Even if he was being a bad influence on Sheldon, it was nice to see Georgie bond either Sheldon over the art of lying.

And Sheldon didn't rat Georgie out even after he was caught in his own lies. He and Georgie may not have much in common, but they still have that sibling bond.

Loved Sheldon explaining Star Trek to Meemaw and Meemaw doing the Captain Kirk impersonations. With his mom fretting so much over him, it's great that he has a fun grandma.

Now we see where Sheldon's insistence on details when lying comes from.  Just think, if not for Georgie's sage advice, we might never had had Cousin Leo's intervention!

I must protest the idea that by forging notes to his gym teacher and fooling Missy into digging up MeeMaw's yard, Sheldon was emulating Kirk.  Kirk was willing to break rules, but he broke them for a cause, not for selfish reasons.  Even the Kobayashi Maru test, he reprogrammed the simulator because he refused to believe in a 'no win' scenario.  Georgie cheated on his math test so he could play football.  I just didn't think the writer's handled the whole Kirk vs Spock conversations well at all.

I think this is the reason I didn't love this episode.

I did enjoy Sheldon taking library books without checking them out with the librarian. But letting us know that he always returned them, because he's not [something funny].

Sheldon's math book had the brown paper bag cover! Brings back memories of doing that at the beginning of school.

I loved seeing that!

This episode made me realize the show would work much better without Jim Parson's voice-overs. There's too much of a disconnect between this show and TBBT. I was basically enjoying this episode until the first voice-over, which I found not only unnecessary but intrusive. Took me right out of the show, because it reminded me that Jim Parson's Sheldon is very different from Young Sheldon. They're just not the same person.

I love the voice overs and I like to see how older Sheldon was formed, I don't see much difference, I know I wasn't the same person 40 years ago that I am today.  Maybe a little bit, but I've changed, the core is still the same though.

I really enjoyed this episode and I have to give credit to the powers that be, the way George shut down Mary and made it clear whatever he was watching on TV was more important than talking to her about their kids was a nice bit of foreshadowing of trouble to come.  I was a little concerned that they were making George too nice when from everything we're told he was an unfaithful alcoholic who did some pretty stupid crap.  That brief moment when he glared at her and she got all tense and angry said a lot about where the marriage is headed.

As a trekkie, I loved this episode, although I agree that Kirk has never been the rule-breaker some people think he is (I'm looking at you, Abrams and Pegg). He was an out-of-the-box thinker, which is a completely different thing. I also loved Sheldon's insight into the way his mind works, with colours and smells.

I may be a rulebreaker, but I'm not a maniac.

Yeah, George (the dad) has been pretty nice and likable the last few episodes.  Nice to see him being a bit of a jerk here.

Actually, I felt a little sorry for Mary (Sheldon's mom) in this episode.  Both her husband and Mee Maw belittled her.

I really liked the bonding! And I got a kick out of how seriously Sheldon took Georgie’s advice....when he knows that people know more than he does about a certain subject, he really does listen and heed the information. I loved how he was impressed with Georgie’s lie about the chicken....”I believed you!”

Sibling loyalty right there, absolutely. I can definitely relate to that.

Meemaw imitating Kirk was priceless....and I adore Meemaw and Sheldon scenes in general, but this one was super cute. The scenes between them are relaxed in a way that Sheldon’s scenes with his parents (especially Mary) are never going to be.

Yes to all of this! And her reaction definitely made it clear that this wasn’t the first time something like that had happened.

Some other thoughts:

- Why is Sheldon handing back everyone’s graded exams?? He’s a student in the class, he shouldn’t know everyone else’s grades.

- Something about the way Georgie said “darkness” when Sheldon told him to close his eyes and asked him what he saw just absolutely killed me. Not sure if it was the timing or delivery or tone or the fact that the answer was SO Georgie or what, but I legit cracked up. Absolute perfection.

- Mary’s face after Meemaw said that maybe she’d (Meemaw) might have actually had a few too many whiskey sours while pregnant with Mary after hearing her (Mary) talk about Jesus fixing the score on Georgie’s test was perfect too. Just great. lol!

I liked Meemaw helping Sheldon with his financial negotiations, and her playful jabs at the dad.  She's such a fun character.

Missy didn't have much to do in this episode, but made the most of her lines, referring to Sheldon as 'baby' like her mom does.  What did she say?  "That's okay, Baby" and "Oh Baby, I'm going to be rich!" as she left to dig up Meemaw's yard?  They struck gold hiring that young actress.

I also really liked the way the young actor playing Sheldon delivered his lines and balled up and threw away his note to Professor Proton on the sly... perfect comic timing.

And I got a chuckle out of the "...hanging like a salami in a deli" thing when Sheldon was paying his penance.

Such a cute show!

hmmmm, this didn't even phase me.  Common practice at my grade school in the 70's.

When I was in HS in the late 70's, I graded the exams in my math class after the teacher had graded mine.  I  did not hand them back, though, and the other kids did not know I had graded them.

I also graded social studies exams (everything but essays) in 8th grade!

That's just an expression.  She wasn't calling anyone "baby."

In this episode, Missy had taken to mimicking the way her mother calls Sheldon "Baby".  In the first instance she says it directly to Sheldon, mimicking what her mother had just said to him.  That's why I took the second instance, mentioned above, the same way.

It sounds so natural when Mary calls Sheldon "Baby", and hilarious when Missy does.

Sure, people can obviously say the word 'baby' without directing it toward another person... but to me, she was using it to address Sheldon both times.

She probably thought it made her sound more mature, like her mom.  Which reminded me of her hilarious line when she was going to the party across the street in her dance costume and fairy wings because "It makes me look more mature."

We did this in elementary school too. A student would hand back the graded quizzes. Although I was a little surprised to see it done during a high school class.

That may have been one of my favorite parts of the series so far. It works on a totally different level if you think about rave/club culture in the late 80s and early 90s, because the outfit would not have been terribly out of place.
