My DVR cut off, did Terra answer Joe's question?  I think Joe is into this baby but not Terra.  Terra is just a vessel for a child that he is now excited about.  Terra seems to have matured (ha!) or maybe she is just more down-to-earth without the other girls there.

Wondering what it means when a baby has pseudo-achon and achon. Does that mean it's just a super small achon? Are you familiar with that LIGirl?

It don't believe it means that the child is "a super small achon", but to be honest, I'm not 100% sure because I didn't even know that a person could have two different forms of dwarfism.  I did know that if two people were both dwarves, it didn't matter what type each of them had - the child runs the risk of being double dominant, period, and not likely to survive.  I thought that was extremely common knowledge to little people, which was why I was very surprised Terra and Joe didn't know that and instead, assumed they didn't run that risk at all just because they had two different types.

My DVR cut off, did Terra answer Joe's question?

Terra said something like she had a big question for him before she answered his proposal.

Thank you.  I won't be requesting because you have to come up with subgroups and titles - I'm not that interested.  Lol.

I wonder if we can just create a subthread in this show's forum because I don't think Terra and Joe's little family show is going to be a permanent spinoff, so there's no need to create a totally separate forum.  I can do that here and I guess if the mods think it does need a totally separate forum, then they can create one.

I hear ya  RedHeadZombie. There are so many shows that I want to talk about but am not interested in having to come up with subgroups and titles just to be able to,

There are a lot of shows that are not being talked about on this forum.

I figured I'd start a subtopic about Terra's "spinoff" here because I don't believe it's an official or permanent spinoff that requires its own entirely separate show thread.  If the moderators feel otherwise, feel free to move it into its own show's thread.

I didn't get to see tonight's episodes yet, but I wanted to comment on last week's.  I've never been pregnant, but have obviously heard about pregnant women having really bizarre cravings, but SweeTARTS in peanut butter?  Really, Terra?  I thought morning sickness was bad enough; shouldn't you want to avoid puking if you can help it?

I don't think Terra expected her mother to drop all of her obligations just because she was having a baby.  I think like many daughters, she wanted her mother to be there to not only see her first grandchild be born, but to help her with normal first time mother nerves.  I can't exactly fault or hate on Terra for that.  If I decided to have children, I am pretty sure I'd want at least my aunt (who was like a mother to me) be there.

I really felt for Terra, and was annoyed by the doctors waffling on the spinal block, if thats really something that she discussed in her previous appointments having, why would they come in to prep her for an epidural, and not give an in depth explanation as to why plans changed? Im hoping it wad just a poor edit, but I feel like she was slightly (their favorite word) bullied out of her desired birthing experience. I also have not been a fan of Dr. Jick, with such special care needs Joe and Terra probably shouldve been seeing a perinatologist with experience in Little People moms and babies. Dr. Jick comes off a little quackish, like Elena's butt doctor. Im hoping that Dr. Jick was just their on the show doctor and that Terra was seeing a specialist, but its Terra so... yeah. Random tangent, but isnt Briana's ex husband and father of their daughter a little person? IIRC, he has pseudoachondroplasia like Joe. I wonder why Terra really never spoke to Briana about things, I know theyre fairweather friends but she's alot closer than the couple in the UK with the son with both Achondroplasia and Pseudoachondroplasia... I was thinking that in terms of the baby seat and crib advice, but Briana would be a good source of info for them in all arenas, having given birth most recently out of their group, with the most similar circumstances.

And oh how I rolled my eyes at Tracy and Tanya suggesting Sapphire and Jade. Total producer set up, as conservative as Tracy is, she would never choose the name Sapphire for a pet fish, let alone a child. I also rolled my eyes at Joe, who was doing so good at hiding his douchebag until Terra asked the golden question, if he would still marry her if she wasnt pregnant. That quick snap of "why does it matter" is vintage Joe, douchebag who hits on other women while blatantly dissing his girlfriend (now fiance). Theyve gone overtime giving him the nice guy edit, but its rather curious to me that the vast majority of his nice guy moments have everything to do with little miss Penelope Charlevoix and nothing to actually do with Terra as a woman. Very rarely does he interact with Terra face to face, its more face to belly than anything. He constantly rubs and speaks to her belly. And the only reasons hes been coming to her defense in fights is to keep her stress levels down and his daughters security and safety up.

I hope they have a long engagement until Penelope is 1, to make sure this is what they want.

Well - being Terra is not one of my favorite Little People and I abhor Joe - I'm reading the boards to see if anything you say would change my  mind about not watching it. I think if the producers had given Terra a better edit or not made her so "it's all about her" in season 2 - I may have watched this show just to see her, but you can't change a person's perception in the last 2 episodes of the season before their new show premieres and I find no redeeming qualities in Joe at all.  So was the baby healthy and what type of dwarfism does it have?

Link to comment

I don't know how much more with this show I can handle. It's getting more drawn out than a televised Duggar wedding. We know. We know you can't believe it's going to be -x- amount of time until you meet your daughter. I can't stand Joe, he's so damn smug and saying all the right things to look like a protective daddy. And it got on my nerves on LW:LA, but her voice while she cries drives me crazy. It goes into super high mode with no plans to come down. She was doing it way too much this episode.

Tara is acting like she's the only woman to ever give birth. And that whole business with the car seat? Get on the computer and research car seats! Go in that store and tell them what you need! Sure, they are there to help you with key points, opinions, etc. but never trust what someone else says when it comes to your child. I didn't like the way Joe was publicly (the show) shaming the baby store employee. Bottom line, you have to watch out for yourself and your family.

I'll continue watching as long as it's the baby now. I'm over Terra's pregnancy.

So was the baby healthy and what type of dwarfism does it have?

I haven't heard any "official announcement" regarding the type of dwarfism the baby has (perhaps they're waiting to reveal it on this spinoff), but as far as I know, the baby was born healthy.  I personally think, from the picture I've seen, the baby looks like she at least has achondroplasia.

I must be the only one who doesn't have a strong hate/distaste towards Terra or Joe, especially in this spinoff.  Sure, Terra was a shit stirring and, at times, hypocritical bitch on LW: LA, but I don't know, I can deal with her.  I do think Joe is sincerely into being a father and husband and isn't just putting on a front for the cameras.  But I'm not willing to put any money down to say that they'll all be living happily ever after until they die, of course.  I guess, overall, I take this show with a huge grain of salt like so many of the other "reality" shows out there, and I think that there are far worse and more hateful "reality stars" than Terra or Joe.

I am surprisingly liking Terra and Joe in this version of the show. They are actually normal people instead of foul mouthed smug jerks.

I feel like Joe is acting a little fakey for the cameras.

Agree. But I thought this episode with the birth was very moving. Baby Penny is so cute! I'm glad she's healthy. I didn't look at Terra and Joe as two people playing it up for the cameras on this episode. They were just new parents worried about their baby and struggling with all the issues like no sleep, C-Section pain, no help from family and problems with the baby not wanting to breast feed.

Seeing some of the problems little people have taking care of a baby was something I'd never seen before on other little people reality shows.

I felt sorry for Terra crying because she was overwhelmed and probably having post Partum depression. She was acting real instead of acting snarky and talking smack like she does in her TH interviews on LWLA.

I don't know much about either one of these people, but  caught a little last night.  Why was the mother, who just left the hospital, pulling on and moving a crib, while the dad stood there holding the baby?  I'm confused.

They also had some legit questions.  Like how are they ever going to go anywhere alone with the baby since they are not able to handle a stroller by themselves?

Edited by SunnyBeBe

^^^the dad Joe has more of a disability because of his size. That's why Terra had to move the crib around.

I'm guessing they are maybe going to have to have help from friends or family if they go anywhere with the baby?

Haha, I laughed because the original tweet is funny.  It wasn't "disgusting", Lila.  I still can't hop onto her bandwagon, though; the crazy she exhibits freaks me out a bit.

That tweet was hilarious to me too, if she wasn't in her feelings about it she wouldn't have even responded; the young lady didn't even @ her or hashtag her name. She was obviously looking through the Terra's Little Family tag. I thought she was playing up her issues for tv, but now i'm not so sure.

I think Terra was probably not allowed to carry Penny yet even though she can pick her up out

of the bassinet. I don't know why Joe didnt put the baby in a carrier and then help Terra.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing myself: why didn't Terra sit and hold Penny while Joe somehow maneuvered the bassinet into the bedroom?  But I'm going to chalk it up to it both of them being overtired and not thinking clearly, as well as the fact that they are literally trying to figure out every move with the baby minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.  They'll get the hang of it.

P.S. I am about 90% sure I am not going to have kids, but if I do, it's nice to know a crib like the one they had made exists!  Although I would slightly alter the design a bit, overall, something like that would totally make things easier on me.

I liked this episode because it seemed real and humanized T & J. I could relate to the sleep deprivation and general exhaustion. However, I almost had to cover my eyes when Terra carried Penny down the step stool while wearing flip flops. That could have gone badly. At least they decided not to bathe her in the kitchen sink any more. I really hope.

I watched some of the Little Women LA show, but didn't care enough to watch this spinoff.  While watching Lifetime today (for Frasier), there was a commercial and I heard the name Penny!  I had to gasp.  She stole my baby name (a la Charlotte on SATC).  I am 5 months along now, and that it the name we had picked out.     DOn't know how to feel about that...  How did they come about with the name?

Joe wanted the named Penelope; I don't think he had any particular reason other than that he thought it was cute.  Terra liked and wanted Charlevoix (hence, "Charlie") because it was a town that she would vacation in with her family growing up, but she let Joe have the first name and she settled on letting her pick be the middle name.

I just read that Penelope is getting trendy, and predicted to be a very popular name.

This is just my opinion and I hope that I have allowed to voice it. I think that is was completely selfish of Terra and Joe to purposely have a child knowing that it would be born with dwarfism. It's one thing to be average height parents and something goes wrong genetically but they knew that the child would be born with dwarfism.

That child will always be 'different' and she will know it.

I had this show on last night but wasn't really watching it. I did see the part at the end where Terra and Joe take baby Penny to the doctor to find out what kind of dwarfism she has. I missed the answer from the Doctor, she said positive but what did that mean?

From the previews, it looks like that won't be revealed until next week.

Terra and Joe by themselves are actually adults with love for their baby. But. The previews for next week bring them back to jerks. Christy doesn't start any more/ less drama than they do.

I don't follow the Kardashians, so I had no idea!   Lol @ Naveah, I have a cousin named that.   I wanted Calliope, but there was no way in hell my husband would let me do that!

I despised Terra and Joe before the baby.  I think Penny has really made them vulnerable, and I find them much more likable with her.  I know some may find it disgusting, but I thought it was sweet that Joe was eating dinner with the cat sitting on the chair with him.  The cat was minding it's manners, but it clearly likes him.  My only criticism was when Joe took out Penny alone.  She was in her car seat and her bottle was propped!  Huge choking hazard for a two week old.  If he heard her choking, he would have to pull over, and try to climb back there to help her.  I imagine that would take several minutes, and it could be too late by then.

So, um, do the producers seriously think we're all so stupid that we don't own a calendar or know how to tell time?  Why the hell would they fake the Mother's Day thing when Mother's Day hasn't even happened yet?!  If they wanted to have Joe pamper Terra and give her gifts, then do something more believable.  I've never had a kid, but isn't there some new bullshit thing where some men give the women a "push present" after they have the baby?  I could see Terra asking for a "push present" (afterall, she did the whole "sip and see" bullshit - hello, watch Phaedra on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" much, Terra?), so even that would've had me roll my eyes just a little less than outright faking a holiday.

*sigh* I was liking this show until Joe and Terra had to turn ugly like they were on LWLA and throw shade at Kristy and trashed her card and baby gift. I thought that was immature.

Agree with LIGirl about stealing the sip and see idea from Phaedra on Real Housewives Atlanta and the fake Mothers Day celebration. They had to have filmed this in...what? February or March? They could have at least ran this episode next week AFTER the real time Mothers Day.

The baby is beautiful from the pics I've seen but I still haven't watched the show. They're pushing it big time in the UK so she must have fans there. I hadn't seen the episodes they do after the show where they interview the cast and thought I'd watch that yesterday. I couldn't even get through the previews with the way Tonya, Terra and Joe acted - no way I could watch this - even if it does show them in a different light.

Anybody notice how Terra is the one initiating the affection between the two-reaching over for a kiss first. They sure don't seem to be getting along- like they try to make it playful banter but deep down it feels like much more u know?

I started watching this show midway through the 2nd season of LW:LA. What's the history w these two?? Joe doesn't seem to truly love Terra...

So Joe & Terra have a stun gun for protection- that's all fine & good but to me................

They just advertised to the world that they are an unarmed little couple. Prime targets for the scum of the earth. I worry for them - someone could easily overpower them & take that stun gun.

I honestly don't want to get into a gun debate, but in my eyes ......the benefits outweigh the risks in their case.

I think little Penelope makes her parents more likeable, so I was disappointed when they started trashing Christy's gift and the note.  That was rude, mean, nasty and unnecessary.

Not sure. I don't think they showed it. She wrote a nice note in the card but only addressed Terra so Joe threw it in the garbage.

I did feel sorry for Terra because her mother obviously has issues. When you put your dogs before your child and grandchild there's something wrong there.

I'm pretty sure she had at least a little outfit in the giftbag. I remember Terra pulling out a fluffy skirt, which I think was attached to a shirt or something.

Terra's mom reminded me of one of those people you'd see featured on an episode of "Hoarders." She looks like someone who went through something incredibly "traumatic" and, instead of letting shit pile up around her or "collecting" dead animals in her freezer, she now she copes with (or avoids coping with) the trauma by focusing all of her energy into her dogs. I'm not saying her mom experienced some severe trauma; I'm just saying that she appears to be unstable in a major way. Dogs are surely loving family, too, but it is very sad that she cannot put her own immediate human family before them long enough for a day or two.  Terra already has a number of dogs; I really hope she doesn't end up like her mom by the time Penny is 21.

Throughout this spin-off, I couldn't help but wonder if Christy seethed through each episode because Terra beat her to the punch in having a baby and Christy thought if she had been first (although technically, she already has two other kids, I believe), she could've had her own spinoff with Todd instead, ha.

I don't think we've seen enough of nor got the entire story on Terra's Mom. The editing monkeys may have been at work.

First off I saw Karolyn (T's Mom) be attentive & loving towards Penny. Then she celebrated her 1 month birthday with them, made a video, took pics, told them all she loved them & then went off to her chosen life. We did not see how long she spent with them .... It could've been all day for all we know. I wonder how far her home was from Bournes? Why didn't they have her stop by the next day for breakfast to say good bye? Anyways I don't see a problem with someone continuing on with their life after their children have children .... Not everyone is all hellbent on being a Grandmother......it's not like she dismissed them.

As for the wedding, I understand her reluctant acne to travel with her responsibilities- T CHOSE to move away to LA & get married .....BESIDES Karolyn did say "WE WILL Figure it out"

Again I just have a feeling Karolyn was an editing victim. Who knows ?

ETA; another thing that makes me give T the side eye is she seems kinda needy about wanting "help/family". Nothing wrong with family coming to help ( which they did) but what happened to the saying " you make 'em, you take 'em". She's YOUR KID!

You're absolutely right, jymnph. Terra's mom very well could have been a "victim of editing."  Despite how she came across and how she appears, I do remember thinking that she seemed very loving towards Penny.  She's quirky for sure, but the depth of any possible mental instability cannot be known simply from that episode.

However, I do think there is something amiss there largely based on the fact that Terra seemed very hurt and like she's been through this before with her mom putting the dogs before her. Perhaps Terra was always able to brush it aside because maybe her mom didn't feel the need to visit her for a big show or something (totally understandable), but with this, this is her only daughter's first child and wedding.  You can't really say, "Oh, I'm just so busy, I'll go to that the next time."  Her mom also doesn't exactly look like the pinnacle of health, and I think Terra knows (as she pointed out about her grandfather's death) that you just don't know how much time she has left to celebrate these milestones and even the occasional daily moments.  Never giving herself a break taking care of multiple dogs or entrusting someone else to help will surely wear her down very quickly, too.  I wouldn't expect every parent to be jumping up and down for joy over being a grandparent, but I don't think having her mother come out to meet the baby or attend their wedding is asking for very much.  Ah, well.
