teapot February 22, 2018 Share February 22, 2018 Shouldn't Amber have been expecting a call from her ONLY CHILD ON HER BIRTHDAY????? I'd die a thousand times before I said *anything* about my sex life to my boy-child. Poor Gary, his mom & Amber are kind of the same person...he has to chase them to get barely anything back. Thank God he has Kristina! I really hope Leah comes out of this okay. She's such an awesome big sister!! 13 Link to comment

Lusterleaf February 22, 2018 Share February 22, 2018 I love Gary & Kristina, wish they would have showed more of them. Also the only thing I wish is that Gary would pay more attention to his health. He should really try to lose weight & get healthier for the sake of his family. 10 Link to comment
AdorkableWitch February 24, 2018 Share February 24, 2018 I am going to speculate but I think Gary likely has some form of Binge Eating Disorder. It's not just a matter of losing weight, but dealing with life without relying on food as your way to numb out and escape. 7 Link to comment
TheRealT February 24, 2018 Share February 24, 2018 I really enjoyed this and would rather see a regular series of Being Gary, maybe in a 30-minute format, than Amber's portion of Teen Mom. Amber could be the secondary/tertiary character "Leah's Biological Mother," making a brief appearance once or twice a season while the rest of the show focused on Gary, Kristina, and the rest of Leah's real family. I think Gary has enough real/non-completely toxic and insane family drama to make the show interesting and he and his family also bring a lot of positive/normal/healthy appeal, versus Amber, whose entertainment value is 100% based in how insane and toxic she and her close associates are. 9 Link to comment
mamadrama February 24, 2018 Share February 24, 2018 Gary's mom is a seriously weird piece of work. If the non-sex is such an issue then why does she continue to live with/sleep with/basically date the guy? Just cut him loose and find someone else. 15 Link to comment

I suspect he's also an emotional eater, and considering Leah's egg donor is in his life, which is a shit storm in itself, he probably numbs himself from having to remind Amber to pay child support & talk to Leah on her birthday along with his issues with his batty mother . Whether or not he's even aware of it, I haven't the foggiest. As down to earth as he is, he (sadly) strikes me as an "I don't need to go to therapy" person. I could be wrong though; skipped the show for a few seasons, so maybe he's tried it and had a bad experience? I really hope he didn't Skype with Kathleen the Wannabe Therapist! That would turn anyone off from ever going to therapy. However, finding a good therapist is like finding the perfect pair of jeans or bathing suit: you have to expend lots of energy on finding the best one for you! Ironically, he's one of the most mature, focused and present parents on the show, which makes me think that he'd be open to therapy. With the right tools, he's be able to deal with life and continue on with HIS awesome little family. 7 Link to comment

ReadMeLattice March 2, 2018 Share March 2, 2018 Damn, that was a backwards mess. Gary's a good guy but really needs to get a handle on the weight. He also could push his mom's buttons less, it's a bit much. His mom & dad are both cheating/cray pieces of work. I can't believe I heard that much about their sex life...?!?!?! How TF are they both comfortable with that? The deadbeat egg donor doesn't need to be discussed. 6 Link to comment

Better yet, how about referring to her as the person who pushed her outta her VAGINA! as she so eloquently told Baby Huey when describing how she gave birth to her daughter. 5 Link to comment
guilfoyleatpp March 5, 2018 Share March 5, 2018 I finally watched this. It's easy to see why Gary dated Amber. They're the same person. I don't get why Gary wouldn't just knock it the fuck off with the teasing her about Jody. There's something else there that neither of them wanted to say...which is weird because they were clearly willing to talk about the mom's sex life. 6 Link to comment

Gary's sarcasm/ribbing can be annoying/inappropriate, but I think it's his way of dealing with emotionally uncomfortable situations. It's not really malicious, though he may use "humor" to express some negative emotions in a passive-aggressive manner. Amber, on the other hand, is malicious and abusive. I assume that anyone who watches the show is aware of the innumerable examples of that, so I won't bother to list them. Also, we have seen that Gary is capable of positive/loving/appropriate relationships with his wife and kids, even if he still injects some sarcastic humor into those relationships (even with baby Emilee). I'm sure that Kristina, Leah, and Emilee have no doubt that Gary loves them and would do anything for them (based on his actions 99% of the time), though his words may sting sometimes. He's more sharp with people with whom he has difficult relationships (like his mom). That actually makes me even more impressed with the way he's handled Amber, with whom he has a difficult relationship, but whom he has treated really well most of the time, even when she's being a raging asshole. He knows that Amber is very volatile and will fly off the handle if he makes the wrong comment, so he mostly holds his tongue with her, which, obviously, takes some effort for him. Amber, in contrast, never moderates her behavior for anyone, even if that behavior is screaming, trying to assault people, cussing people out, etc. 7 Link to comment

I remember once he told Leah something about the birds and the bees and "your mama taught me all that" (*chuckle chuckle wink wink*) and Kristina looked so awkward. He can be really inappropriate, but seeing his mom and dad, I'm definitely not surprised anymore. I really think he should knock it off with the teasing. It gets old FAST. He's matured immensely in many other ways, time to grow up there too. 6 Link to comment
