  1. The episode was strong and solid. The shoes of the first scene on Joan's feet though. NO! BURN THEM... seriously, WHO wears such an idiotic shoe, when there might be actual walking required? I like her ties. I like that she has a quirky style and that she has SOME personality. Because in TV land most women dress the same. I wouldn't dress like her but I like her style nonetheless. :)
  2. According to the bible, angels have no free will. The sin of Lucifer was not that he wanted to rule heaven but that he wanted to be free to choose what to do. Basically, rebellion against the will of god being automatically overruling his own. For the mother thing, we are veering into Judaism, because nothing in Christianity recognizes a female deity in regards to god. For the actress playing the mum, I'd quote Maze "stupid hot, wearing my clothes and with a credit card". I lol'ed. :) I enjoyed Trixie and I loved how much Lucifer projects. The supposed manipulation? I don't buy it. I don't think she was manipulating him but she has a long game prepared. The falling feathers was... sad and weird and confusing. Somebody said something about the show having mostly bad press? What the hell? Why? The only reason I can think of is some people having an issue since it is loosely based on Christian mythology but that would be ridiculous. Right???
  3. If I am an allpowerful being I wouldn't care how I'd looked and I would have ENJOYED to mess with people and their perceptions. Would you? :) In regards to Lucifer being naive, I am going to pick a bit into Christian mythology and point out that actually he IS stuck in hell for eternity and he has NOT left it, since its appearance. So even though he is really intelligent and powerful, he is also childlike (this is THIS interpretation at least) and mostly treating the whole thing as an adventure. If you check the comics, the Lucifer there is REALLY different. Unrelenting. Smart, driven. He has NOTHING above him. As per the comics, he left and gave the keys to Dream. HERE? In TVVerse? We don't know if he met Dream at all, he just left, apparently. So... I may assume there are other powers at play? This one is... cheerful. Funny. Confused. Scared. I think it can be presented as "while around Chloe, he is more human and has humanlike emotions and feelings AND has caught the human condition". It makes no sense for his compassion and actions prior to meeting her so... we don't know.
  4. Yup, the demon child has been done but the point is, one can get REALLY creative. :) I would cast this REALLY old lady with a steely attitude. Or... a woman who is hellbent (hah) to drink, eat and enjoy everything she can... while bemoaning her hip, cussing and being... an old woman. Or they can get creative and make her actually open up topics with life and being older? Anyway. It was just something I mused about, sorry for the derail.
  5. I don't think we, as an audience, would be surprised by the twist. I mean... "Van Helsing"... not a stretch to figure it out. I didn't like it, tbh. We shall see, I guess.
  6. Mostly, because it has been done to death and mostly because it is female characters to whom this happens. :) I remember I read a quote of an actress from the 70ies in the vein of "I played (actor)'s daughter, sister, wife (different roles). I assume that I would have played his mother, hadn't he had died of old age." This is nothing new. Women are accepted as long as they are (perceived as) young and attractive. Past 40ies, we see a sharp decline to their total disappearance from the screen. And that starts really early. We have actresses being cast as mothers of male actors with less than 10 years of their age or of actors who are way too old to have been born by somebody in their actual age range (twentysomething being mother of a teen, especially when the actress is NOT supposed to have been a teenmom). Where and what is my problem? My problem is that acting, as any other skill, develops with time. And when we remove older women actresses, we only are left with young and either incredibly talanted young women actresses or, more likely, experienced older male actors and forgetable female actresses, because they are still finding and honing their skills. Question is, what is our main goal, to look at eyecandy or to look at good actors performing well on the screen? If it is the eyecandy, one can stick to models and there are a bajilion episodes of "America's Next Top Model". Considering women are half the population and actually we are not in it ONLY for the female eyecandy and we also pay, why are we treated like nonentity? Answers like "marketable" actually is not a real answer, mostly because good actors and well written sctips sell better than young actors and badly written sctipts. :) And I have the numbers to prove it. Question about Lucifer, why do we need to be age-appropriate. We don't really and actually this actress is quite good. It just jumped at me because I was watching another TV show in which I saw the same thing but there was no supernatural explanation... just a 30year old actress with a son played by 20something year old actor. :) The idea that you will have an older woman playing a character ONLY if there was a reason is... well, the implications of it, I am uninterested in unpicking, mostly because it is ugly, kind of sad and... boring. So... as I said, we shall see how it goes. I REALLY hope it goes well. I was just thinking about the wasted potential and since the entity that is Lucifer's mother could occupy only the body of a recently dead person, it is somewhat convenient it was a leggy, attractive blond. The same way it is super convenient the main female characters so regularly are supposed to be "normal/average" looking women who are played by models/the most gorgeus women you can think of". I can make a list of the currently trending tv shows (let us stick to Cops Drama of some sort), sans VERA (which is actually Brittish), I am unable to name a female leading role in which the actress is NOT smoking hot and/or looking at WORST in her 30ies. So it stops being that much of a "choice of the individual production" and turns into a pattern that one can unpick. I honestly hope I explained myself clearly? (P.S. Yes, Media BA here, I assume it is showing.)
  7. Ah, the trope of "an actress the same age as the the male actor, will play his mother". Meh, I am always bored by it. We shall see, I guess.
  8. Damn, I really thought the mother is the new ME. Fail on that one. :) I am really uninterested in the wardrobe of Chloe, it's nice to see such a gorgeous person actually looking quite normal. I would not mind having her NOT her best hair, makeup and clothes. When did we get used to every female character looking amazing at every time, regardless of their character role? The mom... surprised me. Interesting bit about the Amendiel powers. Honestly, it was fun that it is Linda that is helping Maze but waaaay too predictable. Well, I can't wait for tomorrow. :)
  9. I do not get the drama with the photos. Hell, I was born in the 80ies and I have a bunch of b&w photos.
  10. Wait, I thought Hannah was sneaking in Jenna's room and when she found the locked box under the bed, Caleb hatched the plan to get the key. Otherwise it makes no sense?
  11. Since it turns out there is ANOTHER baby... you were right.
  12. I like the show and I like the fact that people are moving around normally. Nobody shouts, runs, screams and acts like 5 year olds in a kindergarten, especially in such line of a job. To me it looks perfectly normal. I like Stella and her calmness. All in all, will stick for season two as well. :)
  13. After finishing the season... most of the comments are unintentionally hilarious. :)
  14. Karen was shown as QUITE disturbed and bothered by killing Wesley and the death of Ben. I can even point scenes, individual scenes. Outside of it... of course there are less women in whatever area... recently I had the misfortune of reading how women in mining and other male-dominated areas are treated by their male colleagues. It was freaking disgusting... so... no wonder not more women want to subject themselves to such experiences. Also... sure, we are talking about undead ninjas... OF COURSE we are going for realism and realistic men/women proportion, you silly geese. That is why we watch superhero series... cause we want perfect realism... /end sarcasm.
  15. Scary thing is... I am kind of with Frank on the topic... to some extent anyway.
  16. After Sherlock deduces the identity of a masked vigilante and asks him to remove his mask. "How did you do that?" "I was bit by a radioactive detective."
  17. Someone really believes that FIVE years after two people split, it is not loyal to date their ex, even though one of the people is ENGAGED to somebody else? Really? Damn... that sounds quite... unbelievable. For us, the viewers, it looks like Spencer started dating Caleb days after he split with Hanna... but in-universe, they have been split for years. Hell, a friend of mine is dating my ex and we are still friends, even sometimes go places the 4 of us (I am dating somebody else as well) and though it was a biiit strange for a moment initially, all of us have clearly moved on and nobody has any trouble. Each of us is good friends with the others, so.. nobody minds the situation. And the situation is for a lot shorter time-frame than 5 years, mind you. I am quite surprised at the venom aimed at Spencer, especially since it is quite understandable that you will feel weird if you see the ex of your current boyfriend holding his hand AFTER shocking you emotionally in a very stressful situation (mother - sick, mind games with the opposition, murder, A and etc.). Either there are some incredible human beings which are above most of us here in the comments or we see some staggering hypocrisy and outright hate for people who have done nothing wrong in-universe... yet. We can discuss what Spencer has done wrong... but to accuse her of being responsible of TWO adult men and their actions towards her is none of that since she was underage. Since the most common claim was how disgusting it is that Ezra, an adult, was in a relationship with Aria, we can keep the logic when it affects Spencer. Should Spencer had stayed away of her sister's boyfriends? Hell, yeah... Was Wren also after Hannah? Sure. Was Ian obviously into young girls and foolling around with a 15 year old? Yes. So I may fault Spencer for her actions and reactions (not seeking friends and support or outside help for her insecurities), this is seriously the most idiotic argument that she somehow been disloyal to Hannah today, on the grounds of past actions involving underage girl and adult men. Hannah and Caleb have separated years ago... once broken up, you do not own your ex and they do not own you. It is not uncommon for people who experienced trauma to stick close together and these 5 have been trough some serious shit, I completely buy that Caleb and Spencer may fall for each other. TBH, Hannah and Caleb had great chemistry and look sweet together, I do not like Jordan... but throwing characters under the bus and hating them without any real in-universe reason is plain stupid.
  18. I got pissed beyond words when I read in the comments someone explaining how JJ is being a victim wrong, by being aggressive, loud, cussing, drinking, having sex, being destructive... (wasn't said with those words, but was implied) and that she is not in control of her emotions (again, as a negative)... and that because Kilgrave is not presented as cool but as comical (I shuddered at that), that makes JJ weak by being dominated by a clown... i couldn't read the rest. The text... bleh, didn't like.
  19. I enjoy how every actor who is added to the cast is greeted with loads of "I don't like him" before enough time has passed to establish... well... anything. So far, in most cases, that tune changes but then it goes again for the next.
  20. Well... emotional reaction is a possibility, which is stupid, but realistic. In regards to the argument, ok, sorry I kind of went overboard, it just weirded me out, because there is somewhat reasonable explanation and smart people react emotionally too... even more so, at times.
  21. Oh... same week as... Pretty Little Liars I think? Huh...
  22. In regards to Morland (I love the name, it is so British and in tune with the whole family), I confirm, I see him as someone who has realised he may have use for Sherlock and he wants him in top notch condition. Throwing money at your child does not equal parenting. Many people would have killed for that house... well... many people might and we still see someone who grew up with those money and got fucked up because they lacked adequate parenting. Seriously, is this a real argument? He can't have issues with his father parenting 'cause he's not on the streets? Amazing... so... if you are poor and you have little to provide to your children in regards... that makes you a bad parent? Because that is the other side of the argument. Throwing money at something so it doesn't bother you is not care nor consideration for their well-being and though I think that just because you are related to someone, if that person is of age and could care for themselves, you are not necessarily obliged to care for them, throwing money instead of supporting them is something I have issues with. Either you care... or you don't, this is neither. Agh, enough of ranting on the topic from me. The episode was nice. :)
