Was the issue that Hannah gained significantly more weight than Veronica?  Or gained it in places the uniform would be less likely to hide?  If you gain 5 pounds of cankles the boots would surely hide it, but if it's all mid-section you're kinda screwed.

I think the weight gain on both was quite visible, although Veronica just looked bigger than before, whereas Hannah looked kind of flabby/soft (in DCC world, not normal ppl world lol). I think, without rewatching, that they both gained around 10 pounds. So I do think Hannah looked a bit worse, but I also think Kelly just liked Veronica better than Hannah.

I still say Paige looked the softest out of all of the vets who were called out for weight that year, and in her office visit Kelli said she had gained thirteen pounds. I know there's speculation that they went easy on her because she was allegedly going through her divorce then, but it's just weird to me that Hannah and Veronica continue to get discussed and Paige is off the radar. Her face even looked bloated and puffy to me, where Hannah was soft in the middle but her face looked the same.

Perhaps Paige and Veronica had more favorable treatment because they scored higher in other areas of their veteran audition? I can't imagine going through a divorce, so maybe Paige was upfront about what was going on and K&J saw it as a temporary setback. I love Hannah, but if this show (or The Bachelor) has taught us anything, there is A LOT we don't see.

I was rewatching season 11 this past weekend and I have to say this -- Kelsey should totally not have made the team. (sorry don't throw things at me!).  She reminded me of Morgan and how clearly evident it was that she just didn't have the dances down and yet somehow she managed to make the team because K thought she was gorgeous?

And honestly, I think Kelsey looks a lot like Ashley Paige except not as put together / classy if that makes sense.  Sorry, not to be mean but in rewatching the episodes, I couldn't believe she actually made the team.

Joining in to say I agree with you. Kelsey was brought in for her looks and fan appeal. Of course Kelli did say she has potential in the last episode, and we all know this could be the kiss of death because one year vets who have Kelli's stamp of "potential" at the end of TC have been cut at next year's finals.

I also do not see the appeal of Paige. To me, she was a blender and did not stand out in the squad. I also do not think it would be fair to the other girls if she was allowed to stay because she allegedly gained weight due while going through a divorce. Remember how Angela was called out for not dancing well in the one episode because she said she was having a rough day.

Unpopular opinion = I don't mind seeing the girls get mildly called out or reprimanded. We see a snippet on TV and micro analyze it. Many more of them probably also get called out, and probably a lot rougher. This is why they're World Class. They're very talented girls who have every single minute error called out and corrected.

Unpopular opinion = nepotism. It is what it is. Not fair that some girls are favored more than others, or given more opportunities, etc., but that's life. You can create rubrics and check off lists, rotate judges, have blind auditions, etc., but somebody's relative or major client/sponsor/donor is going to have someone slip right it. Always happens. Everywhere. Some girls get special treatment, and it's unfair, but it's not like they're going to be lined up and shot or sent to the hunger games if they aren't the Specialist Snowflake in the studio.

Not sure if this is unpopular, but Kelsey = they wanted some 'comeback girls' for this season, so they picked a few who had auditioned multiple times, knowing they'd take some and cut some. I think they already knew they were taking Madeline (much deserved), and maybe Kelli (also much deserved, but I think the 'comeback' storyline helped her stand out). I think they knew they were going to cut Amy and Kyndall, but brought them back because they were recognizable and had people rooting for them, but were never going to quite be where they need to be dancewise. Kelsey is a toss up. I think Kelli wanted to cut her, but she knew Kelsey is a gorgeous, well spoken, and can barely squeeze by with dance. Won't shock me if she's cut this year.

I know we've talked about it elsewhere, but Veronica was also a fourth year girl, had an endorsement deal with NIKE and offered a different look for the team thanks to her Native American heritage.

Kelli is a sucker for a tall blonde, but probably annoyed a show group rookie let herself go pre auditions and didn't seem like she was in a big hurry to turn it around. Hannah lacked that sense of awareness and urgency from what we were shown.

And I still strongly dislike her beige audition costume that blended with her skin in such a weird way. Sometimes a nude looks good (no matter the nude a race or ethnicity might define) and sometimes it's just that shade or two off. Hannah's was off. I know they obsessed about those red gloves tho.

She's gotta be someone important's niece/granddaughter/sister. There's just no other way. I personally feel for Yuko. But I feel for my grandmother too. I don't think she should be a DCC though. LOL.

idk, I actually really like the way Yuko danced (at least from what I'd seen), and with her charm and personality I honestly think she'd have likely made the team regardless of "political" clout or potential nepotism.  However, I do think politics were possibly at play (particularly given that she was able to miss some rehearsals), just not through a powerful relative of some sort.  I think it's possible that Yuko might be a bit of a celebrity in her own right at home in Japan, and that she might gain the attention of Japanese viewers through her position here now as a DCC.  If the Cowboys or the NFL period have an interest in expanding their market, it might be a shrewd "in" for the organization.

I am making this wild and unsubstantiated guess through Charlotte's question during past season panel interviews about the NFL expanding into a European country (I know, Japan =/= Europe, but I'm already jumping to conclusions so I might as well jump harder), and also because baseball enjoys a very strong presence in Japan due to Babe Ruth's visit there in the early part of the 20th century and there might be real potential interest if there was a celebrity lead-in.

I wouldn't think, though, that one mediocre cheerleader, would make that much of a difference.

This. 99% of the people who tune in to Cowboys games aren't doing so for the cheerleaders, who you might see for a combined two minutes during a game. They don't even list their names or show more than pom waving usually. No actual dancing.

Unpopular opinion... Erica is pretty and dances well but I don't see her as a standout when she dances with DCC. Her solos are great but she just blends to me when dancing in the group.

Jessica, Bess & Kashara all stand out to me more in this video than Erica

Kashara always steals the show! man, I love watching her dance.  I wonder what happened that she didn't get show group this year.  Bess is so underrated; i hate that she blends on the squad in other ways because she is a fantastic performer.

The NFL would love to expand to China ($$$$$) but they can't work out the logistics for games. There is always talk of putting a team in London, too, but again the logistics are hard for the visiting team. There was also one game played in Mexico City this past season. I don't think Japan is quite the market for football, though.

Thanks for posting this, and I agree that Erica doesn't really stand out here. Bess is the one who my eyes keep going to in this video.

I have to say that I think Kashara deserves to become point girl at some point. I think she's really underrated because she is definitely a powerhouse performer, really likeable and she knows how to speak well- I don't if you've seen those mini interviews of the dcc they have uploaded on their youtube channel, but it seems that most of them can't really speak as well as Jennifer and Kashara do. But I guess she doesn't have a chance unless Holly decides to retire early.

I think Mia's sister who tried out with her back in the day was WAY more of a DCC look than Mia. In fact, I always threw popcorn at the tv when they'd show her being cut and you see her mouth the words "Where's my number". I think Mia is cute (GREAT skin!!) and seemed really down to earth and kind, but she never wowed me.

I didn't see anything special about Mia either in terms of her dancing, but I do think she's one of the prettiest girls they've had in recent history. Her sister, meh. I thought Mia had the look over her but neither of them struck me as really good dancers at auditions. I wasn't continuously surprised by Mia's rise to super DCC status. I never would have thought she would have made it to fifth year veteran, show group member, and point girl based on her performance in her first season.

I am so UN-wowed by this year's squad I feel like I'm gonna cry.

The rookies...Yuko and some marginally qualified (in dance AND looks) "comeback girls" Really??

And the vets.....showboating "me me me" girls who compete for attention rather than dancing and presenting as a squad, or mean girls who can't make weight?! THOSE are my choices? No squad will live up to seasons 1-4 and maybe that's what I'm comparing it to, but I'm really hoping some hungry fresh meat shows up this year and knocks me on my ass and reminds Charlotte, Kelli & Judy (and me, for that matter) what a squad should look like. This year, IMO was a hot mess. I wanna see more Erika and Cersten and the like, I think they're passed over for people who can't not be the center of attention.

Amen, sister.

Sometimes you are just not feeling a song.  Erica may have been having a less than energetic day.  I don’t happen to think that blonde Holly was all that great a dancer yet she became point, went to Pro Bowl.  And yes, there are vastly different opinions on this board but I agree with @QuiteContraryMoni that none of these girls are really rocking my world.

OMG REALLY?! Dang.

I never would have thought she would have gone that far either. I mean, good on her, but she's just not one I miss. Do I need to cry and hug it out that we're never going to have a squad like seasons 1-4 so I can move on??

Yeah, sorry, girl is crazy hot.

So basically what I'm saying is YOU'RE WRONG. J/k I love you. It's just funny how our eyes are all different.

I agree that Mia is one of the prettier DCCs, and that her ascent was somewhat surprising. Didn't Jackie Bob also struggle during training camp? Ashton is the only other rookie that I remember from that season.

Jackie Bob did struggle with kicks. She was called into the office for it once or twice and called out during practice.

Agree on Holly. Not saying she was a bad dancer, but she didn't stick out to me as a super star power dancer like past point girls. I had bets running that Emma would be point the season that Holly was made point, and I was so surprised that Holly was picked over her. Holly wasn't even in the front three of the triangle the previous season and Emma was.

Noooo!!! My Holly Hubb!!! She was perffff <3 <3 <3  I just adore her so much.  She was a special kind of photogenic...even with the bad angles she could pull off a pic:

I think Kelli just really REALLY liked her.  ROTY and she was such a good leader and like, helping people out with the style which is so important.

I do love Emma though.  She is a stunner and such a great dancer.  I'm surprised they didn't have her and Holly switch off.

But again - point is a big deal to US.  :)

Yeah, gotta say I don't buy into the whole "point isn't as important to them as it is to us" thing. I think it's pretty important to them to be quite honest. Holly was obviously gorgeous. Just as far as dancing she wasn't my favorite. But I agree she was a great leader and very photogenic.

I was surprised too! But they have put girls that weren't in the triangle to the point in back to back seasons. The year before Mia was point, the triangle was Whitney, Cassie, and Jackie, but yet Mia was made point the next year over Jackie.

haha i don't think it's NOT important at all - it's certainly an honor to know K&J want you front and center and trust you up there - I just meant that here we act like it is the most important crowning achievement like ahhhhh who is POINT THO?! and it's not quite that extreme for them lol  Partially too i'm sure because some girls realize that no matter how great they are, etc. if they aren't a certain height it's not going to be an option.

4 hours ago, Jess14 said:

Hollly was just bland to me. Nothing against her, she's pretty, seemed like a nice person, and could dance, but she never stood out for me. If they wanted a pretty blonde as point, I wouldn't went with Kinzie.

Again, differing opinions. :)  I think Kinzie is pretty and sweet but i didn't even know she existed for the longest time.  I thought she and Sam were the same person lol  Holly stood out much more to me that Kinzie.

@LaurenBrook I never even considered that height would probably be a factor! I'm betting you're 100% spot on though, and with the height of the point girl you'd have to make sure and balance it with the other two who round out the triangle (don't get me started on hair colors being diverse); so point girl is most likely a wonderful honor and a little bit of a bragging right but certainly not the ultimate sign off by K&J like we all tend to think. Thanks for the insights!!

Yes, but you are discussing her looks.  Her looks were great.  I just don’t think her dance stood out over some of the other girls.

I may be moving into conspiracy-theory territory, but I was scrolling through some of Melissa's twitter pix and saw the DCC Happy Valentine's Day post.   It had 3 group leaders (Jessica, Danielle, JKat...and then Melissa).  Don't get me wrong - I am a huge Melissa fan, but I was struck by the absence of Jenna, the 4th group leader.  Did they need a blonde in the mix? Was Jenna not available? Was Jenna in the doghouse?  Anyone have any insights?

My gut feeling = conspiracy theory.

The thing with Mia's choreography is it seperates the Dancers from the cheerleaders and inexperienced dancers.

The Dancers with a lot of technical training and musicality make it look good. Everybody else makes it look a jumbled hot mess.

The short little Blond with No Name from last week is looking really good in this clip. She can dance. She may get the 'slim down' talk, because they don't seem to have many of the girls built like gymnasts (Kandi Harris, etc) now, but Blond with No Name can dance.
