I loved when Stephen pulled up that board listing all the other investigations still ongoing. Yeah. We're not even close to being done with all this craziness yet, so I hope people keep that in mind going forward, too.

Yes, who knew that a simple list on a white board could be so affirming? Or that another list on its flip side could be even moreso?

My bafflement over hearing on the news the restating of a fact as its negative was similarly soothed by Stephen giving the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" analogy.

Oh, Stephen. NOTHING will ever be as bad as the ending to Lost.* Although The Black Tapes came close.

But thanks so much for the reminder of all the other reasons Trump is a horrible president and all the other investigations. Go, SDNY & NY Attorney General!

*Still miss Ben.❤️

That board was the perfect ending to his monologue.

All Trump's cronies are celebrating right now but seem to have forgotten about all the other investigations going on.

I've never seen Lost, so the analogy was lost --so to speak-- on me.

But it was tremendously comforting to see the whiteboard.  I couldn't even watch any of my usual political shows yesterday, I was so aggravated.  Needed Stephen to help bring everything back into perspective.  And it was so right to have Elizabeth Warren on next to bring the focus back to the electoral process.

And now we know Stephen is worth less than $50 million.  Hee.

Yes. I was even aggravated with the NY Times. Stephen is my alternate therapist.

I’m glad Stephen mentioned Sarah Sanders’ “Mueller Madness” tweet and turned it into something hilarious, but it angers me because there’s no bottom with this administration. Luckily she’s getting torn to shreds in the comments section under the tweet so I haven’t lost all my faith in humanity. Sarah blathers on about unifying the country yet tweets trash like this from her official Press Secretary account.

Thank you, Stephen, for that hilarious segment on that Brexit psychic*. That was sorely needed after the rage-inducing discussion about Trump and Obamacare.

(Also very heartened to hear about all the protesters and the petition. If that does wind up leading to a good outcome for this whole Brexit mess, can we get that general positive upswing to spread to other parts of the world as well? One can hope...)

That's very good to hear, indeed. Like Stephen said, some real cojones on this administration, mocking others for "lying".

*I also got a good laugh out of Stephen's "I dunno" summary of the Smollett case. Pretty much sums up my thoughts on that, too-speaking of messy situations...

Oh, my god, the segment on Senator Lee. That was hilarious. Seriously, what in the ever-loving hell...?

I'm glad my neighbor is out of town, because the volume of my "Wha-a-at?!!?!!!" might have disturbed her.

When he pulled out the ton-ton(?) picture and then Aquaman, I thought he might've been being sarcastic. Because otherwise, we'll need to have a cage match between him, Nunes, King, and Gohmert for the "WTF is wrong with you" championship.

When Stephen set up his joke about American babies, “Better educated? Have you seen—“ I thought for sure the punchline was going to be “Betsy De Vos's budget.” Truly a news night with too many choices. (I loved “woman appalled you christened your yacht with domestic champagne.” So appropriate for her.)

Same. My mom said something to that effect. "How can they be better educated when we're cutting all this funding for education?"

Steve King was the first person who popped into my mind when Stephen was calling Lee an embarrassment. Course, then again, he might fall more into the "straight up horror show" category, so...

Put it on pay per view, with Colbert as the ringmaster. I'd watch that.

Nathan Lane was the voice of Timon, one of my favorite Disney characters, so for that alone I'll always love the guy :D. Seriously, though, yes, he's just all-around awesome.

Also, I should check out that "Queer Eye" show sometime. The guys seem quite fun.

Titus Andronicus is generally considered Shakespeare's worst play.  The primary female character is a snuff fantasy--raped, tongue cut out, hands cut off, and dies in the end.  I couldn't imagine a sequel, funny or otherwise, but Nathan Lane's description sounds wonderfully crazy.

Any discussion that includes the words "meow meow," I'm all in.

I wish Bravo or somebody would show reruns of the old Queer Eye.

So of course they're there on the night Stephen has to wear the ugly-ass tie.

Stephen running his fingers through that guy's hair brought back nasty memories of Jimmy Fallon....no, I won't go there.

You need to watch Legends of Tomorrow's Season 4 mid-season finale episode, "Legends of To-meow-meow". Yes, it has a cat. And time travel. And gay kisses. And an Airwolf spoof. Oh - and puppets.

Last night's monologue was hil-a-ri-ous

"Also, noise does not cause cancer. Although I believe listening to Donald Trump might cause brain damage" 🤣

I absolutely love Stacey Abrams. I really think she would've been a wonderful governor of my state...

Maybe she can do better than that?

I was cringing a bit at the windmills bit because there is some evidence in them harming birds and potentially decreasing property values of nearby residences (as my formerly anti-vaxxer niece has posted). I wish the jokes could have followed more of a "yes, but . . ." structure, addressing the OTT-ness of the Drumpf's assertions, like maybe making the joke about the comparison of windmill bird deaths to cat-caused bird deaths.

If Stacey Abrams ever decides to run for president, I would happily vote for her. It's beyond maddening that she can't be governor no matter how the investigation into the voter suppression efforts shakes out, but I hope that her fight will ultimately prove helpful and bring the right kind of change for future elections.

On a happier note, I love that she has a past as a romance novelist :D. That's fantastic.

Fun interview with John Lithgow, too. Just a good show all around last night.

So, how many people have announced running for President on the show so far? I've lost count.

So far two, Kirsten Gillibrand and Eric Swalwell, according to this article.

Masters Golf Tournament highlights which start at the time Colbert would that last for over 20 minutes apparently.

Colbert has hosted Star Wars Episode IX panel earlier today. The event was held in Chicago (the video is here, if anyone is interested, but you should skip to 19 minutes mark, when the event actually starts).

And on Sunday he will be in London to moderate Becoming: An Intimate Conversation With Michelle Obama in promotion of her memoir, Becoming Michelle Obama. As a result, Monday's show will be rerun.

Edit: Actually, Monday's show will not be rerun. From CBS Press Express, the guest are: Molly Shannon; Gary Cole; musical performance by Paul Simon; Flipped interview with Trevor Noah.

Same here! I'm glad I didn't fall asleep early last night, it's a joy watching them together. I'd love to see Stephen interview Trevor on Trevor's show.

I liked it, too. They had a good back and forth going.

(Also, looking it up, I just found out Trevor's my age. Neat.)

And it was a repeat segment, but I enjoyed seeing that "Meanwhile" bit again, because Stephen's reaction to that 5D porn theater cracked me up so much. "Finally, something for those people who watch porn and think, 'Hmmm, I'd like to smell that!'."

When Trevor asks Stephen if he goes out and Stephen counters by asking him if he has kids and how old he is... pretty funny! I’m closer to Trevor’s age and I’m not having nearly as much as fun as him, lol.

30+ years ago I would sing the line from the Paul Simon song (The Only Living Boy in New York), "I get all the news I need from the weather report" as I actually listened only to the weather report.

Sadly(?) now I sing it, "I get all the news I need from the Colbert Report" (aka The Late Show With Stephen Colbert monologue).
