If you have Apple whether iPhone or iPad or Apple TV, you know you can just go buy it on iTunes? That’s what I did.   I made a burner email and made a burner account on iTunes, stuck a USA address on it, bought some US iTunes gift card and bought the seasons.   But if you only have iPhone don’t do it if you don’t have either iPad or Apple TV as well as iPhone just because Apple has this weird rule that on iPhones you can only switch to a different account that is in a different

Culture Check: There are two definitions for gay. Which one has been used here? How do we stay conscious of how the other meanings of words we're using can do harm?

It has been discussed a few times over the years on this forum. And from what I can see, the only thing that has changed (and only fairly recently) is a reluctant acceptance of African American DCCs sporting their natural hair (but I have a gut feeling that wigs are still encouraged behind the scenes...)

Honestly, I cannot see other things change in the immediate future and definitely not with Kelli and Judy in charge. Those two are firmly stuck in the past, whether it's the never changing DCC uniform (apart from the shorter shorts), their stereotypical DCC type or the over-used Thunderstruck Routine.

If I remember correctly, natural black hair is A LOT harder to maintain for an all day football game than wearing a wig. So many DCC prefer the wig to natural hair maintenance. 

And then there are extensions. Darian, Briana, Jacie all wore extensions on the field. Jacie has taken a more pro-natural hair stance post DCC but in an interview she did she said she didn't know she had the option to wear natural hair.

Actually, back in the 70s, there were at least two Black DCCs that wore their hair naturally.   I’m glad to see that a return to this.

Not sure if she left on her own or Kelli cut her. I really never saw Kelli tell her she was cut so we can only assume it was one or the other.  She did not make the Rockettes.

Ashley was (is) well known in the Dallas area and had several friends already on DCC, so she came with local recommendations. I think her potential to be big on social media, which was just globally taking off as "influencers" emerged and what not, was also appealing to TPTB at the time.

She flunked her DC pre-test twice. Her kicks were low, but rumoredly the reason they cut her so soon was the test.

In a mild defense, she didn't have a lot of time to prepare. The Mavs were suddenly dismantled in May of that year. She may have been planning to do another year or two with them before trying for DCC again.

As for Katie, I think TPTB balked because they once again didn't want to deal with weight or "jiggle" in training camp. They had just dealt with that with VK for most of season 13. They would rather just cut at finals at be done with it.

Didn't she say that she'd tried out for DCC before? Flexibility is never a bad thing to be working on as a dancer as I'm sure the Mavs did some form of kicking motion over the four years she was there (not a kickline obviously, but some kicks in some capacity).

As someone who is an influencer (well, blogger) and works in marketing, I can definitely see her appeal though. She'd have been used on just about every poster and promo for sure!

I don't think Katy was even that big, 4 hours of dancing a night is pretty good cardio to lose a couple of pounds! She's built a bit like Rachel A, more of an athletic figure, which isn't usually TPTB's favourite body type. Charm was VERY passionate about her, that's why I was convinced.

So we’re on season 13 atm which I love for the rookies (Hannah, Bridget, Jalyn, Ashlee, Erin, Brennan, Cianna, Gabby … honestly I love this class). 
 

Interestingly, they’ve edited out VK’s weight conversations. You see her in the office with Jinelle, and you only see her say “I’d love to empty my brain into yours”, Kitty who says “Give her the respect” but they’ve completely cut the actual weight conversation. So if you were a first time viewer you’d have no idea what Kitty meant with her respect comment. 
 

Wondered if US TV/Pluto has done the same thing? Or if that’s just UK/MTV editing?

It’s not just VK I’ve noticed. 
 

So the uniform fitting segments, when Kelli discusses the bra sizes of the ladies etc … think season 9 Loren “… they’re mine!” All cut from MTV’s broadcast. Most weight discussions they’ve cut… although camera angles where they’ve zoomed in on stomachs have remained, so that doesn’t quite add up. 
 

Maybe they felt it was too intrusive to have their weight discussed? But then why have the lingering camera angles?

That's when I knew Charm was a keeper with her "tell her to tone it up, she'll do it." And she most likely would have. Even excusing it with college. Charm actually acted like Katy is human, imagine that!!

No, I believe that was Sarah. Both Laker Girls but only Alanna made it to Training Camp. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure the vibe was that Sarah was the stronger dancer. 
 

Katy was the UCLA dancer. Absolutely loved her - and with Charm’s backing… she obviously had something. Who did they compare her to, where they said similar look but less fluff?

Oh okay. I haven't watched the show in a long time so I don't know all who's who in the later seasons.  Yeah I remember Alanna's friend getting so much praise throughout the auditions, and not much much was said about her. I was surprised she didn't make it to training camp, but Alanna did.

I only remember because it has been on fairly recently in the UK. 
Yes, that’s what I was getting at. Alanna was barely mentioned but Sarah got huge praise, certainly in the early rounds.

I do remember finding it “rather convenient” that the winner lived in a place which was very suited for a big and luxurious party… It made me wonder wether the girl actually lived there. So, I totally see your point.

Don't think so. the show is shown on itvbe and it seems consistant to what is being shown. Well its shown the exact same thing as itunes anyway, and from my understanding itunes shows it as it is shown on cmt.

 

I don't think we have pluto here in uk, or I cant get onto it anyway. I know I have to get around US iTunes but making a us account and them buying gift cards, and Apple is a right bummer/annoying with their rules (for their iphones) of you can only watch/use an account from one country every 90 days but that rule don't apply to their apple tv so thank god I can watch the show on my apple tv or I'd be a little more annoyed about the usage of it on my iphone

So I was watching season 8 on Pluto last night and got curious about what happened to Kaitlyn Larae (not LeGrand).  Apparently she didn't even make it through one season.  And after a bit of Googling, I came across this where she requested a restraining order against someone who has the same last name as her, now that she is married.  https://trellis.law/doc/6389670/proposed-order

I wonder what happened.

Those two people have different last names?

I thought she didn't make it through the season because she had seizures or something.

It could be a MIL or SIL or someone whose related to her husband.

It has been "speculated" here and other DCC groups she didn't perform because of a weight warning. Also has been said she didn't receive her rookie ring and  might not considered an alumni. Not sure if there's any truth to it. 

If anyone here knows more feel free to speak.

I would hate to be the only vet cut like poor Gabby was. Leah from seasons 1-2 had the best response when she was cut. Was thankful for the two years she had.
