Season 19: “May we live to fight another day.”
Spartan Girl replied to wanderingstar's topic in Law & Order
Considering the fact that he was verbally abusing his daughter for not being sorority material (and that he had to settle for her mother instead of his dream girl), I really can’t blame her. No pity in my heart for child killers, especially ones that did it because they got rejected my some girl 30 years ago. -
FilmNight: Movies you watched recently

Flow: Despite the fact I wasn’t feeling the animation style, it had me hooked in five minutes. How can you resist a movie about a bunch of animals trying to find sanctuary after the apocalypse? No wonder it won Best Animated Feature. -
George’s character arc is one of the best parts of the first movie. He starts out as this pathetic guy that’s too scared and insecure to stand up for himself. He winds up forming a friendship with Marty (who he doesn’t know is his future son), and is encouraged to start putting himself out there. Him trying to woo Lorraine is so endearingly adorkable — “I’m your density!” And his defining moment isn’t just the moment where he snaps and decks Biff, it’s the moment when he catches Biff trying to assault Lorraine, and instead of letting Biff scare him off, he holds his ground and tells Biff to leave her alone. It’s one thing to play act the hero, it’s quite another to actually put yourself in harms way and stand up for another person. Then there’s the bit at the dance when that jerkass tries to cut in with Lorraine. He briefly regresses into his old self, but Lorraine calls after him, Marty’s words of encouragement have stayed with him. And with that, he regains his new spine, pushes jerkass aside, and we get the movie kiss to end them all as the score and “Earth Angel” crescendos just beautifully… God, I love that movie.

Milestone Moments: All The Celebrity Vitals

Well, I feel bad for thinking it might have been a murder suicide. Forgive me, I should know better than to jump to conclusions. Just a big sad tragedy. Fate really is a cruel and fickle bitch.- 4.2k replies

This. I am so over coddling the voters. The ones that voted for Trump don’t care that he’s awful. The third party/independent/protest voters and the ones that stars home knew the stakes and still decided to play stupid games. If I have to hear bullshit like “both sides suck” or “they didn’t earn my vote” one more time, I’ll scream. Start taking some goddamn responsibility instead of sticking to your goldfish memories every four years.

Since Back to the Future is hitting a milestone of 40 years, I think it’s time that this classic and its sequels gets its own thread. Theres so much I’d like to say. How Marty McFly/Michael J. Fox was my first (live action) movie crush. How George punching Biff in the face still gives me rush, even when we’re living in a world where bullies getting their comeuppance has become an impossible dream… For now, I’ll limit it to saying I live all three movies, and I felt like it stuck the landing perfectly. I know some people thought Part II sucked, but I thought it was great that they took a deeper look at more consequences of time travel rather than just the looming threat of Marty never being born.

He said that a Snow White remake wasn’t necessary. He said he didn’t think little people should be limited to playing dwarves/mythical creatures. He also said that the Snow White dwarves were one-dimensional characters, and if Disney really wanted to make it different instead of a shot-by-shot remake, they give the dwarves more character depth. Do not blame Peter for the crappy CGI. That’s on them.

I do think Rachel is pretty. And maybe the “fairest of them all” was supposed to be about inner beauty more than anything…but yeah. And the dwarves look terrible. If Disney wanted to do something revolutionary with them, they could have listened to Peter Dinklage. Just saying…

And there are nothing but crickets from all the nonvoters, third parties, and uncommitted people that screamed about “Genocide Joe” and “Holocaust Harris.”

I knew exactly who Space Ranger is from the moment I heard his voice and the Lucky Duck pointing out what was on his belt only confirmed it for me. But I guess we’ll have to wait another week to confirm it. -

And there is always next year with Wicked: For Good. The Godfather Part II and Return of the King won Ocars, I'm just saying... -
LOL of course Klaus ready to celebrate with a “Ding Dong, Rogu’s Dead” banner. And promptly gets bitch-slapped at the end.

I enjoyed Shucked and MJ. Can’t wait for Beautiful Noise.

Leaving by Roxana Robinson had plenty of angering moments, but the one that really got under my skin was when Warren tells Janet he wants a divorce, and an understandably blindsided Janet asks if there’s someone else. Warren—who has cheated on Janet multiple times throughout the marriage and is currently in an affair with Sarah, whom he wants to marry as soon as possible—pompously tells her that he won’t talk about anything that doesn’t involve the two of them. Janet sees through this excuse and angrily calls Warren a sanctimonious shit. And Warren had the audacity to get upset that Janet “used the wrong word” and sanctimoniously lectures her that wanting a divorce makes him “candid” not “sanctimonious.” Then angrily thinks to himself that Janet “has no respect for words.” Nothing like getting mansplained by a cheating husband that has more respect for words than other people, eh, ladies? 🙄

And Shannen too. They did movies, they should have been up there! And they left out Olivia Hussey and Martin Mull too!! WTAF?! -
I was in no mood for this one. @Galileo908 I only watched the last five minutes.

But even Regan wouldn’t sell out to Russia.

Everyone who loved Kell Woods’ After the Woods will love her new book Upon A Starlit Tide. Couldn’t put it down and I loved every bit of it.

So I only now just found out that poor little Dina in “God Bless the Child” was played by Michelle Trachtenberg, who just died this week. It was one of her first roles, and all she did was just die. 😭😭😭😭

Speculation is rising that maybe he just died and she killed herself. I don’t know if that’s the case, but this just keeps getting more awful.- 4.2k replies

Good for Zelenskyy for not cowing. That’s the only positive thing I can say. Everything else is a certain four-lettered word I can’t utter in this forum.

Gene Hackman passing away reminded me of one of his most notable scenes in Mississippi Burning, which is pretty relevant right now:
