Jordan27 August 31, 2016 Share August 31, 2016 Here's my assessment of the performers and their chances to win..... (The Favorites) Laura Bretan Jayne Brown Calysta Bevier Viktor Kee Grace VanderWaal Brian Justin Crum Edgar (Anyone of these favorites can win and wouldn't be surprised to see most of them in the finale. Yep, and Viktor is the only non singer that has a good chance to win.) (A Slight Chance To Win) Tape Face Kadie Lynn Sal Valentinetti Soffi Dossi Jon Dorembos Linkin Bridge The Clairvoyants Blake Vogt Malevo Kaden Bart Rockett Steven Brundage (I like Tape Face, Kadie Lynn and Linkin Bridge with the best chance to be in the finale from this group.) (The Longshots) Lori Mae Hernandez Musicality Before any of you jump on me about the second group, it's not that they aren't talented, but look who they have to jump over to win. Six singers who are good and a great juggler. It's too much to over come. Who will win? Unlike American Idol when you knew it was one of two singers, we just don't know. And I would be happy with any of the favorites as I like all of them. Link to comment
Drogo August 31, 2016 Share August 31, 2016 Only 5 of the previous night's performers will move on to the Finals. 1 Link to comment
Mr. Sparkle September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 (edited) The only surprises were Linkin' Bridge over Steven Brundage and Calysta not even placing. Edited September 8, 2016 by Superclam 1 Link to comment
giaNtsandYankees September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 (edited) I was TORN between Viktor and Steven B...I gave my Dunkin' Save votes to Viktor, though. I enjoyed seeing Steven's stage presence improve though. I wish him well. I liked Jayna, but I knew in the back of my mind that she wouldn't make it through. I wish her well when she goes to the performance arts high school she was accepted in. I'm content with the finalists. Mel B.'s screaming though... On to next week. callmebetty September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I loved the camaraderie that Victor, Sophie and Steven have. Can those three create their own show with beautiful scenery, contortions, juggling seamless interwoven with Rubics cube magic. I would pay to watch that all day long (TM Heidi) 14 Link to comment
UsernameGoesHere September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 (edited) The Dunkin Save trio was actually a nail biter for once! I had no clue how any of it was going to go. I'll miss you, Steven. :( But at the same time I'm happy for Viktor and Sofie. I love all 3. Edited September 8, 2016 by UsernameGoesHere 4 Link to comment
Commando Cody September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I thought it was a toss up between Linkin Bridge and Jayna. Meaning I had no idea who would go through. In the end, I thought America would go with the little girl singer. So, maybe I was little surprised. I had no idea who was going through in the Dunkin Save. However, I didn't think Sophie would win it. I figured on the judges vote being split though and letting America decide. 1 Link to comment

UsernameGoesHere September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I figured Steven would win the Dunkin Save, just because he seems to have such a big online following, and then the judges would have to choose between the circus acts. But obviously I know nothing. :P 2 Link to comment

PhD-Purgatory15 September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 Not gonna lie, when the Dunkin trio was announced....I thought singers swept the top 3 places (Brian, Calysta, and Kadie/Jayna). So I was pleasantly surprised that the Clairvoyants made it and Linkin Bridge is representing in the finale for all bands and vocal groups. Glad to see Viktor in the finale. He's got no chance of winning...but I still want to see what he conjures up in one last routine. So the finale breakdown is 5 musical acts (Grace, Laura, Sal, Brian, and LB), 2 "magic"acts w/ John and the Clairvoyants, 1 Silent Comedian in TapeFace and two "physical" acts in Sofie and Viktor. I'd say that's pretty par for the AGT finale course. Wondering if Edgar or Steven might be brought back as a finale WC....and whether anyone has a realistic shot at derailing Grace. Methinks, probably not. 3 Link to comment
Lonesome Rhodes September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I am happily shocked that Ameriker put Clairvoyants in the top 3. And then split 2-2 with singers and variety acts. Good job, Ameriker. I hated, hated, hated, including the Mel B survival mess. If I wanted to see or hear about such, I would watch those shows. I most definitely do NOT watch AGT for such crudeness. Yeah, I know, stomach guy and others have been gross. They've got a decent Finals. Let's see what they do with it. 2 Link to comment
Frankenstein123 September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 America took a step into crazy town with me as my prediction regarding Linkin Bridge came true, but overall I'm quite pleased with the results because it could have gone SO much worse. In a perfect world, Steven would have gotten the spot instead of Linkin Bridge, but I'm glad he even got the chance to come back into the live shows after being eliminated early on. I've liked him from the beginning and he's consistently been in my top 5 so it's bittersweet to see him go, but for the sake of having a more varied finale, Sofie and Viktor were the better choices. I WAS surprised to see Calysta go, but the show hasn't been kind to female singers in the recent years so I should have seen it coming. At least we know the voters got it right this time and weren't swayed by sob stories alone. It's interesting to think that out of all the main judges golden buzzers Simon's was the one that got cut (and OBVIOUSLY Calysta got to stay on stage and be talked to when all the other acts were unceremoniously ushered off) which just shows how he's slowly losing his influence over people. I certainly would have made some changes if it was up to me, like replacing Sal with Malevo and Linkin Bridge with Passing Zone or Steven, but it's hard to deny we have a pretty good and most important...VARIED finale. 5 singers and 5 variety acts, split exactly in the middle...and on closer inspection no two acts are the same. We have a kid opera singer, a close up magician, a contortionist, a young accoustic singer/songwriter, a juggler, a pop singer, a crooner, a mentalist duo, a vocal group and a...a uh...a tape face. 7 Link to comment
TaraS1 September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I was disappointed about Steven, but so happy for my Clairvoyants! I would love to see them win it all, but I fear there is no stopping Grace and Brian. Unfortunately. I was glad for Linkin Bridge because they're fellow Kentuckians, but I was really hoping Jayna would go through. 2 Link to comment
marketdoctor September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 Quote Does anyone know how the finals work? I know they will perform on Tuesday. Will they be eliminated one by one? That's how they did it last year--sort of like the semi-finals, but they call a few acts, and eliminate one or two--and for the top five or so, say it in the order they finished. They also have some of them (the top acts?) performing with an already-established act (relatively speaking)--I remember Piff performing with Penn & Teller, for example. Quote I was glad for Linkin Bridge because they're fellow Kentuckians Ok, now I want to see them do the soundtrack for a Goldfinger* remake. Also I want them to remake Goldfinger. * So far the greatest, and possibly only, Bond film to take place significantly in the Louisville area. 1 Link to comment
helenamonster September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 I was sort of bummed Jayna didn't make it into the finale because I thought she had an amazing performance on Tuesday, but I'm also of the "less singers the better" mindset, so it's okay. I wish her well at her performing arts high school. That was definitely the toughest Dunkin' Save in recent memory. I gave my vote to Viktor because I've been so mesmerized by him from the beginning. Super happy that he and Sofie made it into the finale. It would have been nice to have Steven in there too, but apparently he's got a big online following so I think he'll be fine. And, yeah, of course Simon made sure Calysta got a last few words in, something that literally none of the other eliminated acts so far this season have gotten. What is his deal with her? Yeah, I get she was his Golden Buzzer and he doesn't like to admit to being wrong, but he wouldn't have looked at her twice on AI. I do have to laugh that his Golden Buzzer is the only one that didn't make it into the finale. 4 Link to comment
Apatee September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 A bit bummed Jayna didn't make it in, my favorite of the vocal acts this year. Wouldn't have minded Brundage going through as well. Really glad Sofie and Viktor made it, though it pains me to see that they were close to the chopping block. This years winner is almost guaranteed to be a singer (Crum or Grace most likely). I got a little angry that Calysta got a goodbye dedicated to her, while Katie got to stand awkwardly beside her. Unfair to the others who get sent packing with nothing. 4 Link to comment

I'd say that's pretty par for the AGT finale course. Half the finalists being singers is still too many for my taste. Especially as I think that it's a really questionable group, with Sal being there for his Rat Pack shtick more than his singing, and Grace being there because she's such a special little snow flake. In the past, I think multiple singers split the vote and allowed a non-singer to win, but I don't see that happening this season. If it's not Grace it's going to be Brian. Partially because of their popularity, but also because I don't think any of the non-musical acts are that strong. It would take one of them pulling out something really spectacular that they haven't yet shown us, and I don't see that happening. I think the only one who might have a chance to steal this is Jon Dorenbos, because he has an appealing personality, and the pro football player turned magician winning AGT would be a great story. 17 hours ago, UsernameGoesHere said: I figured Steven would win the Dunkin Save, just because he seems to have such a big online following, and then the judges would have to choose between the circus acts. I thought Steven's semi-final act was just not that good. He spent a lot of time setting up the wall of cubes trick, with little pay-off. He never really established the significance of inserting the final cubes into the empty slots. And after he turned it around for the big reveal, it was noticeable that we never once got a close-up shot of "Brad Pitt." I have to think it's because the picture didn't look much like Brad Pitt at all. Edited September 8, 2016 by bluepiano 3 Link to comment

PhD-Purgatory15 September 8, 2016 Share September 8, 2016 bluepiano, I think we are largely on the same page. No matter how mind blowing Sofie, Viktor, and Tape Face are in their final performances.....they have acts that are just too niche to legitimately win the whole thing. Which leaves the Clairvoyants and John to possibly benefit if the two favorites in Grace, and Brian would heavily split votes. I tend to think Laura as an opera singer has a ceiling of about 3rd or 4th place. Linkin Bridge could maybe be a wildcard if they knock the song choice out of the park for a second week in a row. I tend to think they'll finish middle of the pack. I think it's unlikely the Clairvoyants could cause an upset.....but if the NFL gets involved via social media and Jon comes up with his best trick of the season, he has to be in with a chance. I'll say it goes Grace, Jon, Brian, Laura, and maybe Sal to round out the top five.... 1 Link to comment

Kromm September 9, 2016 Share September 9, 2016 (edited) Happy in some ways that some singers got knocked out (although the stupid finale is STILL about 50% singers), but sad at a lot of what else went on here. Brian Justin Crum's performance sucked this week, for example. Him getting the pimp spot AND going straight through? Ugh. Linkin' Bridge is pretty good, but FAR better vocal groups have been on this show. They are far from ideal as finalists for me because of that. And The Clairvoyants, while FAR better than the silly little kids, really DO only have one main trick (and a few minor variations). I honestly think they should have been out a few rounds ago. That said... better them then more singers. Sofie Dossi shouldn't have HAD to have been The Dunkin' Save, even though its good she got it. She was the best act of the night by FAR and should have just been right through via the NORMAL voting. Viktor Kee was an acceptable judge's choice, although if it HAD been him vs. Sofie, she would have deserved it over him by a ton. Edited September 9, 2016 by Kromm 3 Link to comment
Jordan27 September 12, 2016 Author Share September 12, 2016 What a huge upset that Calysta didn't make the finals. In fact, she didn't even make the top six. And neither did Jayna. I guess that theory that everyone listens to the judges and all the voters are stupid who only vote for girl singers took a big hit. Link to comment
PepperMonkey September 13, 2016 Share September 13, 2016 (edited) Viktor, Sofie and Deadly Games would be a show trio I would PAY to see in Vegas. Brian Justin Crum DID suck this week (I just watched the show, sorry) but he was always a lock to be in the final. I'm glad to see someone is on the same page as me with The Clairvoyants. It's boring to me. Plus, I will admit, I viewed them as smug UNTIL I saw them with the other finalists as they each got in. They were very warm and seemed genuinely excited for each one as they were announced. So while I still think Grace will win, I guess I don't really care who wins. Nothing excited me a LOT this year except Viktor, Deadly Games, Sofie, and, well, no one else really, so since DG is already gone and Viktor and/or Sofie have about a snowball's chance of winning, I'll probably just pop in here on Thursday to see who took the prize. Got really angry with Mr. Monkey since he said Sofie was boring this week and wondered where were the bow and arrow? I thought her routine was spectacular.
