  1. I heard an interesting idea who the old guy is and that he was the first superhero, the justice guy. 🙂 That... makes a lot of sense, since it ties up with the anger and with the fact that the supposed real identity of him was murdered. In the comics his skin is NOT seen, he wears gloves. 🙂
  2. My only issue is that EXPENSIVE pearls would NEVER scatter like that, because they are not connected on a singular string. If they are a replica of the real pearls, they should be connected properly. On the other hand, we wouldn't have had the rolling pearls and it was for the plot but still.
  3. The show is getting better with each episode and I am quite happy with that. I am also incredibly amused that the little assholes who tried to bomb the show on Rotten Tomatoes only made it the most popular and recommended show. And by what I see, the ridiculously low audience review is actually slowly getting better and better. I love it when 4chan idiots own themselves. :) The best advertisement the creators could have come up with couldn't be better than this. Hehehehe. Ruby is finding her footing. The letters sound a bit stilted but Ruby is playing suave very nicely. I like Mary and I am sure she will learn about the identity very soon. About Sophie, from experience, this shit actually happens. Especially when others don't know one is in the closet with their current so. Quite awkward and there is no clear answer ir way to avoid it. As long as the show doesn't try to shame her, I am cautiously optimistic about that story line. They should not touch in any way the relationship between Sophie and her so, because it will be a crap move. I want to see more of the stepmom. Yay, hi, Nolan! Awww, bye Nolan...
  4. A bit wonky but I will tune back in, so... they did things right? I expect it will become better and it will feel more organic in time. Though my initial reaction to Dove was "Elsa?". :)
  5. I loved Jodie. She was fleshed out in a few subsequent episodes, if I recall correctly. I want to see a promo, trailer or something more before I jump on the wagon however.
  6. I actually googled it and... this is a somewhat standard model of resolving the issue. 3 months is apparently a reasonable time to have it almost under control and sorted. I know, it looked han-wave-y but at least it is based in realistic-ish hand-wave-y interpretation of a real condition. :) I enjoyed the situation with Kelsey. P.S. Holly fuck, Liu is 50??? I googled it out of complete curiosity and... daaaaaaaaaamn! She looks lat 30ies at best. Even sans makeup (some more googling).
  7. Oh, I think I know why the serial killer (Michael?) asked Sherlock. If HE doesn't find her, he can be sure and safe. This is cute. He also bets on Sherlock's diminished capacity and will probably have a contingency plan if Sherlock comes too close. Damn, this sounds interesting,
  8. This was fun and the bolt camera thing was surprisingly smart for that character. :) All in all, fun first episode! I was sure something was going to be off when that guy Sherlock called was outdoors and breathing hard. Damn.
  9. This is reminding me of the movie Prestige with :) The woman with the eyes may simply have heterochromia and i find it lovely. :) The actors are amasing and it is both cheesy and fun. I love it.
  10. P.S. Martin saying that they never played a scene as fucking lovers... he is either an idiot or he is blind and has zero understanding of coding. Moffat has been been yanking the "will they, won't they" queer baiting shtick since season 1. The last issue with season 4 was that they didn't end up together however. There was one amasing video explaining why "Elementary" is the superior current interpretation of Holmes and I remember two points: 1. They spent ridiculous amount of money on the wedding and 2. The fucked up Mary, making her a fucking cheerleader of her own husband/his bff breathless and giddy queery-baity shit. There must be some respect shown to the fans and Martin is becoming less and less tolerable the more time passes and the more interviews he gives. What a dick. He looks nice but to quote Bonnie from HTGAWM, it's just his face.
  11. Did he watch the same show WE did? High caliber? In what? The mysteries were rubbish since... season 1, really. Patting yourself on the back, after that lackluster finale and COMPLAINING the fans were pissed... is acting like a prick, at worst and being completely distracted, at best. I am extremely disappointed with everyone involved, maybe the least with Cumberbatch, who has had the presence and state of mind to point out multiple times different issues in a more open way. Good god, some of these people are obnoxious...
  12. It was mentioned in season 1 that she goes to the range, she also practices martial arts, etc. I don't remember the episode, but the way it was shown in season 2, it is implied that she kept the habits.
  13. I am a bit miffed about your description. We have seen so many movies and tv shows in which the moving force behind the motivations is the desire of being more, of being special, of helping (sure, misguided as well) by male characters and I have yet to see any of them being called entitled brats (or maybe I missed all of those examples, which is a possibility too). Trish... I wouldn't call a brat by a longshot. Quite literally pimped by her mother, being sexually assaulted when she was 15 (unclear if that has happened before and after that), substance abuse issues, she is surprisingly functional. I completely understand why living in the "perfect" version of the life laid in front of you can slowly drive you nuts and sure, she broke her seemingly perfect life but it was a matter of time, because she didn't want it. It is wise? Maybe not. Is it something that many people experience? Yes. If I have to be honest, I don't understand how when wanting to be a superhero out of your own volition it is seen as problematic, because the person is not perfect. Is it better that Jessica was forced against her will, then being raped, enslaved, her mind fucked, her becoming an alcoholic and having behavioral issues? Trish has the option to choose and she wants to be a hero and have powers (relatively more than most heroes in Marvel's universe). Is it for the perfect reasons? I don't think so, but nobody is perfect and no hero is a perfect human being and I love how characters like Jessica show that and at the same time, I don't get it why people are being judged when they are less than perfect if they want to be super. I truly believe Trish is quite misguided, needs therapy and does not have a full grasp of the issues of having super powers and responsibilities but considering how much "do something" matters to her and how much she lives in reality in which physical strength matters, I completely understand why she wants powers. I don't agree with her on that front but I understand it. Something that... I needed more nuance is about motherhood. It was repeated ad naseum how once a mother, always a mother and... I don't agree with that. I don't agree that you are in the right and should be in your child's life because you are a parent. US has a great fascination with (biological) family and the idea that if you just try hard enough, the family can be functional. Families like that of Trish are a great example how a person can be toxic and it is for the best for the child to stay as far as possible from the influence of the relative, biological or not, yet in the whole season... there was no such nuance, always reverting to "always her mother". It is quite unhealthy and it makes it very hard for people to break up with abusive relatives because that idea is so popular and so often accepted as gospel.
  14. I am almost 100% she was referring to Kilgrave with the comment about rape, since she never used such a descriptor for anyone and anything else. Also, it would be weird if she didn't mention it, after she mentioned being controlled.
  15. Carrie-Anne Moss is an amasing acctress. :)
  16. I am going to bet that when MirrLo jumped, PrimeLo was dead on the Buran and he simply assumed his identity.
  17. Hm, as usual, Moffat wrote something that has multiple plot-holes and looks cool and flashy with lots of confused and wrong bits thrown around with pointless and unneeded sexism. -sigh- Good riddance! As a person who saw OldWho, I cringed. A lot. The actor who played 1 was super but the writing of the character was abysmal. I have never felt the feeling that I would like to smack 1 behind the ears but knocking the glasses to the floor was so bad manners, it irked me to no end. I am pretending I didn't hear any of the comments about cleaning the TARDIS, because it clashes with his personality too badly, I prefer to imagine that never happened. Capaldi had a very nice send-off, I liked it and his comments about being nice and being kind. :) I was reminded of "Just this one, everybody lives!" by 9 with the "there is no evil plan"? :) Poor Jenna Coleman... she deserved better writing than the one she got from Moffat. He wrote Amy badly and... he did the same with Clara. Too bad. (I am not even going to mention Irene Adler or Molly... or Mary, it only shows he CAN'T write female characters for shit)... I think only Bill was handled OK? I am a bit surprised by that. :) Also, they recycled the ending of Clara and used it for Bill too. I mean... come the fuck on... it was not a bad resolution but... too similar, to soon. The TARDIS throwing 13 out made me think something was not OK with the TARDIS, because I saw something like flames in the middle? Also, so many incarnations have started with a crash, I was not surprised in the least. :) I never got the impression of "har hard bad driver, 'cause she is a woman"??? Like, who came up with it? I can't wait for the new season. :)
  18. Betty's dad actually wanted her mom to have an abortion and she declined. That was his solution for Polly too and that made her super mad at him.
  19. I get your argument. Hmm, mostly because I don't assume by default that they think they are writing a bitch, so I didn't see a classic bitch. Also... idk, there were obviously several moments in which Tina was humanised? I think we shall see and I really hope they don't go with the cliche "bitch" narrative. Though I like my unrepented awesome kickass bitch character any day of the week. :) It was weird to see that actress playing the abused wife, I have only seen her in one other show, where she played an abusive mother-junkie herself and it is weird. I think the hallucination was due to the lack of sleep and his guilty conscience and I am not really sure it will be a regular thing. Of the whole group, i do agree, he reads as the biggest evil.
  20. I definitely did not get such a read... at all. I got the impression of priorities mostly. Also, unhinged? No, I think he is just a classical abuser and that is that. I am mostly interested in Tina, because she feels like the person who is most closed off. Stacey and... um... ? were the cutest. I REALLY liked that every character was different, had a different set of issues, reactions and context. Everyone of the women had her reasons for her actions so I would not call it unimaginative, because their reasons were if not fleshed, mentioned and different.
  21. Magic is skills or a talent. Science is not in the same way and this is how it is transferred. I find it realistic that using super strength has consequences on the body and cramps is simply the easiest explanation. In regards to the kids being different... of course they are different. If they were the same as in the comics, there would be no point in making and reinventing it into a new medium. The parents are changed too and I think for the better. I don't think the show drags and I like that they are trying to make a realistic and believable backup of the world, so we would understand why the kids ran away. Different mediums and can you imagine how much more irritating it would have been if they used flashbacks constantly to give us the backstory, if they started right away with the runaway? I like Gurt and I am having fun that she is stuck on Chase a bit. It is obviously something she is going to get over and I find it normal for a kid her age and context, family history, etc. Hella foreshadowing as well? Overall, the show is quite nice. The kids are wellhandled, they are both smart and naive (as most teens are, when they lack the experience of age) and they are somewhat believable. What I didn't find believable was the "bros" reaction. On the other side, I have never known such people in life, so the whole thing is quite weird for me.
  22. OK, people have gone on and on about the asexuality of Jughead but... come on, one comics series, one separate universe of quite a lot other. Considering how many versions and worlds and universes of Archie comics exist, this attitude as if Jughead asexuality is cannon in ALL the realities somewhat irritates. The tv show is a separate universe. Why should it go by any of the existing other universes? Why not go into a new direction? Gay? Bi? Demi? Pan? So many more options. OK, he can easily be asexual in the TV universe too but let that be natural and to happen gradually and for god sake, let us see him handling it and accepting it in a pace different than "done in 1 episode" or something.
