I don't believe Simon on this one. For one, Farrah doesn't have any friends. And Kristen "didn't allow them to be around." Yeah ok, just doesn't jive with me.

Didn't Farrah accuse Tyler of being gay, and she was most certainly being insulting imo.

I thought when it came to LGBTQ that was off limits for attacking (physically or verbally) and mocking.  To me, it seems homophobic no matter the reason and/or circumstances.

In this context, Farrah is speculating that Tyler is gay amidst a slew of put downs to others.  I thought insulting on the basis of LGBTQ was off limits.

I don't believe much of what Farrah says...given her history of lies to damage others.  Falsely accusing someone of rape is a big hurdle to get past.

Really though, all of these people are a bunch of bottom of the barrel scrapers.  They all mock and attack each other constantly so trying to defend any of them is pointless.

I know for me if someone was being mean and insulting me, that person's race and/or sexuality would be off limits for me to hurl back at them.  I can't control other people; I only can control myself.

I'm certainly not a lawyer and I have very limited experience dealing with lawsuits and such.  But the two times I have had to deal with shit like that, none of it was how I expected it to be or thought it would be.  What I did learn was that a contract is more often than not weighted in the favor of the drafter.

Even if Farrah wins this lawsuit and gets the full $5m, it seems she has tainted herself.  This could even damage her porn prospects.  Who would want to deal with "talent" that files lawsuits?

I'm not jumping on the producer Kristen "homophobic" witch hunt.  That's just too easy these days to throw out bullshit like that against "an enemy" and have people automatically jump on it without any proof except the accusation and people immediately start ripping the accused apart.  It is the modern day version of the Salem Witch Trials and personally, I've had enough of it.  It is a slippery slope that people really need to stop and consider because it is too easy to use against anyone and it leaves everyone vulnerable to such an unfair attack.

AND the cherry on top is that Farrah has made snide, sneery twitter posts about Tyler's alleged sexuality, but no one seems to mind.  That's really not cool of Farrah, at all.  Where is the outrage on that?

I agree with this (all of it).

But imagine if this actually went to trial. Viacom’s high-priced lawyers would tear her to shreds on cross-examination. Even if you like Farrah - I think we all have to agree she’s somewhat delusional (using “somewhat” loosely) and IMO her “I’m a huge celebrity and very successful entrepreneur” personality combined with her word salad won’t be impressing any jurors.

She reminds me of a guy who used to run the office (we were a satellite) of a decent size institutional RE development/investment firm I used to work for. Luckily I didn’t have to deal with him that much (until I did). My co-worker though was heavily involved in the development arm and had to sit in a ton of meetings with him. Along with his notes he would write down all the words he thought didn’t exist (he has a dual law/business degree from Harvard) and 9 times out of 10 he was right.

Difference between Mr. Word Salad (MWS) and Farrah is that MWS was actually pretty intelligent and very well-educated. He was also somewhat delusional. But he was very good at sucking up to the right people. Lesson for Farrah - don’t call your boss white trash.

MWS is no longer BTW! You also need to be good at what you do if you’re going to be an asshole. My scribe above has been running the office for about six years and it’s back to being successful.

I'm not sure what you mean by "weighted," but the general rule of contract construction is that if there are ambiguous terms in a contract, they are construed against the drafter.  (Unambiguous terms don't need construing at all--they are what they are.)

Yep.  And, I’m sure her contract probably has a provision regarding where lawsuits can be filed, and it’s probably not where she lives.  Although that could work in her favor, it’s probably NY or CA where a jury would be more sympathetic to these allegations (coughBScough) than Texas.  Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if the contract says they have to go to mediation or arbitration of disputes not court.

That's a good point.  Certainly what's good enough for cell phone providers is good enough for reality TV contracts.  I would love to see one of these people's contracts.

I'm just sad that she lived in Austin and therefore filed suit in the Western District.  If she'd lived in Dallas, it would have been in the Northern District, where Bachelorette Rachel's father is a district judge, setting the stage for a nice collision of reality TV worlds in very staid federal court.

I think Farrah made a very bad decision filing this lawsuit.  Even if she wins, she will lose because very few will want to work with her now that it is known she will file lawsuits.  This could even hurt her other non-entertainment industry businesses.  I'm also wondering why MTV didn't just ride out her contract.  Speculation ~ they did this to drum up drama and interest in the show?

I do hope we get to see her Teen Mom contract!  For years, we have speculated on the various contracts so to actually see one would be a major plus!

Except for Chelsea, the rest are all guilty of crossing the lines.

What you and I would do in the same situation is not always how others may handle it.

As for your comment, when it comes to LGBTQ that is off-limits. Off-limits to who? The cast? MTV? Or are you saying in general people should never enter the territory of going after someone and imply or insinuate they are gay whether it is true or not?

Farrah wasn't the first, and she won't be the last, to insinuate, imply, or directly call out Tyler as one who is hiding in the closet. That rumor has been around long before Farrah ever made such a statement. She may have heard or been told by a crew member that he is a closeted gay. Plenty of gossip makes the rounds on that set and it eventually reaches the gossip sites. Rumors of Leah's drug use was running rampant way before it was divulged. To this day, Leah still has never admitted she was a drug addict. She was merely in rehab for "stress and anxiety."

Oh god, I hate that I’ve been in the position to defend Farrah so much lately... but this is something that has been bothering me...  “Word salad”.

Farrah speech is not word salad. She has some sort of articulation or phonological speech disorder or processing disorder because she is adding or subtracting sounds from a single word (or replacing with homonyms) but the rest of the statement is intact.  When she becomes angry, the errors are more pronounced.

Not only that, but lawsuits based on her belief that a crew member's actions were based on her failure to meet his "gender stereotypes of how women should act and appear."

And maybe only "very few" will want to work with her, but I think there will be enough bottom feeders who will be eager enough to make a buck that they don't worry about possible lawsuits.  Hell--they'll probably be judgment proof anyway.  Unlike Viacom.  It's always good to have a deep pocket to hold responsible.

I agree. My brain surgery did a lot to help some of the neurological issues I was having but one thing that's gotten worse is my word-usage ability. I will be thinking the word "grape", for instance, and then write or say "spoon." It makes zero sense. I also have trouble finding the right word and constantly have to ask my husband, "What's the word that means  ___" (And sometimes I am unable to articulate THOSE words, which makes it even more frustrating.) Considering I make my living as an author and literally support my family on my book royalties, this is a really scary problem to have and since my condition is progressive, I am afraid that it will continue to get worse. Word salad is a bunch of random words strung together that make little sense. Farrah knows what she wants to say but, like you said, something is off in the processing part so either the wrong word comes out or it comes out in a way that defies our modern dictionary.

Good example of word salad from Lark Vorhees ("Lisa" on SAVED BY THE BELL):

Hey COC - I don’t envy you the position of defending Farrah. Kudos to all of you!

IMO though - she’s the definition of “word salad”. I’ve read her websites (cause I’m a sad lonely person with nothing else to do). She had plenty of time to fix that.

Jenelle needs a good PR person and Farrah needs an editor. Too bad they’re both to narcissistic to realize it.

Oh gawd, Farrah. Why can’t you just be cool?!

So, Mowgli Monroe is legally required to have a set teacher when they film in California.  Typical Farrah has a problem with the teacher and fires her. Production needs to arrange for a replacement before they can resume filming.  It seems like they’ve been waiting two hours?  I’m not in the industry — I wonder how long it takes a replace a set teacher?

I speculate that the set teacher requirement is the real reason Farrah was fired from the series. Farrah and her poor impulse control will just keep firing teachers (or they’ll leave if mistreated). Production and Network puts themselves at risk for very hefty fines if they violate California labor laws.  I believe Farrah and her daughter are in California more now, so they need for a teacher would be consistent.

I thought Sophia was homeschooled?

Didn't we have a discussion last year about this whole child law pertaining to reality shows?

The cast members are independent contractors. They are not SAG members. I remember collecting some information about all of this and I know others did as well. I can't remember the details.

In California, it must not matter if she’s homeschooled.  It doesn’t matter if they’re Union either. If a child is being a filmed, a set teacher is required.  It’s clear from this clip that production halted once Farrah fired the teacher and that they cannot proceed until another teacher is secured.

She sold her TX house (finally) in Nov. 2017.  Did they move to CA?  I remember when we discussed child filming law last year. Sophia may now be a CA resident - the only child on this exploitative series to be in CA, the state with the most solid and enforced child labor laws.

OT: My mom was hired to be a set teacher back in the 1990s. She wound up taking another job instead but, during the process, one of the hiring officials in Los Angeles said to her, "I'd think long and hard about accepting this position. Most people don't last very long, it has a higher turnover rate than any of the other jurisdictions. The kids are brats and hard to get along with and the parents are worse."

And this was the person trying to fill the position.

I think Michael is trying to imply Farrah sold a certain amount of units of her book. To be a NYT best seller, one only needs to sell a certain amount. Someone posted the information on the Kail thread when I asked that question. I think Michael is trying to say  Farrah sold five times that amount. Just my guess.

ok I apologize but I'm way behind.  Has Farrah been fired from Teen MoM?  I saw her insulting the producer out of her car window.  What kind of law suit would SHE be filing or is this just more Farrah drama?

Also I see she's doing adult web something or other.  What's with that?  More Porn?

Yeah, I think the short version of being a best seller is how many books are ordered.  It doesn't matter if they are bought and paid for, given away, or land in the dollar bin at discount stores.  All the books you see given free to audience members on talk shows, they count towards the best seller stats.

Thanks for the info.

With so many people having their phones hacked, I find it horrifying that any parent would have topless photos of their child on their phone. Those kind of images can fall into the wrong hands. That is unforgiveable.

I think it depends on the context. For example, having photos of one's infant as they are being bathed or a toddler who might be walking around with their diaper falling off or without their diaper and the parent found it funny and took a photo. My parents took a photo of me when I was one years old in my backyard. I had just taken off my shorts and diaper and stood in my mother's garden of flowers. She took the photo of me as I stood there taking off the pedals from her daisies. Sophia is nine years old. That shit is just wrong.

@AirQuotes Farrah gave the interview. Whether it is true or not, she is still admitting to it being the case. Let's assume it is not true and that Farrah is just saying it to draw attention to herself, it is still a horrible thing to put out there. Shady people might try and steal those phones or hack them thinking they will acquire child porn. Just putting out there that her child is running around nude in the house is bad enough.

As for her commenting about Kim Kardashian allowing her child to take photos of her topless....WTF is wrong with these bitches?

Don't forget, in one of books she talks about Daddy Derrick sneaking in and the amazing sex they had.  And Michael catching them and trying to beat his ass while chasing him out of the house.  Perfect reading to go with naked pictures and "sexy" tv shows.  *sigh*

I liked defending Farrah's crazy ass when it kind of became clearer why the nut didn't fall from them the tree.  I got nothing but disgust for this, though.  No 9 year old should think taking naked pictures is normal or ok.  No parent should do it, much less talk about it on TMZ.  That's like inviting predators to violate your child with a big, neon light pointing to the goods.  This is just horrible.  All of it.

Right @CofCinci. Generally, when one files a lawsuit, the numbers will always be higher than what you are truly seeking. The idea is to go very high in the hopes that if you win your lawsuit, the judge or jury will then proceed to give you less than what you asked for in your documents, but you were really hoping to come away with the figure that the judge or jury does hand out.
