  1. Abby was always pragmatic. I imagine that after Paul died and she saw the Deuce she knew continue to disappear, she saw the writing on the wall and did what she had to do to stay in NYC. A lesser show would have had her and Vince run into each other and share a glance. I'm glad they missed each other. As much as I wish we'd gotten another season or two, I agree that the show ended at just the right time. I also think the show did an excellent job of determining which characters would realistically make out of the '80s and which would still be alive in the present day. That being said, I am surprised that Eileen's son outlived her, because he seemed like he was going nowhere really fast. I'm really going to miss this show.
  2. I'm a sucker too, because I thought the ending was sweet. It did kind of bother me that Vincent remembered Eileen as Candy, Dorothy as Ashley, and Lori as CC's hoe (and an unhappy one at that). Poor Lori can't even find happiness in Vincent's version of the afterlife. I would have liked to see him at least remember Eileen as she was in the '80s, but whatever.Small nitpick. Vincent looked so ill and tired, I was sure they were going to have him die in the middle of Times Square, and join all his old friends. I'm also glad they didn't go there. Too bad we never found out what happened to Larry Brown. David Simon said the actor was unavailable, which is fine, but it would have been nice to see at least a theater pamphlet hanging around Paul's place with his name and photo on it, or something. Even having Eileen find her actors through one of Larry's acting circles would have been a nice mention. He was one of the ones I was really looking forward to catching up with this season.
  3. I'm the opposite. I loathe falling back. Having it get darker earlier plus the additional holiday traffic this time of year causes traffic nightmares.
  4. Nope. Really disappointed we haven't got so much of a mention of him yet. Maybe he will pop up in the finale.
  5. That was Mike, Vince's right hand man. He is dying of AIDs-related pneumonia. I am presuming he went there to die in peace.
  6. Confused Mermaid
  7. You are both classier than I am. I would have said: "So do you but at least the cat is being treated for an illness. What's your excuse?" I get really upset when assholes comment on an animal's physical "imperfections". Most humans have no room to speak about another creatures physicality in the first place.
  8. Which confirms she was in it for what she could get out of it. Sadly, it seems like she does but you can change all that by going No Contact with her for awhile. From what you say, she's not really into it, so I don't think you are going to get any resolution or satisfactory answers. She will likely come up with excuses or outright lies to justify her shitty behavior. I would save that conversation for when she's gained some maturity.
  9. Her birthday is over. You offered and she was too busy, so it is her loss. Tell her you would be more than happy to have her over next weekend to spend time together, but there will be no party as it is no longer her birthday. Short and sweet.
  10. I would see if the caretaker would let you take care of the dog (at your house) over the weekend to see if you two are a fit for each other. If it doesn't work out, you can let the caretaker know at some point over the weekend so they can bring it to the shelter. Keep in mind the dog is confused and nervous so its true personality might not shine through. But at least it will give you some idea of whether you think you can handle it.
  11. I am watching this for Taraji/Cookie only. She was everything I needed to get through the rest of this shitty week. Cookie's reads are everything. The rest was ridiculous. I guess they really are going to seal Empire's fate as the Black Dallas with the whole "Who Shot (and killed) Lucious?" crap. So glad its the last season--this show is tired.
  12. It seems like she is just using you for money or what she can get. Definitely suggest a time that works best for you. I would count the dinner as a birthday gift. I would let her know that she couldn't come to me for money unless it was for a medical emergency. She's spending like she is because people are enabling her.
  13. Ralph Angel's angry "Nobody asked you!" to Nova in the police station when they were all waiting around for Charley to get bailed out....I felt that. I hate Nova's redemption arc. I hope we get a Season 5. I want to see how Vi feels about Calvin being invited to future family functions, seeing how she didn't want that white friend of Hollywood's hanging around the house a few seasons back. So Sam was playing Violet to see what she knew. I think Charley met her match in Parker. Looking forward to next season already!
  14. I'm not feeling the Brian storyline at all because it hits too close to home to the situation with his real-life son with Vanessa Marcil. On their list of enemies was "the whole cast of Saved By the Bell". Hee. I guess that's their way of referencing the Tiffani stuff without mentioning her by name. "How Do You Talk to Angel?" is a forever cheesy nostalgic jam. Instantly transports me back to 1994 whenever I hear it. This show is just the kind of mindless stupidity I need after a long day. I hope they do come back for another season.
  15. I guess Nova is getting a Hollywood happy ending, because ain't no way in real life. Loved RA telling Vi that just because she's good with her all of a sudden, it doesn't mean he has to be. There isn't anything Nova could do to make things right with him, AFAIC. Not liking that he is even hearing her out next week. Charley's way overreacting with Micah. What does she want him to do? Go there, be miserable, and end up a dropout? I get her point and her frustration, but he's an adult and it's his decision. Charley sees all the bullshit coming down the pike, has been warned repeatedly that she's dealing with people bigger than her, and she's just now realizing she might have bit off more than she can chew? Wow.
  16. Brain cancer. Not to be snarky, but that can be said for all of us.
  17. Me too. Even though she saw the writing on the wall between herself and RA, I liked that she was genuinely concerned for her health.
  18. Ugh at the RA/Darla stuff. Deesha dodged a bullet. RA's been ok this season but he generally acts like a petulant child. Deesha deserves better and so does Darla, even if she can't see it. It was so refreshing to see the children refer to adults as Mr. And Ms. That kind of etiquette is lost in most circles these days. I hate that "Where do you see yourself in 5/10/15 yrs?" crap, especially when its asked of and by teenagers. They have no clue what life is going to throw at them. Micah's friend group is annoying. Loved Vi's absolute shade in ignoring Nova. Hate that Vi is dealing with her next week. Ugh.
  19. I feel that way about almost every famous musician who died young. So much unrealized potential in so many of them. I listen to Tupac often and it amazes me even now that he died at only 25. Thinking about song's like "Brenda's Got a Baby", which he wrote at only 20. I can't imagine the stuff he would come up with had he not fell into the gangster stuff and lived long enough to see all the crap that happened in the '00s and today.
  20. Blanca's performance at the ball was everything. I can't stop watching it. I kind of love, that in this day and age, the show had a trans POC perform the national anthem at the ball. It was really one of the show's best moments of the series. I loved seeing Mr. Kinky Boots Porter pretend that he's never worn heels. That was fantastic. I love that the show is talking about how black gay men come to terms with their masculinity and sexuality. I watch too much TV so I really thought Blanca was a goner, and they were going to reboot the series next season. I am so glad she made it and has new kids to tend to.
  21. This is where I'm at. Vi's a good one for letting her wait for Charley in her restaurant after their talk. It would have been a Jazzy Jeff/Uncle Phil situation had it been my restaurant. I, for one, don't want Darla and RA back together so that was all meh. Darla finally had her relapse---now hopefully she can truly move on from all this. I just don't see how Darla being around RA, thus in close proximity to Nova, would be good for her. She is one that truly has no reason to ever forgive Nova and may have suffered the most because of her. Darla deserves a fresh start at happiness.
  22. I don't get compared to any one now but people in high school used to say I looked liked Alyson Hannigan during the early seasons of "Buffy": This is the gif where she looks the most like high school me. I also used to get called "Daria" a lot because I always wore my dark brown hair down and I have a monotone voice and a sarcastic attitude:
  23. I feel sorry for my cat Ella, because Diamond is a totally selfish asshole. Ella will lovingly wash Diamond's impossible to reach areas (back of head and ears, underneath her chin) and when she softly headbutts Diamond to return the favor, Diamond either slaps the crap out of her or play bites her and WW3 ensues. Ella usually fights back but then walks away after a minute or two like "You aren't worth my energy". Diamond is lucky to have such a loving and patient housemate.
  24. She feels the vibes of resentment you have towards that awful place and she is reminding you of why you are going there in the 1st place....to keep her in the lifestyle of which she's grown accustomed!
  25. My issue is that he obviously knows that she was involved with Ralph Angel and they have a son together. If he felt like she was going to relapse, buddy couldn't find a way to contact RA to let him know what was going on? Just gonna walk away like that and let her figure it out? That doesn't sit well with me. I understand him needing to distance himself for his sobriety's sake but she has a pretty locally famous ex that he could have found a way to give the heads up to.
