I don't know. I picked up Spanish from my husband's family almost by osmosis..I kind of just soaked it in by being around them a lot. I do think some people are just lucky and can pick up another language easier. I was only 16 when we met though. Plus I just basically "jumped in" and spoke it even though I knew it wasn't grammatically correct. Maybe Pedro is shy and afraid to say something wrong? I've noticed the older I get, it's harder to pick up new words. It also makes a difference if Pedro works and shops etc. where other people speak Spanish, and he doesn't really have to try (although he should.) My husband picked up English way faster than his brothers, because he lived with an English speaking wife, and he had to speak English at work.This plus all the English speaking TV shows I subjected him to: I'm not on P.TV for nothing ;-) His brothers married Spanish speaking wives, and lived in the city where they could do everything in Spanish all the time. I dragged my husband to the English speaking suburbs..for him it was sink or swim ;-) So, by Chantal picking up Spanish and switching to it with him when he doesn't understand something, I think it slows him learning English. (sorry so long, got carried away) Btw, YES I think everyone who comes here needs to learn English. I'm just saying why it's not as easy for some. :) PS my husband can now beat me in Scrabble, and that's no mean feat :-D

OMGosh, I saw this posted in the comment section of the post Derrick made soliciting more money. I have admit, it made me laugh. But actually, it's kind of sad that these charlatans don't care how well off the people are who are donating, as long as they DONATE. I would like to know just why people donate to "ministers" like this? Why isn't this against the law?! I know,I know. Free will and all that..but it just pisses me off. They're taking advange of people who can least afford it. :( /end rant
