Bastet December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 I hope I'm not the only one who sings along with them in that episode. I think it's a catchy tune that should have won. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 5, 2014 Share December 5, 2014 ^ Totally agree! I can't imagine that the winning song was better. Link to comment
babyhouseman December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 N is for the nudist colony the girls ended up at on vacation. Link to comment
Blakeston December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 O is for the orgasm Blanche was on the verge of when she talked about buying shoes. "Come on, old woman, we need shoes now!" Link to comment
FormerMod-a1 December 7, 2014 Author Share December 7, 2014 P is for Blanche Popping Sophia's balloon after returning. 1 Link to comment
camom December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 Q is for the Question-Answers that Dorothy gave when auditioning for Jeopardy. "We don't think anyone would root for you." 1 Link to comment
Cobalt Stargazer December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 R is for Regale, which Rose would do every time she told a St. Olaf story. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 S is for Sonny Bono, the hilariously random perpetual Golden Girls whipping boy. (Both the real Sonny Bono and Sophia's portrayal of Sonny Bono.) Link to comment
Blakeston December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 (edited) T is for Ted (ie, Stan's brother), who set off this exchange: Ted: "I wouldn't want to put you out." Blanche: "But I like to put out!" Edited December 8, 2014 by Blakeston 1 Link to comment
camom December 9, 2014 Share December 9, 2014 U is for Uncle Lucas, who sweeps Dorothy off her feet while trying to get revenge on Blanche. Link to comment

Maherjunkie December 10, 2014 Share December 10, 2014 X is for all the sex stories. So good we named it! Link to comment
babyhouseman December 11, 2014 Share December 11, 2014 Y is for Yankee. Blanche turned out to be related to one. Link to comment
Bastet December 11, 2014 Share December 11, 2014 And went to her senior prom with one! Link to comment
Blakeston December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 Z is for the Zorro mask nearly being knocked out of poor Ed Rosen's hand! Now that we've done our favorite moments, maybe we could do our least favorite moments? A is for Anita Bryant, and Dorothy being disappointed that she didn't get to meet her. What the hell, Dorothy? I've decided to assume that she wanted to meet her just so that she could throw orange juice in her face. 1 Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 B is for the Bridget-and-Michael-Sleep-Together plotline. It just brought out the worst in everybody. Plus, it featured one of Rose's daughters and they always suck. :) 1 Link to comment
Maherjunkie December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 I think Dorothy just wanted to win the contest. Link to comment
camom December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 C is for cryogenics, when the girls had their heads frozen at Rose's request. The rest of the episode is fine, but the scene of them at the kitchen table as just heads makes me fast forward. Link to comment
sgittinger December 12, 2014 Share December 12, 2014 D is for David, Blanche's hideous grandson. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 13, 2014 Share December 13, 2014 E is obviously for the Empty Nest episode. Link to comment
Blakeston December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 F is for the Fire at Shady Pines - specifically, the idea that Sophia would be prosecuted solely because a dying old woman claimed, years later, that Sophia accidentally started the fire with a hot plate. I think Dorothy just wanted to win the contest. Dorothy spoke bitterly about how she was treated badly, while the winners got to meet Anita Bryant. It would be a very odd way to describe the situation if she didn't want to meet Anita Bryant herself. Link to comment
Maherjunkie December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I took the emphasis was on "treated badly" but Dorothy could have an orange juice fetish for all I know. (Bryant used to hawk it). G is for Garish wedding dress in the final episode. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 (edited) H is for another one of Rose's horrible relatives - Holly - and how all the girls instantly took her side over Rose's. She truly was mopey, dopey, and full of crap. Edited December 16, 2014 by LilWharveyGal 1 Link to comment
camom December 23, 2014 Share December 23, 2014 I is for Rose's Cousin Ingmar who did bird imitations. Let's just say you wouldn't want to park your car under their tree. Link to comment
FormerMod-a1 December 23, 2014 Author Share December 23, 2014 J is for the Jacket with the lottery ticket, well and the whole episode. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 23, 2014 Share December 23, 2014 K is for Ken, Dorothy's boyfriend played by Dick Van Dyke. He was hardly the worst guy to appear on the show, but I never liked him as much as I felt I should. Link to comment

keepwalking December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 N is for Nils Neablung (however you spell the last name), the father in the St. Olaf story that Dorothy told. Link to comment
Bastet December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 (edited) N is for Nils Neablung (however you spell the last name), the father in the St. Olaf story that Dorothy told. Aw, I don't count that as a least-favorite moment. Least-favorite episode, certainly, but I think Dorothy pulling a Rose is a real bright spot within that. "Does this story have a point?" "You asked that at just the right time." But, then I love the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome episodes, so I'm used to being out of step. Edited December 30, 2014 by Bastet 1 Link to comment
keepwalking December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 Oh! I must not have read the rules properly. I do like that Dorothy told a St. Olaf story! That is one of the first N words that popped into my head. Link to comment
Bastet December 30, 2014 Share December 30, 2014 O is for all the jokes made about Blanche's daughter Rebecca being overweight. It made sense coming from Sophia, but Rose and Dorothy's reactions were out of character and quite disappointing. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal December 31, 2014 Share December 31, 2014 P is for the story about Pesto Sauce/ear salve that Sophia tells while eating. The story itself isn't so bad but her chewing drives me nuts. Link to comment
camom January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Q is for the quiz show Jeopardy, which Dorothy applied for. I hate it when she acts superior to everyone else. R is for Rebecca, Blanche's daughter. For one thing, I hate how she is treated in the overweight episode. But when the other, thin actress shows up later in the series with the plan to have artificial insemination, it drove me nuts. Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 S is for the Sick episode, because they are mean to each other especially Dorothy. Camom, did you think Rebecca was short-sighted? Link to comment
camom January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 No Maherjunkie, it bugged me that they used such obviously different actresses for the same character. The number of children Blanche had seemed to keep changing (I think they totaled 6) -- why not just add another one? T is for the tree that Freida Claxton wanted to cut down. I think the reason I didn't like the episode was that everyone blamed Rose for her death. I did get a giggle out of Mr Pfeiffer, though. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Along those lines, U is for Re-Using character names. Obviously it happens all the time in real life, but I like my shows to have a bit more creativity. Becky was both Blanche's daughter and Lily's dog. Angela was both Sophia's sister and Phil's wife. Katherine was both Stan's wife and Gloria's daughter. Gloria and Phil were both Dorothy's siblings and the names of the characters at the Maltese Falcon Club. Etc etc.... 1 Link to comment
Bastet January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I did get a giggle out of Mr Pfeiffer, though. "Hey, Puh-feiffer, how would you like a punch in the puh-face?" V is for the Very Special Episode about homelessness. It's an issue much of the media - and the country - was happily ignoring, so I certainly appreciate the sentiment, but it is so clumsily executed at every turn that I just hate it. 2 Link to comment
Plaid January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 W is for Work, which they only mention if a huge plot line calls for it. It seems like they only work a few days a year. Dorothy being a sub, I can understand that but day after day they just sit around chatting, having fun. Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 7, 2015 Share January 7, 2015 X is for when sex is over the top. Did anybody really believe Blanche slept with Tony Bennett? Link to comment
camom January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 Y is for the Younger Man that Blanche dates, the aerobics instructor. I just thought it was so ridiculous that Blanche thought they were a compatible couple, age-wise. Of course, it was nice when she found out that she was a mother figure to him. Link to comment
Maherjunkie January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 Z is for the Zen like philosophy Sophia appears to embrace from Stan in the money-making episode. Religions/cultural customs next? Link to comment
Blakeston January 9, 2015 Share January 9, 2015 A is for Alice the mangled cow - the customary punishment for children in Rose's family was to milk her. Link to comment
LilWharveyGal January 9, 2015 Share January 9, 2015 B is for Bar Mitzvah, a religious custom that Miles and Rose liked to crash. Link to comment
camom January 9, 2015 Share January 9, 2015 C is for Catholic, which Sophia obviously was. "I ate fish on Fridays, even when the Pope said I didn't have to." Link to comment
