  1. Accents? That made me laugh because I live about 200 miles south of Milwaukee and they sound perfectly normal to me. It reminded me of when Jeff Mauro first came on the scene at FN and people were complaining about his awful Chicago accent which I didn't notice unless I looked for it. It also reminded me that, when I first moved to the Midwest from Buffalo, the locals thought I had a terrible accent. I guess you notice what you're not used to. Yes. Their jingle for years was "Miller High Life, the champagne of bottled beer." I toured the brewery years ago and the pipes and machinery several stories high were kind of awesome. And they gave us free beer at the end. :) I don't like Amanda. Apparently Charly is brighter than he looks. I like Michelle. The rest of them are still in a "to be determined" category. I don't even have most of their names straight yet. I did not know that it's possible to cook with hops. I'd never seen one and had no idea what those green things were when the segment opened. I was impressed by how well most of the chefs were able to cope with them.
  2. I could easily be remembering wrong but it seems to me that LCK never started until a few episodes in. Either way, I didn't miss hat guy. He wouldn't have stood a chance against Soo. I liked Valentine (except for the awful beard) but the other dish looked better.
  3. I always think the same thing when I watch the kids' baking shows. I've often wondered how the judges can put some things in their mouths.
  4. The cake was a failure but it was mostly Sabrina's fault. She screwed up something she claimed to be really good at and then blamed the mess on "time" during judging. I felt bad for Katelyn who was really trying to salvage the bake. Sabrina needed to go.
  5. That's pretty much how I always saw her. I thought of her as a beauiful ice princess with a very high opinion of herself. The only time I thought she seemed warm and empathetic was when she rallied around Fatima. I don't see Kristen as a warm and fuzzy type either (neither am I) but she seems genuine.
  6. I rather doubt she had any warm fuzzy feelings for hat guy. I sure didn't.
  7. Chris seemed like a nice enough guy but I couldn't get past the tattoos on his head and neck. I won't miss him. I think Von and Zach will make it to the finale but I don't have a clue about the third one. It'll probably be a woman but none of them have really impressed me.
  8. Me too! I was rooting against him as soon as he opened his mouth. Tom didn't think much of him either. :) Glad he went out first. I liked the pitmaster gal right away and I'm glad she did so well. Valentine seems nice but I hate his big bushy beard. I don't have the rest of them sorted yet. I wasn't a big fan of Kristen when she was on TC. She was clearly very good but she seemed to have zero personality. That was years ago though and I hadn't seen her since. I thought she did great. In fact, I liked her better than Padma. My only hope is that she doesn't wear sleeveless tops all season. I hate seeing that in a kitchen.
  9. She was my first choice to go home. She didn't seem to do anything except shred enough cabbage for nine plates. That can't possily take an hour. They didn't really show what else she was or wasn't doing. I won't miss either of those girls although I do think making a small 9 y/o the team leader may have been a deliberate way to eliminate her. I get a kick out of the blond boy with glasses. Alfred?
  10. I don't think I would have realized any of those desserts were supposed to be abstract bugs if I hadn't been told beforehand. Even knowing the assignment, I thought most of them were really reaching.
  11. It's noticeable to me that Guy treats the judges with more respect than he does the competing chefs.
  12. I had very mixed emotions during the first round because I wanted both Michael and Antonia to win. In the end, I think Michael handled the loss better than she would have and I was happy for her. I don't actively dislike Shirley but I've found her annoying since TC and I like Kevin a lot so I was very happy when he won the second round. I was also happy for Tobias. I like him. Round four was a disappointment but not a surprise. I was rooting for Eric all the way, partly because I like him and partly because Maneet has become a bit arrogant since she won her belt. There was nothing decadent about Eric's dish so I was fully expecting him to lose on that count. I've always thought that he could have won TC if he had planned his dishes better and this was no different.
  13. Aaron is not the brightest chef out there, He uses a lot of words wrong. Just ignore him. :) Gordon does seem to be giving Jordan a lot of attention and I don't understand why. Personally, I would have sent him packing last week for wearing those ripped jeans. Zach (?) is one of my favorites too but I don't understand his hair. He's a white guy with dreadlocks long enough to coil? I keep wondering if that's really his hair or a fake coil he wears to identify wih his island background. It seems like it would be uncomfortably heavy if it's real hair.
  14. I loved it and I'm looking forward to next week.
  15. Michael was fun and quirky and I liked him but he was the obvious choice for elimination. He wasn't a bit surprised. FN must have hired new hair and makeup people. Nancy looks she went to Guy Fieri's barber and there was something very weird going on at Kardea's right temple. I coulldn't tell if it was hair or some kind of stenciling.

    Chopped 2024

I liked all the contestants for a change. I fell asleep during the dessert course. Who won?
  17. I had those three plus pageant girl on my dislike list, I was on the fence about Bryson after his intro but he was fine and respectful during judging so I'm OK with him so far. The boy with the missing hand must have good parents. He was comfortable talking about it and showing his assistive device and he seemed to be managing quite nicely. I was sure they weren't going to eliminate him first. I have never liked Daphne Oz but, if I had never seen her before, I wouldn't have had any problem with her tonight.
  18. There seems to be a lot of talent this season. The woman who went home was the obvious choice. She didn't even get the "adventure" part of the assignment. Her decoration was meaningless without an explanation. I didn't like Kardea on the Elf on the Shelf show before Christmas but she's doing fine here. Nancy is her usual PIA and her hair was a mess.
  19. I agree about Maneet. I've always liked her but she seems to have a much higher opinion of herself since she won TOC. It's not flattering. She once said she has her beautiful and undoubtedly expensive chef coats made for her in India. Pairing them with ripped jeans is the opposite of classy. I liked Nini when she was on TC. I didn't think she was a strong chef but I was hoping she'd win. I thought the same thing about the broken glass. I was surprised she used the champagne and even more surprised that they let her. That would never have flown on Chopped. I wish they'd stop making the previous winners walk around with those ridiculous belts. I get it when the whole group first walks in. After that, it just looks stupid. I am really sick of Nancy Silverton.

    Chopped 2024

I would have been OK with any of the three men in the finale winning provided they clearly outcooked the others. However, I was glad Peter won because he'd had to do a lot more to earn it. I thought Josh had the better dessert but that wasn't the sole deciding factor. I think the format of this tournament has some inherently unfair problems as others have said. I hope they don't do it again.
  21. Um.......... I don't know what the X1 platform is - or maybe I'm just ignorant. :) So I dunno.
  22. I wonder if the problem lies with your local provider. I have Comcast and everything recorded properly including the qualifying rounds.
  23. The thing is.............. Most people probably know more about international foods than they think they do. This show always started off with easier things and got harder so the first thing could have been something easy like sushi. I think he would have had a much better chance if he'd chosen that category. I recognized some of the names of the fashion icons but, except for Coco Chanel, I had no idea what they looked like. He was apparently in the same boat.
  24. When Justin was on FNS, I just couldn't stand him because he was such a young wise guy. Then he matured and I gradually realized that he is highly intelligent and knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. Now he's actually one of my favorite people on FN. Funny how that happens. Mei Lin is another one. Her talent was obvious when she was on TC but she was surly and they had to bleep every other sentence because of her bad language. She seems a lot more congenial now and I'm warming up to her.
