It's pretty great. Link to comment

Trini July 23, 2015 Share July 23, 2015 It makes me wonder if they just didn't come up with the plot to this film based on that backlash. That, plus "How can we add Batman to this?" 5 Link to comment

MarkHB July 27, 2015 Author Share July 27, 2015 Our heroes will grace the cover of the September issue of Empire Magazine. As much as I am eagerly looking forward to this movie. I do have to say that this particular cover looks like the Before and After in a laxative ad. But the Gotham background for Batman looks great. 2 Link to comment
Trini July 27, 2015 Share July 27, 2015 My first thought about that cover (both sides) was "darkness. no parents!" Second thought was all the Photoshop issues. BUT ANYWAY, this movie isn't coming out until March; too much too soon? Link to comment
ribboninthesky1 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 I don't understand why Batman appears considerably larger than Superman. I realize Ben Affleck is taller than Henry Cavill, but come on now. 4 Link to comment
ribboninthesky1 July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 It'll be interesting if the actual film generates as much discussion. I just realized this thread is seven pages in, and the movie isn't due for release for another eight months. Link to comment
Trini July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 (edited) This is nothing. There's another fanboy forum that already has hundreds of threads on this movie. JBC344 August 19, 2015 Share August 19, 2015 It seems like most of WW storyline will be with Bruce Wayne, but she probably has more in common with Superman. I say she will probably be the neutral party and may even play a part in bringing them together. 1 Link to comment

MarkHB August 19, 2015 Author Share August 19, 2015 It seems like most of WW storyline will be with Bruce Wayne, but she probably has more in common with Superman. I say she will probably be the neutral party and may even play a part in bringing them together. I hope so... that would be a perfect position for her to be in and entirely consistent with her character. In the EW story last month, Zack called her "the gateway drug to the rest of the Justice League," which would also go along with your idea. The article also compared the scene where Bruce and Diana are interacting in a high-society style black tie party (we've seen the pic) to something out of The Thomas Crown Affair, where each of them knows who the other really is but they're each sticking to their own cover story . I haven't seen The Avengers, so I can't compare to that, but I'm positive that Bruce and Kal-El won't be showing off to or competing for Wonder Woman. They seem to be sticking with the old-school Clark-Lois pairing, for one thing, and after the "he didn't try to save any civilians!" flack from MoS I can't believe they'd turn around and have him dump or disrespect Lois (especially an Amy Adams Lois); he is supposed to be the Big Blue Boy Scout after all. There may well be an attraction between Bruce and Diana, but my hunch is that they're both going to be too busy saving the world to do much about it (and we don't know anything at all about how Steve Trevor is going to be handled). MarkHB September 10, 2015 Author Share September 10, 2015 Snyder actually addresses the "more Batman" issue, somewhat, in a new interview with the Daily Beast: “Only in that because it’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do and you just had a whole Superman movie,” he said. “But I think only in that way, because you need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that’s more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on.” Link to comment
Joe September 10, 2015 Share September 10, 2015 That sounds like they're going to show us Batman's origin. Good. I heard a rumour about that, but I need to see it on screen just to be sure. Much like Spider-Man's origin, they've just been so secretive about it. 6 Link to comment
JBC344 September 11, 2015 Share September 11, 2015 I actually don't think we are getting Batman's origin, I just think there will be more screen time setting up Ben Affleck's Batman and showing everyone how he is different from Christian Bale's version. 1 Link to comment
MarkHB September 11, 2015 Author Share September 11, 2015 We know from the Comic-Con trailer that they're going to show the Wayne murders, but I don't know what they'll show beyond that. I haven't heard any casting rumors of a "20-25 yo Ben Affleck type" who could cover the "bat flies through the open window" scene, which has been shown far less often than the killing sequence even though it's the source of the "Criminals are a superstitious, cowardly lot" line. Link to comment
JBC344 September 11, 2015 Share September 11, 2015 I've always assumed the "Wayne murder" scene from the trailer will be a flashback, and that there won't be much earlier stuff, but who knows. Link to comment
MarkHB September 12, 2015 Author Share September 12, 2015 ITA on the flashback aspect, and we also see a double funeral which I have to assume is part of the same. I wouldn't put it past Snyder to include the "I shall become a bat!" scene just because it's never been done in a film, but I don't know for certain. I doubt there will be much else from that era, though. Link to comment

MarkHB September 16, 2015 Author Share September 16, 2015 Interview with Jesse Eisenberg, no spoilers. With no disrespect meant to Mr. Hackman or Christopher Reeve, what attracted Mr. Eisenberg to this particular comic book film is how the genre has evolved and the parts have evolved with them, he said. “Now people expect the tone to be more realistic just because we live in a world where the average audience member has a sense of psychological motivations… [it raises the question] how can one man—Superman—have so much power? These are the kind of things that we talk about when we think about authoritarian states, when we talk about Vladimir Putin having a strong foothold in Eastern Europe. They’re addressing geopolitics in this movie and not in a way that’s pretentious or esoteric.” Link to comment
lion10 September 16, 2015 Share September 16, 2015 (edited) Interview with Jesse Eisenberg, no spoilers.I hope the movie has some humor in it from Superman with some personality beyond "incorruptible good". Like when/if people are barraging him about how much power he has, he gives them some version of "Damn, y'all need to stop hating."And I also hope we see Superman enjoying his powers. Eating pizza or a sandwich on the edge of the tallest building in Metropolis, laughing and talking with Lois Lane. Edited September 17, 2015 by lion10 Link to comment
greenbean September 17, 2015 Share September 17, 2015 Good god, is this going to be on some anti-Russia kick!? I've noticed more films from Hollywood of that bent, but I never thought it would be worked into Batman vs Superman of all things! Link to comment
MarkHB September 17, 2015 Author Share September 17, 2015 I read that as more thematic than specific. In other words, it's not about Putin or Russia, but about people having concerns when one man has unthinkable power. Link to comment

MarkHB September 18, 2015 Author Share September 18, 2015 I mentioned this in a couple of other threads, but it's appropriate here, too: Bill Finger is going to get a screen credit on Batman v Superman! DC Entertainment and the family of Bill Finger are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement that recognizes Mr. Finger’s significant contributions to the Batman family of characters. "Bill Finger was instrumental in developing many of the key creative elements that enrich the Batman universe, and we look forward to building on our acknowledgement of his significant role in DC Comics’ history," stated Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment. "As part of our acknowledgement of those contributions," Nelson continued, "we are pleased to confirm today that Bill Finger will be receiving credit in the Warner Bros. television series Gotham beginning later this season, and in the forthcoming motion picture Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Kel Varnsen September 19, 2015 Share September 19, 2015 That's pretty cool, although I wonder what his credit will be. Since if you read that cracked article, it says that Bob Kane's contract (the one that gave him the credit) says that he would be the only one getting credit as the creator of Batman. I wonder if it will be a "developed by" credit or something like that. 1 Link to comment
