Yep more I think of it more I’m convinced it’s Ravi. He has access to Jack’s schedule, laptop and no doubt iPhone. He probably has location services on (easy to be doing something for Jack on his device and enabling this). At Jack’s age like he’d notice? So he would know where and when Jack gets a DNA test.

And he probably spread the word at Jabot about the latest Abbott scandal (not the friend of the projectionist who I think is in shipping? How does his gossip reach executive floor in a few hours?). Ravi is basically the only one who benefits from this being public (ie revenge for Ash). Even Victor stands to gain nada - well a bit of schadenfreude.

EvilKyle was a big ass red herring. It’d be kind of clever if not for the OTT silly Kyle characterization and the STUPIDITY of Kyle taking this information to Victor.

That red thing with the cut out sleeves that Phylis was wearing was not at all flattering. Made her look extremely wide.

And I can't watch another round of Shick.

PB's acting today was fabulous.

Not a surprise, I guess, but it also means they aren't planning to walk it back, unless Billy is not an Abbott.

BTW, I will do a recap but it will be sometime over the weekend.

Not necessarily. There has been too much assumption by the triumvirate Abbotts made in collecting samples to compare. I am aware that John had a paternity test done (not a DNA test then because those had not been mainstreamed like they are today and they were just beginning to be used with law enforcement) back in the day. One has to consider whether that was an uncorrupted result, and for this show, has there ever been a paternity or DNA test done in the annals of its history where the result wasn't tainted? I believe this storyline is to allow Jack to wrestle with his self-identity and the dynamic between Kyle and Victor to cause upheaval in both families. At the end of the day, though, I believe they'll decide that to settle the matter they decide to exhume John's body and obtain samples to compare all the siblings. (And while they're at it, they might just want to do some testing to determine whether any or all of them are probably going to face dealing with their own Alzheimer's diagnosis at some point in future).

Quote

He would make sure that Jack thinks he is not, one way or another. In fact he wouldn't have to tamper with the test, just tamper with the result that Jack received on paper.

Good point. And he had some little bit of time to set those wheels in motion. I do believe, though, that Victor was the one to give Kyle's thumb drive to the projectionist, and not Ravi. Victurd has been torturing Jack for decades and the last round didn't end exactly the way Victurd intended, though it wreaked havoc on both Jack and Phyllis, and got Kelly murdered. I simply refuse to believe that Ravi would be capable morally of doing something so heinous to Jack. He has no motive to do so, though I do believe he would have the technical acumen to pull it off. (I will say MiaMama's arguments are very persuasive, though. But I would just hate to see that unfold, but they do seem to be flailing around about what to do with the character. He came in at the same time Juliet did, and they've barely utilized him since she was shuffled off to the great out there).

Yeah I am still inclined to believe Jack remains an Abbott but Mal is writing himself into a corner and getting out will look ridiculous.

Also I don’t think Victor or Kyle edited the video. Victor was very pissed at Abby’s accusation and it’s not really his style to hide his success re: fucking Jack over.

Mal likes to surprise us. That leaves Ravi. It might have been some misguided attempt at avenging Ashley’s honour. Jack pointedly remarked that Ravi was still lovesick.

He apologized to Ash super fast (ie before Kyle tells Ash that Ravi had fixed the drive). Ash said — again it struck me a bit pointedly — that she TRUSTS him totally. He said the projectionist knows a guy at Jabot so he (Ravi) had access to the video. He probably figured Kyle would sit on the info to preserve his position at Jabot. Ravi wanted this public so Jack feels what Ash felt and is forced out at Jabot, hopefully ushering Ash back.

Ravi is an expendable character.

Yeah it’s Ravi.

ETA: also a piece of cake for IT expert Ravi to alter DNA report.

Ohhh, this is a good theory, @miamama.  I thought it was weird that Kyle would go to Ravi of all people to retrieve that footage.  Kyle didn't know what was on it, so why would he want Ravi to view it?  The only reason for that to happen would be that ultimately it is Ravi who edited the film, or used the projectionist who knows someone in shipping etc.  And I also like the theory of Ravi changing the DNA! Hey, you should be a writer ;)

I think it IS Victor who hired someone to change the video.  He looked too smug and not at all surprised when that segment appeared on the screen.  I think Ravi is too honorable a person to do something devious like that.  I also think Victor had someone tamper with the DNA results, but it will be quite a while until Jack learns that he really is John's biological son.

LOLOL  i have to laugh at all the "is so and so really so and so's father?

we have jack being told nope, john isn't your daddy.

traci and now billy are tested against jack with the results saying not related but is it traci and billy who aren't john's kids..

there are still threads about who is sam's real daddy cause gosh darn, he can't be that fine upright mr. goody two shoes cane's son cause juliette/reasons...

then there is the one, is kyle really victor's kid and oh yeah, maybe billy is really victors too....but of course dummer and vyle have had sex so incest?  or is dummer the daughter of someone phyl found in the gutter cause and jack has said, she likes to troll the gutters...

so many questions...

mal is certainly working overtime.

It’s a new day in GC.  And Phyllis is back.  Sigh.

Jack is in his living room sitting in the dark, with the envelope with the DNA results sitting on the coffee table in front of him.  Kyle walks in, asks him why he is sitting in the dark and brings him a coffee.  He sees the envelope and asks his dad if they are still Abbotts.  Jack looks uncertain.

At CL, Sharon is pouring Nick a cup of coffee and letting him know that Faith has a sleepover and Mariah has to work late, hint, hint.  He takes the hint and they plan a bubble bath for two.  Phyllis and Vic walk in.  Vic says the conference was everything she needed to put things in perspective. Nick says he cannot wrap his head around the three of them being besties.  They say they are not besties, just chummy.  Nick says, humph.

Kyle asks his dad to put him out of his misery (please, Jack, do it!) and tell him the results.  Jack comments that Kyle seems awfully eager.  Jack says everything about his life can change just like that with the results of the test.  Kyle says this affects him too.  Kyle tells him he is John’s son no matter what, but he still wants to know the test results.  Jack says that Kyle is correct, he is John’s and no lab results can change that and he pockets the test and leaves for work.

At NE, Prick is in his office reviewing some documents.  His assistant buzzes him, and he tells her, not now, tell her to come back later.  BTW, Prick shows zero signs of having had brain bleeding and a stroke.  He is right back to his old self.  Abby bursts in, saying: come back later, I don’t think so!  He asks her how dare she barge in when his assistant told her he is not to be disturbed.  She says he turned her grandmother’s big night into a fiasco and used it in his frankly boring battle against Jack.

Jack arrives at Jabot.  Before enters his office, he stops and touches the nameplate on the door and he looks troubled.

At CL, Vic tells Nick that they had one girls’ party and she and Phyllis went on one biz trip together, it doesn’t make them besties.  Sharon says they tolerate each other.  Phyllis says she couldn’t have said it better.  She says she admires Sharon’s party planning skills, but not her wardrobe choices.  And she admires Vic’s business acumen.  Vic replies, as she does Sharon’s (admire her business acumen).  Sharon asks what is wrong with her wardrobe choices. Nick says he is still not buying it, they all secretly like each other and it is tripping him out, he needs time to process it.  He leaves.  Sharon asks Vic about the conference, and Vic says it helped a lot, she did a lot of thinking.  Phyllis adds that she did a lot of lecturing, and Vic replies, ad nauseum.  Sharon says she is glad she missed that fun, and I have to agree, thank you Show for not making us sit through Phyllis lecturing Vic.  At least for a couple of days.  Vic says that Phyllis made her see that confessing would be a bad move, and they are going to stick to the story.  She leaves for work.  Phyllis pounces on Sharon telling her to fill her in on everything she missed, the good, the bad and the ugly.  I guess the ugly was meant to cover her wardrobe choices, and Sharon says she is going to ignore that.  Phyllis persists and asks her if she got Nick to back off the search for JT, and Sharon, looking pleased with herself, says, actually, she did.

Jack is in his office, ruminating.  He looks at his dad’s nameplate.  He looks at a baseball and recalls the first game they went to together, and his dad caught that ball.  Afterward, that ball sat prominently on his desk, and when Jack came to visit his dad, he wanted to play with it.  His dad taught him that Jabot is not a playground (tell that to elevator sex buddies Philly), it is a place for hard work and grit, and that one day he would be running the company, just like his dad.  He looks at the envelope and there is a knock at the door.  It’s Billy, who is surprised to see Jack at work.  Jack says there is lots to do.  Billy says he told him he would cover.  He stood in for him at a meeting that morning, and Jack realizes he forgot about the meeting, and thanks him.  He tries to dismiss Billy, saying he needs to work.  Billy wants to know the results of the test, as he gave a DNA sample.  Jack doesn’t want to be badgered and tells him to leave.  Billy says no matter what the test says, they will handle it as a family.  Jack says he knows in his bones, he was meant to run this company, to sit in his father’s chair, he has known this since he could walk.  He promised his father he would always make him proud.  Billy says he wants to help, and a shaken Jack tells him to leave.

Prick tells Abby he had nothing to do with exposing Jack’s paternity.  She says Kyle told her what happened.  Prick asks Abby what Kyle told her.  She says she knows that he had the footage and she is assuming he gave it to Prick.  He asks whether Kyle told her Prick is the one who changed the film.  She replies, not directly, but Kyle denied any involvement and she knows the two of them have been paling it up and having cozy chats.  Prick is stunned that she would believe Kyle over her own father.  She says she knows how far he would go to take down Jack.  She says this is beyond messed up.  He says he has had enough of her petulant behaviour and if she weren’t his daughter she would have her tossed out.  She says, don’t bother, and she stomps out.

Phyllis is upset about the reward Nick has posted for info on JT.  Sharon tries to calm Phyllis down.  Phyllis wants to know what has changed, she was a hot mess before she left.  Sharon says she used a diversionary tactic, Faith.  Nick is busy helping Faith with an anti-bullying project.

Vic arrives at Prick’s office and they hug.  She said her trip did wonders for her, reminding her that she is capable and very strong.  She says what happened took a toll on her self esteem.  He says he failed her as a father.  She says she is a grown woman, and he says she is his baby girl.  He says it didn’t sit well with him, when he heard that JT put his hands on her.  Wait, he didn’t hear, he saw, when he invaded her privacy.  She says she is back at work and feeling strong, just like him, remarking that he must be pleased to be back at work.  He shares that Drinki did a fine job running the company and nursing him back to health.  Vic says he wouldn’t expect any less of her and he agrees.  Vic wishes that he had that same confidence in her.  She could have run the company for him when he was in hospital and recovering.  He tells her she had her hands full.  Kyle arrives.  She asks him what he is doing in enemy territory and he says Prick is mentoring him.  Prick adds, on the intricacies of mergers and acquisitions.  She leaves.  Kyle is impressed with Prick’s ability to spin a story to his family as easily as he spins one to him.

At Jabot, Philly are necking in the reception area.  He tells Phyllis he is worried about Jack, he has his wall up.  Phyllis says she should check on him.  Billy tells her to stay far away, but she is not persuaded.  He leaves.  Phyllis knocks on Jack’s door and he shouts go away.  She enters his office and he repeats it.  He asks her who she think she is and she replies:  the real question is, who are you Jack Abbott?  And he looks perturbed.  He tells her he doesn’t have time for these games, he has had one interruption after another.  She again asks him who he is.  He blows up, saying he is a busy man who can’t get anything done with all the endless and unnecessary interruptions.  She says she will answer for him.  He is a genius, a force of nature who follows his own rules, he is strong, unbreakable, and a fighter.  Jack applauds and sarcastically thanks her for her pep talk.  She tells him he is defined by his fierce traits, not his name.  He tells her to leave.  She says she has seen him fight, including addiction, and even Hurricane Phyllis and the crap she put him through.  He replies that he had total control over the pills, he could choose to walk away, just as he could walk away from her betrayals.  He has no control over what is in the envelope.  He says he wants to be Jack Abbott, the only identity he has ever known.  She says the results will not take away the decades that he was John’s son.  She tells him to close his eyes and imagine his father sitting there, what would he say, what would he tell him to do.  He says he would tell him to man up, to play the hand he was dealt.  She tells him to open the results, he says he is not ready.  She tells him his father loved him dearly and not everyone has that.  She tells him to not let his dad down, to not be afraid to face the truth. She leaves, and he is emotional and anxious.

Prick tells Kyle not to make wild and spurious claims.  Kyle says that Prick didn’t even believe the claims Dina made on the footage, but then suddenly and mysteriously it shows up on the big screen.  Kyle asks him how it got there.  Prick asks him if he did it with the intent of passing the blame on to him.  That maybe he wanted payback against Prick for not accepting his underwhelming offer.  Kyle says he didn’t do it, and he put two and two together that it must be Prick.  Prick tells him to stop insulting him, if Kyle didn’t do it himself, he made sure someone else did.  He says whatever happened, the blame is on Kyle’s shoulders, and Kyle looks uneasy.

Jack open the envelope and sees the results that he and Billy are not half siblings, and he is overcome.

Kyle arrives at Jabot and he and Billy talk about Jack.  Kyle says his grandfather was just an idea to him, but Jack spent his whole life idolizing him.  Billy says he knows what it is like to be an outsider in the Abbott family and he never wants to go back there.  He tells Kyle if he ever wants to talk, to let him know.  Billy says they are not going to abandon Kyle or his father.  Family is more than DNA.  He says the Abbotts will rally and just get closer.  Kyle wants to know how to reach his father.  Billy tells him to keep trying.  He reminds Kyle that no matter what, he is Jack’s son, and he needs to remind him of that.  Billy leaves, and Kyle knocks on Jack’s door.  There is no answer so Kyle walks in.  The office is empty.  Kyle sees the DNA test on his desk and reads it.

Nick is at Sharon’s and texts her that he picked up a bottle of wine.  There is a knock at the door, and it is Phyllis, who barges in.  She says she has some good news to share with Sharon.  Despite Nick’s objections, Phyllis says she will wait, she wants to tell her in person.  They hear the police scanner and she asks about it.  He says he downloaded the app to help him find JT.

Kyle finds Jack at home having drinks.  Kyle tells him he has been looking for him and tells him he found the test results.  He tells his dad he is not alone, he got the same punch in the gut.  He says they are survivors.  They can figure out who they are together.  And Jack looks, I don’t know, underwhelmed?

At NE, Vic is carrying a box and sees Abby and says: no hello, you are not going to welcome your sister home?  Abby says strangely she didn’t know that Vic went out of town.  She says Vic hates those conferences, so why did she go.  Vic says it was a last-minute decision, she needed a break.  Abby says she hopes the time away was healing and Vic replies that it was and dumping the contents of the box will be more healing. She tells her it is the contents of JT’s office.   She says she wants to be rid of all remnants of JT.  She says she is ready to move on and start a new chapter in her life.  Abby says supportive words, but she doesn’t appear to mean them.

Phyllis and Vic hear another broadcast from the scanner about JT’s cell phone being activated.  It provides a location.  Nick tells Phyllis he is going to go there, and to tell Sharon.  She says she is coming with him, and despite his protests, she does.

Kyle tries to convince his dad that he is still an Abbott.  Jack says it makes sense that he is not John’s son.  He never measured up to his dad, who had more style and class and kindness, more intelligence than he could ever have hoped to have.  Kyle tells him it is not true.  Jack says it is all true.  He cannot be CEO of Jabot and he screwed himself out of it.  Kyle whines this affects him too and tells his dad to stop making it all about him. He says, both of their lives have been altered and they are in this together.

Oh, goody, we get a car scene!  Nick and Phyllis are in his car driving and they hear that JT’s phone is on the move, and Nick says the location is close to Vic’s house, maybe he is coming for her.

Kyle suggests getting the Board to take a vote allowing him to stay on as CEO.  Jack says he is the one who convinced them to put the blood Abbott clause in to begin with. He is the one who insisted they leave it there to protect Jabot from outsiders.  Now he is the outsider.  Kyle says there must something they can do.  Jack says, it’s done.  He chuckles, saying Karma is enjoying this one, she is laughing her ass off right in his face, she knows he is unworthy hold the title of CEO of Jabot, unworthy to fill John Abbott’s shoes.  And, he says, he did to himself.  Laughing, he says:  you got to admit, that is funny.  He grabs his jacket and heads for the door, and Kyle asks him where he is going and he says: out.

As for the Board, my recollection is that the Board did not approve of that change to the bylaws, Jack did it on his own, which at the time made no sense.  So ostensibly he could change it on his own, but I guess they are rewriting history to suit the storyline.

Jack’s complete lack of interest in Kyle is extremely entertaining.

Of course Phyllis had to be shoved into a scene with Jack, ugh. She gets zero emotional work in her romcom pairing so.... And dammit Gina is a good actress in those scenes. But I don’t buy that Jack would indulge Phyllis and sit there. Not after the Philly affair.

Peter when he read the report! Such a great actor. He looked gutted, like actually kicked in the stomach. I couldn’t help but compare it to JM’s two scenes reading devastating DNA results. Lol.

I don't think Ravi had anything to do with it either, other than he recovered the footage. I believe Ravi when he said he did not have time to look at the drive, just handed it over to Kyle. I also don't think Ravi would think this is avenging Ashley's honor - he knows Ashley well enough to know that despite her feud with Jack, she would know better than anyone how devastating the news would be to Jack and that she would not wish that on him. In addition, the news mostly makes Dina look bad, and Ravi is quite fond of Dina.

It is definitely Victor IMO, and the only reason he had to show up at the screening. He knew Dina would want him to stay, and he wanted to watch Jack's reaction to the clip. He was not the least bit surprised that the clip was in the movie - because he made sure it was there.

Well, golly gosh, it’s just tough luck that Jack isn’t an Abbott and, well, Billy is now John Abbott’s only son. Shucks. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles, I guess, where Billy is now the sole conduit through which the Abbott line flows. Funny how that happened. And golly gee, now Billy, out of the goodness of his heart, mind you, will just have to take over the CEO position at Jabot. With a heavy heart, of course. To help his brother. And darned if it isn’t all Jack’s fault for putting that mean old blood clause into the by-laws. Life works in mysterious ways when it’s not busy kicking Jack Abbott in the teeth.

Watch out, Genoa City! Here comes Nick Newman, crusader for justice. The Dork Knight is on the case, his hot banana cocked and loaded. JT will wish he was actually dead when the poop starts flying. Nick’s been on an all corn diet and he’s a mad monkey on a mission. Bonus: his Robin on this ride is at least thrice as annoying as the original.

Is Kyle just in town to whine? It’s all he does. On and on and on with his narcissistic drivel. Buttbiscuit is going to advise Kyle on how to get noticed by Jack? What’s he going to tell him? To fuck Phyllis? I don’t think Kyle is into that, which is about the only thing I’ll give him credit for.

I really cannot stand the character of Kyle but also realized that I really cannot stand the actor who plays that role. The way he smirks and dresses and walks. Metrosexual to the max and seems to think a lot of himself. I hope they send him back to where they found him.

I think this is true. I believe he went to the screening to see whether Kyle would do it, though, and I believe he thought he would. (I don't believe Kyle gave Victor the memory card that was destroyed. I think he gave Victor a copy, but I might be mistaken). Victor smirking about the reveal wouldn't necessarily mean that Victor was behind it, just that he was enjoying Jack's pain and the knowledge that Kyle had just created a chasm between them, and it proved Victor's suspicion that Kyle was an untrustworthy little weasel, who would not only intentionally hurt his father, but fuck himself in the process and upset his frail, failing grandmother. The more I think about it, I believe you're right about it being Ravi who is behind this. I don't like it, but I had to wonder about Ravi's sudden appearance at Crimson Lights and telling Ashley he'd heard all about the fiasco at the theater the night before from the "friend in the mailroom" to the projectionist. AS told one of the soap mags that the reason he'd been offscreen was to go on the audition rounds for primetime pilots. Maybe he landed one, or maybe MY just thought he was half way out the door anyway, so he might just as well cut him loose now in order to bring on the announced newbies.

It’s the same day in GC.

Nick and Phyllis are speeding toward the location of JT’s phone.  Phyllis secretly sends a text.

Vic is at her father’s desk.  Abby and Ash show up.  Abby wants to run some BS stuff by Vic.  Ash tells Vic that Abby got BS to sponsor Berlin Fashion Week, and Vic tells Abby that is excellent work.  Vic gets a text from Phyllis telling her JT’s phone pinged.

Nick gets to the location and sees a guy in a hoody and goes chasing after him while Phyllis yells, no, no.

Billy is at Jack’s desk telling someone on the phone that Jack has the flu.  Kyle walks in and tells Billy that Jack is on a drinking binge since he saw the results of the test.  He shows Billy the test.  Billy asks where Jack is, and Kyle says he doesn’t know.

Abby is talking business with Vic, but Vic is distracted.  Ash gets a call from Billy saying they have a Jack emergency.  Ash tells Vic she has to go, it is a family emergency.  She tells Vic they will be back to talk about Fashion Week.  Abby mentions something as well about getting Vic’s input and Vic is so agreeable, she loves everything they are doing.  They leave and Vic texts Phyllis to find out what is happening.

Neanderthal Nick is running after hoodie guy, and Phyllis is calling after the guy, calling him JT!  Nick grabs the guy but of course it is not JT. The cops arrive and Nick is all worked up wanting to know how the guy got the phone.  He tells the cops it is JT Hellstrom’s phone.  The cop says: let me guess, you downloaded that app.  Hahaha!  Nick says he did, rather defensively, and the cop tells him it doesn’t give him the right to go all vigilante.  Nick says he is Nick Newman, as if that matters.  Hoodie guy says he found the phone in a dumpster at the airport and just finally charged it today.  Nick says they can use the phone to track JT’s movements, and the cop tells him to hand it over, it is evidence.

At HWG Hilary is working on her next show, and Devon is listening to new artists.  Hilary is eyeing him.  These two are pathetic.

At Jabot, Billy, Ash, Abby and Kyle are calling Jack’s friends to try and track him down.  Abby says Ash knows just how Jack is feeling.  Ash describes how hard it was when that secret came out.  Kyles tells Ash that Jack told him how sorry he is about what he did to her.  Billy leaves to take a business call.  They are worried about what Jack will do next.  Abby wants to call the police, but technically he is not a missing person.  Billy comes back and says that call was about a massive cosmetics contract that Jack forgot to sign and the cost to fix it is equally massive.  He says it will have to wait till they find Jack.  Ash says by working together, they can do both.

Arturo is at the Ranch dropping off something for the New Hope project.  Drinki tells him that she and Prick love each other but they were stuck.  Arturo asks if the open marriage got things moving again.  Hah!  She says it was an experiment that worked but not one that they are going to repeat.  Arturo is very understanding and says he just enjoys working with her.  She tells him that he makes her feel beautiful and as she walks him to the door, before he leaves, he kisses her, and Vic walks up and catches them.  Drinki introduces Vic to Arturo.  He then leaves.  Drinki confirms that he was her special friend but that is over. Vic tells Drinki about the phone and shows her the text from Phyllis.  Drinki starts to suspect Phyllis, that maybe she kept the phone to blackmail them.  Vic doesn’t think so.  Vic wonders if maybe it is JT, maybe he is alive somehow.  Drinki says then they won’t have to worry about being charged with murder, but that burying someone alive is a felony.  Vic says that he did try to kill Prick, so they would be even.  Phyllis shows up.  Vic asks if it was JT, and Phyllis says no, but she thought the same thing.  She says the police have the phone and Nick is not backing off.

Devon is listening to the music as Hilary drools while watching him.  They blah blah about music.

Ash convenes an emergency meeting of the Board.  Traci and Lauren can’t make it but she has their votes by proxy, and Phyllis has not gotten back to her so she says the meeting will go ahead.  I love how they just make up this shit about how a Board works.  Ash says Jack can no longer serve as CEO because of the blood Abbott clause.  She says they have to send a message to the industry that they are rock solid.  She nominates Billy as the new and permanent CEO of Jabot, and Billy looks shocked.

Nick and Vic are at CL, and Sharon is telling Nick he is lucky the police didn’t press charges and that she warned him not to interfere with their investigation.  Nick says he feels terrible about what happened, that he scared the hell out of the homeless guy.  He says he tried to make it up to him.  Vic says, to him?  What about her, more than anyone, she is affected by all of us this.  She explains that she was having her first good day at work and then she gets a text from Phyllis about Nick chasing down JT’s phone.  She tells him she is trying to move on, every time she thinks of JT it brings her to her knees.  She says if his vendetta is for her benefit, to drop it.  He says he didn’t intend to ruin her day, but he cannot sit back and watch JT squirm his way out of this.  JT hurt his dad, and he needs to get justice.  He asks why Phyllis would text Vic at work and distract her about rumours about JT.  Sharon says she is sure she meant no harm.  Nick huffs that since he was actually trying help Vic, maybe she could shift some of the blame to the person that actually ruined her day.  He stomps off.  What a baby.

Billy says he didn’t sign up for permanent CEO.  Billy says Ash should be CEO and forget the stupid clause.  Now he has a point.  With the willy nilly rules this Board follows, they could just change the clause.  But he doesn’t get to suggest that.  Ash says because of the clause there are only two people who can be CEO, Billy and Traci, and Traci wants nothing to do with it.  Phyllis walks in and objects.  The reason being is that she thinks they are selecting Billy by default, when really they should be selecting him for his brains, talent, charm, energy and remarkably delectable style and good looks.  She blathers on some more about Billy’s talents.  Billy is still not keen, but the Board goes ahead and votes him in as CEO.  Billy says as his first act of business he is rescinding the blood Abbott clause, and Kyle rather eagerly says, can he do that.  Billy says he can, but Ash corrects him, saying this is not a dictatorship.  She says he would have to follow procedure, meaning he would have to call another Board meeting and have a vote on it.  True, except that is not what Jack did when he implemented it, because if he did, all the Board would have known about it.  He says okay, they will table the clause.  Then he tells Kyle and Abby to find Jack while they care of Jabot business.

Later, Billy is at Jack’s desk, now his desk, and Phyllis is hanging all over him trying to boost his confidence, because he is freaking out at being CEO.  She starts doing a relaxation scenario with him on a French Polynesian island.  He relaxes enough so that he and Phyllis start smooching.  Ash walks in and gives him her files from when she was CEO. She tells him that she wants him to succeed and she is there for him.  She leaves.  Phyllis tells Billy he doesn’t need Ashley’s plans, he can make his own.  She says Ash is trying to rein him in.  He says he is fine with following her plans, because he just wants to keep business going until they can change the clause and get Jack back in his chair.

At the GCAC, Kyle and Abby have checked with hotel and restaurant staff, and they cannot find Jack.  Kyle says it is starting to freak him out.  Abby is skeptical about his devoted son routine.  She asks him what he thought would happen when he fished that memory card out of the ashes and handed it over to her dad.  She says she hates that her dad hijacked Dina’s big evening and outed Jack in front of everyone.  She told her dad how despicable that was.  Kyle says so did he.  She says none of this would even be possible without a slimy assist from Kyle.  Kyle says there is a lot to his story that she doesn’t understand. She says, she can’t get over how he could do that to his own father. At first, she thought it was payback for being alienated from the family.  But she says he actually seems upset by all of this, and he says he is.  Abby says that makes him even more disturbed than she thought.  He says they should split up then to search for Jack.  She tells him that family is everything, if he messes with them he is messing with her.  She says she is convinced that Kyle gave her dad the means to hurt her uncle in the cruelest possible way, and she will find out why.  And she walks out.

Back at HWG, Devon and Hilary are still ogling each other.  Then they start slow dancing.  Shoot me now.

At CL, Arturo bumps into Abby, and she tells him she is searching for her uncle Jack.  Arturo offers to help her search.

At the Ranch, Vic shows up to tell her mom that Nick is relentless and will continue to search for JT, he just won’t tell her about it.  Drinki says if Nick continues this search and listening to the police scanner, they could get inside info.  Vic bitches that Phyllis should have stopped him, since when can she not get men to do what she wants?  Vic gets a phone call and tells her mom, shaken, that it is the police.

At Jabot, Phyllis tells Billy that he shouldn’t feel guilty.  Billy says he misses hanging out in their apartment, in his underwear waiting for her to get home.  She says that is the life of a house cat.  She tells him he is just as ambitious as Jack.  She says they will celebrate tonight and have sexy times.

At CL, Arturo and Abby are back from searching all the south side bars with no luck.  Also at CL, Nick wonders if it is a coincidence that the homeless guy looked like JT.  WTF does that mean?  Sharon reminds him they are in Wisconsin and there are a lot of tall blond guys!  Hah!  Nick says they have had lots of tips of JT sightings.  He wonders if JT planted the phone at the airport but he is still in the vicinity.  He says he may be hiding in plain sight.  She suggests they go home and have some sexy times.

Vic talks to the police and they tell her about the texts on JT’s phone.  They want her to come in and to talk to her about them.  Vic thinks this is the end, if one of those texts contradicts what she says, they are busted.  She says: what are we going to do, mom?

These people are trash. Actually, I apologize to trash. Trash doesn’t dry hump other rubbish all over a sibling’s office, leaving their heady, fetid stew of pheromones all over the furniture. Wolverines in heat comport themselves with more dignity and class than these two broken sex toys. Billy should feel guilty, Phyllis. And wherever Ghost John is, he should feel guilty about producing the Buttbiscuit.

I love how everyone is actually worried that Nick might figure something out. Has he managed to differentiate his buttocks from his elbow yet? Calm down, folks. This is a man who could get lost in the neck of a hoodie.

So that was Arturo. Nice. Thanks for the clip spinxella. And MTS is looking great. Love the hair. Much more flattering short. Victoria looked nice too. The mop looked like it had been combed and styled which is a huge improvement from the last time I saw it.

I cannot get over how fucking stupid Mal gets over Philly. Like they are cracking jokes and smooching and talking about Billy’s career taking over Jack’s job when Jack is basically destroyed and possibly dead somewhere in a ditch?

And PERMANENT CEO???? What the FUCK? Ashley could not let Jack do his job and fully backs this loser? You just know he’ll find himself loving it (and Phyllis will suck his dick while telling him not to feel guilty).

Aaargh

Did this episode remind anyone else of the episode of where Jack saved Billy from the underground fire while forgiving him, Victoria slapped Billy, and Philly reunited? As in forced, contrived, hamfisted, tone deaf, embarrassing, and all to push GT and JT as a hot fun romcom couple.

The whole show was so absurd. Why can’t they change the blood clause? The board just voted on Billy. Why not just vote on that? They are all together, proxies in hand. It MADE NO SENSE. And how are they not all driving around looking for Jack? He was in JAIL FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER and no board meeting was convened for a CEO appointment. He’s been missing a few HOURS and Jabot MUST BE FIXED FAST. Before you even know what happened to Jack? How does Ash think he’ll feel when he’s off somewhere possibly suicidal reading in the news that THEY HAVE PERMANENTLY REPLACED HIM WITH JOHN ABBOTT’S REAL SON??????????????

Omg the stupid.

Billy will never get a blow job as good as the one Mal Young is giving the character now.

Victor can kick puppies, sell meth to nuns and commit war crimes, and his family will fall all over themselves to forgive him. Jack inserts an ill-considered and out of character blood Abbott clause into company bylaws and fate itself drops by to give him an atomic wedgie. Billy takes more of his stuff, Ashley approves, Phyllis licks that vanilla popsicle as if Billy tastes like success instead of bitter, tongue shriveling failure, and Kyle gets lost in his own navel, communing with the lint. Jack’s most avid supporter appears to be Abby. That’s fucked up.

It’s a new day in GC.  The good news: no Philly and no Hevon.

At the Abbott manse, Kyle and Ash are frustrated with their search for Jack who is nowhere to be found.  Why is it that I figured out yesterday that he is at the cabin, but his family hasn’t even thought of it? Dina walks in and is worried about the missing John, who never came home last night and still is no where to be found.  Ash and Kyle tell her went on a trip.

Jack is at the cabin drinking, of course.

At the GCAC Vic gets a call from Paul, saying he wants to follow up on their meeting that is going to happen today, about the texts they found on JT’s phone.  Vic says her schedule is packed, she will come by when her meetings are finished.  Paul insists that this is important but she has already hung up.

At NE, Prick asks Abby why Vic and Ash are late.  She replies that she cannot speak for Vic, but her mom is not coming in to work today because Jack is missing and she is looking for him.  She tells him that Jack has been a wreck since he learned about his paternity and that if anything bad happens to him, it is on Prick.  Prick says he hopes she is finished hurling unfounded accusations at him and that he had nothing to do with doctoring the film she made for Dina. He tells her if Jagabbid decides to flee because of some personal crisis, that is his business and there is nothing Abby can do about it.  She asks how many times has Prick disappeared leaving his family to fear the worst? She says this is not like that.  He tells her he is sorry for her distress and says she and her mother can rest assured Jack will return to the fold once he has stopped licking his wounds.  Vic has arrived at this point and asks what is going on with Jack, and quickly follows up with an apology for prying.  Prick starts the meeting, saying Ash is not joining.  Vic says they need to resched, because Ash is the point person on the project.  Prick says it is time sensitive, they cannot delay.  Vic says she will take over the project and see it to the end.  Prick thinks that is a great idea.  Abby is annoyed, and says she is leaving because she refuses to apologize for putting family first.  On her way out, she bumps into Paul and asks for his help in searching for Jack.  He figures Jack is just sorting things out and will be home soon, but he will ask his Officers to keep an eye out.  He asks if she knows where Vic is, and she tells him she is meeting with her dad.  She asks if there is news on JT.  Paul asks her if she stopped by Vic’s house the night JT disappeared.  She replies that she did not, she decided to pass on the girls’ night.  She asks him why he is interested in where she was, and he replies he is just trying to put together the pieces.

Dina is very upset about the missing John.  Ash and Kyle try to calm her down and persuade her to lie down. Dina agrees but says she will stop worrying when John walks through that door.

Jack is tending the fire at the cabin.  He’s drunk.  He takes out his phone to do a video, saying he is not even sure who he is doing this for.  He begins by talking about the screening he set up for his mother, the labour of love for his family, and how it blew up in his face.  He says he probably deserved it because they didn’t want to show the dark and embarrassing parts of his mother’s life, but the truth came out anyway.  He says he is going to embrace the truth now, and he is going to make a sequel.  He’ll call it the Life and Times of Jack, last name TBD.  The time, after the revelation.  The setting, the Abbott Family Cabin.  How fitting, since it was right over there as a teenager he watched his mother and, he hesitates and says, his mother and John fight about her infidelity.  He wonders aloud whether she brought her lovers up there, and answers himself saying, probably.  He says there is something about the air in this place, even his own wife cheated on him there.  He says this place has a lot of dark secrets.  He digs around in the bureau and finds a photo album of family memories, taking pictures of the happy memories.  He says, it is all lies, that after John died he tried to be the head of a family that doesn’t even exist.  He says the Abbotts are a myth and throws the photo album into the fire.

Abby is now at the manse and Kyle is filling her in on Dina’s worry about John being missing.  Abby tells Ash that she ran into Paul and told him about Jack.  They start to list more places they should check including the Abbott cabin.  Finally!  Kyle volunteers to go but Abby says she will go, she knows the area better and it will help her feel like she is doing something, and it is not like she will be missed at work.  Ash asks her what she means, and she says it is the same old stuff with Prick, plus Vic taking full advantage of their family crisis.  She tells her mom that Vic snatched up a project that Ash was leading.  Ash says she doesn’t care about that, she is concerned about Jack and that things are running smoothly at Jabot.  Kyle volunteers to help out at Jabot.  Abby snaps at him that Jabot doesn’t need his version of help, she is still convinced that he gave the memory card to her father.  Ash says, please, not right now.  Abby insists, yes, right now.  Abby says to her mom that now that Billy is CEO, can she imagine what Kyle is capable of? Kyle asserts that he will not mess with Billy or the company.  Abby is skeptical, saying it will take her a while to trust him, if ever.  She leaves for the cabin.  Kyle asks Ash what he should do.  She tells him to do what he has to do to find his dad, go through his contacts.  She tells him to be discreet, they don’t want word getting out that Jack is missing and Billy is now CEO.  Too late, Ash, Abby already filled in the Newmans.  She doesn’t want Jack to find out online, worrying about what he will do.

Jack is filming the fire with the burnt-up photo album, saying it is a shot for his movie posters.  He says he would like to burn the cabin down, if it would erase the memories, he would do it.  He leaves the cabin.

Abby is at CL to get a coffee for the road, and bumps into Arturo.  He asks about the search for her uncle.  She says she is heading to the cabin, and he tells her there is a storm coming with heavy rain and flash floods forecast.  She tells him she is an excellent driver, except for that whole running down Tucker episode.  He offers to drive her saying he has a truck with four-wheel drive.  She asks him if he can spare the time, and he says when it is something important, he can make the time, and she looks quite pleased.

Vic and Prick are still meeting discussing business.  She thanks him for letting her take the lead on Ashley’s project. He says on the topic of Ash, she is not forgiven.  He says he understands her personal challenges but that is not justification for her to accuse someone of Ash’s stature with corporate espionage, in public.  He says she could have sued her for defamation of character and she would win.  Vic says she is grateful she didn’t.  He tells her she is lucky.  Vic says she is going to prove herself to him no matter how long it takes.  Prick gets a text from Kyle saying they have to meet about Jack.  Prick tells Vic he has an outside meeting and that he will entrust her with a video conference meeting he was supposed to take.  Prick goes to leave and sees Paul in the waiting area.  He asks if it is about JT’s phone, that Nick filled him in on it.  Paul says he has nothing solid, he is just here to ask Vic some more questions.  Vic walks out of Prick’s office and sees Paul.  Prick leaves.  Vic tells Paul he shouldn’t have shown up there like that, she told him how busy she is.  She tells him she is going into an overseas video conference, and he says, no problem, he will wait.  She goes back into Prick’s office and she is visibly shaken.

Kyle is at the Ranch with Prick.  He tells Prick about the DNA test, and Jack taking off.  Prick seems quite pleased, saying that there is solid proof that John didn’t father at least two of his children.  Prick asks Kyle why he made him leave a meeting for this update, he could have phoned with that info.  Kyle admits that he had doubts about what Prick would do with the memory card the minute he gave it to him.  He says he pushed his doubts aside to secure his own future.  Prick asks him if he now has regrets, and Kyle says of course he does.  He knew Jack would be devastated, but he thought he could handle it.  Now that he has seen his reaction, his despair, he says he feels really bad about his part in it.  But then he promptly says he cannot undo the past, saying that Jack is going to have to deal with the fallout at home and at Jabot.  Prick’s ears prick up and he asks if they invoked the blood Abbott clause (BAC).  And if Jack is no longer CEO?  Kyle says he didn’t hear it from him.  And now any chance he had to run the company is crumbling before his eyes but faster than he predicted.  Kyle says he lived up to his end of their agreement and he wants Prick to honour his and give him a job at Newman.

Abby and Arturo arrive at the cabin and Jack’s car is nowhere to be seen.  When they enter the cabin they see the fire, so Abby knows he was there.  She thinks he might be nearby.  She says maybe he went fishing.  In the dark!  They head out to find him.  Oh boy.

Paul finally gets to talk to Vic.  He reads out the texts that JT sent to Vic with the final one in all caps: DO NOT IGNORE ME!  She reminds Paul that she had turned her phone off and when she turned it back on she deleted the messages without reading them.  He wants to know when she turned her phone off.  He tells her that JT called her before he sent the texts, but she says she never heard it.  He tells her someone at the party heard her phone ring.  She says maybe she turned it off afterwards and didn’t realize he called.  He is surprised that she didn’t hear her own phone. She says her memory is fuzzy but one thing is clear, she wanted nothing to do with JT that night.  She thinks they are finished, but Paul tells her they are not even close to finished.

At the cabin, the storm has arrived, and Abby and Arturo return soaked from the rain.  They found no sign of Jack at the lake.  Arturo suggests that maybe Jack went to get groceries.  Abby says they need to get out of their wet clothes and Arturo seems on board with that.

Jack is driving drunk and reliving the conversation where he tells Ash about the BAC, that it is 100% legitimate, unlike her.  She calls him a son of a bitch.  He tells her she is never taking his job from him.  Then he relives his conversation with Kyle about family.  And he hears Dina saying that she needed more than John could ever give her, and the consequence is that Jack is not John’s son.  There is thunder and lightening and Jack has tears streaming down his angry face as he drives.

At the Ranch, Kyle explains he wants to plan things out.  He cannot make the move to Newman right now with Jack so fragile.  Prick sarcastically says how nice it is of Kyle to be so compassionate about his father while looking out for number one.  Kyle says he needs to face reality.  When Jack was CEO he sidelined Kyle.  Now he is even more of an outsider.  Prick says he admires him for coming to him and demanding what he wants, but he doesn’t owe him a damned thing, because he didn’t use the video.  Kyle says it had to be Prick because it wasn’t him.  Prick says he didn’t meet his end of the bargain.  If he wants a place at Newman, he needs him to continue to be indispensable to him, by getting info on Jabot.  For example, who is now CEO of Jabot.  Kyle hesitantly tells him that is not yet public, but that it is Billy.  Prick laughs.  Kyle whines that Billy didn’t even want it and now Ash is micromanaging him.  Prick chuckles some more at the thought of Billy being CEO and of Ash micromanaging him, and he tells Kyle that is valuable info, and thanks him.

Abby is drinking a cup of coffee staring at the fire, and Arturo walks into the room, shirtless.  He comments that the storm is getting worse.  She hopes that her uncle found a place to wait out the storm.  He puts on the hoodie she got out for him.  They talk about the conflict between the Newmans and the Abbotts and how she is stuck in the middle.  Arturo tells her he comes from a regular family with regular people and regular jobs.  He has a brother and sister. He thinks she would find that boring but she disagrees, saying that people coming from solid backgrounds have a better shot at happily ever after. He says maybe someday, but he is single right now, and he just got out of a relationship.  He says he really liked her a lot but they both agreed they weren’t looking for anything serious. She tells him about having had failed relationships and baggage.

Jack is now playing classical music, loud, and driving faster.

Vic is frustrated with Paul, asking how many times she is going to have to repeat herself.  She says he can keep asking her about the texts and phone calls but she cannot tell him something that didn’t happen or that she flat out cannot remember.  He switches gears and asks if Abby stopped by that night, and she says she didn’t.  He says one of her guests said that she did.  She asks who said that.  Then she says whoever said it probably had one too many margaritas.  She tells Paul to ask Abby.  He says he did and she confirmed she was not there.  Vic, annoyed, says okay, she wasn’t there, case closed.  She tells him she doesn’t appreciate him playing these games with her as if she is the one at fault.  She says this has nothing to do with the search for JT.  He says he is being lied to and he doesn’t know why…yet.  But he is not giving up until he figures it out.  Vic is very defensive throughout this entire conversation making her looking guilty of something.

Abby apologizes for getting into all of that personal stuff, and he tells her she was just being honest.  As he moves in closer to her, he tells her that she just seems like a funny, beautiful, smart woman that a guy just dreams about meeting.  She smiles.  They are within kissing distance.

Vic tells Paul that she agreed to answer some questions and he has turned it into an interrogation.  She tells him to show himself out.  He says he can go, but it won’t end this, not for her, or Drinki, Sharon or Phyllis.  She asks why.  He says she knows why, because until he finds JT...  And she is angry now and loudly says the man left town, and they had nothing to do with that.  He says there are too many discrepancies about her story, about the phone, about who showed up that night, and that he has proof that JT was near her house and amazingly enough, no one at the party saw him.  He says one of them, or all of them, know where he is and he is tempted to haul them all into the station and hold them there until someone tells the truth.  She snaps and tells him to stop, admitting that she has been lying, but now she is going to tell him everything.

Dina is very upset that John is still missing, and she tells Kyle that she drove him away with all of her affairs and abominable behaviour.  He assures her that is not true, that John is missing because of him.  He explains that he shared some private info that should have been kept secret, that he set all this in motion.  Dina doesn’t understand and says she just wants John to come home to her.  She goes to the front door, anxiously looking out.  Kyle says to himself that he does too.

Jack is intently driving, the music crescendos, he loses control and crashes.

The promo for this week showed Jack putting a pill in his mouth sitting at the cabin. So he won’t die but he will be PATHETIC very soon @HeatLifer. Don’t you worry. Philly will probably help him through detox. lmao

I’m stupidly hoping he spits it out. But whatever, he’s going “dark” so he will be a loser and Billy is AWESOME.

Kyle is ridiculous. He’s trying to get a job with Victor now? Even Victor was disgusted with him. You know you suck when...

Why is Paul such a terrible detective?

Why has Kyle not been fired out of a giant space cannon directly into the sun? If that is not logistically and economically feasible, why hasn’t someone flushed him down a man-sized toilet?

Why is Arturo so appealing? Will Abby ruin his hotness?

Most importantly, at least for me, why is Abby the only one who seems to give a tinker’s damn about Jack?

I think Arturo is hot, but mostly it is because of who he is. He was great with Nikki, respected her, revered her, and was okay with the end of the relationship.  He has been great with Abby. Maybe he is a player, but he is a pretty skilled one, if so.  I am kind of hoping that he is the real deal and Abby gets a normal relationship for once.

Oh, no--time for Toonces the Driving Traumatized Character again!

And speaking of disaster zones, hair & makeup seem to have freshened up Paul with a new darker rug, a substantial one at that. Did Rexx have a special on?

Arturo hot? Not to me at all. On the flesh-crawling scale, he hovers somewhere in Kyle's vicinity, except in the Variable Ethnicity aisle.

I love Jack and PB but if he wants to talk about all the bad stuff that happened at the cabin, I think he should mention the time (or was it times) he slept with his father’s wife, Jill. Who took the picture and sent it to John as puzzle pieces? Katherine? Anyway, it was brilliant.

I was gonna put my money on one (or both) of them to turn out to be responsible for A) Editing the 'found footage' into Dina's movie..

and B) J.T.'s death...

But that second story has taken another (even more stupid) turn.
