Dirtybubble September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I will watch just to see what it's all about. As a fan of Bachelor Nation I'm very familiar with the format and the tom foolerly that goes on so I come prepared for the silliness. Plus it helps that it airs right after (or is it before) RPDR so it's an easy transition to the next show, no hunting channels trying to find this show. Link to comment

TeapotWakeen September 9, 2016 Share September 9, 2016 Agreed that it was no surprise that the less conventionally attractive guys were sent home (although I thought the bear guy was pretty cute). I liked how Robert started as a part of the group and got to size the guys up (no, Paul, not that way!) without them knowing who he is. It's too early for me to have a favorite, or even a guess as to who will win. Mostly, I'm just going to enjoy the ride. 2 Link to comment
burner September 10, 2016 Share September 10, 2016 I'll probably end up continuing to watch this because it's on after Drag Race and because there isn't much out there for us gays. That said, this was pretty tragic. Robert has like no charm whatsoever. He's pretty but he's "relying on pretty" (tm Tyra Banks). I laughed out loud when the bachelors barely reacted to Lance Bass being the host. "Oh, ok, sure, I guess". HA. The weirdest thing to me was that when the bachelors were eliminated we didn't get any post interview or soundbytes. "He made the wrong choice" or "I wasn't into him anyways" kind of stuff. Do we know how many episodes there are? Getting rid of 3 guys in the first episode seemed like a lot. Guessing he'll end up with Brendan. 1 Link to comment
Dirtybubble September 10, 2016 Share September 10, 2016 Enh I liked it enuff. I'm a fan of the bachelor shows so I was very familiar with this setup. Yeah the bachelor himself is a bit of a dullard but that's kinda the norm on the other shows so I'm not surprised here. The suitors seem ok so far. All seemed like handsome gym rats and that is also very similar to what you find on the straight version. I wanted to give Paul a big hug, wow what a lot to go thru.....what heartache ? One thing though, that black tie thing just seems so awkward and stupid! Will you were this tie?! Gah? Link to comment
TheOtherOne September 11, 2016 Share September 11, 2016 Chad was fired this week from his job at a big-name New York real estate firm, evidently for being on the show. It was probably fine before the news about Sepulveda's background came out, but that probably made the company less comfortable. Not really fair. 1 Link to comment
burner September 11, 2016 Share September 11, 2016 I agree it's not really fair if he disclosed he was going to be on the show before it started filming. And it's not like the show is huge or that the escort stuff is major news. You'd really have to be searching for this stuff to find it out, ya know? 1 Link to comment

I didn't like how Robert asked Charlie, "So, how are you getting along with the other guys?" and Charlie answered, and then Robert punished him to hell for it. It's kind of hard to sidestep that question and realize that the question was almost a manipulative trap. I guess the right answer for Robert would have been "Yes" no matter how Charlie actually felt? Or, Robert could have just not been attracted to Charlie and was grasping for an excuse, but then he DID go out of his way to compliment Robert's eyes. So. I found that whole thing weird. I loved the show and I will definitely be watching. My favourite lines (On Robert) He looks like a walking Photoshop. Qoass September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 Quote He looks like a walking Photoshop. I suspect that was a paraphrase of a line from the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love. I had the opposite response: if you edited out every time something or someone was described as "nice", "cute" or "great", the show would have been thirty seconds long. If the only articulate candidate is that fool who was auditioning for Jack in a Will and Grace remake, it's going to be a long season. 1 Link to comment

Corgi-ears September 14, 2016 Share September 14, 2016 This dumb, hilarious show. I thought Sam was cute, right before I realized he is a serial killer. Brodney, huh? Presumably there's a Narrow Rodney running around whom we'll never see, much like Regular Size Rudy on Bob's Burgers. It was pretty great how the show, from minute one, acknowledged that some of the suitors might as well hook up with each other. And that was even before it became apparent (to me, at least) that Robert was a total dullard whose best feature was perhaps, at a pinch, his passing resemblance to a young Harvey Fierstein. When people kept going on about his "piercing blue eyes," I had to wonder if I (a) needed a new TV, and (b) was colorblind. Frankly, I'm shipping the bald guy Jasen and bearcub Charlie, or possibly just Charlie and myself. Poor man's Wallace Langham could not stop sweating, huh? His sprayed-on abs must have been running. You better run after them! 3 Link to comment

sugarbaker design September 16, 2016 Share September 16, 2016 I don't like the whole black tie thing. It's bad enough one is getting kicked off the show, but then to have to stand there while the prince takes off your tie just seems so unnecessary. Poor Jasen. If only they took a cue from The Bachelor/ette and gave something out to the contestants who are staying, like a pink carnation or a cockring. 4 Link to comment

From "Word of the Gay": Mary: a feminine name used as a substitute for a gay man’s given name, used with affection, ridicule, or familiarity by another gay man. I rarely watch Logo, since it became the "All RuPaul Drag Race All the Time" channel, plus "Golden Girls" (which is about drag queens of another era), but I came upon this by accident. Oh boy, a bunch of bitchy queens acting like bitchy queens to reinforce the stereotype that gay men are bitchy queens. Apparently, someone has it out for "Prince Charming," since they're exposing his prostitute escort past all over the place. I must have seen postings about his prostitute escort ads on almost every site that talked about the show. I think it was the same person. I'll probably watch again, but I hate faux drama like this, especially when perpetrated by gay men. 1 Link to comment

Dirtybubble September 16, 2016 Share September 16, 2016 Quote I don't watch The Bachelor, so maybe this is normal, but Robert is a complete non-entity, which seems like a flaw. As a fan of Bachelor/Bachelorette shows I can say this is common. The leading man or lady becomes a co-star and the suitors/sad sacks are the stars of the show. They are the ones that provide all the drama so they get the most screen time and in turn learn more about who they are as people. Usually the most popular suitor that didn't "win" in the end gets to be the next leading man or lady in the following season soooo if this show is renewed maybe we could see Robby or Justin (my new favorite) as the new Prince Charming! But like I said once they take that role they fade into the background.... 1 Link to comment
sugarbaker design September 16, 2016 Share September 16, 2016 I use Mary all the time with my friends, and it's never an insult. I thought Robby figured out that Sam wasn't comfortable with feminine gay men, thus the reason he used "Mary". Link to comment

belligerent September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 Charlie was the one I found the most attractive so of course he gets the boot right away. I wanted to see him shirtless during the pool party, but of course not. This show is severely lacking in bears. Can they do a bear version next? I was half expecting Robby to turn out to be a transman, since when you look at him compared to the other guys, his physicality and proportions aren't as tall and adonis-like as all the other guys (his facial features are less masculine, as well), but then they showed pics of him on the football team when he was younger, and they showed him shirtless during the pool party and he doesn't have top surgery scars. It would have been a twist for sure but it would have raised a lot of questions and controversy I'm not sure LOGO really wants to explore with this show... I thought I was going silver but Robert has got me beat. We're the same age so that makes me feel a lot better about myself. I'm also glad that all these guys are around my age because it makes me feel better about my own failure at the relationship I tried. 2 Link to comment

I know he's there for love, but aren't they (incl. ABC's bachelor) all? Sure Robert wants love, but perhaps Robert perceived Jasen as "clingy"...and we can't have that on a dating show. 1 Link to comment

Corgi-ears September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 (edited) 16 hours ago, nosleepforme said: I kind of hope someone in the house will develop a crush on one of the other contestants, because it is weird that everybody is aiming for Robert when there is actually also other potential in the house for love...Maybe they need to ditch the concept of a "suitor" for a same-sex version of it and instead have 13 guys living together and see where it takes them ... but then there would be no guarantee that there is a ROMANTIC thing left by the end. This should be the show. It would be a fantastically subversive take on the Bachelor, and a great fuck-you to heteronormativity -- and yet totally logical. Why would anyone fall for some man (who's a total bore to boot) whom they see for a short period, under orchestrated circumstances, over someone who they are living in a house with, and getting to know 24/7? (The first episode almost acknowledges this by having Robert start off by mixing with the suitors incognito -- after all, that's obviously the better way to get to know someone.) Indeed, if someone does fall for Robert instead of his housemates, it just speaks to the extent to which the person is falling for an idea instead of reality. It would be brilliant if this turns out to be the twist. At the end of the season, Lance Bass turns to the camera and intones, "Folks, you know how throughout this show we have both referred to Robert as Prince Charming, and yet at times makes it sound like he is looking for Prince Charming? That's because our lesson is that 'Prince Charming' is a fucking construct, and we are all Prince Charmings, to someone. The more you know." (Bonus points to the show if this is then followed by Lance bursting into "Bye Bye Bye.") Edited September 17, 2016 by Corgi-ears 3 Link to comment

It's always better when there's someone to blame. Maybe throw everybody's name into a hat and those drawn get to choose a companion contestant until only one is left. Easily sets up drama and strategy. As for Robert, until I saw him I never thought a human being could slip into the uncanny valley. There has to be some sort of "will they stay or wont they" to keep the viewers coming back and having it done by another contestant not only gives us someone to root for it defines a clear villan (unless we never liked the person going home in the first place....) It gets a little dull if you know everyone is going to be there week in and week out. He puts too much emphasis on looks. I know he keeps saying he wants someone with family values, blah, blah blah but I feel like the producers or whomever is just telling him to say that to keep up a tame gay image. burner September 24, 2016 Share September 24, 2016 Quick thoughts: - Robby is tv gold. I'd love to see him spin this into some kind of better opportunity. He'd be good on some kind of show that has a panel of co-hosts I think. - Sam came off incredibly badly on this. Just an ego monster crazy person. And the spitting thing was gross. Glad he's gone. - Danique was a total sweetheart but it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to win Robert's heart. - In agreement that Paul is the most likely winner. I expect it to come down to him or Justin with maybe Brandon in there too. I do think a twist of format would be good. The most entertaining parts of this show have been between the guys in the house, so maybe a semi Real World sort of show would be better. Just get 10 guys to move into a house together and follow them around for a couple months. Or send them all on a 2-3 week vacation or cruise and see what happens there. The love angle is the least interesting part. 2 Link to comment
Dirtybubble September 24, 2016 Share September 24, 2016 (edited) I agree with you guys that Paul is a contender and finalist but my thought is that Paul might be too good for Robert. Paul really seems to have his shit together and all around good person. As the show goes on I've heard some very disturbing rumors about Robert. The main one being that the rainbow sidewalk charity no longer exists and that Robert used proceeds from that charity for his own personal use (shopping sprees etc.) These are just rumors and I have no proof but from what I can tell Robert is an unemployed freeloader.
