  1. So far, so good. I didn't immediately dislike anyone which hasn't been true with previous seasons. That may change. I liked Keith and wanted him to stay instead of the woman. However, he was very overweight and had already complained of a physical issue so I'll bet the PTB were glad to eliminate a possible souce of liability. Can't blame them really.
  2. The best part of the show was seeing the woman with the giant flower leave. When they showed the clip of another competitor calling her "cocky," I figured she must have annoyed everyone including the producers. I think I knew two of the country singers although I'd heard of most of them. I just don't know what they look like. I've found that to be true for me with many of the categories that show just pictures of people. I wonder how many contestants are actually expert in their categories vs. people who have been assigned to them. A comparison might be interesting. It looks like some are selected for looks or personality or something rather than expertise.
  3. This isn't a very strong opinion because I realize it's not exactly valid but................ I've never liked Schnauzers, mainly because I lived next door to one once and it barked constantly. Also I don't find them attractive. However, I've seen hundreds of comments everywhere saying what a great dog Monty is so I have to bow to people who know the breed which I do not.
  4. "I thought the redhead was in danger when she announced she would be baking with both matcha and lavender. Yuck! " Hmmmm. That didn't copy/paste properly. Anyway, that's exactly what I thought - the flavor combination was awful and too much. Kardea said the flavors were balanced well. I'm not sure how that is even possible. I like Piper though so I'm glad she stayed. I've been expecting Jack to win the whole thing so I was shocked by his elimination. If his cake tasted raw, I guess I can't complain. I was happy for Micah. He's a cutie and one of my favorites. He sounds like a kid but his vocabulary and sentence structure are quite adult. His parents probably never talk "down" to him.
  5. I look forward to this every year. All the dogs are great but I keep hoping a collie or a golden retriever will win some day. I loved watching the agility finals on Saturday too.
  6. I'm glad this show is back. I hope they don't screw it up with too many new twists. I wonder if they are going to rerun last night's episode on Wednesday or start with episode 2. I can't imagine that most fans of the show stayed up as late as I had to to watch it after the SuperBowl. I think nerves must have got to several of the people who lost. Some of them seemed to be missing fairly easy things. That smug woman with the huge flower on her dress can go any time. She may be smart but she's very annoying.
  7. I don't know why I bothered clicking on the above link but I did and Kyle sounds just as crude, vulgar and egotistical as I imagined. Disgusting.
  8. I'm glad I bailed on this season a couple weeks ago. I couldn't stomach Kyle from the git go and the idea that he actually won is just ............yuck. He may be a good cook but I wonder how long he'll last in a real kitchen with real line cooks.
  9. I've read quite a bit about Fabio over the years and he seems to be one of the hardest working chefs in the business. I doubt he needs something to do. The only time I can remember seeing him compete after TC was on BBF (which he won) - which is not to say he hasn't competed, just that I'm not aware of it. I hope he does well on ToC.
  10. I kept thinking the same thing although I suspect that a lot of the shots we saw were filmed separately and spliced in. I think the bit with Josephine was added for example. The last time I saw her, she was still a toddler. Time flies. I had barely noticed the girl who left so I won't miss her. I was very relieved that Piper and Ariel were safe. Jack deserved his win.
  11. I really didn't care which of the finalists won although I had a slight preference for the figure skater (already forgot his name). They weren't playing for themselves and all the money in the end went to animal charities so I was happy. As annoying as many of the contestants were, I have to give them credit for putting themselves through it all for charity - although the publicity probably doesn't hurt. I thought Jeff and Antonia worked well together. Antonia is a good host/mentor and Jeff toned down his OTT goofiness and did a good job. I hope they are more or less permanent if the show continues.
  12. I agree that she's doing just fine. I'm sure she knew all the controversy around Valerie leaving so I imagine stepping into that role was a bit intimidating. She's handled it well. I'm enjoying the animal theme and looking forward to the puppies next week. I like all the kids this year but Jack and Piper remain my favorites. I wonder if Duff will have his daughter make a quick "guest appearance." She must be 4 or 5 by now.
  13. I didn't have time to watch last night. I planned to watch this evening but accidentally got spoiled while scrolling on the internet and I was shocked to learn that Egypt was eliminated. I usually finish what I start but I'm not going to bother watching now - or next week for that matter. Egypt was the only one I liked. I'm meh on Hannah and I can't stand Kyle so I'm out. I'll check back here to find out what happens.
  14. I actually kinda liked Trinity although I never did figure out if he/she was male or female. I always thought all drag queens were male but there was a female drag queen on a couple seasons ago so now I'm not sure. I think the woman with the gross nails (and eyelashes) should have been gone several episodes ago. She should have been made to wear gloves - although I don't know what kind of kitchen gloves could stand up to those hideous claws. I don't like Wes but I won't be surprised if he's a finalist. Either he knew more about cooking than he let on at first or he's smart enough to pay attention to the coaching they get behind the scenes.
  15. I was very glad to see the last of Whit. I hope Kyle goes next. I wanted to reach into my TV and smack him 8 or 10 times for being so egotistical. I doubt that Gordon is going to pick someone that obnoxious even if he is a good cook. Hannah is OK but she's been tearful more than once and those piercings................ Maybe Gordon doesn't care about those. Dunno. I've been pulling for Egypt all along and I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't win. He hasn't made too many mistakes and, when he has, he's admitted it like a man. He's serious. Also he has nice eyes and an open smile. I think he's a good guy.
  16. Usually there are a couple kids I find annoying but I like all of them this year, especially Piper and Jack. I even liked the boy who went home first despite his lamentable haircut. What I do find annoying every year is all the shrieking and squealing and jumping up and down. I'm sure the producers require all that "enthusiasm" but it drives me nuts as does the big group hug at the end of all the baking shows. Kardea and Duff are working well together and I haven't really missed Valerie. Never thought I'd say that.
  17. I'd never heard of him and, at first, I thought he was a woman in some sort of reverse drag. He looks and sounds (to me) like someone's frowsy grandmother. There was a time when Anne wouldn't have allowed those awful long nails in the kitchen - or high heels and flammable wigs. Jeff and Antonia are doing a good job with what they have to work with but I miss the original premise of the show.
  18. I watched Chopped faithfully for years and enjoyed it. My interest started to decrease when they kept changing the judges and, since they made Tiffani F. a permanent judge, I rarely watch any more. Also I don't care for the special competitions with gimmicks. Still love Ted Allen though.
  19. I was always a big fan of how Duff and Valerie worked together on this show. I never saw her anywhere else so my impression was positive. Then, maybe a year ago, I started seeing comments various places saying that she was practically unhinged on her private pages and used a lot of foul language. I never checked for myself but, if that's true, I can understand why FN let her go. I have no problem with Kardea. So far, I like all the kids this season. I like Jack and the little redhead with freckles. Duff looked distressed when he had to send someone home. I imagine it's harder for him now that he has a little girl of his own.
  20. I'd never heard of a single one of these people before last night - and for that I am grateful. Most of them are worse than the regular loonies as they are acting extra campy on purpose. Where did all those small plates for the "family dinner" come from? I didn't see anyone make a dish large enough to serve everyone. I'm not sure why Carson was even there but I'm always happy to see him. Jeff and Antonia did just fine. Most of the cast members are ridiculous.
  21. Kyle and Whit are both creepy and unpleasant. I can't wait until they are gone although Amanda needs to go first. I don't mind Brandon but I think the only one worthy of winning is Egypt and I suspect Gordon thinks so too.
  22. I'd be interested to know how the prize is shared among three people when the amount isn't divisible by three. That has always seemed curious to me. Why set up something that will result in fractions of dollars?
  23. Hurray!!! The right team won! Congratulations, Jonathan! I thought your team was doing the best all through the show but the judges have fooled me before so I was still holding my breath while waiting for the decision. I especially loved the spider.
  24. I keep wondering how the trophy was managed. There were two people on a team and one trophy. It would be hard to share when the bakers don't even live in the same country.
  25. I didn't realize there was so much material to draw from. I'll keep everything crossed that the PTB who manage the museum saw value in allowing filming there.
