Thank you for that inside information @bigskygirl. It's too bad, she is such a pretty girl and was good with the DCC style. I would like to get the story on how she fit in with the other DCC one day. I did get the feeling that she was not part of the in-group of DCC rookies. I wonder if she still thinks of herself as the nerdy girl (isn't Kalyssa the one who was her high school valedictorian?), who can't break in with the popular clique. Or perhaps she is an introvert, which can come across as standoffish. So that is four open spots Alexandria, Jenna, Kalyssa, and Milan. Is anyone else dropping? Link to comment

bigskygirl February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 My insider also told me not to be surprised if Kalyssa ends up on The Bachelor. I do not watch the show myself because I cannot watch it without gagging. I guess Melissa the Mentor's so-called success from being on the show has rubbed off on a few of the girls. I am waiting to see if Holly, Vivian or Jenna end up on the show. The one Minchew sister who was called out by Kelli for being plastic or fake probably went on the show because she wanted her five minutes of fame and to boast her acting career. The other sister probably really wanted to be a DCC, but she pissed off Judy too much. I am surprised Judy got her way because I think Kelli and/or Charlotte wanted the one sister in TC in Season 5. bigskygirl February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 (edited) I do not think paying them more would help especially in the case of Kalyssa, Milan, and Alexandria. I also do not think Brennan and Taryn would have solve the problem either because in my opinion, they are not DCC to me. I think a part of it may have to do with Melissa R. because the organization keeps saying hey look at her she made it big outside of DCC, and we use her as an example of great former DCC. Look at former DCC Kat who has said she use the show as a stepping stone for her acting career. Maybe something is going on behind the scenes causing girls to want to leave it all behind. Going to be interesting to see who decides to retire or try out again. I think there will be more vet cuts at finals especially with the rookies class and two year vets having a weaker class of girls. Edited February 6, 2018 by bigskygirl Link to comment
Jazzhands February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 So I’m watching The Bachelor and reading this forum, and a commercial was just on for the Bachelor Winter Games featuring the former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader Bibiana. It made me think that maybe part of the reason that they’re having problems with getting girls to commit to DCC once they’ve made the team is that the combination of exposure these girls get from DCC:MTT coupled with the ability to monetize social media is drawing in a big percentage of girls who view DCC as a quick stop on the fame train to boost their profiles to go on to more lucrative things. If someone like Kalyssa can boost her Instagram followers she’ll get more sponsors (and get paid more per sponsored posts), and maybe she can get more modeling work or better yet get cast on a prime-time, major network show like the Bachelor with an eye toward becoming The Bachelorette, going on DTWS, etc. Lots more money to be made there, if she can make it happen, than the pittance she’s getting as a DCC. I think DCC:MTT may be a double-edged sword for the organization in the age of social media to the extent that it may keep some talented dancers from auditioning who don’t want to be on a reality show, while at the same time it’s drawing talented girls who want to use the show to raise their profiles but aren’t really dedicated to the organization. 10 Link to comment

EricaShadows February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 ANTM did have their "petite" season. . . excuse me, cycle in Cycle 13. and one of the contestants on that cycle was around 5'3". Kalyssa can do beauty, hand modeling (and any other iterations), swimsuits, etc. but if she's going for haute couture or runway, she's likely going to get laughed out of the room because those girls are usually a good five inches taller and as thin or thinner than Kalyssa is. Then again, I'm going off what little I know of fashion and the internet. I couldn't find a standard for haute couture models, just the designers. As fir the girls this year dropping like flies after Training Camp, we only know for sure about Holly and likely Erica. The rest really haven't said a word and what they have said, people aren't exactly buying it, Milan being the only exception (school). At the very least, their timing is horrendous, including Milan's. Link to comment

I have to imagine that when you cut vets like Heather and Raylee, while bringing in Brianna who can’t kick to save her life just bc Kelli is infatuated with her, that says something to the rest of the team. Judy at least seems to be far more objective. I should note that my impression of Judy is based solely on the show. Based on what I’ve read here about Olivia not making it back because of a spat she had with Cassie, then I may be giving Judy far too much credit. She may be worse than Kelli and Charlotte for all I know. 8 Link to comment

bigskygirl February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 I admit I was disappointed when it came out about Cassie and Olivia, and Judy saying Olivia was toxic leading to Olivia being cut at finals, but I still think Judy has better judgment when it comes to the girls going into TC or make the team. It drives me crazy when Kelli and/or Charlotte wants a girl to go into TC or make the team because she reminds them of an actress or movie star, they have a different look, or because they like the girl so much. Sorry for sounding like a broken record, but I think the quality of the team has went down the last few years, and there are very few standouts in the two year vets and rookies this year. bigskygirl February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 According to inside information, Olivia got into it with Cassie on the swimsuit calendar shoot because the rookies were getting more than three times at having pictures taken. Cassie was not happy about the rookies getting more chances of having more pictures taken, and Olivia jumped in to defend the rookies. I guess Judy may not have like Cassie being called out by a rookie and told the judges at finals Olivia was being toxic leading her to being cut and no mention of her being cut being shown the show. I like Olivia and thought she had potential. And yes this does sound petty, but I am glad someone stood up to Cassie because it drove me nuts on how they focus on Cassie being Judy's daughter in her first and last year. I can understand Judy and Cassie being close, but this is a work environment. There is a time and place to spend time together and not remind the rest of us of their relationship. I also think CMT did not need to focus on it either. I also think Cassie was not the first or last mean girl on the team, and I am sure there were other girls who would love to rat out others to get their own way while being on the squad or to save themselves from being cut. I think in many cases the girls believe that they will be able to fulfill their contracts, but just for some reason can't. The team is pretty limited on consequences for breaking the contract. Specific performance of personal services contracts violates constitutional prohibitions on involuntary servitude, so you can’t make them stay on the team or perform/make appearances against their will. The team can’t sue for damages because they doesn’t actually suffer any monetary damages when a girl quits — they can either reblock the performance or use an All-Star, the same as if a teammate is injured or ill. For the same reason (lack of actual money damages), a liquidated damages provision, under which a girl would be required to pay a fee for breaking the contract, would likely be viewed as an unenforceable penalty as well as a public relations nightmare. Legally, about all the team can do is include a non-compete clause that if a cheerleader quits, she’s prohibited from cheering for another team during the term of her contract, but as a practical matter, that doesn’t happen anyway. There is a lot of turnover when employees have part-time, low-wage jobs. Pro cheerleading is more glamorous than slinging hamburgers, so you’ll certainly get a lot of girls who are willing to put up with the long hours, low pay, and strict rules for the perceived benefits. But you’ll also get girls who quit due to demands of school, work, or family obligations, as well as those like Kalyssa (assuming that what is being said about her on this board is accurate) who quit because of the opportunity costs of fulfilling their contracts. 6 Link to comment

She looks more at the dancing skills or the potential of each girl. Kelli and Charlotte are the ones who get excited over certain girls aka Meagan F. and Rachel Buckmaster looking like Julia Roberts and Laura Dern even with their lack of dancing skills, Paula T. because she had a different look but could not dance worth a darn, Courtney Cook because she is cute, but she was a blender and did not have the DCC dancing skills down, the one girl from last season who was 18 who was brought into TC, but her kicks and dance skills were bad, etc. etc. And of course the girls aka who cares if she cannot dance but she is pretty aka two year vet Kelsey. If you want a team full of standouts like Holly, Erica, Kalyssa, etc., you’re going to have problems with breaking rules, quitting, etc. If you want a team of girls who will be dedicated, you need more Christinas, Brennans, Taryns, Auto Amys. It’s going to be very difficult to find 36 girls like Lacey and KaShara, who have the DCC look and style and are willing to play by the rules and stick around for years. The girls today have so many more money-making opportunities today than even 10 years ago. And like someone else said earlier (sorry, I can’t remember who it was to give credit), when DCC/CMT holds out Melissa Rycroft as aspirational, this is what you end up with. She quit the team but is back as a mentor because she got famous on other reality TV shows; she’s not shunned, she’s lauded. 6 Link to comment

They always blather about how the DCC are more than dancers and pretty faces, they need women of character. OK, you talked the talk, now walk the walk! I couldn't believe it when I saw that on one of the shows. I know they like to get a field rehearsal in early, but this really seems like overkill. I was just amped up when I was posting. I should have just left her at the bottom where I explained her bit further. I could add Christina to the list though. I haven't seen any of her dancing recently though, to say if she has improved. 2 Link to comment
bigskygirl February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 Taryn and Brennan were called out for their dancing than their looks. The girls you posted were a lot more talented and had skills beyond what Taryn and Brennan had when they first tried out. Johanna Liad had an injury her first year which cause her kicks to be below par, but she did improve her rookie year. Brooke and Kandi did have weight issues their first year, but they were talented enough to make the squad just on dance skills alone. Brooke came back from a serious knee injury her second year and became a DCC rock star. Jordan C. did struggle her first year, but she came back solid her second year. In the case of Brennan, she has come back more than once, and she has improved a little, but her dancing skills were still not strong enough to make the team. In otherwords, I would not put her in the same league as Brooke, Kandi, Jordan C. or Sydney. Kelli Quinn did not make the team by the skin of her teeth when she finally made TC. In my opinion, she is a much better dancer than Taryn and Brennan in her rookie year. Link to comment
nittanyvolleyball February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 If it's something you really want and you're taking their notes for improvement every year, I don't see anything wrong with auditioning multiple times. 7 Link to comment

Clearly, Brennan and Taryn were among the top 40 something to "say DCC" because they both made it into training camp. So, how do you define who is more talented and has more skills beyond what someone else has? Because from what I remember, Brennan killed it at finals. Killed it. Kelli even said she killed it. Kelli also said if Brennan could just get out of her own head she would make the team. So, I don't understand how you can say Brennan doesn't look like a DCC when the Director of the DCC was on board with Brennan being a DCC. All of the above aforementioned DCC's, made the team by the skin of their teeth which is what your criteria was. It doesn't matter if Brooke and Kandi were facing weight issues - they still faced an issue that was hindering them from making the team. Which again, is what you based your criteria on. And, yes, these girls (Jordan, Sydney, Megan, Kelsey, Joanna) did have a rock star first year and came back stronger their second year. Which is exactly my point and my argument. We have no idea how Brennan and Taryn would have done their first year had they made the team. They would have been removed from the stress of being a TCC, they would no longer have to live in fear of being cut and would have been able to finally relax and enjoy themselves at practice, which is how many of the girls improve. I don't know about you but I have been in a situation where all of the stress, judgement and worry was removed in my particular sport and you know what, just like those skin of their teeth DCC's, I excelled too. 7 Link to comment

PrincessLeia February 6, 2018 Share February 6, 2018 I think Kelli and Charlotte are so focused on what the girls look like, that they let some really great girls, who may have the dedication of old, get away. The giant HD television has really changed the way they pick a team. Kandi and Brooke may not have made the team now. I think social media has alot to do with it as well..... these girls have more opportunities and get their heads filled with big dreams. I think the girks should stick it out the full year..... I’ve always thought something stunk about Alexandria leaving. I think her fiancé didn’t like her being so far away and perhaps she didn’t either, so she quit and cake home. Even during the show I never understood how that was going to work. 4 Link to comment

Furthermore, she talked about how she and her fiancé and just bought a house so it was weird that she was moving to Dallas. Im not denying that a family member may have been sick, but it just seems like she may have been ready to go home anyway. 5 Link to comment
