I know there are other people on these forums who are either married to a Puerto Rican (like me) or are Puerto Rican themselves. I just wanted to share some information that is really helping my husband and me manage the stress of not being able to reach his family (at all.) My suggestion is to download the Zello walkie talkie app. Then sign up and search for this channel: Huracan Maria (that's hurricane Maria in Spanish) & then add the village you're looking for information about. So, in our case, we typed in: Huracan Maria Lares (Type the village you're interested in, in place of "Lares") Be patient, sometimes it's silent, and then all of sudden someone will talk. Hope this helps someone else!

I've been married to a Puerto Rican for 48 years. I can't believe how unbelievably slow the government is in getting supplies TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE who need them..NOW. I would kick the Duggars in the nuts (or vajayjays) if any of them went there now to hand out religious tracts. We have been really stressed, because we can't get a hold of ANYONE. They live in the boonies in the mountains near the city of Lares. I just saw a news story that just made me sob, because the people near there are not getting food and water!! Not to mention the cemetery my in-laws are buried in was completely destroyed :(

@Ginger90, I am always grateful that you share tweets with us. Some of us (me) have trouble understanding and navigating how Twitter works. Yeah, I'm old ;-)

Hmmm...nice of Ford to be an advertiser on that video. I'll have to remember not to buy any more Fords >:-{ -
Inside edition was cancelled!? I wondered why my DVR wasn't recording out anymore.. I thought maybe it was on a break.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
ChiCricket replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I see Joy is wearing glasses more often now. I had to switch from contacts to glasses when I was pregnant. My body chemistry changed somehow, and dried out my eyes so much that wearing my contacts was unbearable. Maybe the same thing happened to Joy. Or..now she's married and her husband doesn't mind them. I used to hear "boys won't make passes at girls who wear glasses" from my own mother. Maybe there's an anti-glasses bias in their family..ie..girls aren't as pretty wearing them. Do any of you remember any of the girls wearing glasses all the time?? -

I think it's funny how some men grow a beard when they are balding. That makes them feel like they still have a full head of hair, maybe? -

Mason? Is he supposed to be the one to 'cement' their marriage back together? -
I think when they're dying to get a break from their newborn, and want a babysitter, they'll trust grandma fast enough..ask me how I know ;-)

I just love how the dark tattoo highlights his little pink nipples.

You forgot bicycle helmets. I got lambasted by my own daughters on Facebook when I let their kids ride on my dead-end street without them. Yes, I know they should all have them, but some were visiting me from New Mexico and North Carolina, and begged to bike together with their Illinois cousins. I didn't have enough helmets for all of them, so I let them. My mistake was posting a picture. Busted! (I now have extra)

I worried about 2 of my grandchildren, who, when they were about the same age as S, were barely talking. (I just can't type out that awful name.) Both times, their parents got speech therapy for them. After about a year, they caught up with their peers. {caution, grammie brag ahead} Now they are in 2nd and 5th grades, and both of them are in gifted programs. Basically I said that to say this: I made sure to voice my concerns to my grown kids diplomatically, and they got them the help to 'jump start' their language skills. I am hoping Jessa does the same thing and gets him some help, if needed. (Not holding my breath on that.)

Aaaand...he sure knows it.

I think, generally speaking, that boys names (used to) tend to stay more in fashion. Popularity of girl's names seemed to change a lot more often. I do think boys are now getting more trendy names, which will probably go out of fashion at some point, if they haven't started to already. Last thought, it's kind of easy to pick up on who's parents used to be hippies, by their kid's names. I know what those parents were probably smoking. ;-)

It's funny how parents usually try to make the baby to be's name sound good together. Then it is a crap shoot for what last name you're going to end up with when you get married (for most women.) My daughter had some success as a newscaster, and when she got married everyone already knew her by her maiden name. She said she was keeping her name because of that. Privately, she told me that if she changed her name to his, it would sound awful for broadcasting. So now she has a different name than her three kids. (I find names fascinating, I could go on all day)

Reminds me of the movie "Heathers"

If you like that site, try plugging your name into this one. My first name was hugely popular in the 50's...every class I ever had, there were at least 2 other girls with my name (sometimes there was four of us..I hated that.) Now I know it's an old lady name. I can't remember meeting a baby with my name, in many, many years. Yep, I'm a geezer. :'( When I was a rx tech, I could tell someone was old by their name alone...ie Florence, Bertha, Gertrude..always was a little old lady who would come to collect their meds. :-) http://www.babynamewizard.com/name-voyager#prefix=&sw=both&exact=false
