Good gosh I hope Carl goes home and doesn't win.  The guy is obnoxious and I don't find him all that great at all.  I find him a bud of Guy to wins these games.  Sorry.  His judging is off - always always salt and he loves to ge the higher end chefs and knock them down.  It's his pattern.  He should have gone home early is this latest competition because he didn't follow the rules..  I stopped watching the show for a while because of him.  I came back and here is again.  I honestly think he doesn't not have what it takes to beat these chefs here.  Or in any prior competition.

I think there was one time Carl didn't actually annoy me. I think he's gotten an ego for being on the show a number of times. I agree about his judging. He likes to go after better chefs and his complaints are usually basic.

I can see that Aaron (sp?) May is a good chef but I find him so unpleasant to look at (and I like Eric Greenspan!) that I find myself hoping he does not win.

Sorry to be shallow, but this has to be the ugliest line-up of double chinned, worst-decision facial haired (male) chefs I've seen.   I do not want to eat their food.

Aaron May, Eric Greenspan, Damaris Phillips, and Carl Ruiz (is that his last name? one of the effects of Guy's constant nicknaming is I often do not know the real names).

Yes, Ruiz.  I like the line up though I wish Justin was there.  I have a deep affection for Damaris and Justin.

I adore Carl.  His sense of humor is on point for me.  I want him as a friend.

Congrats to Eric I guess. I’ve never had a problem with him but I have to admit that the amount of sweat he produces while cooking really grosses me out.

I was hoping Damaris could beat the boys but I don’t think she is on any of their levels professionally.

I would have been happy with either of the final two winning.  Aaron May isn't cute but I like him.  I've always liked Eric Greenspan but  those black whiskers all over his double chin and neck are gross.  I wish he'd shave and also lose some weight before he drops dead.  In any event, it was a good tournament and I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this tournament and was OK with any one of the finalists winning although I was rooting for Damaris.  I agree that she was a little outclassed by the finalists, though.  I have to admit I enjoy the tournaments with chefs most of us know better than the shows featuring unknowns.  I often only watch the tournaments and skip over the unknowns.

I agree, love the tournaments.

Damaris isn't consistent. She can create a dish that leaves others in the dust at times.  I really like her.

It is time to drop the 3 2 1 GO, game.  Just say go, for crying out loud.

The NYTimes review is searing.  The description of the food is just as I thought it would be.  A couple of years ago I looked at the menu at one of his restaurants.  It was not a place I would ever visit.

I'm not sure I ever read the review, but I remember hearing about it. I also remember Guy went on (at least) 1 of the network morning shows to talk about how bad the review was.

I'm 1 of those kinds of people who at least likes to try some of the celebrity chef restaurants--the family type places; not the places where you have to spend half your life savings on the food. I used to go to Las Vegas about every year or so; the last time I was there was about 7 & a half years ago, at this point. The last time I was there, or soon after, 1 of Guy's restaurants (I think another American Kitchen & Bar) went into a then recently renovated & renamed hotel on the Strip. I looked at the menu online, & I couldn't find anything I'd actually eat either, except maybe a dessert or 2. To be fair, I'm a picky eater; I always have been & I'm too old to change now. I can usually make something besides a dessert work for me in, even if it's just an appetizer. But I couldn't even find anything besides a dessert or 2 that wouldn't take massive deconstruction/reconstruction for me to be able to eat it, if I ate at Guy's place.

The Thai woman who won last night was a little insufferable. I wanted to like her but she was such an odd duck with the jumping up and down and shrieking and not figuring out that her kid and Guy shared a name until the very end of the show.

Lol, I just watched the episode last night and I was coming here to post that I just loved her! I thought she was adorable. And it sure looked like she could cook!

She named four kids prior to the shopping spree (Guy, Grace, Nina, Grammy) but only three afterwards (Guy, Grace, Grammy.)   Poor Nina!

I sooo agree with that 321 go thing!  I hit the mute button every time he does that "funny" (at least he thinks it is) 321 go thing!

I didn't like any of the chefs except for the Mexican one.  The Asian chef was cute but seemed to be way out of her league.  The Mexican chef was rushing too much which caused too many mistakes.  I thought for sure he was going to slice his finger.  The other two chefs were so smug and arrogant, like they were the greatest chefs who ever chef-ed.

I enjoyed seeing Aarti, Damaris and Jet cooking with their spouses, but wow is Damaris' husband thin and pasty looking!  He even has sunken eyes.  No offense to vegetarians, but he looks like he could use a good piece of steak!  Good on them for wanting to adopt, though.  Damaris must have crushed it to beat Jet as he's tough competition!

I enjoyed the couples show.  I'd seen Jet's wife work with him before and knew they're a great team.  I agree that Damaris' husband doesn't look robust but he was funny.  I laughed when he said he'd done harder things - like teach 7th grade.  I'd never given any thought to how old Aarti is but I was very surprised when she said she and her husband met in college 20 years ago.  If I'd had to guess, I would have put her closer to 30 than 40.

It was nice seeing Antonia at the judges' table and I don't mind Richard Blaise.  I had no clue who the third judge was.

I guess I’m the only one bothered by the fact that Demaris and husband are keeping the money. Traditionally the judges play for charity and the other two couples were playing for charity also. I assumed that they were donating to an orphanage or to a charity that helps people adopt but apparently they are using the money themselves. Tacky!

Her name is spelled Damaris, not Demaris.

It didn't bother me either as adoption is very expensive and they're young and not rich, especially if he's a teacher.  I wouldn't blame them especially if they can't conceive their own children.

I like them both.  Her husband is funny despite the pale complexion and less than manly ways.  I saw him on her show once and didn't care much for him, but he grew on me in this episode.

I caught up on several of the last few games since I was watching the Olympics when they first aired. I cannot tell you how much I have been enjoying the new Wednesday night shows. The challenges are new and the chefs have been mostly fantastic! How they can come up with some of the dishes they do with what they are given and the time constraints they face is sometimes almost unbelievable! And last night's episode was amazing. I didn't want any of them to have to leave...so who cares if the chicken leg was raw....the rest was fantastic! I have one more show in my marathon...think it is the frying one...off to watch now.

Can they please get Robert Irvine off this show? He has no sense of humor and always has this sour look on his face.

This 1000 times. I cannot stand to look at his pin-headed reptilian (no offense to reptiles) ugliness and he never has anything constructive to add. Just an awful excuse for a human and a terrible judge, IMHO. And the fact that he continually makes the grammatical error of talking about "them [fill-in-the-blank plural],"  as in, "them cheeses."

  • Love 6

I'll see that 1000 times and raise it another 1000.  Robert Irvine's only stock in trade is being a loud-mouthed bully.  I expect the producers told him to dial it way down because GGG is supposed to be fun and he had nothing left to offer.  He is more tolerable when he's subdued but I still can't stand him in any way, shape or form.

He's the only judge whose face stays like this ? when Guy jokes around with him. He obviously hates being there.

Guy's Robert's best friend and probably hooked him up with this gig because his other (horrible) show isn't paying the bills.

Either that or he owes Guy a favor which he cashed in on when some other judge backed out at the last minute.
