  1. My husband is so excited to watch this guy, as he is a huge Cub fan. As a Sox fan, I'll have to choose someone else to root for, just to get his goat while we watch ;-)
  2. I just watched it, and can't believe I live SO close to where Gothard operated and still lives. I shop in Oakbrook all the time, and my doctor is in LaGrange. I feel really creeped out that all of this went on in towns really close to mine, and I had no clue. I found this while googling it all after viewing this short film: http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/July-2016/Institute-in-Basic-Life-Principles-Hinsdale/ From which this stood out to me: "The third of six children, Gothard was, by his teenage years, deeply religious. According to his bio on the IBLP website, he “began working with inner-city gangs in Chicago” Ok..I have to say that's GUTSY if he actually went into those neighborhoods.
  3. Because of cases like these, I have become addicted to reading the forums at http://www.websleuths.com/forums/
  4. Omgosh that's SO true..plus if they were religious (especially when reading a Christian type book) they'd throw in "Must have a personal relationship with the Lord." Besides trashy reality shows, my other guilty pleasure is mail order bride books. That's exactly how Austin would have advertised for a bride in the olden days. PS I'm not a complete dolt, my reading list is very eclectic. Sometimes I just need to read a book that's sure to have a happy ending.
  5. I really liked the update at the very end, saying Paula had a nice meeting with her birth mom in New Mexico. There was a picture of them together, and I thought they looked a lot alike. PS @SuzyLee, I think they just opened up an onion processing plant in my neighborhood also!
  6. I can't believe I blew it way up, and still didn't know what it was until you described it, @BitterApple!
  7. nm, was way too whiny..I just need to go to bed.
  8. I was TOTALLY hooked on WW, until she posted a picture of "her baby" which looked like the Gerber baby. Was way too perfect, and looked like a baby model..LOL
  9. Yes..my thread title won! Thanks everyone that voted for it :) PS I'm almost 65 and this is the first thing I've ever won..pitiful. :)
  10. I'm sorry, but I also hate his beard. It's too scraggly for me. I wish Jill would've "slipped" with the clippers downward.
  11. If nothing else good comes out of your experience growing up in the Seventh Day Adventist church, you taught me (by Googling) what that church believes. I had a friend who was raised in that, and never knew that's what she believed/was subjected to. That's what's so sad about the kind of upbringing the Duggars do, because it's all so hidden, and their kids have no other point of view. TBH I just thought my friend was just a little weird, like me. I was extremely, PAINFULLY? shy. She initiated the friendship, and we never talked about religion. I just remember she could NEVER do anything on Saturdays..ever. (I was raised Lutheran, then converted to Catholic when I met my husband, and now..I'm nothing)
  12. Ok, now I feel bad for snarking on the (adult) kids. I'm not going to stop, or anything, (cuz I'm mean like that, and already know I'm going to hell..LOL) but I still feel bad, knowing what some of you have gone through. But it is like the biggest train wreck you just can't stop gawking at. I tell myself they whored themselves out for TV money, so it's ok to snark on them. But the kids didn't (and still don't) have a choice. Hope everyone that had a family dynamic like this has gotten help in some way.
  13. I think that suit looks awful. He needs to wear a darker (more slimming) color.
  14. I said mustard too..but then again, you can be shot in Chicago (where I'm from) if you ask for ketchup on a hotdog (kidding, kind of.) But it really is a *thing* here.
  15. I was thinking he has schizophrenia. Just a guess in my uneducated opinion.
  16. I might just projecting my own personal feelings into this, but maybe the wheel chair guy was pushing religion on her, and she's uncomfortable with it. I mean, he's wearing a huge cross. Who's to say she was even brought up that way?
  17. Wow, Amy had a lot of likes and comments on this picture. I got caught up in reading all the comments, and was laughing at the ones in Spanish. They must be VERY behind on viewing this show in their countries. A lot of people were shocked, and saying (in Spanish) " What about Matt?" And "where's her husband?!"
  18. I just finished watching this, and realized I'm now officially a heathen, because every time they started praying, I had to mute the volume. Did they always show this much religion, and I just tuned it out before? I did like how normal it was that she took mints from the sound man, because she didn't want to have 'coffee breath.'
  19. Shallow comment, but have Darrell Hammond's eyebrows always been so sparse? (almost matched Whoopie's)
  20. He's probably doing stand-up when they're off for a week. I actually just asked one of my (grown) kids if I could access their Netflix so I could watch Trevor's new stand-up show..(I think it was called 'afraid of the dark') It was SO good. I love his various accents he does.
  21. Dear Jeremy (and Bin), I used to have terrible allergies, and had a snotty , STUFFY voice just like you. Ask your doctor for a RX for Singulair. That, along with alternating Claritin and Zyrtec helped my allergies basically disappear. When my allergies wise up to the fact I'm taking Zyrtec, I switch to Claritin, and vice versa.(I'm only a doctor in my own head) What am I saying!! Duggars don't go to a real doctor...not even for childbirth.
