I'm actually excited for the Supergirl/Flash crossover. I'm just going to pretend it's an AU story where I can forget my issues with the Flash and Supergirl and just enjoy a fun hero team up. It's much more inspiring when they team up rather than fight. It's the same reason I enjoy LoT.

I am going to see BvS because there are a lot of things I think I will like about it.  I expect to not like the actor playing Lex which is a shame because previous actors playing Lex in movies and television have been great, but whatever.  I expect it to try to do a little too much, but I've enjoyed movies that have had that same fault.  So I think I have my expectations properly set and I want to enjoy it on the big screen.  That said - I think I'm looking forward to the Supergirl/Flash crossover more.  My word, Grant and Melissa are adorable together!  And I'd love to see them both cheerfully annoying Oliver!!!!!!!

And what I would not give to - at some point in time - see Diggle react to both Supergirl AND JJ.

This movie is going to be such a wonderful birthday present for me next year. They all look so freaking badass! I'm, especially, feeling Robin Wright's look the most. I'm very hopeful that this will be great with Patty Jenkins at the helm. Hopefully, Snyder/Terrio didn't really have much influence over anything to do with Wonder Woman's movie.

Well, I saw BvS yesterday, and not even Snyder could ruin Wonder Woman. She was 100% awesome in it, and Gal is really stunning.

Also, I liked it more than Man of Steel? Or like the one third of MOS that I saw, because then I turned it off. But my mother, who liked MOS, didn't like this one. It's definitely not one for "casual" fans. My mom is OBSESSED with the Flash, like she doesn't miss an episode, will tell her friends she can't go out, obsessed. But I had to point out to her "Hey, that dude that ran very fast in that scene? You realized that was the Flash, didn't you?" because she had not.

I think with a bit tighter editing (it didn't need to be that long) and a bit more humor (not that much - I thought the jokes landed more because the general tone was so dry. "Is she with you?" really works as a joke because of how non-jokey the characters are, as well as Martha's joke to Bruce, but they should have added a few more. The Marvel films do end up being a bit too jokey. Whedon scripts, as much as I like them, tend to make everyone talk in 'Whedonspeak' and the jokes don't feel as natural), and a bit less speechifying about the state of the WORLD, MANKIND, and the HUMAN SOUL, basically most of its problems would be fixed. The CGI is great, the casting is pretty good, Wonder Woman is a standout, it has a lot of good elements that just needed to be put together in a slightly different way to make a really great movie. Hopefully with Justice League most of that can be fixed.

I just saw it and it was ok. My friends hated it though which I can't blame them for. It was just very depressing for the most part and it's no fun in bringing Bats and Supes together when there is no big difference between the two, both were emo to the 10th degree.

Here's Pajiba's review: http://www.pajiba.com/film_reviews/ive-never-hated-anything-the-way-i-hate-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice.php

TK is a curmudgeon, but he's also a comic movie fan. What I find interesting is how angry this is making viewers who don't like it. It's not just, meh, it's boring or not my thing, it's inciting straight up rage. Everyone I trust on reviews is saying to pass, and I was iffy about this movie long ago, but I guess Warner Bros can't say people are apathetic about BvS. I suppose that's a win?

All his complaints about why the movie is bad are fair enough I agree, but it just doesn't produce that extreme a reaction for me.

Even the "shock" ending wasn't really for me and I enjoyed when Bats, Supes and Wonderwoman started fighting together. I want to see the next movie in the franchise, I hope they learn form the mistakes made with this one.

This is kinda fun - pick a Flarrow character, pick a time to travel to, pick a Beyonce song, pick something to wear, pick a trait you value most, and then see which LoT character you end up being - Ugh! I got the Atom...

Which Of “DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow” Are You?

How in the hell did I get Vandal Savage????

Oh snap, you’re a badass! While Savage may be a totally bad dude, you and he share the determination, willpower, and courage to take what’s yours. Like the whole world.

Lol. I got Atom too. I don't know any Beyoncé songs though so that was a random pick. It probably had to do with picking the future to go to and Felicity as my character.

Well I also chose the future and Felicity and LOVING as my number one valued characteristic and I got the big bad trying to destroy the world.  I guess Felicity is more badass than I realized.

Three of my most trusted friends went to see it. One loved it and can't wait to go again with me. One enjoyed it but admitted that it had its problems. My best friend however said that I might have a fit of rage during the film and freak out, but told me that I wouldn't completely hate Batfleck. I'm so conflicted about going to see this.

I would say he is just about as much of a comic fan as MG & AK. Lex and Supes were nothing like their comic counterparts. Batman was a more extreme version and purely based on Frank Millers take on the character, Wonder Woman was a new version but she actually worked. I would say Lois was most like her counterpart.

Ah, I see. I truly thought people were excited because it was supposed to be a 'truthful' interpretation or whatever.

I didn't hate Man of Steel but I remember thinking it was an hour too long and kind of depressing. I wonder if I'll feel the same way about this movie.

If you thought MoS was depressing...your thoughts won't change for this. Again, I didn't hate it but I sure as hell didn't love. Superman is suppose to inspire hope and he is suppose to be happy for the most part. He is suppose to the Captain America of DC but of course that isn't cool enough so having him be depressed is meant to be cooler.

I wanted this movie to exceed and blow the box office out of the water, but I think after this week it will take a major dive since word of mouth will not be good.

Oh yes, I've just watched the trailer and I'm sorta pumped. One hero is never better that a few interacting with each other. And with Hank gone, there are no older males to give Barry a pep talk! Utter perfection!

About BvS, it's funny, I've just opened 9gag (yeah I know, what can I say, reddit's interface is too unwieldy) and seen literally hundreds of posts praising Batfleck and damning the movie critics for "not understading what the movie is about". I guess Snyder has found his target demo - teen males unburdened with intellect.

PS Haven't heard any Beyonce songs, but I got Rip Hunter, and I certainly don't mind.

I got White Canary even though I'm nothing like Sara :p I'm not complaining though it could've been much MUCH worse as evidenced here haha

My choices were: Felicity, the future, Run the World (because it's the only one I've heard in a long long while), The coat because what if it gets cold in the future?!?, and strong.

Lex isn't supposed to be Lex Luthor, but LL Jr who, from what I gathered, is quite different. But I would have appreciated something more cheery from Superman. But I did like his estabilished relationship with Lois.

I was listening to BBC's Monocle radio last night and the reviewer savaged BvsS. A real fan, he referenced not only the old Batman movies and especially Christopher Reeves, but also George Reeves from the TV show and Kirk Allyn from the 1948 movie I had never heard of. At one point he compared it to Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl from the Batman & Robin movie, and like others said that it was just basically a set up for more movies.

I think I'll wait till it's on TV.

If

Jimmy Olsen is killed, does that mean it's a reverse killing for the James Olsen character on TV, like how Waller and Lawton have been killed on Arrow so their movie counterparts can live?

Edited by statsgirl

Most of the positive reviews I've seen of BvS have been like "I liked it. But the plot and editing were all over the place, the writing was sloppy and there was too much going on". Those are important aspects of a movie, especially in one with very little humor. It seems if you just like seeing the characters of Batman and Superman than the movie was great. If you want to see an actual movie with a plot for Batman and Superman watch their previous movies.

I have not doubt it's going to make a ton of money this weekend. But I can see a huge drop next week (more than the usual drop). I don't think it will hurt their other movies though. I still want to see Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman.

Ok three episodes in Daredevil season two and I'm going to have to watch the Affleck movie just to feel good about this character again.  I am SO very glad that Arrow is not this show.  The conversations / exposition are just a bit too much.  I want Oliver to talk more but these characters just GAB in the most unbelievable ways.  And it's not particularly witty or enjoyable.  I'm screwed if Batman and Superman dialogue like this lol.

I don't understand where Daredevil's skills are, where his swagger is, how he is earning a reputation as a character who bad guys fear.  I want to like this show so much, but it's so difficult.  And I don't understand how Jessica Jones was so much more enjoyable.

  • Love 1

I think Jessica Jones is better than Daredevil. I like Daredevil, well not Matt/Daredevil as much after season 2 but I like the rest of the characters. It is very dark both in tone and lighting. I've heard the characters talk a lot complaint from others as well. However the monologue in episode 4 is what really drew my attention to the show. It's not the best show out there, I enjoyed it though.

I guess I assumed that sense Marvel intends to do Defenders at some point that the same people behind DD were also behind JJ but I can prove that out by looking it up.  I just like Jessica Jones so. much. more.  I was wrapped up in JJ and couldn't wait to watch each new episode.  I just don't feel that way about DD.  But I will give episode four a chance since I haven't even seen their Electra yet.

I'm just having so many issues with finding the show boring - especially Matt.  I want to see the Daredevil who is subtitled as The Man Without Fear. I'm just not getting that from this show.

I just started Daredevil (I'm actually on episode 3 of S1) and there are a few things I'm already getting so far (yep, I'm going to make my 23394384th list :p. I like lists okay!):

  • I don't think this is the kind of show I can invest fully into the characters. I mean I like Matt, Karen, Foggy, Claire... But I can't seem to connect to them like I do with characters in Arrow or (to a lesser extent) Flash.
  • It's a gritty show based on realism and this is what I want Arrow to be more like (thematically)
  • I want Arrow's action scenes to be better
  • There isn't a clear character journey on Daredevil like there is on Arrow. Arrow is a story about Oliver's growth... I'm not sure Matt is keen on becoming /better/. Does this change in future episodes?
  • Daredevil is generally better paced so far and the mystery of who the villain is, is intriguing...
  • Unlike Jessica Jones, there isn't a psychological element to Daredevil so far. It doesn't take on controversial topics like JJ does. It's something I really LOVED about JJ because it went well with the dark tone of the show...

Clearly Daredevil is entertaining for those who love stunts... But I suppose I'm not into that because I'm not really connected to the character. Character > Stunts for me. I guess this is just going to be a show that gives me mindless entertainment. I'll see if this changes in S2...

Edited by wonderwall

The stunts on Daredevil don't do it for me.  I appreciate that they are well choreographed and performed, but I still don't like them.  I think I'm just not the right viewer for really drawn out battles and fight sequences because I get bored and start dissecting things. So I start wondering what kind of brain damage a chain hitting someone's head might cause or if anyone in those fight sequences would end up with a broken vertebrae or two. Then I start wondering why they are only going at Matt one or two at a time and why don't any of these biker dudes have guns.  And with that many bad guys charging him - why doesn't someone hit him over the head hard with something while he's punching someone else.  Etc....  Seriously, it takes me totally out of the moment.

Is it wrong that I am a little excited the Flash's ratings dropped?? I mean I don't wish the show ill, but I really don't understand why the ratings are always so high.

I actually hope that Arrow's ratings stay the same. I think the core audience will return, so hopefully the ratings stay stable. It would be nice for ARROW to prove itself on a week that Flash stumbled.

I'm with you about the Flash. I love everyone on the show but, I'm so tired of some people saying "flash is better than Arrow." All I see now is Barry crying in every episode and that he never gets hate for it because he's a guy. Unlike say Emily/Felicity in Arrow. Double standards (I will also include Laurel and this is saying a lot because I don't like the character but she did get a lot of hate for crying.) Edited by EmilyBettFan

LOL it's like a game now. Every time Barry cries, you take a drink!

Question for those who watched BvS...do they make the distinction between Alexander Luthor and Lex Luthor abundantly clear IN the movie? All of the comments/reviews that I've read has talked about him being "Lex" not Alexander.

I know the cast/crew say he's Alexander in interviews but, that's kind of irrelevant if they don't spell it out IN the movie.

Oh well if it's not Lex Luther but his son that salvages that for me a bit.

No. The character is Lex Luthor. Yes, Lex is short for Alexander, but he is Lex.

Daredevil did get his ass kicked a lot in the first season. It's the same as Arrow, he goes up against people with guns with a bow and wins with barely any marks on him. That's the "super" part of the show we are supposed to just go with. Along with the whole not killing part when they are severely beating and shooting holes through their enemies and leaving them there where they will most likely die from not getting medical attention.

However I think Daredevil is doing the Lawyer thing right (for tv not real life), Matt and Foggy sound and act like Lawyers unlike Laurel on Arrow.

I'm not so sure Arrow is about Oliver's growth since he'll take 1 step forward then takes 30 steps back every season so far. He hasn't learned a single thing. Matt does that too but no one coddles him and tells him he's right. They all tell him he's wrong constantly, even the crazy ones (Frank and Elektra) tell him that. I loved when Claire told Matt that New York wasn't just his city and to get off his cross and join the rest of them in the real world.

Foggy loves Matt but won't keep enabling his BS. My favorite line of his was "You don't get to create danger, and then protect us from that danger. That's no heroic, that's insane" or this one "Stop acting like these things just happen to you! No one's making you go out all hours of the night fighting bad guys and nobody makes you lie to your friends, over and over again! Elektra is not the problem, Matt. You are"

Those are things that need to be said to Oliver.

  • Love 4

Omg. Yes. Matt gave a whole big, damn speech about how he doesn't kill before slapping people in the face with chains and I'm just sitting there wondering if their dead.

That whole sequence with Punisher on the roof top should have gone like this:

Matt: I don't kill.

Frank: Oh really?  You make sure they all get medical attention?  And what do you think happens to the victims you save if their attackers get out of jail?  Do you make sure there is no revenge?  I do. Because a dead man can't get revenge.

Matt: I can't be judge, jury, and executioner.

Frank: Than you should leave it all to the cops and stay out of it.

There moral debate over - let's move on now.

The character

talks about his father. He was apparently a psycho who used to beat him. Then he died and left him a fortune.

Is it going to be black? Lol

The younger Sara scene looks like she's handcuffed to the desk. I wonder if that's when she was caught shoplifting? I also guess that's the Sara, Caity didn't think she'd be playing again.

I can't wait for the Wild West episode.
