear to it. He deserved to win last night. Those curtains he made were sort of fascinating. I remember the very first cookie show. It was quite different. The room they were in was much smaller. I don't recall who the judges were right now but they definitely weren't Ree and Eddie. I do remember that one of the losing contestants was a smug woman who had worked for Martha Stewart and the winner made cookies that didn't exactly meet the challenge but got away with it and I was annoyed.
  6. I read a post on Reddit by someone who had competed in an earlier season. He/she said that they worked in two long blocks of time with a lunch break at the same time as the crew. If they had to use the bathroom during filming time, they just had to go while their partner kept working. They were escorted everywhere, no cell phone usage during lunch and no talking about their builds with other teams. He/she said that days were very long and everyone had fun but they were all exhausted by the end.
  7. The hive/mummy was bad. I couldn't decide between the other two. They were both very good. I liked the disco but those flies were awfully cute and well-done. I kept wondering where the UK team was from. They just said UK but they sounded more Irish than English to me so I wondered if maybe Northern Ireland. I'm probably not even close.
  8. I have read that the round 2 judges actually taste the dishes backstage away from the competitors and what we see is really just them giving their verdict. I have no idea if that's actually the case but it would explain how they can make rather comprehensive comments after taking one bite.
  9. I hope she leaves soon. She has a terrible mouth on her, worse than the others, and a bad attitude. I cringed when she said she has six kids. I'll bet their teachers love them.
  10. Axe-throwing would be my idea of nothing to do but my daughter did it once with a work group and said it was fun. Gordon had axe-throwing on his Food Stars show too. I noticed that they show him poised to throw and then an axe hitting the bull's-eye but you can't see who actually threw it. :) I'm glad he got rid of whatever her name was tonight. She had one of the worst cases of lack of self-awareness I've ever seen. Most of the red team aren't much better.
  11. I wondered that myself. Under what circumstances would you make a dessert that has to be smashed like that? And then eaten? Yuck.
  12. I like him too. I've been rooting for Ryan all along but I wouldn't be unhappy if James won. Hollie is creative but ugh. I was sort of shocked when they showed a picture of her son back home.
  13. IMO She was one of the most obnoxious people ever on these baking shows. If she started the gore trend, that's one more thing I hold against her. :)
  14. Chaminda is extremely talented and I'm glad he won but I agree that wasn't his best piece. I actually liked Dan's better. Ethan's was good but I was getting a little annoyed by his teenage ego. He has a lot of potential though. Rebecca was a distant fourth.
  15. I've always liked Dean so I was sorry to see him leave but I have to admit that it was the right decision. I like Nils too so now I hope his team wins. The all-women team did a great job this time but they've had some clunkers so I guess the finale will be anyone's game.
  16. I wasn't really impressed with any of the creations last night but I did agree with the winner. I wish FN would stop making teams pretend they are coming up with their elaborate plans on the spot. It started way back on Cupcake Wars and it's still ridiculous.
  17. I agree. I think Ryan and James are top two. Ryan for the win.
  18. I really think Chaminda should carve something in a permanent material (not on this show). He is immensely talented. I've seen things in galleries not as good as what he can do in pumpkin in a few hours. That lion head and his Batman figures were marvelous.
  19. I thought maybe I just wasn't paying attention but I didn't recall hearing a word about lava during the assignment so I was surprised as well. It became obvious that they all had to use it. I don't begin to understand why the losing team opted to ignore the very clear requirement to make a volcano. They seemed like nice guys but they deserved to lose for not fulfilling the assignment. I hope those singing women go soon. They obviously see themselves as cute and quirky but I can't stand either of them.
  20. I was surprised by the tie for first. I thought the tree was good and I like the guy who made it (can't think of his name) but I thought the hot air balloon was the winner hands down.
  21. I've never heard of any of those "celebrities." I am old. :)
  22. The right team went home. I'm sorry to lose the French guy but I haven't liked the woman since the "Road to....." show when she interviewed. I'm rooting for Dean's team all the way.
  23. I wanted Mike to win but his 4th dessert seemed simple and less than impressive. The others had flaws too so I don't know how the judges made their decision. In the end, I don't feel too bad for Mike because he's a doctor and probably needed 50K a lot less than Ashlee. I suspect he wasn't doing it for the money in the first place. I was shocked when I noticed that Ashlee is only 33 y/o. All this time, I thought she was in her 50s based on looks. Her daughter looked mostly grown too. This show was new to me so I had no idea that it was on season 4. I'll have to see if I can find the previous seasons.
  24. Oh, me too! Then the one sang her description of their project. Gag. Can't stand them. The woman with the "Karen" haircut (which looks great on her) reminds me of Erin from HGTV. I keep doing a double-take when I see her.
  25. I wouldn't be at all surprised. Or maybe he worked for years as a line cook and the reason he worked at so many places is that he kept getting fired. He's obnoxious. She was practically in his lap. Who sits that close to someone when they're trying to eat? I wonder if he rented her for the occasion.
