Whoopi Goldberg: EGOT Winner, So Why Is She Here?

All very good points, Gemma. I do think Whoopi enjoys being on the show regardless of how much she complains, however she’s not willing to go the extra mile with podcasts or selling skin cream or whatever.  She enjoys chatting with guests, especially if it’s someone she’s worked with or known for a while, and I think that’s why ABC still wants her there and is willing to put up with her schtick - guests want to see/meet the great WG.

Whoopi has become that relative like "Grandma" in the house that rants on about stuff she only knows half about from tv or friends, or how it was in her day.

Someone whom everyone tolerates out of superficial respect, but doesn't  really listen to much or take seriously, as they roll their eyes as they walk away from her in midsentence.   

No offense to elderly. Sometimes it's another younger relative or friend who is known as a know- it- all, or somewhat off-kilter upstairs (in their lack of logic but harmless), or just a general pain in the ass.

In my case,  it is one brother-in-law, and my brother who fit the bill at times.

This came up in my Youtube--a few clips of Whoopi in her role in Annie.  I must say, a dress looks really good on her--much more flattering than what she wears on The View.  Her singing leaves a lot to be desired though.

Well that was sweet.  I think that is a different version of the Whoopi on The View.  I did listen to her book and I think that is not the version of Whoopi on The View.

Whoopi looked touched by Sunny being so impressed by her performance, "her gift." I thought it was sweet. I really do respect her talent.

Too bad ABC doesn't do those Live! holiday type shows. Annie with Whoopi as Hannigan would actually be a pretty good idea for one.

Whoopi yelled at ME and some of her co-hosts once too often this morning. I turned off the TV.

1.  I don't like her anyway.

2. I don't enjoy her ALWAYS having the last word...the last LOUD word before commercial breaks.  ALWAYS!

3. Could we start a GoFundMe account for her?

4. It's a waste of time to say (again) that she's wrong more often than right ... but so LOUD no one notices.

5. She needs to disguise or HIDE her disdain for Alyssa.

Does anybody here watch LOVE IS BLIND? It’s a reality dating show where you don’t see each other until the guy proposes to the girl ( if he is so inclined) and they give them questions to ask each other to get to know each other better. One question was, “Would you rather get a tattoo of Whoopi Goldberg on your butt or be locked out of the house naked? “ Needless to say, they both picked the second option.🤣😵‍💫😏

Speaking of Whoopi I'm reading a book about NBC and how they became a powerhouse in the 80s and 90s and it seems Whoopi was responsible for the end of Cheers.  She was dating Ted Danson at the time and she told him he needed to quit Cheers and find out who he is as a person or he would never grow. Ironic coming from her as someone who doesn't seem to ever grow as a person.

I like to believe Whoopi was Danson's midlife crisis.  Between him divorcing his wife leaving a hit show and putting on blackface to do a skit I think I'm probably right.  His life improved so much after they broke up.
